+ -1 moreThings went very well, Anthony showed up on time and completed the work in a professional manner. He proved to be very knowledgable and patiently answered all my questions. The reason I graded Price a 'B' is once I talked to Ray (owner) I didn't feel the need to have any other company give me a quote (which is uncharacteristic for me) so I have nothing to gauge this against.
Description of Work: Repair a spot on the fiberglass steps in pool, some of the outer coating had been knocked off.

+ -1 moreI called. While on the phone, I took a picture of the damage and emailed the customer service person. She gave me an estimate which was precisely the cost. We set a date. They called two days prior to confirm the date. Again,he arrived early. He did a fabulous job and finished within the estimated time frame. . We are thrilled. We find the quality to be excellent. Our GC in the remodel accidentally chipped the tub and called Surface Specialists. They sent a technician out promptly who did a fabulous job with the repair. We are thrilled. Everyone has asked if we have put in an upgraded tub. I would definitely use them again and can highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We had them refinish an old bath tub. They repaired cracks and then refinished it. The color went from light blue to white. The technician arrived on time. He actually called and asked if he could come a few minutes early which thrilled me. He repaired the cracks, prepped some rusty are spas, and then put a new coat of white enamel/ epoxy on the tub.

+ -1 moreIt went wonderfully. Anthony, of Surface Specialists, explained the procedure and set to work. He did an outstanding job. The finish looks just like porcelain. We are extremely pleased with the beautiful results.
Description of Work: Our current 1930's tub fit our small bathroom dimensions perfectly so we did not wish to replace it. We requested our bathroom remodeler, Divine Plumbing, have our 1930's tub refinished. As our remodeler contracted the service, I do not know the price he paid. He said he was impressed speaking with Surface Specialists and used them to refinish the tub.

+ -1 moreAn appointment was made on Thursday for next Tuesday, but I asked if there was an opening on Friday - to come then. There was. I recieved a call and 15 minutes later a gentleman was at my door ready to fix the tub. They said they had finished a job early and had some extra time. The man put on shoe protectors. Brought in all equipment in one case. The work took about 1/2 an hour. There were some fumes, but this bathroom does not have good circulation. The work area was kept clean. On inspection I could not see where the work was done exactly so the repairs were excellent. I have not gone in with a magnifying glass, but I would challenge you to come and find the repair lines. I am very happy with the work. While it is not possible to rate the repairs on how long they last, we are very impressed right now.
Description of Work: There were two chips and a scratch in our new Kholer 1123a-white acrylic bathtub. They were filled and repaired. One chip was about the size of a corn kernal and 1/16" deep. The other chip was a slim c on a shelf like corner of an arm rest. (We would have thought it would be hard to fix. Originally I was quoted on one chip and a scratch. (I did not know about the second chip) They actually charged me less than the original quote over the phone. (They had mentioned the quote might be higher than necessary and that they would have to inspect the chips. On sending pictures via text messaging they said it would be no problem.)

+ -1 moreMy husband had a leak detection specialist and he had recommended this guy to us. We didn't spend anything on the service because it was under warranty. So that was between him and the pool manufacturer. We had tried somebody else that the pool manufacturer had sent and we were displeased. So we called this guy and he did a very good job. He just went the mile to do the job. He's got good working philosophies and he stuck with that. It was a big project, and we're just very happy with his work ethic and the work that he did. We will absolutely use his services again in the future.
Description of Work: We used Surface Specialist of Charlotte for pool service. We last used his services I think in June or July. He just came out and did the work for us. He did a big repair on a fiber glass wall pool.

Description of Work: They were reccomended by the plumber we use--All About The Pipes Plumbing. My wife & I were genuinely pleased with their work. Even our dog was curious. They came in & cleaned the tub surface thoroughly first. Looking at that, I thought the tub looked better already. Then, they also warned us that there would be some noise & an odor after they were done. They did run the ventilation fan in the bath- room where they were working. They had a really long coiled hose that they ran from our front door into the guest bath where they were working. This was used, we think, to send the chemical from outside where they mixed it, into the guest bath. Meanwhile, they put clear plastic all over the tile floor & wall tiles that I just had done previously by A-1 Carpet & Tile. The guy was very nice, explained what was going on when asked, & very careful & neat. He also recaulked around the tub. The tub, by the way, was made out of old cast iron which was glazed.. This was the first time it had been refinished. We will definitely use them again if necessary, & will give them high marks to anyone who wishes to use them. Also, their price was quite reasonable. We had compared this to putting an acrylic liner over the existing tub, which we were told cost about @1500.00 to $2,000.00. We did not want to spend that for the liner since refinishing was cheaper & just as attractive. We have already gotten lots of complements from others in the neighborhood as to how good it looks.

+ -1 moreThey were very professional, friendly and accommodating. They came out on two different dates for the two bathrooms so we would never be without a working shower. One tub/shower looked so bad that I could have been talked into an expensive liner, but they said I only needed a re-caulk and they were right. I should have had it done years ago, they look so much better and are easier to keep clean. I was a little confused in that I thought they would replace grout, but apparently they don't do grout, just caulk, and that took care of 95% of it for me. Cleanup was excellent. Overall a good experience and I would use them again.
Description of Work: Removed old caulk and re-caulked tub and shower in two bathrooms, chemically cleaned tub.

+ 0 moreIt went very well. The owner/manager came out and gave an exact estimate of the cost to have the procedure performed, and it was correct at the end. The technician who came out to perform the work was courteous and cleaned up after each of his three visits. The company seems to be very honest and does a fantastic job. I am very pleased with the results and would highly recommend this to everyone who is interested in updating the look of the bathroom.
Description of Work: They cleaned and resurfaced the bathtub, bathtub tile surrounding wall, and the floor tile from dated green/beige colors to white.

+ -1 moreAnthony came on Wednesday and thoroughly cleaned all the tile and grout in my master shower and around the bathtub. Then on Thursday he sprayed the shower with an acrylic coating (several layers). On Friday he caulked a few of the seams in the shower, and sealed the grout around the tub. He was very prompt, professional, and a hard worker. He was very skilled, having done this type of work for 15 years. He was also very neat, carefully covering everything before spraying. When he fiinished, our bathroom tile looked like new! We are very pleased.
Description of Work: Cleaned and repaired grout in shower and around bathtub. Refinished tile shower with sprayed coating. Recaulked seams. Sealed grout lines around bathtub.

+ -1 moreThe guy who came out, came when he said he would come. He gave me an estimate. He was courteous and that was as far as it went. He was prompt and polite. He sent the estimate by e-mail within 24 hours and I had told him it was not going to be a project that I was going to do within the next 6 months, but I was trying to get estimates of costs. The estimated amount was in two parts; it needed to scrape off the finish on my tub with $250 and then to reapply a new finish with $750. It was around $1000 for which I could get a whole new tub. I don't know if I will be using him, but he was very prompt and professional. He was very nice, excellent, and fine. I would possibly use him in the future.
Description of Work: Surface Specialist of Charlotte gave me an estimate for scraping off the finish on my tub and reapplying a new finish on it, in February, but I didn't use them.

Thought I had to have one tub completely done, but Ray said it only needed a new skid which saved me money. With that, I was able to have the ugly green tub completely redone in white. The tech, Patrick, is a wonderful young man. Even our cat "Brat" who doesn't like anybody, loved him. Try it, you will love it.

+ 0 moreWe found a crack in our marble garden tub that they honestly and professionally advised us they could not repair and, later, guarantee. We had the marble tub removed and replaced with a regular fiberglass garden tub. The marble base and shower area, then, needed to measure up to the new tub so we called Surface Specialists. They came out in a very timely manner (in the middle of our remodel), priced the job and was back as soon as possible to re-surface the marble.
Description of Work: They re-surfaced a large area of cultured marble that had been in our master bath over 20 years. We wanted to "freshen" our bathroom without going to the expense of removing the marble and adding tile. They did a beautiful job. They were professional, neat and the result exceeded my expectations!

+ -1 moreSeveral years ago, our fiberglass tub developed a significant crack on the bottom. My husband filled it in and repaired it using a repair kit. It was usable, but very rough and irregular on the bottom, and the color did not match. It looked like we had a permanent ring around the side, and the tub was generally dingy looking. We considered buying and installing a new tub, but, after reading the reviews on Angie's list, decided to contact Surface Specialists. I called them and got an immediate response. The owner came over and discussed the repair, described the repair work, and gave an estimate. We decided to proceed, and a technician was scheduled to come the same week. When he arrived, he worked carefully and efficiently, taping off around the tub and covering up our wall paper to protect it. He worked all of one day and the morning of the next. The result is a beautiful tub that looks like new! It shines and sparkles throughout. The technician gave us advise on caring for the tub and voluntarily removed a small stain in another tub. He was very knowledgeable and attentive to detail. I am pleased to show off our tub - no more covering it up with the curtain!
Description of Work: An overlay was placed on the bottom of the tub to correct self repair. The entire tub/shower surround was refinished to white.

Technician removed his shoes while in the house. Worked for 4.5 hours. I am very pleased with the result. My shower looks brand new for a fraction of the cost of a new one.
Description of Work: Refinished 46-inch walk-in shower (no tub). Shower is one-peice fiberglass unit installed at the time the house was built (1987). I was looking for a less expensive alternative to having the shower unit ripped out and replaced.

There was over spray all over the room, I don't think they meant to do it and weren't trying to be sloppy. I think they have a good reputation and may hire them for something else but not tub resurfacing.
