Earlier in the week the clothes dryer was inadvertently run without the lint filter being in place. An article of clothing was sucked into the dryer and got tangled in the fan. On Thursday, after checking Angie's List, I called Monny Bounds and explained the problem. I requested a Saturday appointment, and we agreed on 9:45 AM. Monny told me that the cost would be $125. On Saturday morning Monny arrived at 9:50. He told me it would take twenty minutes. Twenty minutes later I had the article of clothing in hand and the dryer was reassembled. I wrote a check for $125. I was very happy with my experience and would definitely recommend him to others.

Mr. Bounds arrived promptly on time and was very professional and courteous. After I went through using another appliance repair company on Angie's list the week prior and the dryer failing to heat and being refused service by this company, I called around and reached Mr. Bounds who was reluctant to service my dryer because I live outside his service area. After speaking to him and explaining the situation I experienced with the other company saying it was the control board that probably needed to be replaced after they replaced a thermostat didn't sit right with him. I'm glad that he decided to help me out after the stress the other company put me through. The bottom line is Mr. Bounds went above and beyond to help me get my dryer working great! I highly recommend his company to anyone that wants complete satisfaction working with an appliance repair company!
Description of Work: Mr. Bounds diagnosed my Whirlpool Dryer and replaced a high limit switch. Suggested that we have the venting system cleaned to optimize the airflow of the dryer thus increasing efficiency and savings on our utility bill.

Our dryer quit on us all of a sudden yesterday. I didn't find out until close to 8pm and we had a load of wet clothes in both the washer and dryer. I called Matthews Appliance and the guy was excellent to talk to. Based on what I told him was happening, we were able to conclude that we were looking at about a $300 charge between labor and repairs. We were better off buying a brand new unit, which we did today at Lowes. I was very appreciative for his honesty, knowing that he wasn't going to get the repair revenue. We will use them again in the future. Thank you!!

I had a bad pump in a Frigidaire front load washer and this business responded quickly and professionally. I called Matthews Appliance Repair on Thursday, Jan. 2 and told Monny, the owner, that my 8-year-old Maytag Neptune front loading washer works but it becomes very unbalanced during the spin cycles. Monny told me that he only fixes "broken" washer and dryers and that since my washer still works, he wouldn't do it. He said that it was really an "installation" problem. I explained that my husband and I can't lift the machine to fix it properly and that we were very impressed with the reviews that Matthews Appliance received on Angie's List. I convinced him to come and look at the machine the next morning. He showed up at 10:00 AM as promised and immediately saw what the problem was. Monny was very nice and quite professional. He fixed the problem in about 15 minutes and only charged me $75 for the service (he usually charges a flat rate of $100). I told him that if and when my washer or dryer really breaks down, I would definitely call Matthews Appliance. I was very pleased with the service.
Description of Work: Washing Machine was unbalanced and during the spin cycles, it rocked, shook and moved all over the laundry room. After each wash, I would have to push it back into place. Monny, the repair man, looked at the washer and saw that it was not level at all. He spent about 15 minutes to level the machine's legs and he locked them into place (this wasn't done during installation) so it never happens again.

Completely satisfied with his service! Extra informative on the phone. He knew over the phone what the problem was and how much the repair would cost. Extremely Quick Response Time! I was debating on replacing my washer since it was 11 years old and he was quick to tell me that a repair would be a wiser decision and that the washer that i had was actually a better unit then what i would buy at the store today. As you can tell I was impressed and completely satisfied with the service provided and the repairman/owner himself. Extremely nice guy and trustworthy!
Description of Work: Repaired washer that had quit spinning. There was a piece broke from 11 years of service and he replaced it with a stronger part then what came from the factory. The factory part was all plastic and the part he used had metal reinforcements, so it shouldn't break again.

Works perfectly now. The gentleman appears to be sole proprietor. He does not have a fleet of trucks equipped to handle all problems on the first visit. I had to wait about a week for the needed part to come in. However, service was beyond expected. He adjusted the feet on my dishwasher (so that it doesn't wobble) and also replaced a part for my refrigerator's ice machine at no extra cost. Outstanding work!

I contacted Matthews Appliance after Sears Appliance Repair Services failed to show for a scheduled & confirmed appointment. Repairman arrived within 2 hours of my call, quickly determined heating coil had failed, replaced it in less than 30 minutes. Charged a flat rate for the service call and parts, just as advertised. Very professional, prompt, knowledgeable & clearly knows his washer/dryer repairs. Highly recommend for your repairs.

My Kenmore gas dryer (aprox 13 years old) stopped working Sunday. The next day I called Matthews Appliance. He asked me about my problem and said he could get there later that day. Great. He came out and looked the unit over and diagnosed the problem as a bad solenoid. He replaced the solenoids, tested the dryer and said it is now working. I paid him the $125 and he left. The next Wednesday (2 days later) my wife had to wash some clothes. she put 3 delicate shirts of our daughter in the dryer and put it on low temperature and the dryer would not dry them. Completely cold, no heat. We Called the repairman back that Wednesday, he came out promptly. He tested the unit and said it seems to be working and asked us exactly what settings we had the dryer on. My wife explained she was using the low temp setting for delicates. He went back and looked again and did some more testing and found the problem. He explained that when he tested the unit originally (after first visit) he tested on high heat and it worked fine after replacing solenoids. On the second visit after talking to us he tested on low and found out the thermostat was also bad. He replaced the thermostat, tested unit again on all temp settings. Unit now works fine. He did not charge me any more for followup visit. i would absolutely use this man again. Nobody is PERFECT. So there were actually 2 problems on this 13 Y.O. dryer. He came back out, fixed my problem and did not charge me. TWO THUMBS UP

My washer failed to spin and the clothes were soaking wet. So I called Matthews Appliance Repair. I called and left a message at 0845; my call was returned at 0915 and the owner was at my house at 1030. He knew exactly what to do and resolved the problem in a matter of a few minutes. No hemming and hawing... no signs of uncertainty. He's seen it before too many times. While I had him here I had him check on a potential problem with the dryer. The old dryer has some worn parts that he didn't have the parts on his service truck; so I rescheduled a return visit. He was in and out in less than an hour, and my washing machine was back in business. He takes checks or cash; cash is preferred. He charged me $100 for the service, which I gladly paid, considering I was expecting to have to replace both the washer and the dryer. I would definitely recommend him to my friends... and will not lose his contact info (magnet attached to my washer).
Description of Work: Repaired 15 year old washing machine. The machine had a plugged pressure sensing tube. Basically the sensor determines the amount of water in the tub. If there is too much water in the tub the machine will not spin. If the sensor does not detect the water, it's possible the water will continue filling, flooding the laundry room and surrounding area.

On Wednesday, July 10, 2013, my wife discovered that water had leaked into our Whirlpool clothes washer and, from there, onto our utility room floor. With the help of Angie's List, we selected a serviceman from a repair service called Matthews Appliance. The serviceman was Monny Bounds and we chose him on the basis of the glowing reports he had received from his previous customers. As it turned out, those reports were very true in reflecting the service we received from Monny. We contacted Monny that same day and he proposed an appointment for the next day. We were unable to take advantage of that appointment because of previous commitments that we had but Monny was very flexible and proposed a convenient morning appointment for the following day, July 12th, and we agreed to that appointment date. He asked that we provide him with the washer model number via Twitter or email and I did so via email. With an exchange of some very brief emails, I was able to give him the model number and the answer to that one question that allowed Monny to show up at our house with the proper replacement part for the repair. We also agreed on a time of 9:45AM for the appointment. At precisely 9:45AM on July 12, 2013, Monny walked in our front door with his associate Danny. They also brought their tools and the single replacement part. We showed them to our washer and, in just a brief time (less than ten minutes), they had opened it up, located the failing part, replaced it with the new part and closed up our washer. The job was finished. Monny's charge for the work was $100.00, his usual flat charge for this kind of job (unless there are complicating conditions to the work). I would have to characterize Monny and Danny as very knowledgeable about their work and very professional in how they completed it; everything in the washer area was restored to exactly how they had found it. There was nothing left that we had to move or anything to clean up. They managed their appointment time well. They arrived exactly on time but, at the same time, they were very willing to take the time to answer our questions in a completely understandable way. We appreciated that very much. Both men were very personable and courteous in dealing with us. Monny did a very fine job of exceeding all the good comments in his evaluations from other customers. He gets an "A" grade from us in his overall evaluation and we will certainly be contacting him again if we have need of his services.

Our dryer quit heating so our clothes weren't drying. Of course it was a holiday weekend when all appliances choose to die! I went online to see if there were any inexpensive fixes I could try before spending a lot of money on a repair, or worse, replacement. On Sunday afternoon I called Matthews Appliance to see how much a thermal fuse would cost. I spoke with Monny for a while and he explained that the problem could be one of about 12 things. He said he had a flat rate of $125 for repair of a Whirlpool Duet dryer. He went on to tell me that he only repairs washers and dryers. I was concerned about putting money into an 8 year old dryer, especially since a new one could be had for around $500. I didn't want to spend $125 and then have it not work in a week because of something else. He said, yes that's possible but rare. He convinced me that it would be better to fix this one because the quality is better than the newer models. I'm not sure how I feel about the flat rate pricing. Some parts are $10 others are $40. Monny told me that he loses money on some repairs but I didn't really want to subsidize someone else's repair. After checking him out on Angie's List, I decided to gamble with Monny. We set up an appointment for the next day. Then he hits me with the fact that I have to pay in cash because he had some trouble taking credit cards and checks, but I would get a written warranty good for a year. I ignored the alarm bells going off in my head. Monny and a helper arrived at the appointed time on the dot. The problem was the heating element (about $40), not the $7 thermal fuse that I was exploring. They cleaned the lint from around the drum and in the vent. They checked all connections and made sure everything was in good working order and we're finished less than a half hour. In the end, the dryer works perfectly and I am happy we went with Monny's suggestion to fix it.

I was referred to him through another appliance guy. He gave me insider information on why I should not repair a washing machine I had purchased a little over 3 years ago. He broke down which big companies own factories made in China, and who puts an fancy emblems on a bad machines. We spent about 10 minutes on the phone discussing my particular situation. He explained that my washing machine brand has lots of parts made overseas, and that to invest any additional money in it would be throwing it down the drain. He could have came out and charged me hundreds of dollars to repair a machine that will more than likely break again soon, but he didn't. Would definitely call him first for any other washer/dryer issues I have in the future. I respect people who give me honest info instead of trying to sell me something. Thanks Matthews Appliance!

My boyfriend's dryer stopped drying in his house, and then ironically, mine was making a horrible noise a few days later. We were so happy with the first repair that we didn't think twice about using him for the second. Monny and assistant came out within a few hours of our respective calls, and VERY quickly had us up and running. Monny carries all parts necessary on his truck, is quick and efficient, professional, and cleaned up behind himself. Don't let that scratchy voice on the phone put you off! Monny provided super and friendly customer service. Would totally use him again and highly recommend. Monny says he doesn't "try" to fix a dryer; he DOES fix it!
