Handyman Services--The English Handyman

Great experience all around - showed up on time and did a very thorough job! I appreciated his honesty in reviewing the job - and very detailed worker! Will call him again. thanks for the great job!

The Handyman arrived on time. He brought his own tools. He did a good job and made the bathroom look much better. He charged me for the grout which I did not expect. Perhaps I missed that detail. He was cheerful. He sang! Very nice guy.

The bathroom looks like new. He did a great job.

Handyman Services--The English Handyman I was very dissatisfied with. I gave him an opportunity to redeem himself and he did not bother to contact me back. In fact, I have to be honest with you I joined you thinking that I was going to eliminate a bunch of riff raft, dealing with straight up courteous people, and you guys may want to take a second look at some of the people that you have on the list. The English Handyman quoted me on a job, I let him come and do it, he did not put my plumbing back up properly, it took hours of my own time to fix it after he left. He offered to put a bucket under there so he could come back the next day. Obviously he was ready to go home. The carpentry work that he did for replacing a sink top, I instructed him on what needed to be done and he didn't do it and I had to have somebody come in and fix what he screwed up. And then paid twice as much. I wanted the guy to give me my $110 back, he won't even bother to call me back. His demeanor and how he treated me was great, it was his quality of work that was a problem. He is not that well versed or trained in what he is doing, I actually took pictures of the before and after where I had to fix, he put a piece on backwards and that's why it was leaking. He had to take a cabinet out and a countertop and put all the fixtures up and in the process of doing that he didn't do the plumbing back right.

It was fine, not exactly excellent. The handyman removed some of the silicon in some areas and didn't replace it but the other places he cleaned it up and replaced it.

We had an appointment for Friday morning March 22nd. Provider did not arrive for the appointment. Multiple phone calls to the two listed numbers went unanswered. Emails sent to the listed address were not returned. It was only upon contacting Angie's list twice, and more than 72 hours after the appointment time did we hear from the provider in the form of an email (not even the courtesy of a phone call). For the appointment, provider asked us to not use the bathroom and the kitchen from the night prior to allow the regrouting work to be performed easily. We did not use the same and had cleared the areas. It was a complete waste of our time. We have asked Angie's List for a full refund.

Noel was great! Great guy (as far as I can tell) and great work. My shower looks so much better and I have peace of mind knowing that water isn't penetrating the sub-floor underneath the shower. Noel showed up on time (a couple minutes early). He was very respectful and friendly. He had communicated with me prior to the appointment about what color grout he would need so he showed up with the necessary materials. The grout was in a varied state of disrepair so he stated that he would basically have to remove some old grout and reapply a new layer of grout. He also helped me solve a funky light fixture conundrum that has been vexing us for almost three years. He figured it out in about 30 seconds. Much appreciated! He went to work and needed the entirety of the 3 hours to re-grout the shower. He instructed us to let it cure for 48 hours and left a clean worksite with the shower looking like new. He also instructed us to give him a call if there were any issues with the grout. The only additional charge was for materials and I fell that the service was an excellent value and I would have been happy even at full price. I would highly recommend Noel/The English Handyman. I plan on using Noel alot in the future as the need arises.

It went well. The English Handyman (Noel) removed old grout and put new in master shower, and re-grouted where tub meets floor in other bathroom. Also re-grouted around the kitchen sink, and offered to re-grout around the kitchen backsplash. As he didn't have his suggestedcolor caulk with him, he offered to come back another day, which he did. The color looked good with my backsplash. Overall his caulk lines were good. Noel was very pleasant and professional. He let me know to use silicone, not caulk. He called to let me know he was on his way.

Noel was very professional and did a fantastic job on the things I wanted done. He has done other work for me in the past and as usual, he does great work.

He was here a long time and the work was done. However it didn't seem like it was all replaced so maybe he isn't as experiences/efficient. There was dust all over the bath room which I had to clean up.

He arrived and introduced himself. Very polite, on time and professional. Got right to work, was thorough and checked in with me during the process. Had me check his final work, which was great. Gave me tips to keep the shower tiles clean. would invite back again, if needed.

I bought a 'big deal' from Angie's List for this service (up to 3 hours for $79 of caulking/grouting/tile work). Should have read the fine print and any reviews that were available at the time of purchase. By the time I was ready to use the deal, there were multiple complaints about lack of responsiveness and unfavorable evaluations about work not completed or completed but unsatisfactory. Since I was out the money, however, I called to set up an appointment. Several unanswered messages to his phone later, his wife finally responded and a date was set for the work to be done. He arrived promptly, but with a 'tude and explanations, for which I had not asked. I showed him what needed to be done and he was finished in about an hour and a half. Realizing that my 'deal' actually worked out to be 1 1/2 hours for $79, I negotiated the about $5 in materials he had used to do the job as part of the price I had already paid. As he left, he said that if I was unsatisfied with his work, that he would be glad to come back and re-do anything that was not done correctly. Why would I have this workman come back to correct what should have been done correctly in the first place? I had given him two replacement tiles to use in replacing the broken one. He broke one of those while replacing the original broken tile, and then managed to chip an adjacent tile, so I still have a 'dinged' floor. I was told that I did not have to remove old caulk, and so I did not, that he would do that. But from the look afterwards and the way the caulk is wearing these six months plus out from the work done, I do not think that he did a satisfactory job of removing the old caulking. (I had been instructed not to use either the tub or the walk-in shower for seveal days prior to the work being done, so we did not use either for a week before he came.) I found a thin film of silicone caulk smeared all over both bathroom floors, making them very slippery, and multiple large globs and smears of caulk on the porcelain tub and sinks, which to date (3/2013) I have yet to competely remove. This is the first negative review I have written for Angie's List, which just goes to show that even here you need to not let your guard down. I have drug my feet about writing this review, as I REALLY hate being so negative. But I don't think I am being picky or unreasonable to expect that something as simple as caulking and tile repalcement should not be done beautifully and correctly the first time, if a workman who has as much experience as this fellow said he had (35 years) actually knew what he was doing or cared about the quality of his work and wished to be hired back in the future.

They wouldn't return my requests to schedule an appointment or requests from Angie's List. I ended up having to get a refund because I couldn't even get them to schedule the appointment.

Noel arrived on time, assessed the work, and did everything perfectly. He's also fun to talk to, as he has a great sense of humor.

I would certainly recommend and call on him again and again. Turns out he loves to cook so, we ended up having a pleasant conversation. Overall, I was very satisfied with the service

I purchased a $99 Big Deal on Angies list for 3 hours of bathroom caulk/grout work from The English Handyman. Scheduling was a breeze. Neil arrived on time and after chatting briefly he went to work. He was upbeat, personable and did a good job. Although the work on the tub and shower took him over the 3 hour limit, he also agreed to hang a door for us, taking him additional time. He didn't charge us for the extra time and, since we had purchased the materials for the work and had extra left over, he agreed to exchange the additional work for 2 tubes of silicone caulk -- a $14 bargain! I would definitely consider using him again. He is a hard worker and quite a delightful character.

Mr. Fludgate came right on time. He went right to work after I explained what I wanted. I had purchased all materials ahead of time so I had everything on hand. Mr. Fludgate was very professional and finished all that I needed done under this deal.

.The biggest thing is that they didn't do well which really pisses me off. I have a really nice stone back wash in my kitchen and they ran a new line of coke down at the bottom and splashed it up the wall and I had to come back and scrub it out myself afterwards. I was very displeased with the quality of the work, very displeased with the cleanup and I would never have Handy Man in my house again. I will be very cautious about getting special deals in the future. Some of the work was okay but the most expensive part of the work was not okay. The stuff in the kitchen and my master bath was totally unacceptable.

He re-grouted the tubs and sinks. It was a small job and we were happy with the results.

Noel arrived on time and completed a full list of work to be completed inside and outside of our home. Noel was friendly, worked none stop, neat and problem solved a task in no time..nothing was out of his reach for completion. .

We had restoration of grout and sealing of tile in a shower that had not been touched (other than routine cleaning) for about 10 years. The service was punctual, the work product was excellent, and we were left with a phone number to call if we were not satisfied and a verbal commitment to come back and fix anything that we were not satisfied with.

Initially, the work seemed acceptable. I even tipped him for the extra time. Once the grout dried the appearance was not uniform and there was a thick grout haze on the tile in the shower. I was told it would easily come off once it thoroughly dried. It did not. I ended up having to remove the grout and redo it myself. It took me several hours to scrape off the residue on the tile from the botched job. In discussions with the DIY store tile department personnel where I purchased my supplies I was told the pre-mix grout used was not designed for wet locations. Correcting this work took me probably thirty hours.

I purchased the 3 hour coupon & contacted Noel to discuss my project. He estimated that it would probably take 2 days to complete. He put me on the schedule for 2 consecutive days. He was on time & professional. Has a good sense of humor. The house is a small older home that was being remodeled for a rental home. Noel hung/installed new kitchen cabinets, repaired drywall in kitchen/dining room that had been cut by a plumber, modified/installed interior doors, installed moulding, caulked around windows, installed over-stove range hood, and installed a towel bar. The work took longer than the 2 days that he had estimated. He put me on his schedule as soon as he could to get the last day of work completed so that I could begin to show the home as quickly as possible. Noel did a great job, considering all of the issues that you tend to run in to with an older home. I look forward to working with him on our next project.

Noel is extremely easy to work with. He arrived promptly, quickly got to work, and very efficiently did the work in an extremely careful and high grade manner. He was very tidy and very knowledgeable. We will definitely work with him again.
