Handyman Services--The English Handyman

Noel was punctual, responsive, courteous, unobtrusive, and funny! We intend to hire him again.

It was a very complex problem but Noel was able to come quickly due to a cancellation and tried different approaches to solve the problem which I appreciated and also told me of the possible problems with each approach. It was difficult but he got it done.

He was too booked to do the work timely enough for my needs. No hard feelings, just want a refund.

He was able to get me in quickly, and he did good quality work. We had purchased a big deal for the service.

As always, Noel is great and professional. He installed timers and lights that needed replacing. One of my biggest jobs was the installation of the blinds over the landing of my staircase where the ceiling is very high. I'm very pleased with his work and the time and care that he took to make sure that everything was secure. He did a great job painting my third bedroom. Once again, Noel gets an A+ review from me. I will definitely use him again.

We got Noel on a 'handyman for a day' deal. We are very happy with his work. Noel was a nice, honest person, who was easy to work with. He went the extra mile with his work. We asked him to simply cut and replace the piece of rotted wood on the stairs, but he went ahead and primed it for us too, to protect it from the immediate weather. We asked him to cut the butcher block island, and he went ahead and sanded the edges that he cut, to ensure they were smooth. It was also my intention to change the 18 foot ceiling light myself, with Noel holding the (tall!) ladder, but he, without hesitation, climbed up on the ladder and changed it for me, which was lucky, because it was far more complicated than I could have anticipated. Finally, Noel offered to return the ladder to the rental shop with me, so I would not have to rent a truck to return it myself. Should I need any handyman work in the future, I would be happy to call him.

Purchased "Big Deal." Provider has not returned multiple phone calls. Provider continues to advertise the same Big Deal despite their lack of service.

He was all the good things listed above. He worked very hard. It was a difficult job and it took longer than we had expected.

Let me start off by saying that I want to give Noel an A++. He was awesome. I'm a new homeowner and I needed a few things done. I also needed to get a little familiar with the ins and outs of my home. Noel was awesome. He answered all of my questions and concerns. He installed a ceiling fan for me. He also repaired an electrical issue that was affecting all of my bathrooms on both floors and addressed a couple of other electrical issues that I have. He fixed my dryer ventilation issue. He installed a screen window. He put up all of my curtain rods on the first floor. I feel like I hit the Handyman Lottery. I would definitely recommend him and I'm using him again. The English Handyman gets an A++ from me.

I had the occasion to call Mr. "Noel" to do some grout work that I seemed to not be able to get anyone to come out and complete before I had a new shower door installed. When I first contacted him it was thought that he was busy for far beyond when I needed the completed, but he found a time, was punctual and did the best job that he could with the prior tile work, he was not completely happy with his job and offered to come back to do a complete removal of the shower base and put in new tile at a reduced rate. Noel was very personable and as most Englishmen (including myself) talkative. I am happy with the work and would recommend him. I have some additional work that I may need done in the near future and will consider calling Mr. Fludgate.

He came out for an estimate and determined that the job I had in mind was too big and outside of his field of expertise. He was polite, friendly, and professional, but I will get a refund from Angie's List.

Noel arrived right on time, despite having come from a restaurant job he was forced to start at 4:00 AM. I wasn't sure exactly what was needed in two 1940s era tile floors in two bathrooms, but he sized the job up and proceded to steam clean and regrout two floors. We also had an one bathroom and one old kitchen sink that had old caulk around them. He removed the old caulk around those and recaulked them as well. I was very impressed at how much he was able to get done in the three hours he was there. The only negative I would say is that I had to come through afterwards and clean up floors where old caulking residue was left but I would have rather paid him to do the actual work than for him to take his time to vacuum up something I could take care of myself. I would use his services again.

I found Noel likeable and professional. He did more than what he said he would do in the time frame he quotes. He cares about what he does. One of the cabinet doors he painted wasn't up to his standard, so he took it back to his shop and brought it out to me later. He is a jack of all trades. He is coming back out to do a few other things that I have discovered in the rental. Thanks to his hard work, within two weeks of listing the property, I had six applications and now a tenant moving in.

Noel did a fabulous job. Not only did he complete the job as requested but also found other rotted pieces that he also replaced. All pieces that were replaced were not only done to perfection but they were primed and caulked. Now all we have to do is to paint. Great job Noel. We would totally recommend Noel, and will definitely use him again when the need arises. He was on time as he stated, went above and beyond, cleaned up when completed and did it all for a fair price. If you need a handyman, "The English Handyman" is the one to use.

That was good. I'm going to hire him again as I've got a few more things to do. He's a very nice man. He may be hard to get a hold of. I think he's so busy that you have to wait a while but, it's worth waiting for, actually.The work met my expectations. I would recommend him without reservation because he did what he said he would do at the price he said he would do it and we were satisfied with the work. It was a good experience. Some things will be coming up and I'll call our friend, The English Handyman.

They were excellent. I used them in the fall. It was easy to schedule. They were punctual and they took care of what was needed. It was a good service. It was easy to use and schedule.

I originally had Noel come out to re-screen, install a new door, and update the light fixtures and ceiling fan in my gazebo. I had pressure washed the wood floors and some of the railings and posts, but Noel finished up what I hadn't done and also did the ceiling/roof. He did a great job with the pressure washing and the screening. However, he went well above and beyond with a few other things. The lighting/fan wires in the gazebo were run through plastic tubes throughout, making it industrial looking, so Noel made some suggestions to clean it up. He did a great job making it into a much nicer, cozier place to relax! He also helped me brainstorm ideas of other things to do to finish the "renovation" (such as hydraulic lift on the cover to the hot tub, location for a hammock, etc.). I haven't done any of these things yet, but would definitely call Noel if/when I do! A few months after the work was completed, I noticed that one of the screens had detached (a bird made its way into the gazebo), so I called Noel. He came out soon after and fixed the problem with no hesitation or complaints. I've seen a lot of negative reviews about timing, returned calls, etc. My project was more than just a day's worth of work and at that time, we were having a lot of rain, so we had to schedule and reschedule quite a bit. There was a time or two I didn't get an immediate call back, but I didn't really have any of the issues others seemed to have had. Although I'm sure their experience was frustrating (I would have felt the same had I had the same experience), my situation is proof that it isn't always like that.

He did it so quick that he did an additional area with no charge. It was very admirable. I thought he was very pleasant and very measurable. He matched our other caulking very well so he was knowledgeable.

I was very happy with the service. I would use him again

His work was satisfactory. We purchased the coupon, and actually we asked him to do a little bit more so we did pay him a little bit more. We were happy with the price we paid for the work done.

Prior to the arrival of The English Handyman the shower was cleaned, loose grout was removed and I attempted to prepare the area to be regrouted. The English Handyman said that he would regrout the nescessary areas and any other areas that he noticed needed attention which I had missed. He showed me the areas in the shower which he had repaired and everything looked much better than when he arrived. But when he left I went back in to take a closer look at the shower and saw that he had left debris in he shower and the toliet had cloudy water and debris in it. This is a problem since I am on a septic system. Rather than call him back to my home to clean the shower debris up I just went ahead and cleaned it up since I had gotten a daily deal from him on Angie's list. At a later date (I am not familiar with grout vs. caulk and what needed to be done in the shower) I noticed that there were some major areas in the shower, where the walls meet the floor, where no mater what I did I could not get the mildew to go away. When I tried to scratch some of the grout away all of the caulk which The English Handyman had put in the shower pulled up and there were large cracks between the wall and the shower floor. At this point I contacted another contractor to repair the problem in the shower. The second contractor showed me that latex caulk had been used instead of grout. This caulk had failed and caused water to seep into the spaces between the walls and the floor of the shower. He also showed me where there was caulk and grout debris in the drain which I did not know about and the drain cover had never been resecured. My second contractor removed the existing caulking, vaccumed the water out of the cracks, preped the area and said that he would have to make a second trip after everything had dried out before he could grout the shower correctly. He recommended that I make Angie's List aware of the poor workmanship of the English Handyman.

When I first contacted the company it took a while for them to respond, but after that initial contact the communication became better (the owner, Noel had been sick). Noel arrived on time and was very friendly. He worked quickly and neatly and did a good job. After each thing he asked me if it was okay and what else I wanted him to do. The entire job took him about 2 hours from start to finish.

He inspected several outlets and switches and replaced them where needed.

I invited Noel (the handyman) to install my medicine cabinet. All of the cabinet doors and side panels had mirrors. After about 10 days the cabinet fell off the wall and crashed onto the bathroom floor, sending glass shards all over the bathroom. Noel offered to replace the cabinet at his expense and install the new one at no extra charge, but I declined his offer.
