Description of Work: This was a very mixed experience with some good and some not so good. We asked them to come out because of some, but not a lot, of water seepage into our basement. While here, we asked them look at an unattached garage wall concern. We will discuss these separately. | |They sent a large information package, kept in touch and confirmed the appointment prior to the visit. Pete spent quite a bit of time with us and answered most of our questions. The foundation/crawl spaces had no structural issues needing remediation although he offered to encapsulate our dry crawl space if we wished. The downspout extensions are now adequate (done since the initial contact for the appointment). The focus of the discussion was to install a WaterGuard system with multiple sump pumps and a dehumidifier at about $10,600. There was little or no discussion about re-grading along the foundation, removing water retaining mulch material, or gutter adequacy for our steep pitched roof elevations to move water away from the foundation. We decided to sign a contract so we could get the initial visit discount while we thought about options and got another opinion. We were to be sent a copy of the completely signed contract; this never happened despite a followup phone call requesting a copy. We cancelled the contract within the 72 hr window after deciding this was a solution in search of a problem. As the foundation is sound, we will reconsider if simpler measures do not work. Seems to us like a lot of selling for what can be done rather than what must be done. | |The garage is a detached double brick wall built on grade. The rear wall has cracking due to some settling. Pete recommended 2 helical piers 2 feet in from the corners with a maximum pier-to-pier 6 foot spacing to stabilize the wall for about $6500; a structural engineer was to make the final determination. Based on what he recommended for our 12' wall, the pier-to-pier spacing would be 7.5-8'. A mistaken reading of the stress load tables, bad math, or a lowball estimate??? An independent licensed structural engineer we hired does not believe any helical piers are needed at this time.

Description of Work: We purchased the $49.00 coupon for Peak to come out and look at a foundation problem -- and the coupon said they would come out soon -- don't recall the timing but when I called they said they couldn't come out for 3 months! I was looking at this property to purchase and repair -- So I lost the sale. Several weeks later they called and said they could come out but it was too late to help me. I had explained the situation to the person answering the phone the 1st time we talked, but she told me there were not exceptions due to how busy their company was. I would love to get my $49.00 back since they refused to serve us. Is that possiable?

But most likely, doing the things they recommended will solve my problem. They seemed genuinely concerned about keeping my basement dry and wanted me to have the best solution.
Description of Work: They came and gave me an estimate to make sure my basement stays dry. But along with that, they gave me many solutions, that are much cheaper to try first.

+ -1 moreThe salesman/designer was professional and courteous. The whole estimate/sales presentation process was thorough but took a long time, about 2 hours. He wanted to explain everything about their company, how they do things, etc and this included watching videos about the company and how they do a job. While I did appreciate the thoroughness I was not prepared that it would take so long. A large binder was sent to me via USPS about 2 weeks ahead of the appointment with a couple of pages of references with phone numbers and all kinds of information about the company's products and services. In the end I decided not to have the services performed due to the high price. However, it did seem to be a reputable company and they do provide a lifetime guarantee that your basement will not flood again. If I had the money I might just have hired them. They do offer financing, however, for those who want to go that route.
Description of Work: The provider came out as scheduled, looked over the job and came up with an estimate.

+ 2 moreThe work was done professionally and efficiently. They did what they said they would do, and it only took as long as they said it would. The crew was courteous and careful not to disrupt our lives more than necessary. The cat was terrorized by all the banging and grinding, but what can you do.
Description of Work: This was a 120-yr-old foundation, portions of which had been previously repaired, and portions of which were no longer supporting the floor of the house. They tuck-pointed some of the original masonry and built concrete sister walls to support two other foundation walls. The floor was jacked with a permanent jack and a new beam installed to support the floor joists. The surface surrounding the house was graded so water runs away from the foundation. This was a major piece of work, and I have no idea if I got a good price or not. It was just the price I expected and agreed to pay.

We are going to put in some heavy duty sump pumps, because we live on a small mountain to catch the water that floods the low part of my house. They have been so good and honest. The Better Business gives them a gold star and they are much better than others that do this kind of work.
