Called after hours on Monday PM for AC service - down unit. After hours tech called back promptly and said that he had 2 jobs in front of mine but would be out "late in the evening". (No problem). Called at 11:45 and said - driving over. Called back at 11:55 said he talked to his manager and said that he couldnt come and that I would need to contact the office on Tuesday "due to safety issues". Called office on Tuesday AM - was called back and advised that nothing was available until next Tuesday (a week!) after I had already been promised service the night before. Even though they put in my unit and I have used them for years - will not return to this business based on this transaction.
Description of Work: Was supposed to fix AC unit (less than 2 years old)

fine. They were really nice and quite the sales men. they seem very knowledgeable.
Description of Work: I need a new ac unit. I am unfamiliar with the brands they use, lennox and goodman, which is fine. there estimate was 3599 but would sell me for 3000 because I didn't want to pay more than 3k. However, my other estimates did not charge me to come to my house, even though they took the 99 dollars off the price, and then some. I am unsure about if I should use them so I came here. I don't know much about the brands and which ones are reliable. I am leaning away from using them based on gut feeling only.

We only had an estimate, so from the first call to their company to recieve a quote we had somebody out here within a week. I don't remember the exact amount of days that it took but it was under a week. They were professional and seemed to meet all of my needs. They were just over priced.
Description of Work: We had an estimate for a new HVAC system in our house. This company was just over priced and the equipment that they sell (Goodman and Lennox is what they quoted us on) didn't have very good consumer reports. If I was willing to pay the prices for this type of system I might have considered using this company.

I've used them many times. They installed my heating and cooling and I've used them ever since 1997. Sometimes, I have a contract and sometimes, I don't. Because they installed the heating and cooling, I went on ahead and used them the first time. Then I felt that for the sake of continuity, I wanted the same people telling me things about my heating and cooling. For example, I didn't want one guy coming and telling me one thing, and another telling me another thing. So, I wanted that continuity and I want to be able to say, "wait a minute, that time you said blah, blah, blah." That is important to me. I wouldn't know the difference between a person that was good and not good. These people have always fixed everything the first time. Charges seem to be acceptable. They've kept my heating and cooling going for a long time. I'm told it should have gone a long time ago and it hasn't. I am going to continue using them, but, I am selling my house. I have to give them the highest rating because they've kept my heating and cooling running long after they said I shoulde have replaced it and it still is in good shape, so, I can't knock that. Their price seems to be fair. Any price is going to be more than I want to pay. I don't have anything to compare it to. Everybody can deal. I will be using them in the future and have been using them since 1997.
Description of Work: Weather Master Heating & Air came out in January or February. They come out twice a year. The last time they came out was a free service. I think their contract is close to $300 a year.

WeatherMaster Raleigh services the HVAC units in my new home since they installed them. My house was built in the fall 2011 and we moved into the house in March 2012. Since moving in, I've had a repairman from WeatherMaster visit twice. The first time, the repairman was very professional and nice, however, there was an installation issue that prevented my 2nd and 3rd floors from being cooled properly. I was told that, during installation, the wires for the 1st floor unit were "crossed" with the 2nd/3rd floor unit. This was WeatherMaster's fault as they do the installation for the builder. Once that was fixed, the 2nd and 3rd floors were cooled very nicely. Fast forward three weeks and my 2nd and 3rd floors were not being cooled again. The temp upstairs exceeded 80 degrees (although my 1st floor was still nice). The HVAC unit that controlled those floors stopped working at 7:30 PM. After doing my due diligence and looking things over, I called their customer service line at 8:15 PM and was told the on call repair person would call me back in 15-20 minutes. Fifty minutes later, I get a call from an obviously displeased repairman. He told me he had three more service calls before he'd get to me, and he could come by very, very late else he could put in an order and someone would call me the next day. I didn't want a visit at midnight, so I said the next day would be fine. They called the next day and said a repair man would visit between 12 and 5pm. Turns out it was 5 PM, and the guy that came by had close to the worst customer service skills I've ever seen. He walked in my door complaining about where he parked, was texting on his mobile device instead of talking/ to me, and said it was "ridiculous" that he had another job after mine. This continued once he got to the HVAC unit and took a phone call from another company employee. During the call, he complained that it was his birthday and he had dinner plans. He stated multiple times that he just "didn't care anymore" and wasn't going to do the next service job because it was in Chapel Hill. He stated that "we've made Select Service customers wait before." When he left, he handed me a slip and said someone would call me. Then he just walked out, but I was glad to see him go. Not only has my experience with WeatherMaster's product been unacceptable, but their customer service was disgraceful. The airflow pump needs to be replaced, and I am going to request that a different repair person be sent to my house. In the future, I will not give my business to another company.

My initial call to request a quote was handled so poorly I told them to forget it. I then got a call back with apologies and please would I allow them to quote. I agreed. They sent out a technician and later e-mailed a quote. After receiving several other quotes I called them and accepted their bid. I asked them to please coordinate with a Plumbing firm I was using to do other work so the job could be completed at the same time. At the last minute they e-mailed me and said they couldn't make contact with the Plumbing company, they had a lot of business in the next week and they were declining my job offer. Overall a waste of time and a bad experience

Frankly, I'm through with this company. The managers would not return my phone calls and only responded with a refund check after I called the Better Business Bureau, my neighbors and Angies List.
Description of Work: This was a follow-up for fixing a "water hammer" issue that did not work previously. The manager said he would refund my money if what they did on this day did not alleviate the problem. It seemed to have worked for a few hours but ultimately did not.

Their service was okay. The service guy who came out was a little bit slow and seems like it took him a long time do the work and he didn't seem to be in a hurry. In fact I had a few questions for him but I was afraid to ask him any because I would be out there all day. He was friendly but very talkative and little unfocused. He told me that I had a problem with the valve on those water heater and that would be an additional cost to fix. Honestly that was about a year ago and I haven't had any problems with the hot water heater till now or watch it blow up on me, but that doesn't mean that he was lying to me. There are a lot of people doing this kind of service and would do it better. I wouldn't use them in the future.

I actually used them prior to using Angie’s List. I hadn’t negotiated a fairly aggressive deal with them. They charged me $12800 before any discounts from the manufacturer and then from the power companies. They were more competitive with their bid because the other provider I contacted quoted about $20000. My profession is engineering and project management. I would say that working with Weather Master did require me to be involved with the project. Without my involvement, the project wouldn’t have gone as I would have expected. However, they stood behind their work and made things right. If needed, I would use them again in the future. It is a balance of cost, quality, and schedule. They were very competitive from a pricing perspective, so that kind of tipped the scales even though I did need to stay a little bit involved. They were competent in doing the work, so it is not that they weren’t competent. It required just a little bit more home owner supervision. There is not anything that Weather Master and I need to touch base with.
Description of Work: I used the services of Weather Master Heating & Air in June of 2011. I had upstairs and downstairs HVAC, heating, and air conditioning done. I have a service agreement with them.

I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER FOR 12 YEARS BUT LATELY EVERY TIME THEY COME FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE THEY HAVE A NEW REPLACEMENT OR A PRODUCT TO MAKE THE SYSTEM BETTER. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THEY ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR WAYS TO CHARGE MORE.FOR EXAMPLE, MY APRILAIRE HUMIDIFIERS NEED NEW WATER PANELS, THESE HAVE COST ME ONLY $55 (INCLUDING LABOR) IN THE PAST, THIS TIME THEY QUOTED ME A "SPECIAL CUSTOMER" RATE OF $137. I LOOKED UP ONLINE AND THESE ARE AVAILABLE DIRECTLY FROM THE MANUFACTURER FOR ONLY $19.99.I AM LOOKING FOR A NEW AND RELIABLE HVAC SERVICE PROVIDER.

We moved here from Canada seven years ago to a new home with Trane heating and A/C systems. I have had them serviced several times over the years strictly for maintenance purposed with WeatherMaster. In May of this year, we were told there was mold on the unit under the house and that if we buy the service agreement our total price for a UV light thing would be right around $700. This amount covered the light, the installation and the cost of the service agreement which would then give me a "free" heating inspection in the fall. We paid this and were told it would take care of mold issues and we would have no further worries. All systems were given a clean bill of health and documented that way on my invoice. So on my "free" furnace check up on 11/11 imagine my shock to be told we had more mold on the system under the house and needed a much better, stronger, more expensive UV light solution. Plus, all of our sudden our units were so dirty that just to clean them would be $484.82 for blower pull and clean and $320 additional for cleaning evap. coils..So, $800 for our now 2 dirty units! We were then given a list of additional items including almost $2700 for "optimal" UV systems. The grand total of our free fall furnace check was 4065.25 in suggested work. You can imagine I was stunnded with our service guy and showed him our previous invoice and then clean bill of air health. He told me he was far more thorough and thus the difference of opinion. I explained it a very firm way that his company had ripped us off in May and that something was going to have to be done and would he please speak to his company and let me know. He went outside, then came in and told me there would be no credit for the work done in May and basically was sort of like oh well there is nothing I can do. So within 5 minutes of him driving away, I get a call from the supervisor who asks me to tell him what is going on to which I say doesn't he already know and he says yes he knows but likes to get the "customer perspective" so at this point I am livid and I proceed to angrily tell him what I think of what just happened and what we had already paid for. It appears he wanted to talk though as he kept telling me "take a breath" and just let him get a word in and if I would please be quiet he had a solution to "my problem" I finally could not take it anymore and just handed the phone to my husband and I felt if he was talking to a man he certainly would not be so patronizing and honestly condescending. My husband gets on the phone and all of a sudden they are going to come out and add another UV light for free since we are so upset and would call to schedule that. Both my husband and I felt they were going to charge us for additional items once they got here and we would be on the spot. In the meantime, I called another company off of Angies list and made arrangements for them to come out which they did today. Turns out there is no additional mold, no cleaning needed and none of the suggested repairs need to be made. Shame on you WeatherMaster. And to think, we are supposed to be a preferred customer under your service contract. A warning to anyone you quote work for...get a second opinion..it may just save you thousands.

Contracted with Weathermaster for annual HVAC maintenance -- once in winter and once in summer. Work was performed adequately. When I bought the service plan (in the winter) I was told they would contact me regarding the summer maintenance the following spring. I was not called by the company but instead had to contact them for a followup visit. After maintenance was performed found a gas leak on the unit due to a stripped screw which had to be repaired by the gas company. This may have not been the fault Weathermaster, but I would have thought that this item would have been caught at one of the service points. No major issues, but I would go with another company for any additional service work.

Since they were on top of the recommended list, I asked them first for their pricing for semi-annual checkups. I never heard back from them (it's been a couple of weeks). No, they didn't end up in my spam folder and I did get responses from another vendor. This was an old service but once I joined angie's list wanted to share some good and bad past experiences. The service tech did a good job on hot water heater though I felt he wanted to keep pushing me to buy more services. On the toilet and bath tub leak I felt the price was not fair. I'm mad at myself for doing it but they charged a crazy price to fix first item (over $100 to fix leaky hot water and when I saw him do the repair it was less than 5 minutes and later leaked again). The secondary work on replacing toilet part (part that goes up and down) was ok just burns me that I felt it was pushy sales tactics and the job wasn't that good. I've since went to smaller independent plumbers and have been more happy with the work. I rated service fair because some was good and some was not - take it all in consideration and it was ok.

Used ServiceMagic.com to obtain pro's for a bid and assessment. Chose Weathermaster to perform service because they had the most professional and thorough analysis of my problem, a recommended solution that was best price, and their service guarantee was 2nd to none. They offer 10 years on labor as a guarantee and that sold me. Sales rep was courteous and professional and techs were clean, professional and diligent in their work. They installed 1 business day after I awarded them the business. I highly recommend them to anyone in the Raleigh area seeking HVAC work.

I responded to mailer for a special price for a flush. The flush was completed. I asked the plumber to check out the entire heater because it was not giving enough hot water. He recommended replacing the thermostat and both elements. I approved the cost for the job ($530) even though it sounded high. Later I priced the job with two other plumbers, and both were under $300. I have no one to blame but myself for approving the cost, but it was out of line. After thinking about the entire thing, I think it is doubtful that the thermostat and both elements would all go bad on a 4 year old water heater. I feel like their business model is set up to take advantage of people who do not know what fair charges for the services are.

So I called for a second opinion. It was simply the stack sequencer ($20) plus a $60 trip/analyis to get the system up and running. While he was there he added 3/4 pound of freon (total into both units), chemically cleaned both outside units, inspected everything...total $140. His feelings are that I should have a few more years of decent service from this unit. Provided many tips on having the system perform as long as possible. Words of wisdom....second opinions when your gut tells you.
Description of Work: My heatpump was providing cool air so I called WM and they were able to get out to my house the same day. The tech seemed to be knowledgable, friendly and talked me through his analysis of my needs. Stack sequencer ($109), potential expensive freon leak ($480 to test), clogged coils, rusting coils and the list went on and on. Never received any help from the techs experience. All I heard is that he would do whatever I want. I knew that the system had 12 years on it but I was feeling less and less sure of the analysis.

It was a horrible experience. Weather Master's Heating and Air has been excellent in the past; but this is their new plumbing division. 1)The appointment was made for 7:30am, but no one arrived until 9:45am. There seemed to be a communication breakdown w/in the company. 2) The plumber overcharged by adding sales tax, which was n/a for this kind of repair, per the Dept of Revenue. 3) I made calls to them to get this resolved. 5 voicemails went unanswered. When finally they returned my call and promised to credit me, they still didn’t. 4) I had to finally call my credit card company to get the credit to my account.
Description of Work: They did an emergency valve replacement. The initial $824.01, including tax of $54.16
