Helms Heating & Air Conditioning

It was wonderful. We had a few bumps with the system after it was installed, but they were very responsive and even had the owner come out to make sure everything was done correctly after the AC shut down once. It has been working perfect ever since. Everyone in the company was friendly, explained all of their systems and services in plain english and made us feel comfortable with what was a huge purchase for us.

I swear by them. They have been very good. They have very competitive prices, and very, very good responsiveness. They also have very good technicians. I had a new compressor heat pump unit put in, and their prices and the quality of the equipment they put in compared to a couple of the other major companies is much better. I will continue to use them.

They were fabulous. Their customer service was amazing. They took their time with my dad and explained everything. He could call them with questions and they would answer them thoroughly. Their price was good.

The service is very good. There are no problems.

They are affordable. They are polite. They follow up over the phone. They have been thorough with their service.

He allowed me the time to sit down and write down what he was telling me to do with the dampeners. He showed me on the machine how to reset it myself if it would ever occur again. It was excellent work.

It went very well. He was timely and very thorough. He did a good job of cleaning up and he went through the check-list at the end and explained everything that he did to me. I was pleased with the finished results.

I recently purchased an investment prop and the furnace did not operate. The other HVAC company (who performed the inspection) quoted the job but seems a little high. I took advantage of the free diagnostic from Helms for a 2nd opinion, but the tech has to go ahead to fix the igniter in order to see if the rest of the unit works. Helms was slightly more expensive on that part of the job. It works after replacing that part. My unit also needed to be serviced, but the tech could not perform on that day. That tech was not as prepared as I would have liked. I ended up making another appt for the maintenance service and joined the maintenance plan ($129 a year). The lady in the office was nice enough to honor the 15% off parts discount for plan member for the igniter job. The service part of the job was great. A different tech took a long time with the unit. He (Mike) found the other problem (which the 1st tech didn't but I was aware from my initial inspection) and quoted a better price.

The guy that came out was very nice and informative. He took his time and explained everything very thoroughly. I was happy with everything. The price was very reasonable.

I had described the problem over the phone beforehand. So the repairman came, put on shoe coverings so as not to mess up the floor, and inspected the area to be fixed. He gave a verbal quote on the spot and said the job wouldn't take very long.

We're pleased with the work now that it is finished, but it was kind of a hassle dealing with them. The first time Earl came out, I had to explain to him how the coupon worked. Then when they came out to replace the covers (after canceling our first appointment at the last minute), Earl had not measured correctly and we had to reschedule. For this second visit, I asked them to call me before he was coming to the house and they did not do this, which was inconvenient. I got a call for the third visit 30 minutes before they were going to show up, but they had not told me they were coming that day. All in all, it was frustrating that it took 3 visits to complete the work, and I did not find them easy to work with on the scheduling of the visits.

They were polite, knowledgeable and gave me prices over the telephone. Then sent a written contract for me to look over. Decided to go with another company that was less expansive.

They came when they said they would. Very prompt, courteous and exacting.

I signed a service contract with Helms to service my AC and Furnace. The gentleman came out to service my AC unit. He noticed that I was low on freon and replaced it. He noted that it might be a leak and they will follow-up to check on it next season. They were timely and very helpful.

I didn't choose these guys, but it was very nice to get someone on the phone who would actually talk numbers with me! I'd definitely consider them in the future.

The technicians were prompt and professional and kept me updated on the progress of the work. Helm's flat rate pricing undoubtedly saved me hundreds in labor because my job took 2 technicians over 6 hours to complete. I would definitely recommend and use this company again.

Earl, the technician was friendly but he was late and did not seem too concerned about making sure the AC would work. When he said I needed to schedule a leak test I asked him to schedule it then. I was desperate to have a cool house -since I could not leave my house due to recovering from surgery. When I called on Monday 7/3 to beg for someone to really fix the problem - again no one seemed to understand I had to get the AC working then.

Helms did what they said they would do but the fella was very "salesy" and it was costly.

Earl was the service tech assigned. He was very professional and honest. I could have been told that the fan motor needed to be replaced, and I would not have even questioned it. I was told about their preventative maintenance program, and besides the several inspection visits a year, I received a 15% discount on all parts. I signed up..

I was impressed that they have since sent a Thank You card with a customer response questionnaire.

The man was very nice. Gave us an estimate of 642 dollars. We were actually able to get the same work done for half the price.

The workers arrived on time, and accomplished the work quickly and neatly.

Angie's List really works! We got several bids for this job, including Helms based on their Angie's reports. They were one of the lower bids, but seemed to have the best potential for a positive experience, and it was. These guys were very professional, punctual, and responsive. Since we did not have them out to perform a site inspection at the time of bid, they ended up needing to do some additional work to prep our heating system to accept the new humidifier per Honeywell specifications because of the design of our specific system. This was at an additional cost to us, but through no fault of Helms; they did not pressure us in any way. I have already recommended Helms to a neighbor for a similar job. Soon after work was completed, we received a ''thank you'' and evaluation card in the mail for the services performed. Obviously these guys care about customer satisfaction!

Steve was great. It's been two weeks since his visit and all is running smoothly with the furnace. He was very polite, on time, and helpful. I was amazed that he was willing, even suggested, that I call the gas company while he was here, so he could explain the situation to them. He hung around while I was on hold! I couldn't be happier than I am/was with the experience.

Even though they didn't get the bid, this company was a very close second. Mr. George also offered to help me resolve any problems that may have occurred once the furnace was installed. Very courteous and responsive service.
