Jaime Griffin and Helms Heating & Air Conditioning have performed Maintenance Inspections and Repairs on our Heating and Cooling Units for many years! Jaime suggests what necessary repairs are needed. He is very professional and extremely knowledgeable! Our Heating / Cooling Units are Eighteen Years Old and I truly believe that they would not have made it this long without Jaime's care! He does an excellent job! Communication with the salesperson was excellent in determining which unit was best for our space. They gave us a prompt estimate and completed the work promptly and did a good job with clean-up. Their estimate was more reasonable than others we checked with. They also made arrangements for no interest payments over three years. We have noticed a positive difference in our energy bills. We purchased a service agreement from them where they come out twice a year. This allows for a discount on parts with the service agreement.

They arrived on time and were very professional. The service techinician inspected the units and reported they were in good working order, but they did show signs of age (system is 7 years old). About three weeks after this inspection, the system malfunctioned, and would not come on. This happened on a Saturday. We placed a call, and another technician came out within two hours. He indicated he was familiar with the system, and the system was not installed by them, but was installed inproperly. When questioned - he would not provide specifics. I asked him to provide a complete quote to either fix the system or replace it. He advised he needed to speak with his boss, but would call back to set up another appointment and go over everything. His visit on Saturday cost $89, since we had the service contract with them. When he left, the system was working, but he cautioned that the problem would happen again - due to the faulty installation. We never heard from them again. No call back, no schedule to assess the system, no quote to fix or replace. About one week ago, the system failed again. Our neighbors use another service contractor, and they were at their home the day the system failed. They cam over and inspected our system, gave us a quote to re-hab the system or replace the downstairs unit. They spent about anhour going over everything and did not charge us for the visit! We received a quote from them the next day. We opted to replace the unit, sinice the cost to re-hab the system was over 50% of the cost to replace. We then called Helms to advise of the situation, and request they refund part of our annual service fee, since we decided not to use them again - considering they never called back or acted as if they cared about our problem. They refused to refund any part of the service fee - simply stating they "do not refund service contract fees". NOT a good business move.

Representative was consistently prompt and detailed in response to questions. Followed thru installers also courteous & responsive.

We have been using them since '97. They do excellent work. They installed both of our units. The staff is wonderful to work with. They are prompt. I can't say enough good things about them.

A service rep. came out to give us a price for a new unit. After several questions about out lifestyle and usage he gave us a quote. The quote was for 4 different quality systems, what the difference of the systems and the cost of each system. He also went over different payment types. At no time did I feel that he was trying to pressure into a sale of what system to buy. After he was done I told him that I was also getting other quotes. The next day I called Helms to inform them that I would have them do the work and what unit I wanted. The time was scheduled and the installers were on time. The installation went well and the clean up also went very good.

The serviceman / salesman was knowledgeable, didn't oversell. Took picture for installers. Installers were on time, focused on the job, very courteous.

Helms technicians were on time, were very neat in their work & reasonably priced.

Technicians were careful to use shoe covers. Arrived promptly and completed work in a tidy and timely manner. Very courteous and professional, taking the time to clarify some confusion created in the past by another contractor regarding the heating & air system. Will contract with Helms for yearly routine maintenance. Office staff is also very helpful and polite.

I called Helms in response to a reminder postcard from them about my contractual checkup for winter. Scheduling the service was a breeze with Helms being especially helpful in making sure time was available to service all three systems. The service technician was prompt and stayed additional time in order to complete the entire checkup. I found Helms after being very disappointed by another local company. Helms installed a new heat pump for me two years ago and the system runs perfectly. If I have need for their services they are prompt and always call ahead if they can make the appointed time or come earlier. Only once were they delayed and I was made aware of the situation. I have an annual contract with this company and am totally and completely satisfied with their work.

Excellent service, pricing & installation.

They are a good company. Their prices are good and their people are reliable. I have been very pleased with them. My earlier heat pump was 27 years old and it was way beyond its recommended life. I replaced it with a 3-ton air handler and compressor. They removed the old one from underneath the house and installed the new one. I paid $5900 for the job. It was like clock work. They were very good. I think that they know their job really well and they do it without bothering the customer at all. They are competitively priced. They are experienced and qualified. There are no hassles with them. I would use them again in the future.

Helms has worked on our HVAC system for years & managed wonderfully to keep an old unit operating as long as possible. In December when it died they said there were no more cures for it. Giving us quotes for a new unit, they were thorough & clear in outlining various costs & benefits. Their schedule was so full, they could not install the new system for 2 weeks from order date (Brrrr....) but removed the old one & put in the new one on the appointed day in a very few hours. As always they were prompt, pleasant, professional & skilled, and left things cleaner than they found them. We will continue calling them whenever necessary.

Requested a quote to replace to old, inefficient HVAC units in our home with high efficiency Carrier units. Also rerouted some duct work to improve air flow/comfort. Added humidifier and dehumidifier options. The time from quote, to acceptance and installation was about 2 weeks. We had one system failure immediately after installation which was repaired within one day, at no charge to us. Overall, very satisfied with the performance of the units, so far.

The job went very well. They were honest, punctual, knowledgeable, and professional. They came when I called and they fixed the problem. I didn't have any problems at all.

Mr. Helms game me a very efficient, well organized presentation for my options. Knew I had some potential serious problems and wanted to take advantage of the energy rebate. He was very knowledgeable about the rebate which my old service provider was not. He came and introduced his workmen in the morning and gave me all needed paperwork which was explained very clearly. Permits had been obtained and inspections set up. All went very well-inspections completed! A very smooth time! I did not do comparison shopping-wanted a local person. Angie's List helped as did BBB.

We have used Helms for years & are very happy with their service. Our HVAC system is old & we're nursing it along as long as possible with Helms' good support. There is a small leak which requires the occasional addition of more freon, which they did this time. They have been extremely helpful with other a/c problems too. Very pleasant, prompt, quick, and they always explain the problem thoroughly & present alternative fixes. Plan to continue using them as long as we're here!

I called Helms Heating and Air to trouble shoot a problem with an A/C unit in a rental property. They informed me that the technician would call with an arrival time. I got a call from the technician at 4:07pm. He informed me that he would be arriving at the property in 45 minutes. He also informed me that I had to be present because he had to get paid. I have done business with Helms Heating in the past and usually took care of any expenses via credit card over the phone and informed him of this but he reiterated that he had to get paid. I informed him that I would be present. I arrived at the property at 4:50pm. At 5:20pm, thirty minutes later, I called the technician. He apologized and informed me he was running late. He said he should be arriving in 15 minutes. The tenant had a sign posted in the front door requesting that everyone entering should remove their shoes before walking on the carpet. The technician did not have any protective coverings for his feet, but he did not remove his shoes when walking on the carpet. He also did not have any clothing or decals to affiliate himself with Helms Heating and Air. Upon entering the house, he took note of a dirty air filter. I informed him that I would run to the store to purchase a new one. Upon returning he had finished. I requested that he install a new thermostat, but he informed me that it would cost an additional service charge of $129.00. He then suggested that I do it myself. He then gave me a bill that he had hand written out on the back of a scrap piece of paper (The reverse side is a photocopy of an old Airflow Measurements for Electric Heaters Chart). After I gave him my credit card, he remarked that he did not know if the charges would clear on the credit card and requested a check. I told him that I would be using the credit card for payment. I also informed him that I did not think that his behavior was quite unprofessional and was not appreciated. After the technician left, I spoke to the tenant to access their opinion of the services. They felt that the job was completed but with an attitude. They felt that working on a weekend was an inconvenience for the technician and maybe he should look into another line of work. I came to that same conclusion.
