Description of Work: Had issue with AC fan not turning on. After explaining the issue, the technician quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced the part. The technician was professional and courteous. He called prior to arriving and did arrive within the two-hour prescheduled window. I feel the price was appropriate. I feel comfortable recommending Helms Heating & AC.

Description of Work: I went with Helms based on their Angie's List track record. There were several well-rated companies, but the thing that put Helms over the top was the free diagnostics coupon for Angie's List customers. That saved me between $70-$90 (and more than paid for my yearly subscription to the list.) Customer service was excellent. They gave me a 2 hour time frame and were right on time, even calling to let me know the serviceman was in my area and would be arriving soon. Bill looked at our unit and, based on its age, recommended I just replace the freon and skip the leakage test. This made sense to me, since I'll probably need to replace the a/c in the next year or so anyway. He also provided me with an estimate for a new system when I'm ready, but there was no high pressured sales pitch. He was very courteous, and even wore shoe covers to protect my carpet when he checked the thermostat. I would highly recommend Helms and will use them again.

I CALLED ON A MONDAY, AND, DUE TO THE SUDDEN HEAT IN THE CITY, THE EARLIEST THEY COULD ARRIVE WAS THE NEXT DAY- SOONER THAN A FEW OTHERS I HAD SPOKEN TO. SENT OUT ONE OF THEIR REPAIR GUYS, WHO CALLED 10 MINUTES BEFORE ARRIVAL TO LET ME KNOW HE WAS ON THE WAY (AND WAS ON TIME). EXPLAINED WHAT THE PROBLEMS WERE, GAVE ME THREE OPTIONS, AND NEVER PUSHED ME INTO THE MOST EXPENSIVE ONE. LEFT A QUOTE IN CASE I WANTED TO REPLACE THE UNIT, AS WELL AS HIS CELL NUMBER IF I HAD ANY OTHER PROBLEMS THAT DAY. WORE SHOE COVERS IN THE HOUSE, AND WAS VERY PLEASANT.

WHEN I CALLED THE COMPANY AT 8:00 ON MONDAY MORNING, THE RECEPTIONIST AT HELMS SCHEDULED SOMEONE TO COME OUT TO LOOK AT OUR SYSTEM. I WENT TO WORK AND CAME HOME WHEN HE WAS SUPPOSED TO COME. HE CAME RIGHT WHEN SHE SAID HE WOULD, AND WORKED QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY. HE WAS VERY POLITE AND HELPFUL! I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH HIS WORK, AND HIS ATTITUDE!
Description of Work: MIKE MILLER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A BROKEN SWITCH, AND GOT THE AIR CONDITIONING TO WORK FOR ME. HE DESCRIBED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SWITCH SO THAT WE COULD DO IT OURSELVES TO SAVE MONEY. HE ALSO GAVE ME TIPS ON HOW TO IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF OUR AC UNIT, AND DESCRIBED THEIR SERVICE PLAN.

MY LATEST COMPLAINT IS THAT I DID CALL FOR SERVICE ON FRIDAY AND GOT A RESPONSE MONDAY. WE LEFT TWO MESSAGES ON MACHINE AND THEY NEVER GOT BACK TO ME. IM JUST DISSATISFIED WITH OUR UNIT BECAUSE WE HAD CONSTANT PROBLEMS. WE HAVE HAD VARIOUS PROBLEMS. IT SEEMS LIKE WE HAVE HAD THE STARTER NOT FUNCTIONING, ELEMENTS NOT FUNCTIONING, AND THE THERMOSTAT MALFUNCTIONING. ITS NEVER HEATED THE HOUSE VERY WELL. WERE LOOKING FOR A NEW COMPANY AND A NEW UNIT.
