AIR CENTRAL OF THE CAROLINAS

Early October we had Air Central of the Carolinas to replace our Gas Pack with a new American made Standard Gas Pack/ AC Unit. We also had them to replace the thermostat, make some duct work repairs, provide carbon dioxide detectors, relocated the breaker box, and replace an exhaust fan motor in the attic. I had three companies come out, check my unit, and give me a quote. As I told Wesley, I selected Air Central of the Carolinas, not because they were the cheapest, they were not. I choose them because Wesley was truthful and honest with me, and the other two companies, in my opinion, were not truthful with me. In fact, one of them I immediately caught in a lie. Two said I would have to have a crane set the unit in place. Wesley told me that his crew would place it in by hand. They removed two side rails on my desk and placed it in by hand - saving me a lot of money. The work was high quality, you cannot even see where they removed the rails and reattached them. One company told me that no one made a unit that would fit in the space and pass inspection - another lie. They showed up to do the work when promised. I told Welsey that when the unit passed inspection, I would write him a check. It did and I did. It was great dealing with someone who knows their equipment and tells you the truth about what they can and will do, and then follows through. Another thing I appreciated about Wesley, he told me that there was a Duke Energy rebate that the unit qualified for - I didn't know that and no other company mentioned it to me. Air Central of the Carolinas handled all of the paperwork and about a month later we received a $425 rebate from Duke Energy - that was on top of another credit they had already provided. They did not have to do that, and the other companies did not mention a rebate when they made their bids. It was a great experience and Air Central of the Carolinas did everything Wesley promised me they would do. The installation comes with a full year of free service, after which I plan to place it under an ongoing annual contract. I am sixty years old and worked with numerous companies seeking bids for churches, for Charlotte Christian College and Theological Seminary, and for our home. I am most satisfied with Air Central of the Carolinas, and I will not hesitate to use them again.

It was amazing. They came out the same day that I called them for service. Tate was professional, courteous, polite, friendly and knowledgeable. The price was reasonable and he didn't pressure us to purchase something we didn't need. We did purchase their maintenance agreement because it was a good value for the price. They have our business for life.

Inspector opened Gas Pack and immediately found a hole in the heat exchange--our home inspection did not find this (but it did recommend that we have an HVAC inspection due to the age of the units at the home). I'm so glad we checked this--we will not have the seller's install a new heat exchanger before we take ownership. Inspector was a bit late for the appointment, but that was due to accidents on the freeway that delayed all traffic. He did a thorough and professional job. There is a gas fireplace in the home and inspector thought he smelled gas, so he did an additional test to insure there was no leak.

They came out in June and then they had to order the parts and it was July when they finished, maybe the first part or middle, and the inspector came out in August but it failed. It didn't pass inspection, so the inspector has to come back out again. It's been completed, but it hasn't passed inspection as of yet. It was $9200 and I'm still just twisting my head around that. So far, the experience was fantastic. The guy was knowledgeable and he very, very, nice. I really enjoyed speaking with him. He dealt with my husband after that because I'm pretty sick. I just have a few I'm not sure about. He told me one thing like it was a 4 ton unit and we weren't going to have to put our air filters upstairs any more, it was just going to be downstairs. When the guys came in to install it, they said that it was going to be a pain in the butt to do the one downstairs, you should still do the upstairs. Well, that's not what he told me. So, now I'm confused and then the inspector came and didn't pass it. He said it could be a 3.5 to a 4 ton downstairs. Well, no, it's either a 3.5 or it's a 4, it can't be a 3.5 or a 4. I'm a little confused as to what unit we have. My paper says 4 so when the inspector comes out we're going to nail him down and say, "what do we have" because we paid for a 4 ton unit. $9200 is a 4 ton unit. They were great to work with but what they did and when the inspector didn't pass it was they left a few raw wires. The inspector was like, "they should have very well known about this. This is not going to happen". I talked to other people and I even got a quote from him and it was still only $6100. I'm still trying to figure out what is the different between the 2? The quality, as far as I'm concerned, was okay except for the raw wires. We wouldn't have even known about that, had the inspector not found it. So, therefore, as far as I was concerned, was okay, except for the unit did not work properly when they first installed it. It was on a return/repeat so it wasn't cooling so I had to call them back out. The unit's great. Don't get me wrong. It's cooling, it's fantastic, it works great. We haven't gotten our first real light bill yet, because they bill you two months in advance, but the price I don't know. Once it passes inspection and we know it's a 4 ton unit then I'll be better about that and I can wrap my head around that. His responsiveness is awesome. When we told him there was a problem, he came right back out. I would use them again only because they installed it and know what they had done.

I have a service agreement with them. They come twice a year. They come in the spring to get me ready for the summer, and they come in the fall to get me ready for the winter. They've serviced my unit for about 12 years. They've replaced when I needed to replace both my units. They did the work, and I have no issues with them. They come twice a year and do what I have to do. If I have any issue with the units, I call them and they're right there. I have recommended them to lots of people.

Excellent! My phone call inquiries were well received and the staff made a huge effort to get my AC working again right away. They sent out a tech later that afternoon, which is an example of customer service (without overcharging for "emergency" work) for other contractors to follow. Carl N, the technician, was incredibly professional, genuine, and polite. He was very thorough and I could tell he was doing a little more than what he probably had to. My only complaint is the angie's list coupon was for a $120 HVAC service call, but it's unclear what exactly that means. I had to pay several hundred more dollars for the visit and it seemed like the $120 coupon did't really apply or mean anything. I could be wrong though.

From what I recall, it was a good value. The services were very thorough. They explained how the system works and the maintenance that would be required. We were pleased. I think what they did well was recommend the correct size unit for our home and installed it on a timely basis.

There was no cost. It took them at least more than one visit to identify the problem. The first 2 technicians were unable to resolve the problem and then by the third time they were finally able to figure it out.

The technician isolated the problem (a worn out starter) and took the time to check and verify that the motor was working properly and in good shape. He did not try to upsell, or tell me I needed a new heating and air conditioning system as some companies might have done. I was charged only for the service call and the one replacement part. I felt that their charge was fair and a nice bonus was that they honored their $25. discount (to Angie's List members). The technician, Carl N., was very knowledgeable, professional, courteous, respectful and patient and took the time to explain things to me. Obviously, I was very impressed on all counts. When I need future work, I will ABSOLUTELY use Air Central of the Carolinas!

I did not use. But, great customer service and very prompt and on time.

The price was fair and competitive. They were fine, both the people in the office and the people that came out. There were four workers, they were good and it took 4 1/2 hours to complete the job.

That was excellent. We had to have our second floor air conditioning fixed. It was getting hot and humid again. So, they had it done in the time that they said they were going to do it. Took the front afternoon, and its been fine.

It was excellent. Very good recommendations. I was able to do myself, which saved us some money. They come when they said they were going to come. Yes, and in fact I am going to use them again. Its been excellent, its been very fair, accurate, great troubleshooting of the system. My system has had multiple leaks before. They identified everyone, and fixed them. They found things wrong, that other people who have walked down the system, failed to fine. So, that is why I stuck with them. They are my third attempt in North Carolina, and they are the ones who have worked out.

Honestly I hired them to installed my H Vac unit for my upstairs so I used them because that's where my warranty.

I feel like they were honest and very frank with the condition of my air conditioners. I will use them again when and if needed.

I got quotes from four well-reviewed companies on Angie's List to install a new HVAC system in my house. (We did not have central air or heat previously.) Two quotes were around $11,000 range, while a couple more were about $9,000 or below. Air Central's quote was the best, and I was impressed by Wesley who came out to walk through the house and explain my opinions. In addition to the Angie's List reviews I had a friend who had heard good things about them, so I went with them. The team who did my installation was Zach and Os and they did an excellent job. They were very prompt and professional and got the work done ahead of schedule. I work from home, so they had to work around my schedule when they were doing work in my home office, but they were accommodating and communicated clearly about what needed to be done when. I could not have been more pleased with their work. There was a bit of trouble with the electrical installation, but that was because I live in a home from 1970 which was apparently wired by monkeys. Through no fault of their own, something they did affected a different circuit which had been wired incorrectly. They went out of their way, though, to immediately make things right. They also rushed a team out to re-level the furnace the same day when they noticed that the ground had sunk beneath one end of it (I hadn't noticed). Overall, I was very pleased with Air Central's service and would recommend them to friends.

Great experience overall that started with a detailed quote which was less expensive an better prepared/explained than others. The installation was done on time and very professionally with attention to details. The crew worked 1 day on downstairs and 3 days on upstairs, replacing an re-doing the ducts + installed redundant water detection system in case the evaporator leaks (not in the quote but still being done). I cannot be happier with the work performed by ACC and would definitively do it again with them. We picked the high end variable speed units which are way more complex than the previous unit we had (serial communication between all units and thermostat, flashing LED and electronics all over the place) and went through some early errors reported by the thermostat that were quickly diagnosed and resolved by ACC (one cable for a sensor in outdoor unit was cut and had to be replaced - how did this go through American Standard Manufacturing QA test is the question?) There was a $1,800 manufacturer discount that was no accounted for when i did the final check, but a quick call to ACC and I received the rebate check from them a couple days later - no big deal. So, in conclusion very happy with ACC and I would recommend them.

I was out of town when our A/C went out. My wife called Air Central of the Carolinas because our regular service company couldn't get to us until the next day. The tech came out early in the morning and quickly told her it was the motor starter that was bad. He told her the part cost $180.00 and the service call was $120.00. She called me and told me what he said. I spoke to him on the phone and he kept telling me it was the motor starter that was bad, even when I asked if he was referring to the compositor. He would not say it was the compositor. My guess is because he knew I would know that is something simple and low cost. My experience is he was calling it a motor starter to make it sound more serious and expensive. I allowed him to replace the part, which he replaced in less than five minutes. I would not ever recommend a company who way over charges for a part. A compositor normally cost in the range from $6.00 to $20.00. This is something a homeowner themselves can buy from Lowe's or Home Depot and replace for a few dollars. My issue is not the cost of the labor but, way over charging for the part. I understand adding a little cost to the part due to having to keep in stock, but not as much as he charged.

Service was prompt and efficient. Fortunately the issue was minor.....replacement of starter.... Overall satisfied with servise

Both teams came to my house on Saturday at 730 and started working right away on both units. By mid afternoon, they are able to swap out old systems with new systems and restore the AC to the house. Wesley also coordinated with me on city inspections and rebate form preparation. Overall the experience is excellent. AirCentral takes of my needs nicely.

Terrific. I had called 10 different shops before I called Air Central. Even though Air Central was the last one I called, they were the first one that had a service technician call me back, and he was able to come right out. This is on a Sunday morning in the middle of summer. Technician was extremely competent, diagnosed problem immediately and had spare part on truck. I will consider this company for future work, including for my primary residence.
