 + -1 moreI went over our issue from previous evening, that it was making a loud noise when the heat tried to start. He checked the unit and discovered it needed vacuum hose cleaning and vent fan induction motor. He checked for available parts, and found our motor at warehouse. After giving us the estimate to replace, we talked about the maintenance contract, and if we signed up for annual services we would receive 15% discount for parts, as well as a discounted service call. Decided to accept the maintenance contract, an received immediate discount for the current service call and parts. We decided to accept based on our first impression with the company's quick response, and helpfulness to eliminate our problem. Corey was very knowledgeable, and professional thru the whole process. After finding the part at warehouse for us, it was too late in day for installation. Warehouse was closing in approx. 10 mins and was on other side of town. He told me he'd install next day, but didn't know the company had already filled it with appointments. Here's the really great thing that I believe sealed their importance for our repeat business. Corey called next day and said he told management he'd already promised to install out motor next day, and it was worked out for that to happen. Great service company, great employee in Corey, great management response, and extremely happy customers! We've found our service company for life.
Description of Work: We needed a service contract for our HVAC unit, and just so happened night before we made our choice, the heat went out in out unit. It is only about 5 years old but original company is no longer in business, so there was a need for future maintenance. We chose Tier 1 from Angies List as always for home repairs and maintenance. Placed a call Monday morning, and was told someone wound meet us that afternoon between 2 and 4. At 3:30 Corey called and said he would be at house in approx. 10 minutes.

 + -1 more. I was also told that would be covered with the spring tune-up, but not the fall. I can see a cleaning would be annually limited, but seasonal limited? It cost an additional 300 dollars to have it done because I was convinced it was needed, and I'm sure it was. But.....
Description of Work: I purchased the maintenance plan through Angie's List. However, I was told both units needed the evaporator coils and vents cleaned.

 + -1 moreI’ve had them since I had the house. I wouldn’t use anybody else. That’s why I kept them, they were just absolutely incredible. They took care of everything for me and showed me how to use the thermostats because they were digital. They gave me an idea of what I should do in regard to the vents, registers on how to clean them and things of that nature. They were terrific. They are very, very competitive with everybody else and you call them and they show up. It’s not like they give you a whole song and dance that they’ll be there tomorrow but they couldn’t make it and the rain and all that, that doesn’t happen. When they tell you they are coming on a Tuesday, they are coming on a Tuesday. They are coming again in mid-October to do my fall check-up.
Description of Work: When the house was built, Tier One installed the air conditioning and heating in the house. They came out to check out the unit.

 + -1 moreI had some parts replaced. I spent a little over $1000 for the repairs that needed to be made to the unit. They were very very professional. But then, a couple of days later, my unit went out again. When I called them back, he said that it was ants and that there was a big problem with ants that crawl up into the unit and impede the flow of electricity. So, he charged me $165 to spray poison on it. He said "Normally we do that when we first come out," and he goes,"but, I didn't do it because I didn't see any ants." I said, "Well, it wasn't working, you wouldn't have seen any ants." So I had to pay an additional $165 and most of that was for him, having to come back into the house. That pissed my husband off, but what am I going to do? Those kinds of things happen in construction. That I understand. But with his professionalism and that type of thing, I didn't have any problems with him. I think that since he said that South Carolina's ant problems is the number one thing they see, he should have known to treat my system before he left, after he repaired it, especially since one part was $600 and the other one was almost the same, to replace. I just felt like he should have treated it since he already knew that was a problem. The prices were a little high, but I had read in their site too that they weren't the cheapest. I understand too that cheapest isn't always the best. They were very quick and very professional too.

 + -1 moreMy experience with Tier One felt like a comedy of errors. I made an appointment for Tuesday at 12:00. On Monday at 11:45, they called to say they were almost to my address. Their scheduler had recorded the day wrong. It turned out they also had the completely wrong address and were looking for my house in a nearby town. When they arrived, Brad and his partner were friendly and professional and apologized for the mistake. They seemed to know their stuff and I was impressed. They talked me through the installation process and told me they'd send an estimate. On Wednesday, I still hadn't gotten the estimate, so I emailed Brad. On Friday, he emailed back and said he'd look into it. The following Monday, I finally got an automated email with the estimate. The estimate itself was pretty reasonable. It was a bit cheaper than another estimate I got, but both of them were quite a bit more expensive than the company I'm planning to hire. The estimate itself was detailed and included multiple helpful options. Tier One has enough good reviews that I suspect maybe I just got unlucky, but based on my experience I was not impressed with the professionalism of the company.

 + -1 moreThe good thing is they responded and sent someone out to our house immediately. Like within 3 hours. I was impressed by that. The young man who came out diagnosed our problem as a broken capacitor and it just so happened that 2 of my neighbors had the same problem just a week before us. Tier One was charging us $305 and both my neighbors paid LESS THAN HALF that. So I'm giving this company a C b/c I did appreciate how quickly they came out, and I used Angie's coupon for a $39 diagnosis, but I won't be calling them today b/c of the outrageous pricing. FYI, I called someone else and he replaced the capacitor for $125 and now we're cool and comfortable.
Description of Work: Our A/C stopped working out of the blue and I called Tier One Air after finding them on Angie's list. The good thing is they responded and sent someone out to our house immediately. Like within 3 hours. I was impressed by that.

 + -1 moreThe Tier One technician arrive when promised and quickly diagnosed the problem. He did not have an exact match for the need part, but had a capacitor that would get the unit working. He install that capacitor and said that someone would be by the next day to put in the correct part. The unit worked fine until the next morning when as promised a different technician arrive and installed the correct sized capacitor for our unit. The service experience was excellent. So much so that I signed up for their maintenance program (which they discounted because of their recent work) and it was less expensive than comparable programs from other vendors. Over all it was an excellent experience.
Description of Work: HVAC repair. The unit was working, but the air was not cool. It turns out the capacitor in the unit was bad.

 + -1 moreThey did what they said they would do. I am relatively satisfied. I liked that they were pretty prompt in responding. I disliked that they made me go through the dispute process for something they listed in their offer that they did not do. It was a lot of back and forth and it took two months for them to finally just do what they initially said they would do anyways. The work turned out fine. Changing a filter is a pretty standard work.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for Tier One Heating & Air. I basically requested them to change my air filter which they did not do the first time and they did it.

 + -1 moreThey told us they would not give us any money back. We had to contact the maker of the pump ourselves to get a refund????????????? The was very rude on the phone. We signed up for a maintenance plan but have decided to cancel with this company after what happened.
Description of Work: We had Tier 1 heating and Air, an Angies List company put in a new AC Unit in our home about a year and 7 months ago. We had another unit for almost 18 years before this one. A couple days ago the AC unit quit working. WOW!! Only after 1 year and 7 months???? We called the company to come and fix it. They said the AC had only a one year warranty. They said we should have signed up for a maintenance plan with them for them to fix it. Our other unit we had for 18 years and we did not have trouble with it? We just replaced it to upgrade our house!!! My husband had already figured out that the condenser pump was not working before they came. They brought a new pump which took about 10 minutes to replace and wanted to charge us $300.00. We did talk them down to 250.00 because we thought the price was high for a almost new unit. We later looked up the part online and found out it sold for retail price of $50. However, this part had a 2 YEAR WARRANTY!!!!! We couldn't believe that!! We were charged $250.00 for a part to be replaced that was still under warranty??? We we called the company they said they would NOT HONOR THE TWO YEAR WARRANTY FOR THE PART. WE WOULD HAVE TO CALL THE COMPANY THAT MAKES THE PART OURSELVES TO GET A REFUND FOR THAT??????? Actually we had to contact them 2 times to get a response. What the ****??? What kind of company doesn't even honor the manufacturers warranty on a part that they provided. I am also very upset the AC already went out after about a year and a half????????????? I don't feel the price we were charged was fair and I can't believe the AC already broke!! WOW!!!! I want a 200 refund!! This is bad business practices!!!

They call after they finish work to make sure everything is okay. If something happens after the work, they fix it without charging us.
Description of Work: They installed the heating and a/c in our new house. They also fixed our dryer vents. The last time they came in they did a seasonal check on the entire unit. We had a leak on the attic and they fixed it.

 + -1 moreWhen we bought our new home in North Carolina, they are the ones that had installed it. We had an issue in the beginning and they came out and fixed it. We decided to keep them as our service providers and they offer excellent service and they are always on time and I think their prices are reasonable. Actually I don't think we paid anything because we have a service agreement with them. They really are great. They are always on time and call to make sure that everything is okay afterwards. If they've been here once and something happens after that, something they should have caught, they end up not charging us for that. They are really very good.
Description of Work: They did a seasonal check on the entire unit and everything and made suggestions because we had a little bit of air leaking out of the attic.

 + -1 moreI found Tier 1 Heating & Air off of Angie's List due to their $109 tune up special for the AC / heating unit. I have been experiencing issues with mine so called them up. They were able to come out during the same week to do the tune up. It came to my attention that my HVAC system had been leaking, and was 11 years old. After being given my options, the service rep Cody filled up the unit with Freon, and scheduled a sales rep out to take a look. About 2 days later, I worked with Brad (sales rep) who confirmed everything from the previous visit, but also recommended that I install a zoning system for better comfort and increase efficiency. We went over the options and I decided to go through with it. They came out about a week later to do the install. Not only did they fix the issue, but they also credited my $485 that I spent on Freon to my new service so I wasn't out that money. The job took about 7 hours to do, and now I have a nice cool house, and the unit is working great! Brad & the Tier 1 team did such a great job, and was so efficient, I will recommend them to anyone.

Shane called at 5pm letting me know that he would arrive around 5:30pm. He was on time, professional and friendly. He went to work diagnosing and fixing the problem. The cost seems a little high to me, even with 2 Angie's List coupons. However, I do believe rush jobs should cost more. They were super quick and professional. Our house was really heating up, so it's nice to have the A/C well working again!
