Description of Work: Technician was very knowledgeable about refrigerators and gave us great advice on whether to have it fixed or not. We ultimately bought a new one because it was too expensive to repair. He also gave great advice on the best fridge to choose.

Description of Work: They were excellent. Used them for repair of LG refrigerator and washing machine. Great both times! Though it has been several years since they have been to my house, if the same folks are running the business, then I highly endorse them. If the business was sold and they are not the same ones, then I can't speak to their service. However, the appliance magnet stays on my refrigerator, hope they are the same as several years ago.

This was the second replacement on parts of a refrigerator that was purchased in March 2013. It is an LG french door. The ice in the ice maker does not always go down the chute and clogs up in the upper chamber. The refrigerator had an error message on the door, and LG was called. Kernen is their warranty repair group. The people there tried to schedule as soon as possible, but we were told it would be early into the next week. I was concerned that the food in the freezer would thaw and spoil, because the people at LG told me to unplug the frig and then wait an hour and plug in again. The repair personnel made a stop that day to check on the frig. It was still working, but receiving the error message, and he told me I didn't have to unplug the frig it would be alright until they could get the parts and install them. The parts were backordered by LG as this wasapparently an issue with other refrigerators. When the part came in they called and scheduled within two days. They came out and replaced the fan, and another part in the freezer, along with the computer board. They were very quick, friendly, efficient, and knew all about the problem and they serviced several different of types of appliances. They answered any questions that I had with no reluctance. I was very impressed. The refrigerator had to be repaired again in January , it had originally been repaired in November. Apparently they had upgraded the computer board again because they were still having issues with the ice maker. Kernens came out again. They asked what the error message was and ordered the part before coming out. Again the part was on backorder from LG. When it came in they came out within two days and took care of it. If there are other issues with any of our other appliances I would call Kernens. I am pleased with service.

Every step of the process/repair went just exactly like the provider explained it would during our initial phone call. Repair was done promptly, and provider was extremely knowledgeable, professional, polite and timely. John was able to give me an exact price quote before coming out, and that quote did not change after the service was completed. I will definitely call on Kernens for our next appliance repair need.
Description of Work: We were having an issue with ice forming under the deli drawer of our refrigerator. Provider was able to diagnose the issue over the phone, order the necessary parts and repair the refrig. all within a 3 day time period.

We called this morning and had the repair person (John) standing in our house ready to fix it at 10:30 am. Such quick and VERY efficient service. The two technicians were very nice and professional!! I would recommend them over and over!! And they will definitely be the FIRST place we call when we have problem with another appliance.
Description of Work: We had a Samsung dryer that needed repair (due to a broken belt). We called Lowe's Home Improvement where it came from and they were NO help at all...they love selling appliances apparently but are not very good with "service after the sale" once the warranty runs out (they would not even give us the name of a repair service company). We called around and all we kept hearing was "we don't work on Samsung"...we were feeling desperate! Luckily one person we talked to (who did not work on Samsung either) gave us Kernen's Appliance Repair and the phone number. We called them and got SUPER fast and efficient service!!

When the TV initially broke, I spoke with an LG call center which was clearly overseas. They scheduled a service date and told me to expect a call from Kernen's Appliance Repair. John called me very quickly (it might have been the same day) to ask me about the symptoms the TV was having. I'm glad he did this as I don't have a lot of free time to meet repair techs during the day. Based on his questions, he pre-ordered the part he thought was faulty so he wouldn't have to bother me twice. John and another technician were able to meet me first thing in the morning so I wouldn't be late for work. He brought his own work bench and a large piece of carpet on which he placed the TV so it wouldn't get scratched while he worked on it. He replaced the faulty part and got the TV up and running. He worked with it until he was sure the internet and networking issue had been fixed. All in all, the repair was done right the first time which I appreciate. The team was professional and prompt. I would certainly use them again for other electronics repairs.
Description of Work: John repaired an LG Smart TV which was under warranty from LG. The TV was a 42" flat screen which had lost internet and network functionality. In this case, there was no cost to me.

First repair call August 2013: Called LG repair center on Saturday and after phone diagnostics LG said Kernen's would be in touch on Monday to schedule the repair call. Kernen's did get back to me on Monday and scheduled the call for Wednesday. They said they would call Wednesday morning between 7-8 am to give me a more definitive 2-3 hour arrival time. They arrived later than scheduled on Wednesday with no parts to fix the microwave. By the time the tech (also the owner) diagnosed the potential problem and ordered parts, it was too late for LG to ship them out. So the parts were ordered on Thursday for 2nd business day delivery which was Monday (the owner refused to expedite the order unless I would pay for it even though his late arrival caused the shipping delay). Furthermore, the tech (owner) stated that he could not schedule a time for Monday until Monday morning between 7-8 am. When Monday came the tech (owner) replaced 2 parts (main board and line filter) and it still was not working. Then he replaced the fuse and it worked. So, what could have been fixed on Wednesday, because he did at least carry fuses on his truck, wasn't fixed until the following Monday because the problem was misdiagnosed...total down time from my initial call to LG was 10 days for what turned out to be $2 fuse. 2nd repair call October 2013: Called LG repair center on Tuesday and after phone diagnostics LG said Kernen's would be out for repair call on Thursday between 8-1 in the morning/afternoon. On Wednesday Kernen's left a message to call them back to schedule an appointment. I called back and the receptionist, after checking with the tech (owner), said they would be out Friday. I told the receptionist that wasn't acceptable and asked for the owner to call me back. When he called back I asked that I be given better consideration since this was the 2nd call for the exact same problem. He said that he would move it to Thursday as originally scheduled but would not know the time of day until Thursday morning between 7-8 am. I asked that I be made the first call of the day and he refused, stating he couldn't schedule his workday until all the calls for the day were in. He refused even though this was a repeat call and the first call was a 10 day down time for a $2 fuse. He also refused to preorder any potential parts other than having a fuse. At this point we parted ways and I had LG cancel Kernen's appointment and reschedule with another LG approved vendor. Bottom line, Kernen's is not customer accommodating at all. They are not punctual. They misdiagnosed the problem which caused further downtime. And this is with dealing with the owner, not just an employee of the company.

Our LG side-by-side had an ice/water dispenser which did not stop when pressure was released as it should. It had been serviced previously by The Geek Squad for a related problem (it was purchased from Best Buy) but they had a two-week lead time for service and we wanted to be able to get ice and water without flooding the kitchen. I called LG for a list of authorized technicians and Kernen's Appliance Repair was on the list, had a good Angie's List review, and was able to send someone out the next day. The technician was polite and thorough in diagnosing the problem. A part was needed which had to be ordered, so we had to wait a bit for that and a miscommunication slowed that process, but one phone call corrected that problem and less than a week later the part arrived, was replaced, and we are happy. This company was great to do business with.

Description of Work: When my 2-year old LG built-in microwave quit working, I called LG. They referred me to Kernen's as their authorized LG service company in our area. Upon contacting them, they quickly worked with me to set a service date and time for early the following week. They diagnosed the problems, provided me a clear explanation of what repairs would entail and gave me an estimate. Unfortunately, the cost of parts and labor required was about the same cost as buying a new microwave and having it installed, so I did not follow through on the needed repairs.
