Description of Work: We stayed at home this holiday weekend so we could meet with one of their estimator. They insisted that my spouse be there so we had to do it on a Saturday. Less than two hours prior to the appointment we get a call saying the sales person car broke down and would have to cancel. Wanted to know if we wanted to reschedule. They can't get a rental to keep appointments? Very unprofessional. I got their info here on Angie List. Buyer beware

Description of Work: The project turned out very well, and they came up with a design and fixtures to meet my very specific requests. Only issue was a minor inconvenience: they started with a team of 2 installers, but something happened to one of the guys, so the final days of the job had to be completed by one guy working alone. He was great about it, but it did take longer than originally expected.

Description of Work: We used Bryton's two times for installation of tub to walk in shower, and re-do of "five wall, old fashioned stall shower". Both installations went well, and we are pleased with the product. We had two different installers, and one was a bit higher quality work than the other. Only had a slight mis-hap of a breakage of a bathroom ceiling fixture, but I believe it will be rectified. Price was honestly in the "ball park" of others; it is expensive, but we are happy that we had it done.

It was great! They offered an interest free loan for the work and did an excellent job with the installation. The shower's performance has been flawless, too. I would highly recommend them.

The young man that the company sent was head and shoulders above the rest. He followed through on all of his commitments and did a great job with the conversion. The company even sent me some very nice towels as a "thank you" for my business. I would recommend them to anyone.

They were prompt in providing us with an estimate, they completed the work quickly, and they didn't exceed the pricing. Furthermore, they have been very responsive to some recent concerns about the spacing between the shower's panels. Ultimately, they did a great job under rather difficult circumstances.

Everything went great! We were extremely pleased with the end result!! Jason and his crew did outstanding work and surpassed my expectations. It was also nice that the project manager, Geoff, and the owner, Barry, came by to make sure things were as they should be (which, of course, they were). As a result of how happy we were with the services/products provided, we recommended Bryton's to our neighbors across the street who were also in the market for a new bathroom. After seeing what we had done, they can't wait for their turn at the end of the month. :)
Description of Work: Bryton's remodeled our shower and tub and repaced them both with an acrylic system.

The estimate was the best I received (got estimates from 3 companies). They showed up on time. They finished within the time period given - two days. And the result is fantastic. I love it. I could not have asked for things to go any better. The quality of the product is outstanding. The professionalism was the best. The demo went great - they did all the clean up. When the work was completed (at the end of day two), everything was clean and in it's appropriate place. Great work! The guy who came to do the actual work knew exactly what he was doing and did an outstanding job. He even found some mold on some wood behind what was removed. Instead of just cleaning it and treating the wood, he replaced it. It's like it wasn't even there. I love it.As soon as I download my before / after pictures, I will post them. Thanks!
Description of Work: I had a spa tub removed and a step-in shower installed in the same footprint.

Overall, BAD experience. The company was great at the Raleigh Home Show as well as on the phone during my initial inquiry and even sent me some impressive materials about their products via US post and FedEx, which arrived one day prior to home sales visit. Mailing include copy of licenses and letters of reference from insurance company (but no financial details) and supplier. I called the next day in the morning, prior to the salesman coming out to inquire about the insurance limits and why the did not include any info., about being bonded. That put the phone receptionist off a bit -but she recovered and said they did not need to be bonded because they did their own background checks & they trusted all of their team , same crew for 8 years. Salesman came on time which was a big plus. We thought he was coming to show us samples, see what we wanted ,and to give us/send us a written estimate (like all the other contractors we have been interviewing). Our mailing assured us they did not use high-pressure sales tactics. WRONG! The sales person was very knowledgeable about his product, gave us a huge list of approved references we could call, and was very friendly until we started asking too many questions. Then it went downhill . He became defensive when I asked why the company was not bonded and grew angry when he started to sense our hesitancy and when we told him we would not make a decision "today" he lost his cool. He did not yell or anything but he became more and more hostile in his responses. We explained we needed time to think about everything he told us and we were exploring our options. That's when he began the old "counter the no" tactics every high pressure sales person learns (I know these tactics well as I used to sell fitness spa memberships for a brief time, until I simply could not tolerate the lack of ethics with this salesmanship style). He was very aggressive using come-back lines such as "If you buy today you can receive an additional discount; if you don't buy today, this estimate is only good till the end of the month"; "Why can't you make a decision today? How much more information do you need when I just told you we are the top of the line for this product.?" "Don't you want to save $300 today, that's usually a lot of money for most people"; Do you want to keep an ugly old tile bath or have a new cleaner bath system or not?" When I asked if he had different shower doors or shower head models he became annoyed (no, they do not, it's a one type must fit all, else you must go look elsewhere to finish your project). He then started to ask questions about our employment (trying to figure a sales angle re:money no doubt) and accused us of being vague in our answers when repeatedly asked "What's the real reason you can't sign today". Then he said it would take 8 weeks before they could get started on the project (but guaranteed 3 day completion) and if we insisted on "rushing" the job, we would incur a rush fee and he could not guarantee the workmanship. But if we signed today, it could possible get moved up on the docket and still be quality work. He then said we need to be respective of his time as well as our own personal time because if we didn't sign today, he would have to come out another day, spend more time and gas money to complete the deal, and time was money for him. In the end (after about 1.5 hours), He said we would get a written deal if we agreed to sign "today" and that would take ANOTHER HOUR to complete all that paperwork . Since we did not do that, he took the scribbled notes of his estimate for various items on a piece of scratch paper with him and left us with his business card to call back by the end of the month to finish the deal. It was like we were sitting in a used car sales office, only it was our own home!. He then had one last dea/offer to try to sway us to "sign today" - and that was to put down the required $1000 deposit to "hold" the deal and get us on the books so we don't lose time, but would offer it up as a refund if we decided not to go with them within 1 week. Said this usually wasn't done (no refund, $1000 was policy deposit), but he was going to do allow us a refund to ease or minds. When we didn't jump at that (frankly we did not believe we'd ever see that $1,000 again), he packed up his demo cases and left in a bit of a huff. BTY, the total estimate was between $7500-8,500, depending on "deals" /options. Also the required deposit of $1,000 exceeds the consumer guide recommendations of not putting down any more than 10% for any contracting arrangement. I was disappointed as the photos of their finished products look great and a low maintenance shower is very appealing. But after this slaes experience, we are going to stick with tile and "deal" with the required upkeep.
Description of Work: We did NOT go with this company. High tactic sales pitch. NOT an estimate visit like normal contractors. You have to be 100% certain you want this type of product before the sales guy arrives at your door. Otherwise, it will be a very long painful experience.

Response from West Shore Home
Your complaint is unusual in that you are not actually a customer of ours and in your letter you indicate that you have purchased from another company. Regardless, I appreciate your comments. It sounds to me like you were impressed with everything about the company and the products, but not the sales person. The employee that came to your home turned in his notice and left our company a week after visiting you in your home. I apologize for your experience and I want you to know that we do not train or ask our employees to treat someone in the manner you described. As owner of Brytons Bath, I have my personal name and contact information on most of our documents including our website. We have showroom locations with employees that answer the telephones. I encourage everyone to communicate their positive and negative experiences so that I can reward the positive comments and properly manage the negative ones. I hope your experience with the other company was a positive one and you now have a beautiful bathroom. Barry Dyer, Owner-Brytons Bath 919-649-2746, barrydyer@brytons.com
