Outstanding. Everyone from Bryton's was efficient, courteous and professional. All paperwork was clear. Everyone showed up on time and worked steadily. The finished work was beautifully done and the installer added several small touches on his own initiative that made things even nicer. I would certainly recommend Bryton's for bathroom remodeling.
Description of Work: Replaced tub and surrounding wall tile with new low edge shower and vinyl wall covering. Added grab bars, installed new fixtures.

Everything went very well, estimator was courteous and very professional, he came in, made the measurements and provided me with a quote and explained the process of removal and installation. Everything went as planned, on the first day the installer, Scott, removed the bath tub and walls, replaced pipes and installed the tub and walls. On day two, Scott came and completed the install, and removed all trash and left the bathroom clean.

The installation was done pretty much on time. They started when scheduled but it took an extra half day to complete the tile installation as the accent tile that was delivered didn’t match (wasn’t same color as the sample) so we were allowed to pick a replacement access tile at the nearby Lowe’s store at no extra cost and we were very happy with that. The tile man said it was a little bit bigger job to do then they’d thought so it took that much time to complete, which was 3 ½ days for removal of old and installation of new. The glasswork was done 3 weeks later in about a half-day. The crew was professional and friendly and the job was perfect!
Description of Work: We had the walk in shower stall completely replaced. Removed all 1” tile and walls and floor, and all ceramic tile that surrounded the Jacuzzi bathtub covered. The floor of shower was replaced with acrylic pan, and the walls of shower were redone in new modern 12” tile with accent strip near the top. The glass panels and door were replaced with a new semi frame less glass and the shower fixture was replaced with a Moen two function valve and 4 function handheld shower on slide-bar.

The project was completed in the time they said it would be completed. We were surprised at the plumping material they used. My husband expected copper pipes but that was not used. We did not want the pipes replaced because they were fairly new but the company said that is part of the cost. Overall, we are satisfied but we think it wasn't worth the cost.

That service turned out excellent. They guy who came out to do the work was professional. He did a good job and finished it within 2 days. The price was high, which we expected and we were so pleased that we got an estimate from them to do another bathroom. We are very happy with what they did overall.

The first problem I had after signing the contract is you are required to pay $1,000.00 that day. IF you don't sign/pay & you decide later to have the service done ... you will be charged a fee for someone else to come out & re measure. Another guy did come out the next day (to re measure), but he really came to collect an additional 7k, The first day the installers arrive on site they request another 8k. At this point I've paid 16K & have nothing to show for it ... the work has not even begun. Evidently they use your money to order the necessary supplies or insure they have your money so you will not change your mind. All of this was spelled out in the contract ...which I should have read & more carefully. I did try to cancel the contract but it was after the 3 day window & I was told if I cancelled I would have to pay 10 - 50 percent of the job (for nothing)! Bryton's claims they can "do it all", but they are not licensed to or don't have in their employ someone to handle all of your needs (ex. electricians, painters, etc.). They will however contract the work out on your behalf (for an additional fee that is above & beyond the price the contractor charges them). I also did not like the fact that the contract was not itemized as to what each thing was costing me. Just a lump sum total. I was disappointed at the quality of the items I received. For the amount I paid I should have received top of the line products. Had to settle for vinyl instead of porcelain tile, chrome fixtures instead of brushed nickel, "hard service" aka plastic vanity top instead of quartz or granite, the faucets are so short you can't even get your hands under them for washing, the sinks are small (looks like they belong in a play house. My cabinets they hauled out of here were a better grade than my new "upgraded cabinets"! The cabinets & drawers did not even come with handles, I had to buy them & they were kind enough to put them on (which splintered the doors when they drilled the holes. I had to hire someone to put in my lighting, exhaust fan/light, the glass for the shower & for painting. Bryton's finished up today, but I'm on week 3 & still can't use the bathroom because I'm waiting on the glass for the shower & still trying to locate a painter. My intent was to have a shower stall w/o a door which the Bryton Rep told me would work. Well it seems 2 weeks into the project .. the glass guy says that will not work & you will have splash out. Now I've got to add the extra expense of a shower door. I had no way of knowing what this project was going to cost up front because of having to contract out (which Bryton's made seem it was so easy ... just go to Lowes or Home Depot, buy your items & they will install for you ... it was not that easy & very time consuming). Needless to say I would not use Bryton's again nor would I recommend them to a friend. They have too many layers of people they are paying. I spoke to 9 different people during my project, seems everyone has a separate duty. Also they asked if I wanted a permit for inspection, originally I said no that I didn't think it was necessary .. but the more I dealt with them "I didn't have a warm fuzzy" so I told them I did want the plumbing inspector to come out, to me that really shouldn't have even been asked, that should be part of their process & a requirement. I guess it's another way for them to save money.

I can’t really address the problems and/or delays associated with the other businesses from which products or services were purchased or with the stores for which we have no affiliation. Our portion of the project was completed in five days. The homeowner requested that we not install the closet shelves until the painting had been completed. We returned two weeks later to install the shelves. The work on which we performed included a custom sized and oversized shower and a separate closet with shelving. We built a buttress wall and did some sheetrock work. New flooring, vanity, top, etc. were also installed. We offer a variety of different products, including ceramic tile and granite. Products are sold at different prices and there are a lot of products going into a large project. Ultimately, we can only install the products and colors the customer chooses. This order was written up on May 13 and we began the installation on June 9. The materials for all of the above work were ordered in time to begin the installation. Eight days after the order was written our manager visited the home and reviewed our work with the homeowner. The homeowner was satisfied at the meeting and our production staff finalized all remaining purchases. Unfortunately, the homeowner called a week prior to starting the job with the desire to cancel the project. Obviously, this puts our company in a tough situation. We want to grant the homeowner their wish to cancel. But, the materials have to be paid for, and there are restocking fees for those we can send back. The customer chose to continue with the project. The homeowner chose to go with other companies and/or DIY in regards to electrical, lights, glass doors, and painting. We are capable and willing to provide each of these items and the homeowner was provided a price for us to do the work. We like to help a homeowner that is looking for ways to save money. For instance, if the homeowner is capable and willing to paint the walls, it’s a great way to save money on the overall cost of a project. I know that the cost of a home improvement project is a lot of money and the price of a project will vary depending on the items and colors selected. Our research shows that our pricing is lower than the industry. We are able to achieve a better overall price due to using employee installers on everything except a few specialty trades. We also have crews that specialize in bathrooms and that experience helps us reduce the time and provide better quality workmanship. It’s very common for a homeowner to pay progress payments throughout a project. In fact, most contractors like to receive up to half the cost up front. In this case, we asked for a $1,000 deposit. Our production manager returned and met with the homeowner to review the project eight days later. The project and contract were reviewed with the homeowner at that time and the second progress payment was received. I believe that taking the time to come back out and review the project with the homeowner is a good practice. It’s a good way to make sure that both parties are communicating properly about the work to be completed. It’s also provides time for minor changes if desired. It goes to the old adage, measure twice, cut once. It’s always our goal for a customer to be happy with their project. This review site is a great way to discover the costs prior to contacting a company. Brytons has three showrooms located in central and Eastern, NC to assist people in making product and color choices. Additionally, our representatives will bring samples to the home. Please contact me, Barry Dyer, on my cell number at 919-649-2746 with any suggestions on how else we can improve the process to make it a more pleasurable experience.

The attention to detail and quality of their work is exceptional. They even worked around a couple of snow/ice storms in the process. I've received so many compliments on the new bathroom that I have honestly lost count. I would highly recommend Bryton's Bath to anyone considering a bathroom re-model.
Description of Work: Everyone at Bryton's was friendly, professional and informed. The project involved removing my old shower and the wall that separated the shower and tub. First they built a new half-wall between the shower and tub. Then they increased the footprint of my shower by about 30% and installed a new drop-in Whirlpool powered jet tub. The old vinyl flooring was removed and ceramic tile replaced it. The new shower enclosure was also tiled.

Wonderfully. They showed up on time, removed existing shower and installed the new shower system and all tile in 1 week. About a day longer than initially planned but the tile work was more complex than estimated. Installation was great, the guys were professional and polite. Worked hard to satisfy. Selected trim tile did not match the 12 x 12" pieces so they allowed us to select an alternative product at Lowes in order to keep the project on time and budget. From start to finish it was a 5 day job to remove all old stuff and install new shower and tile work. About 2 1/2 weeks later the shower door and glass was installed in about 5 hours. Very nice installation, very satisfied!
Description of Work: Removed old tiled walk-in shower and all tile surrounding jazcuzzi tub. Replaced shower floor with white acrylic base, new 12 x 12" square tile, and installed Moen Kinglsey 2 function shower fixture with 4 function handheld shower on slidebar. Installed new semi-frameless glass shower door and glass.

They did a good job.The salesman/our point of contact was wonderful, and the laborers were polite, on time, and clean. There were 2 contractors involved - one for the enclosure, and one for the glass - and they were both great. Lastly, they set us up with some great financing options too.

Then after 2 hours of wasting my time..........I did pick colors & items just to move the meeting to closure. Then he said he couldn't finalize the price because he had to check on the glass for the shower. We scheduled a 2nd appointment. Bob then called the next day to cancel the appointment because he did not have the cost for the glass. At this point he said "I checked with management & since we believe all you are looking for is an estimate, so based on your selections it would be between $25K & $30K". Seriously? And this is without doing the floor or the "esthetics" (mirrors, painting, etc). Basically that's for a shower in tile, standard tub, toilet and a 2 sink vanity. Even if the price was reasonable, I don't think I would have gone with them because of Bob's attitude. Unless you are rich & like to throw money on a project WITHOUT GUIDANCE/SUGGESTIONS AT ALL from the company doing the work, I would not recommend Brytons! 1/2 of the battle on construction is having a good relationship with the vendor. I'm really surprised that they are in business & that they have received favorable reviews on Angies List!
Description of Work: I wanted to have my 9x14 bathroom updated and called for a proposal after hearing a tv commercial for 20% off and finding them in Angies List. Bob Flaherty came out to provide an estimate for the job. The meeting was only supposed to take 90 mins, it took over 2 hours & would still be going had I not said I had to get to a call for work. Bob must not be trained in the art of listening to the customer because everything we asked for he said "no", "that's not how we do it", "we don't provide estimates, we give a contract with an exact price", "we sell against everyone else's business model". We were asking for an ESTIMATE. We were not at the point of picking colors! He would not proceed without me picking everything. Threw a sample book and some samples of shower tile & said "you have to pick what you exactly want" "I don't give approximates or estimates".

Brytons has always provided homeowners the exact price for completing the project prior to them making a decision whether to go with us or another company. I view our policy as a better alternative to contractors that provide low estimates in order to get jobs only to add charges as choices are made before and during the installation. The steps to get a price are pretty easy, first a representative comes to your home at no charge to you. If we don't have what you want or it's a job we are unable to complete, we will offer suggestions for companies or types of companies which may be better suited for the work. He/she will have samples and pictures for viewing. If you like what you see, we will begin the selection process. The exact price will be provided to you at that time. This way, the homeowner has all the information and the exact price to complete the project upfront. Our customers appreciate how easy we make the process and that we give the exact price upfront, not an estimate. Brytons has three showroom locations across Eastern, NC. We are open Monday-Friday, and most Saturdays for anyone to come by to look at full-sized displays, color options, and to learn about our company if this option is preferred to an in-home appointment.

My husband contacted Bryton's to get an estimate to either repair or replace our shower enclosure. He was told that both of us needed to be present if someone was to come to the house. He explained how difficult this would be and they insisted on this policy. They finally said if just he was present, the cost would be $150. Needless to say, if it is this difficult to get someone to come out, we felt it would be too difficult to work with them. This is a ridiculous policy!

Communication between homeowners and our staff is critical to a successful project and ultimately to having satisfied customers. We are extremely flexible in our appointment times. Appointments can be scheduled during a weekday, an evening, and we offer Saturday appointments. We are proud to offer the incentive of a free visit in exchange for having all parties present. This gets us started on the “right foot” should you choose us for your project and you don’t have to pay a fee for the visit should you choose not to do the project with us.

I was extremely disappointed. I went to their showroom. As soon as the guy heard me say that I was going to reuse the tub, he said that he wasn't interested. It was a cast iron tub and there was nothing wrong with it. I asked him why and he said that you don't know what you'll get into with wiring and such when you're working on an older house. My house is 50 years old and it is well built. They left a very bad taste in my mouth. They didn't even want to come out and look at it. I originally contacted him and he told me to buy his deal and then he would come out. I told him I wanted him to look at the job first. I think their policy was wrong. Had he come and looked at the job and then given me a reason not to do the job, that would have been different. He wasn't very customer friendly or professional.

From the time we walked into the Brytons showroom until the completion of the project, we were treated well by friendly professional personnel. The showroom staff answered our questions and concerns without the hard sell we experience elsewhere. The salesman that came to our home for the estimate, was very knowledgeable and again, no hard sell and he made the experience a pleasant one. Finally, the installation team showed up on time and completed the project ahead of the projected schedule. I was very impressed not only with their technical skills, but their communication skills as well. Ours, is an older house, circa 1900?s with 1940?s era additions. The plumbing was a challenge to be sure. Still, no complaint from them, as they accomplished a first rate job. I know the skill?s involved having been with an Air Force Civil Engineering Squadron for 14 years. I rate their skills as ? expert?.

Overall the renovation went well. We were disappointed at the high cost and had to settle for components which were adequate and looked fine, but not the better quality or as decorative. as we would have liked. The service provider responded quickly to our inquiry about renovation, sent their salesman out at our convenience and throroughly explored all our questions we had about the work, both during the initial workup and consequently during the waiting period when we revisited our decisions too many times. It was a busy time of year, so we had to wait six weeks for renovation to commence. We were delighted with the workman who came to do the actual renovation. He rediscussed the project and what our needs were, changed the renovation plans accordingly with the home office, and went to work transforming our shower space. He worked very quickly and efficiently, changed his plans as the landscape of the shower space demanded, We hardly knew he was here unless he needed to talk to us about a change he had to make because of some newly uncovered part of the shower space that caused a problem. Because of our change in plans, he stayed an extra day to complete the work so as not to leave the bathroom unfinished over a weekend. The bathroom area looked wonderful and was cleaner when he left than when he came. We were a little unhappy with the glass installers who were contracted through but in conjunction with Brytons. We had to wait a week for the glass installers to come out after the shower was completed. We wanted to use the new shower right away, but obviously could not do so without the glass. On their first visit, the glass installers realized they had measured incorrectly and the glass they had wouldn't fit, so new glass had to be ordered and the installation was delayed yet another week. We have really enjoyed the "new and improved" shower since then.

Bryton's is extremely professional - from response to my original e-mail request, to their welcome e-mail, to being exactly on time at the initial appointment.
