Called Williams in the late morning (leaking water heater) and they were able to come out by 3:30 p.m. Removed and discarded old water heater; installed new one. Our water heater was old, so we had to have some upgrades to meet code--I believe that's why the cost was higher than I expected. Williams always has excellent service. Very pleased with all the people I deal with at Williams.
Description of Work: Replaced water heater.

We called for an estimate, and were offered a one time price, or 10% discount if we get a contract for once every six months inspection (once in spring/summer, once in fall/winter). The technician came out promptly as scheduled at my convenience and seemed knowledgable. We needed a new filter that was much larger than the usual ones that you can buy almost anywhere (ours was 20x25x5), which he had on his truck and sold to us on the spot. We also needed a new capacitor, which was an unexpected added cost, but hopefully, having this preventive maintenance done will save us some costs in our electric bills in the long run.
Description of Work: We bought a home that was built in 1969 with it original HVAC system still running. We called for general maintenance, which is recommended every six months.

Technician (a different one from the original guy who came the first time) installed the new computer module and my A/C has worked fine ever since. Both technicians were showed up when they said they would, and were polite, professional, and competent.
Description of Work: Lightning struck my townhome and damaged my central air conditioning system. I asked another resident in the community who they had used for A/C repair, and they recommended Williams Plumbing, Heating and Air. I called Williams and was delighted they could send someone immediately (on June 17) to assess the damage and give me an estimate. The technician discovered that a computer module had been destroyed and he'd have to order a replacement. But he at least got the fan going so I would have some air circulating. He ordered the module and came back to install it on June 21.

The 2 technicians from Williams got the work done in only half a day. They also showed up when they said they would, and were polite and professional. I haven't had any trouble with my A/C since, and no more leaking roof!
Description of Work: I was so pleased when Williams Plumbing, Heating & Air fixed my air conditioning in June 2010, I had their technician give me an estimate to move my A/C compressor unit from the roof of my townhome to the ground beside my unit. For several years I had been trying to fix a roof leak where the compressor was attached to the roof, to no avail. Putting the compressors on the roofs of the townhomes in my community was the original construction company's stupid idea, and several other residents have had to pay to have the compressors moved to fix their leaking roofs. They had told me it would cost over $1,500 to have this done so I delayed doing the same on my own unit. But I was so pleased with Williams' previous work for me, I decided to have them give me an estimate on this job. Was delighted when I found out they would only charge $873! This fee included moving the compressor from the roof to a plastic pad on the ground, rerouting the electrical lines, and drilling holes in the wall of my utility room for the lines to go from inside to outside. The fee did NOT include patching the roof where the compressor was removed--the handyman who works for my townhome community took care of that.

Perfect. White glove service. He cleaned up after himself.
Description of Work: I had a toilet that was clogged. I had tried everything on my own when I finally called in Williams. I called at 10:45 pm got the answering service. They took my message and said someone would call me. Within minutes I received a return call. The plumber showed up promtptly on Saturday morning and fixed the toilet. I will definitely use them again.

They come back and service it twice a year. They do good work. We spent $7,000 for the installation. The price was slightly high. We will use this company again in the future.

This was a rental house that I own. The cold air quit blowing. I called Williams to look at the unit. They technician arrived on time. My A/C was around 12 years old but had been working fine until this day. The technician hooked up a meter to the unit and after a few minutes he said the unit was dead and needed a new one. I asked him how he came to conclusion so quick. I don't remember his exact statement but basically he told me and he told me the system overloaded and the motor overheated and was blown. he put a power meter to show me and I saw it surge then shut off. When I commented on this he gave me an excuse. I know from experience that a refrigerator has safety feature that shuts off the unit when it over heats. He told me that the unit was too old to have safety units. I was suspicious of this. he then asked to see the handler in the attic. he took the panel off and immediately told me it was broken. He made this conclusion just by looking at it. I was growing more suspicious of his analysis. but he was more than happy to give me an estimate on a new unit. $5000 to $7000. Ouch. he gave me the quote and I paid him the service charge and he left. If I was going to pay that much I wanted a second opinion. So I had another technician come look at it. This was a person who had a side business and did it part time. I only spoke to him by phone and told him what the the first tech told me. I was at work when the guy came to look at it. he called me and told me that he fixed the unit. What??? he told me that a brass fitting had came loose and the freon had leaked out. He put some thread locking adhesive on it and refilled the unit with freon. i was charged $70.00 plus the price of freon. He gave me a receipt stating such. Livid about this I took the Williams quote and tech analysis and the other tech receipt and analysis and went to Williams office to speak to the manager. I showed them both statements. There service manager was more than apologetic and even gave me a refund for the service fee. They told me that they would look into it and speak to the tech. The unit lasted another year and was still working when I replaced it with a new unit. Needless to say Williams did not install the new unit. If I had not been suspicious I would have been tricked into buying a new unit when all it took was a tube of adhesive. This incident happened two years ago and I do not know if this tech works there still or not.

See other comments. I will continue to use their services.
Description of Work: We have had an annual service contract with them for years. In spring they call to set up a date to inspect the A/C, and in fall they call to set up an appt to inspect the heating. My estimate of $50, above, is just that, since the service contract covers the inspection. They bring a replacement set of furnace filters each time. Over the years they have replaced defective thermostats (we have two A/C's and two furnaces), and once they found excessive high levels of carbon monoxide, so we replaced the furnace. This is over 22 years. They are always on time, call before they arrive, wear shoe covers in the house, etc. The contract also means that we get priority should we call with an emergency, e.g., leaking toilet, which happened once.

The quality of work was good. The plumbers were nice and did their job well. However, I had left a message with them over the weekend (with a "live person", not a message service, and the call was not returned). I called them the next day, and they were on the site within two hours.
Description of Work: They replaced pipes in the bathroom that had been damaged during home repair. I had knocked a hole in the wall while removing a vanity, and broken the pipes. They replaced part of the pipes. It took about l/2 hour for them to do the entire repair.

Our Air Conditioner stopped working during one of the hottest days of summer. Williams PHA came out immediately (we have a service contract with them) and discovered a leak in the evaporator coil. They were extremely professional and not pushy at all and gave us three fair options to consider: Do nothing and add more Freon, Replace Evaporator Coil, Upgrade to a more energy efficient R410A American Standard Allegiance 15 (since our AC was over 10 years old). They added freon to our current AC to keep us cool and gave us 20 days to make a decision on repairs with the option of applying our current service fees and freon costs toward the new unit. We decided to upgrade our unit SEER 15 instead of investing money in our current 10 year old SEER 9 AC. Even though this was an unexpected high expense, we were pleased with the professionalism. My wife worked with them and they were extremely helpful at explaining what the problem was and their recommendations to her in person and also to me over the phone. We would use them again when it's time to replace the gas furnace.
Description of Work: Our current R22 AC unit was completely frozen up and low on freon due to leak in evaporator coil. Replaced 10+ year old AC with newer more efficient SEER American Standard Model 15 (outside and attic units).

I got a quick quote within a few hours of calling Williams (they are right down the street so it was easy for them to hop over). I called them back a few months later to setup an appointment and they completed the work in less than a week.
Description of Work: I had the original cast iron water feed to the house replaced with a copper feed. I also had a new hose connection on the front of the house installed. They had to install a pressure reducer valve, and and expansion tank to meet current plumbing code. All of the work was done with copper except for the new hose bib which was done with pex. I had to have the work done because the old feed was severely corroded and there was very low water pressure in the house. Having the new feed install increased my pressure tremendously. They had to dig a new trench in my front yard, and route the new feed into the house from the side since they could not punch through the front porch. They also had to have a survey company come out and mark where the gas lines were to not interfere with them.

The toilet project went fine. However, I also wanted him to switch out my old disposal for a new one I had purchased and he wanted $250 addition dollars! The toilet installation was $284. This company is grossly overcharging people. The next plumber I called did the job for $125 including the service call fee. I called Williams today to complain about the pricing but they really do not care. The "complaint guy" actually laughed in my face and told me not to call him when my kitchen floods. Just like disreputable car centers they hide behind "well, I saw lots of problems", although none were mentioned to me at the time. And none were found by the good plumber who finally, actually, did the work. He is excellent.

They did a great job. Williams, also told us the unit was too small for the square footage it was suppose to cool and the unit had been dropped during installation. A starter unit has a life span of 4 to 5 years.

I am very impressed with their professionalism. They are responsive. I had 5 other bids and they blew them all away. They broke everything down for me into plain English and didn t use words that I wouldn t understand. When they came to look at my house, they did the quote immediately while he was here I didn't have to wait days for it. I didn't have to clean anything as they cleaned up entire mess from old ducts and everything. I am very impressed with company.

The guys were punctual, professional and neat, but we wont call them again because we thought this a bit pricey for the job.
Description of Work: They replaced the kitchen faucet and two cut-off valves under the sink only because we could not get them off ourselves. The service was excellent, but the price outrageous. They charged a reasonable 89.00 service call to come to the door, but 150.00 to install a faucet we provided and 90.00 for two cut-offs that sell for about 4.00 each at Lowes. Plus, they sent two men to do a one man job.

Plumber was on time, price for work seemed high. I had to ask him to clear the sink with more than just a plunger. Product purchased for keeping lines clear had its seal broken, but a call to the company had them come out immediately with a new container. Everyone was friendly and polite, on time and did what they said they would.

ALL PRICES ARE QUOTED UP FRONT. IF WE MISS SOMETHING, THE PRICE DOES NOT GO UP. OUR WORK IS GUARANTEED. ALL WORK IS DONE TO MODERN CODE. WE ARE BONDED AND ISURED. IF YOU WANT CHEAPER PRICES, THAT IS EASILY ATTAINABLE BY CALLING SEVERAL COMPANIES AFTER THE WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED. IT'S THEIR DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO GET THE BUSINESS NEXT TIME. THE GREAT MAJORITY OF OUR CUSTOMERS ARE THOSE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED LOW PRICES, POOR QUALITY AND "CUSTOMER NO SERVICE" AFTER THE SALE. OUR PRICES ARE FLAT RATE, QUOTED UP FRONT AND FAIR. WE HAVE BEEN SERVING GREENSBORO AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY FOR OVER 30 YEARS.
