"If you are reading this review, I wish I could speak to you face to face and tell you (implore you) not to use Flaker Flooring for services. We hired them to install laminate hardwood flooring in our small condo in Keowee Key. We hired them based on decent prices and decent reviews. There were issues with timing and punctuality. The price was increased twice due to needing to to extra work to level (which we agreed to with no issue). Once the work was "complete" there were issues. There were missing transition pieces, missing pieces near the sliding glass door, missing quarter round in areas, and BUBBLING in the flooring. We adressed our concerns and transition pieces and quarter round were added. Upon final inspection the cuts to the wood, around corners, vents, etc were rough. There were gaps at corners that the quarter round didn't cover and there were bubbles/humps throughout the flooring. Never have I seen floors that are not flat. We were told by the contractor that there was nothing he could do and the floors would settle. These were there upon installation. Well, about 6 months later, the bubbles have become large hills in the flooring, and the floor is rising to the point where doors no longer shut because they scrape the flooring. When we called the contractor back out, he said he had no idea why that was happening and wasn't sure how to fix it. We had a reputable flooring contractor come out and inspect the floors. He said that without a doubt, this was an install error. The floors were installed way too tight. There is supposed to be space where the floor meets the wall. This is what the quarter round is there to cover. There was no space. The subfloor also had issues that we were never made aware of. The new contractor stated Flaker Flooring should have never placed floors without replacing the subfloor. There were no temperature or moisture issues present. Again, we never heard a word about it. We paid $7k to have the flooring replaced (as it was unusable) and the work redone. We have asked Flaker Flooring to simply refund their work, and they have yet to. The bottom line is: if you are looking for quality work and a contractor that has integrity and will stand by their work (especially if they make errors)... look elsewhere, and be sure their work comes with a warranty. Please don't trust the other reviews as we did. Please do not use this contractor. You will likely have to have the work redone."

"They did a terrible job. They came on the 9th Started the job. SupposEdly that used 36 80 and 100 sand paper. I couldnt find it if they did. I think is what he said They did our bedroom and the spare bedroom. They were rough, we asked them to resand them. They didn't feel any of the nail holes We We asked them to put apoxy in the holes on the floor in our bedroom. They did not do that. The nails holes weren't filled and they scratched. The dug in with the sander in a couple spots. They use filler in the spare bedroom. And it set up wrong and they stained over that and it was spotty so we asked them to resand it. And then they came to the living room could. Not get it all up.We asked them to sand the floors to get the barcodes off the new wood. They did use a drum sander. But they still did not get the barcodes off. They stained it , we asked them to Take it back down because the barcodes were still on the floor you could see them through the stain. That was on the 12th They got upset And left.Me and my husband Spent 12 hours on sunday , sending these floors down with an orbital sander hand sander. They came back Monday. It was supposed to be here at 8:30. That showed up at 2. My husband took off work. When they did get here, my husband showed them stuff that he wanted them to do before they stained the floors he went in and talked to his brother and said this is what we're gonna do for you. You're not happy with the outcome. You're not satisfied so we are gonna stain the floors and not charge u anymore money. but we are not going to poly. And my husband told him that if you're not gonna poly , you're not gonna stain in either , you can get your stuff And leave because we paid you to do all of the work.He went back and talked to his brother. And they didn't agree to do the staining and the poly. So they did not fill the holes. They did did not do the apoxy. They were supposed to stain under my oven and pull it out which they did not. So the bottom line is the floors in the bedroom and our laundry room and the spare bedroom are all still rough and Scratched They're not smooth. You can barely walk your socks over the floor. In the bathroom they did not feel any of the holes in the living room. They didn't feel holes. The barcodes are still all over the floor."

The cost of flooring installation is $3,000 for the average homeowner. This cost can range from $1,500 to $4,500, depending on the project size, flooring material, and any special features. For example, if stairs need new flooring, you can expect to pay about $11 to $160 per step. Additionally, hardwood flooring costs significantly more than linoleum, with hardwood ranging from $6 to $22 per square foot and linoleum costing $3 to $7 per square foot.
You should aim to hire a professional floor cleaner once or twice per year to remove any set-in stains, resolve scratches, and make your floors look shiny and new again. If you have a bustling household with many children, pets, or severe allergies, having your floors cleaned four times per year is worth the investment to maintain the integrity of your flooring. Don’t forget to prioritize cleaning your floors yourself in between professional cleanings, too.
When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.
Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
The cost for professional floor cleaning is $250 on average. This cost can range from $100 to $1,500, depending on the type of flooring and its square footage.
For example, natural stone flooring requires specialized techniques and care, so you'll spend closer to the higher end of the cost range. The cost of cleaning tile and grout is more cost-effective, where you'll pay an average of $0.50 to $3.50 per square foot.
There are a few tips to keep your floors clean to help keep them looking sparkling until your next professional visit. Sweeping and vacuuming regularly will help reduce the dirt, debris, and pet hair from accumulating.
Placing doormats at every entrance will help keep some of the dirt outside, helping to minimize the dirt that ends up on your floors. In addition, using the correct stain-removing methods for your floor type will help properly remove them without damaging your floors.
