McKenzie Plumbing was very responsive to our water leak problem on a Saturday evening. They returned our initial call within five (5) minutes to determine the scope and nature of the problems. They arrived within 45 mintues of our initial call and started to exam the problem. They decided to remove as little of the exterior wall as possible to expose the pipes and determine the problem. They found a small pin hole leak in the cold water line and has the pipe repaired within 20 minutes. The entire repair took less than 60 minutes and we could turn the water back on to the house. The did an excellent job for us.
Description of Work: Repaired a water leak in the cold water line to the kitchen sink located near an exterior wall of the house.

They did a great job! It only took about fifteen minutes to fix the problem. They were very friendly and even let my 7 yr old grandson help hold the flashlight. They also gave me an estimate on remodling both of my bathrooms. Over all I am very pleased with the work they did and I will definately be using them again.

During the freeze the week before, the hot water pipe under the house cracked and began leaking. DIdn't notice until SuperBowl night, a hissing sound. I called 6AM on Tues. and unfortunately had to wait until 10AM. The call center taker asked if it was an emergency, but McKenzie's representative never got the call, SO my water flowed and poured and poured. They went under the house, saw the pipe, turned th water off - long enough for me to fix a dripping kitchen faucet (I had the stuff, just trying to find time to DIY.) I feel good that for the big things, like crawl spaces... I can call them.
Description of Work: They replaced the defective cracked piping. They completed in about 40 mins. They had to go under the house and because it was hot water, my installation was "a hot mess." Give Phillip, who had been to my home before I ever connected with Angie's list, a Big A! He saved my faith in the company. He was helpful, professional and advised me on a water restoration company that might better serve me for the installation clean up. Gave me the 5% Angie's list Membership discount and a discount for not getting to the call ASAP. (from 160-139)

The plumber came out to unclog our sewage pipe which had caused the water to back up into our bathrooms. He ended up taking off the whole toilet since our landscaper covered up the outside access, but I was very satisfied with the job he did attempting to find the lost access pipe. He took special care not to make a mess and cleaned up what spills did happen due to his work. The response time was great even though we called on a weekend McKenzie Plumbing Inc. still got someone out to our house within 4 hours. I highly recommend this company to anyone wanting quality service. The plumber was professional and polite from start to finish.

I was a bit horrified to see water leaking through the kitchen ceiling from the bathroom above. Based on another positive recommendation, I called McKenzie, and they were able to come out directly. It was a Saturday late afternoon, but they were pleasant, courteous and professional. The owner came with his son as his assistant. The owner was doing a great job of teaching the son about the job without sacrificing efficiency. The son was a very able assistant. They identified the source of the leak quickly (the tank) and set about disassembling the toilet to repair it. While they were in it, they did additional maintenance (wax ring). They also checked our other toilet tank's status. They picked up after themselves. They were willing to bill, but let me pay cash as well. I hope we don't need plumbing services for a while, but I would call them if we did.

Out of all the plumbing companies that we called -- some responded to see what the problem was -- none of them came back with an estimate, much less a start date. McKenzie Plumbing responded the same day we called, provided an estimate and a start date!! Couldn't have been happier! Our water pressure, over 2-3 weeks, became so low it was difficult to take showers, laundry, dishes, etc. We live in a house on a slab and everyone besides McKenzie obviously didn't want to deal with the issues at hand. They arrived when they said they would, allowed us to be part of the decision factors to rerouting our water supply system away from the slab & through the walls. The two companies that did show up discussed how our outside walls and foundation needed to be compromised in order to find and repair the leak, but McKenzie's crew closed off those lines and re-routed our water supply (causing little damage to internal walls) added an extra turn-off valves inside and outside our home. They worked diligently all day until the whole job was complete. My guess is -- all the other plumbing companies decided the job was too big and difficult -- we were ignored and forgotten by everyone else -- except McKenzie. Yes, if we need another plumber, McKenzie will be the first phone call, guaranteed.

Dissapointed and I hate to give negative reviews but I called to get someone to look at my water heater, since I wasn't getting a full tubs worth of hot water and to look at very low hot water flow in the kitchen sink. I do not recall the names of the two young men who did the service call. After looking at the water heater, they did not find anything wrong other than it was only a 40 Gallon and old and might need to be replaced soon. No issue there, it's an old home so that wouldn't be surprising. But regarding the kitchen hot water flow, he merely looked at the faucet, declared that it was a Price Pfister faucet and that is a common problem with them, and I would have to replace the hot water stem. I thought it odd that they didn't investigate the matter at all and simply declared the problem by glancing at the faucet, but hey, I'm not a plumber. Later I did a little DIY research on that specific issue and there are several recommended steps to determine the cause of low hot water flow. None of which were done. After learning that my home warranty would cover plumbing, I gave the warranty company a call and today a different company came by my house, took the stem apart and found some build up that they removed. My kitchen faucet now works as it should. I'm very surprised and disappointed that my experience was not an "A" as I always like to give positive feedback and I am always looking for businesses that I can trust and recommend to my friends. I withheld giving feedback until now to see if another plumbing company made the same diagnosis. I wonder if the service call would've been different if I'd been a man.

I've been putting off calling a plumber (thinking I could use drain cleaners that you buy at Lowe's or something), but realized that once both my kitchen sink, my full bathroom sink, and drain pipe connected to my washing machine were clogged. I called the answering service and he called me back in less than five minutes. I told him my sinks were clogged and would not drain at all. We made an appointment for after church. Everything went great. He had two sinks to work on so he was in and out within a couple of hours. He did not fool around or forget tools or anything like that. He had all the tools that he needed to get the job done.
Description of Work: He came worked on my kitchen sink first by snaking the drainage pipe and he also replaced my pipes and traps underneath the sink. This also cleared up the drainage pipe connected to my washing machine. He then completed the same job on my bathroom sink. Of course, no one is happy with having to spend that much money on anything, but I'm glad I didn't wait any longer than I already did. I would have had a bigger problem and spent more money. But he did an great job. I will be recommending this company to others.

My kitchen faucet was broken (no water output). I phoned & was given a same-day appointment. The plumber arrived promptly & was very polite. My old faucet was very beat up (the inside of the handle was corroded, the spout was leaking at the base & the sprayer wasn't working). The plumber gave me a choice between faucet brands & installed a beautiful new faucet. He also installed brand new water shut off valves. He took my kitchen's water supply, sink & faucet from adequate to outstanding! His price was very reasonable & he gave me a discount I found on Angie's List. I plan to call McKenzie Plumbing to replace our outdoor faucets & for any other plumbing problems that might crop up.

Crew showed up every day except Sunday and worked a full day on the project until completion. Workers were knowledgeable and efficient in their respective jobs, and answered questions and made little changes upon request. Project involved plumbers, Tile layers, electricians, carpenters, painters, and grouters. Work done was of superb quality and was done by experts. The price was very reasonable and the materials used are of the highest quality. Excess tiles and grouting medium were left in the garage for possible repairs. Everything I paid for which was not used in the project was left in my garage. Old toilet and debris from removal of old shower was cleaned up and hauled off by workers daily... there was never a "mess" in the house or in the yard. All workers were courteous, careful, clean, and professional in every way. I was not concerned about valuables laying about in the bedroom while the crews were working, and there was nothing missing after the work was finished. They cleaned up, to include the bedroom carpet, every day before they left the site. Frequent visits and final inspection by the owner of the company was most reassuring that the project was getting maximum attention. I am very happy with the results, and highly recommend McKenzie's Plumbing, Inc. for any bath remodeling job.
Description of Work: Installed new tile shower. Tile walls to ceiling, installed shower pan liner and wall board. Waterproofed walls. Installed lateral and vertical grab bars in shower. Built bench rest in shower. Re-routed water supply to outer wall and installed sufficient insulation to prevent freezing. Installed tile on bathroom floor to match shower tile. Installed new Comfort Height toilet.

I knew there was a problem with the garden tub faucet because I was only getting cold water. Finally, I checked Angie's List and after doing my research I picked McKenzie's Plumbing, Inc. I went to McKenzie's office to make an appointment because I wanted to see for myself if it was an established business. It was. Older builder which I loved and very clean. The staff was professional and polite. I was even given 10% off the final bill because of my military service. They came out within two days and fixed the issue. Wore booty's over their boots so they wouldn't track dirt in the condo. Cleaned up all the mess they made. The crew was professional and polite as well. Couldn't have asked for a better company. If I ask a question, they would talk to me as if I was a person. Not like the last plumber I had where he was very disrespectful.

I call on a Saturday expecting to either see someone Monday or pay top dollar for a simple sink leak. When Phillip arrived I let him know I tried to install a new kitchen sink myself and ran into issues. He took care of my leak in less than one hour and also checked the rest of my plumbing for issues since I had just bought the house. He found and I confirmed a large leak in the hot water heater that had started since I purchased the house. By Monday morning he had returned with another crew member to replace the broken hot water heater, again taking less than 1 hour. They cleaned up after themselves and it looked like they were never there (a rarity for most companies these days). Thanks guys, I look forward to calling you again for my bathroom upgrade.

I first called Mckenzie Plumbing nearly a month ago to request an estimate for the cost of running a sewage line to the city's connection. The secretary at the office was very polite and professional. A week later, I had a meeting at my house with Phillip, one of the technicians for Mckenzie Plumbing. Phillip and his partner were very professional and polite. They were not in a hurry to leave my house. I really felt they wanted to take the time to answer all my questions. I really liked the fact that the two men really expressed pride in the quality of work Mckenzie Plumbing provides. That really made me feel confident in choosing this company for this major house project. I was given an official bid proposal that same day. The bid propsal presented to me was a fair market price. This estimate was within the range of the prices some other neighbors paid to other plumbing companies. I really felt it was worth going with a company that has an EXTENSIVE track record of stellar customer reviews on the internet and by word of mouth around town. The crew began work on my house Thursday, May 23, 2013. The crew first checked under my house to see whether or not a line could be run directly under my house to the street. They found that it was not feasible to run a line from under the house because of the layout of the plumbing. They dug a trench by hand in my backyard over to the side of my house by the front yard. The guys really impressed me with how everyone worked efficiently together. I was very happy that my fence was not taken down. The guys dug under the fence. The guys did have to dig a little bit of the front yard by hand because I had a good amount of wires running on that side of the yard. A back hoe was used in the front yard to complete the remainder of the trench to the city connection. That same day, the crew laid all the piping in the yard. They made sure that the pipes were connected properly and that they sloped downward. Later in the day, the guys had me run my faucets and toilets in order to check for proper flow through the pipes. The crew showed up again at my house on Friday, May 24, 2013. They were waiting for the city inspector. The guys double checked their work while they were waiting for the inspector. I was also told to run my toilets and faucets again for about 5 mins straight. The inspector showed up at the house in the mid afternoon. He did not take long to inspect the compliance of the work completed. That was a good sign. The inspector did not have any concerns or doubts about the work. That made me feel confident that the job was done properly. The guys began to fill in the trench with the dirt. The backyard was done by hand and the front yard was completed with the back hoe. The front yard had to be filled in with the back hoe because the trench in that part of the yard was fairly deep. It was nearly five feet deep. It would not have been practical to shovel all that dirt by hand. Finally, the guys spread grass seed and some pine straw over the dirt. I really want to thank Jay, the crew supervisor, for a professional job. He was professional and courteous. The other men on the job site were also professional and courteous. I really felt the crew respected my property and really respected me. Please do not judge the quality of the work performed by the appearance of my front yard. You may drive by my house and notice that I have a bit more dirt exposed as compared to other houses with a sewar line installed. You need to take into consideration that I had much more linear feet of pipe installed compared to some of my neighbors' homes. The reason for that is because the crew could not run pipe straight from under my house to the city connection. The layout of the plumbing under my house did not allow for a practical connection to the city right of way. The more linear feet of pipe you lay the deeper you have to dig your trench to the city connection in order to allow for a proper downward slope of the pipe. Parts of my front yard had to be dug nearly 5 feet deep in order to allow for the proper slope of the piping installed. It had to be completed that way in order to be compliant with the city inspection. I had twice as much dirt dug up compared to my neighbor. His line was able to be installed from underneath his home to the city connection. The crew had to use the back hoe in order to fill the trench in the front yard. It just was not feasible to fill the trench in by hand shovels. The crew ran the back hoe over the trench numerous times in order to ensure that the dirt was properly packed into the ground. A little bit of my grass in the front outside of the trench area was roughed up. Again, you have to take into consideration the amount of dirt that was dug out of the ground. The operator of the back hoe had to go behind the high mounds of dirt in order to push it into the trench. My backyard has a lot less dirt exposed because the crew was able to fill the dirt in with hand shovels. The trench in that area was far less deep because that is where the pipe line began. Do I wish that my front yard ended up looking like my back yard? Sure I do. But you have to take into consideration what the crew had to do in order to make the job compliant with the city standards. The pipe caps in my backyard are a little bit above ground level. The technician actually had me watch him cut the pipe and apply the cap on top of it. I told the technician that I wanted the caps in the back yard a little bit higher so that they can be easily located by a plumber. Overall I am very satisfied with the work completed by Mckenzie Plumbing. My instincts tell me that I won't have an issue with the sewage line installed. I can sleep at night with a feeling that my new sewage line will work properly for many years to come. Some people may be turned off by how the area dug up in the front yard looks. You have to look at this job realistically. Your yard is not gonna look the same after the job is completed regardless of who you get to install your sewage line. I keep in perspective that a line could not be run straight from under my house to the city connection and that the crew had a lot of utility lines that it had to dig around. It is recommended that customers get at minimum three estimates. I strongly feel Mckenzie Plumbing should be one company you consider when seeking multiple estimates for plumbing projects. I am confident that Mckenzie Plumbing will do a job right the first time.

I called to request a quote for a residential bathroom remodel. Despite what the Angie's List information states, they informed me that there would be a $45 "service fee" for the quote, in addition to a $125 "distance fee" for the quote, to service me (in Moore County). I can understand a premium for distance service (as is stated in their description) but that is quite a price just to get a quote.
