Joe Mareka and his crew did a fantastic job in replacing worn out 20 plus year old shingles and skylights.. The work performed was through and done to specifications. We have had one of the wettest Springs and early Summers on record and there has been no leaks. The number of Velux skylights that had to be replace made the job seem expensive, but the cost of the actual roofing work to remove and replace shingles, re-flash chimneys, was quite reasonable and worth what was paid. The crew worked very clean and removed all construction trash. We would definitely recommend Joe Mareka if you need roofing work performed.
Description of Work: Replaced 18 leaking skylights worn out roofing shingles and rotten sheathing as needed.

Shingles had blown off my roof during a storm on the night of 6/2/2013 and rain water was leaking through my ceiling. It continued to rain throughout the morning of 6/3/2013. I did not think I could get anyone on top of the house to fix the blown off shingles. I telephone Carolina Roofing at 7:00a.m. Mr. called me back at 7:30a.m and told me that he had let his crew off because it was too stormy, but would find a helper to come to my house and "see what he could do to help me". It continued to rain. About 9:30a.m., he and another nice man drove up, looked at the roof and said that they could fix it. They stayed on top of my house for about 45 minutes and nailed the singles back on. They also fixed some other "weak" spots that I did not know were there. Blessings to the nice men who helped me out on a very stormy day. I would use them again and I would highly recommend Carolina Roofing.

I had good experience with them. He called me back and his estimate was considerably lower than the others in the area. He came out and did the job in one day and seemed very nice and professional. I really kind of got a good impression like he's been there for a long time. He was nice to me in person and shook my hand like we've known each other for many, many years.

I first contacted them at the beginning of October, and within 3 days the owner came out to examine the roof and give me an estimate. The work was done about four weeks later. The crew was here on time, worked the whole time they were here, cleaned up thoroughly both days before leaving, and were completely professional at all times. One of the selling points for me was another review on Angie's List where the reviewer mentioned that he had dogs and that the crew was good with the dogs and made sure there were no stray nails in the dog lot. The same was true at my house. I have two large dogs in a fenced in back yard and everyone on the crew was nice to the dogs and considerate of them. They did not throw any of the debris down in the dog lot, and when they were done with the back side of the roof, they went over the dog lot with a big magnet to make sure there were no stray nails. The work was about $200 over the estimate, but that was my fault. After they started, I asked them to replace some of my trim boards, so all in all, I'd have to say their estimate was on target. I would definitely use them again and do recommend them.
Description of Work: I wanted the old roofing, tar paper, and any cracked or damaged wood replaced. They also had to do the trim around my chimney and vent hole. I wanted the "whirlybirds" replaced with a ventilation strip along the ridgepole. I also have a flat roof over the front porch that needed to be replaced.

I called and Joseph went out that day to look. He called back the same day with an estimate saying he had the materials and would do it next week. He came the next Thursday, finished it and called to tell me he had and left an invoice. It came exactly to what he had given the estimate for. I would definitely call him or recommend him to my friends and neighbors.

I recently had a leak in one of my bathroom vents and then in my bedroom so I called to have someone take a look. When I explained the problem to Mr. Mareka over the phone he gave me an idea of the causes and about how much it would cost to fix. He arrived when he said he would and took a look inside and outside. After coming down from the roof he said I had damaged vent pipes and needed shingles replaced. He provided me an estimate of what it would take to fix it and he said he would let me know when he could arrange the repairs. When I returned home that evening he called to tell me that he fixed my repairs that afternoon in which I was delighted because it was planning to rain again. The cost was exactly what he quoted and nothing more. I was happy. It hasn't really rained hard since so I am not sure if the problem is fixed but I will soon find out. This was great customer service and if I need roofing service again I will definitely call him again.

They did an excellent job. The quality of the work was excellent and I have no dislikes. Those poor fools got up there on the roof and worked even in the rain. They were just as nice as they could be. I had no complaints and recommend them highly. They did not leave one scrap of paper; they even went through here with a magnetic something or another and pick up any loose nails every bush was covered and there was nothing left. The price was extremely reasonable.

I left a message with this company yesterday. Joe called me this morning and asked for some details. I explained that I had a contract to purchase a home and the roof of the garage was leaking. I told him that I was trying to arrange appointments to get estimates for repair. He said he would swing by the house later that day and take a look and then call me. Later that afternoon, he called and said he had been to the house, been on the garage roof, found a hole that he believed was the source of the leak, and repaired it. I was astonished. I asked him to send me an invoice and he said no, I could just call him to clean off the roof if and when we close on the property. He then said that the roof looked fine otherwise and we certainly wouldn't need to replace it. I don't know what more one would want from a business. Prompt, more than meeting one's expectations, and obvious integrity. Given all of that, a strongly enthusiastic review here seems rather insufficient.

After calling an appointment was setup, they came out took care of the job and left a through note and invoice describing what was done. They even explained everything to us over the phone later to clarify some questions we still had.
Description of Work: We had some roofing issues and were comparing an estimate that another company gave us. We received a very different report from Carolina Professional Roofing Inc. Ultimately this second opinion has saved us a lot of money as we did not need to replace our roof as we were told by our first estimator for our issues. Carolina Professional Roofing Inc was very professional on their estimate, they could have agreed with the first estimator and charged us a lot of money for a repair/replacement we did not need.

Very well. Joe was courteous, on-time, kind and fair. He even fixed a few things when he came out that weren't on the original quote without adding anything to the price. We got an in-person estimate and had all the work done within a week of calling the company. I would call Joe or anyone at Carolina Professional Roofing again and recommend them to others.
Description of Work: We called Carolina Professional Roofing for a roof repair in Meadowmont on one of the older original houses in the neighborhood (which my boss owns). Joe Mareka came out to do the estimate within a few days of our call, even though Chapel Hill isn't too close to Mebane. We had paint peeling issues in the bathroom (mostly due to the previous owner painting over oil paint with latex and nothing in between) and wanted to make sure there wasn't an on-going roof leak causing additional moisture problems. We also wanted to take care of any repairs that needed done since no one had looked at the roof in awhile. Joe fixed some minor issues, including replacing a pipe boot, fixing loose nails, replacing metal flashing and adding five rows of shingles and an ice/water shield along the back.

I contacted the company and Joe called back and arranged a time to come to give an estimate. He came and spent an hour in the rain to figure out what's wrong and gave me a quote, which is very reasonable. His team came a week later and fix the problem. Joe said that they were more interested in roofing - large jobs. But I am glad he treated small jobs like this well. They are capable and reliable. I will use the company again.

This was a great experience. First, Joe came to my house the day after I called him, walked the roof, and gave me an estimate. We scheduled a time, within a week, for his crew to come and do the work. This company did more than I had asked. They fixed the leak in the roof by cutting out a rotted section and laying plywood. They then covered it with shingles. Then Joe did something wonderful. He walked the roof again and found that the fireplace needed caulking. He did the caulking work, as well as cleaning all my gutters. The estimate was right on the money, less a 10% discount for belonging to Angies List. I highly recommend Carolina Professional Roofing. Based on this experience, I am fairly certain that they can satisfy all roofing needs. I highly recommend them.

They were terrific. They also did our neighbor’s roof. The neighbor liked them very much as well. They were very good. Their work was very solid and the price was very fair. They charged us probably $9000 for a very large roof. It might even have been less like $7000 or $8000. They brought in somebody else to do the gutters. There was something leaking, but they came out and fixed something that had deteriorated. It might also be that it was from a gutter. So it was decent and they stood behind their work. They didn't charge us anything for it. I was impressed with them at that time and I am still impressed by them. That probably was a year ago and it seemed to be the same people. The price was very good compared to several other bids that we got. They did a really fine job. The fact that they were willing to stand by what they did that long ago seemed to speak very highly for them as well. I would use them again if they are around and we are around the next time we need a new roof.

I am going to be selling my house. I called them because I thought I might have a minor leak, and I also wanted to make sure the roof is in good shape before I put the house on the market. Joe called me the day after I called and said he was in the area and could come by. I asked if he could take a look, and if it was not going to be too much, then just do the repairs, otherwise give me an estimate. He looked in the attic for signs of a leak while someone walked around the roof banging on things. They fixed a bunch of minor things in less than an hour. He understood that I wanted to fix what needed to be fix, but not things that were not really needed. They only charged me $75, and I was extremely happy with that.

I am very pleased with the job overall. I have large dogs that run freely in the back yard and was concerned about having to lock them in the house with all the craziness of a roof replacement or the risk of a loose nail finding a foot. The crew was dog friendly and very careful. They left almost no mess and the roof looks amazing. You could tell that everyone takes pride in their work with Carolina Professional Roofing and stands behind what the do. They weren't the least expensive bid, but the little bit extra was more than worth every cent. I would do business with them in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Joe and his crew performed a complete roof replacement. The old roofing was removed and hauled away. Gutters were meticulously cleaned. Poor plywood was replaced. 30 year shingles were installed with all the necessary underlayments and weatherizing. Collars were replaced. No air-pneumatic hammers with his crew; they installed everything the right way - hammer and nails. Ridge vent was installed. Work was completed in a day and a half.

They worked efficiently and cleanly, showed up promptly, and finished on time and generally on budget. There was more underlayment repair than initially expected, so that part of the estimate to actual cost was higher.

Carolina Professional Roofing did an excellent job of re-roofing my house, and met all of my expectations at a good price. CPR is a preferred Owens Corning Roofing Contractor, and I got a good reference from Corning. Joe Marecka, the owner, was on-site most of the time. He was easy to work with and after going over everything during my meetings with 4 bidders, I developed a 2 page specification for the job which became part of my contract with CPR, I was at the house during the 4 day job and it started on time as promised. There were some special items: 2 new attic fans, after inspection revealed the flashing on the old ones was cracked, removal and re-installation of existing gutter guard, paint for the new flashing to match the house brick color, replacement of 14 sheets of roofing plywood and some fascia and soffet board, and brickwork masonry repair under the flashing above a bay window. CPR only removed shingles from roof portions that could be re-roofed during the same day, and did careful cleanup of old shingles and magnetic pickup sweeps for any dropped nails at the end of every day. CPR used plywood sheets and roof-to-lawn tarp drapes to avoid damage to windows, doors and the azaleas around the house when the old shingles were dropped down. Roofing felt (tar paper) and shingles were hand-nailed, not stapled. Joe agreed to a $100 senior discount and a $200 Angie's List discount that I had located on Angie's List. Before I accepted his bid, I checked Angie's List and got 4 references from CPR on previous jobs done in or near my neighborhood from so I could check owner satisfaction. The references were good. The bottom line is that the new roof looks very good, with high quality workmanship, and a good price. I would definitely recommend CPR.
Description of Work: Replace roof with 30 year architectural shingles and 30 lb felt (tar paper); replace all flashing; install waterproof reinforcement in all valleys, chimneys, skylights and at changes in roof pitch; all new pipe collars; reinstall and seal exhaust vent covers and furnace gas stacks, tarp work area and plywood barricade to protect windows, doors, and shrubs; remove all debris from gutters, and meticulously clean work areas with magnets to remove nails, remove and dispose of debris at landfill per EPA and state regulations. Surface area of the roof was about 3000 square feet.

Joe's was the low to middle of my three estimates but was very helpful and accommodated my request for high quality and exceptionally placed undersheathing because of some leaks in the old roof. His people were well equipped and efficient and he was there almost all of the time they were working. The subcontractor who he called to do the guttering was as well. The most exceptional thing about the company is that after finding a small leak in the new roof, which did not reveal itself for 3 years (because of the very dry weather), I was able to call him and within 4 hours was pleased that he and his helper arrived, diagnosed the problem, ADMITTED THAT IT WAS THEIR MISTAKE, fixed it and refused any payment, saying that it was still under warranty for leaks caused from errors on their part. What a refreshing attitude. It was supposed to rain the next day and I was going in for surgery with security of knowing my problem was solved. If not, he said to be sure and call him right away!

Joe is a great communicator and easy to work with. His estimate was competitive, and he charged the exact amount we agreed upon up front. I had a few questions about the flashing repair that his crew did. He personally inspected the roof and discussed my concerns at length with me. He recommended some additional flashing repairs which his crew performed promptly at no additional charge. I was very happy with the overall job. I plan to use him for another job, and have already recommended him to friends.
Description of Work: Joe's crew removed the old shingles and hauled them off, cleaned up the area of debris and nails with a magnet, and replaced the roofing materials with shingles of my choice. They replaced and updated the flashing, added plywood to the porch roof, and updated the existing porch gutter system.

Since this is my first "re-shingling," I have nothing to compare to, however I cannot imagine anyone could do a better job. Mr. Mareka made an accurate estimate, changed dates to suit our schedule, and checked progress of the work several times a day. His crew worked efficiently and steadily.
Description of Work: Visited site for an estimate promptly. Gave references when asked and house locations to visit that he had roofed recently. Removed 1 layer of old shingles, nails, felt and then installed new materials. Replaced fascia boards damaged by carpenter bees. This involved moving and then replacing gutters. Placed tarps to provide protection to decks even over shrubs. The job took two days. Site was cleaned thoroughly both days after work. Used magnets to get all the nails around the house.
