Smoothest, most professional job ever. We can’t say enough good things about Joe Mareka and Carolina Professional Roofing. Our 20-year-old roof didn’t have any problems but we wanted to replace it before anything went wrong, plus we wanted larger capacity gutters throughout. . We called Joe, who came over that very day and gave us a price. We thought about getting other estimates, but we had used Joe once before for a very minor roof issue 5 years ago and he was fantastic; the price was reasonable, plus we checked Angie’s List reviews and the BBB - all totally positive, so we hired him. Joe told us they could start September 2; on August 30 he called and confirmed, then delivered materials to our property. He and crew arrived early on September 2. He stated maybe 3 hours and made sure everything was going the way it should. The crew of 4 men worked 10 grueling hours, taking reasonable breaks and lunch but otherwise working very hard. They were incredibly neat, covering the plants, sweeping the deck several times, using a magnet device to locate any errant nails. By the time we came home from work on 9/3, the roof was done. You would never know they had been there, everything was left so neat. Due to approaching Hurricane Dorian, gutters were postponed till the following week and were completed on 9/10. Joe did not ask for any deposit up front (which we would have been happy to pay), just told us “You can pay me when the job’s completed.” Which we did. We’re totally impressed with this company.

End product was good, but work said to be completed had not been inspected. I had to call them back three times to fix (the same) things that had not been completed or needed to be corrected. Again, good end product but you will need to carefully check behind the workers as management is not doing this.

Joe and his crew were great! Cleaned up carefully before they left every night; arrived bright and early on our agreed date; finished in 4 days; cost exactly what he had estimated. I have a 2 story, 2800 sq ft house with multiple roof lines and sky-lights and had requested estimates from several roofing contractors who were highly rated on Angie's List. All the price estimates were in the same ballpark [~11,000] - I finally selected Mareka because he has a stable crew and most have worked with him for many years, so they work together very efficiently.

This was a very smooth operation, completed within the time estimated. The end result looks beautiful and we are very pleased with the job.

The work was done efficiently and on schedule, and, considering how much old material is sent to the ground, the cleanup was spotless. The manager (the company owner) was on site often and was very accessible to discuss questions.

Great. The job started when promised, took 2 days, as estimated, and they did a great job on the roof and in their cleanup. In fact, the yard looked better after the job was completed than it had before they started. Thumbs up to this service!

Joe was punctual and professional about assessing my old roof and providing an estimate. The crew that did the work was quick and thorough. They arrived when they said they would. It took them 2 days to do the work The results looked very good. The clean up during and afterward was very good. They had to replace 10 sheets of roofing deck plywood.

He sent his crew out a couple of days later, and they repaired the vent. Joe did not charge us for the work. When we get ready to replace our roof, we will call Joe and Carolina Professional Roofing Inc. to do the work. They are honest and reliable.

We had noticed several leaks. Joe came out, cleaned off our roof, and told us that it was time to replace the roof. I had 2 other companies come out and both their estimates were almost twice what Joe quoted. When the team removed the felt and worn shingles, they discovered 11 pieces of plywood were severely damaged. They also had to support 5 beams. The team was thorough and efficient. They did an absolutely beautiful job and the work was first rate. They finished everything in 1.5 days (working 12 hours the first day) to beat a large rain front. We couldn't be happier and would rehire them and recommend them to anyone! They also took down an old antenna, trimmed a few tree branches, and helped repair some damage caused by a squirrel. The house looks great!

They came out on time, they gave us a very reasonable estimate, they did the work quickly and professionally. It was a very positive experience in every way and I highly recommend them!

I had this work done in March. I spent nine thousand dollars for them to put on a new metal roof. The job was fantastic! I would use them in the future.

No complaints at all; he showed up personally, on time, having been flexible about dates with me; he had six workers who swarmed all over the house, ripping off old material, replacing boards as needed--they plainly knew exactly what to do. They worked for several days, dawn till dark; they were very diligent in cleaning up the roofing nails and debris from my yard. There were no surprises on the bill. I discovered the next rain that there were a couple of small leaks around my skylights; Joe quickly got his people back out to address that, and I think they are sealed again. It's a local company, many of the employees are long-term. I'd use them again.

We've been very pleased with CPR's quality of work and quick turn-around. The crew completed the job in less than 1.5 days.

Joe Mareka and his crew did an excellent job installing our new roof. Joe was very responsive to voicemails and came out twice to perform the estimate and answer follow up questions. Out of four quotes, his was second lowest and his wood replacement costs were the most reasonable. The crew worked hard and finished up late on the second day after encountering a trouble spot that required a good deal of wood replacement and rebuilding. My yard was left very clean considering the considerable amount of debris that was removed. The new roof has been in place for several months now and we have had no problems.

He provided an experienced crew that were craftsmen! They insisted on using hand hammers that do a more accurate job of placing the new shingles. The surrounding shrubs and ground were covered with tarps and scraps were hauled off. The area was carefully leaf blown and policed and left cleaner than when they arrived. A First Class Group and Job!

The work which they did was superior to what had been done before because they put sheets of plywood underneath the shingles. Because they did this I don't have all of the junk falling down through the shingles into my attic. They kept the area very clean all the time they were working.

We had a leak inside the ceiling off our master bathroom, which we assumed was a leaking roof. Plus we had had a small roof leak in the living room a couple months before that my husband, who has some experience, had patched with tar. So when the second one happened, and with a 15-year-old roof, we assumed we would have to replace the roof. Well, Joe evaluated and discovered the rubber boot around one of our plumbing vents leading up to the roof was defective/worn out. Joe made the repair and charged us $100. We were so relived, since we assumed we would be told we needed a new roof. Joe could not have been more professional or more ethical. He did a thorough roof inspection, called my husband, told him the problem and that he could fix it the next day while we were at work; that he'd leave us a bill and we could just mail a check. He told us our roof was in good shape and we likely had 4-6 more years before it would need to be replaced. You can bet that when the time comes, Carolina Roofing is the first place we'll call - and we'll recommend them to our friends, because we completely trust Joe. He could probably have made a replacement roof sale, but instead did the ethical thing and just fixed our leak. Thanks, Joe, we won't forget you!

From our call for a quote to the finish, all went professionally, as we would hope. Joe responded quickly and by appointment to our request for quote. He was obviously thorough in his review of our needs and our options, wrote out the list of items to be done, and gave us a written quote while he was here. We had no leaks but did need to have some work done, such as staining of the house, prior to his doing the roof, so he was upfront with us from the beginning that he couldn't actually schedule us (indicating if we had problems such as leaks, he would do so) until we could give him a date when we would be ready and told us he was scheduling about 6 weeks or more in advance. When we called first of October to tell him we were ready, he told us he was putting us on calendar for Monday, Nov. 25, if ok. We agreed. About a week before the 25th, he called to confirm that materials would arrive on Friday and they would be here at 8:30 a.m. on Monday as agreed. From beginning of the work to the end, the crew was methodical, efficient, careful to clean up. They obviously had good teamwork and Joe was present much of the time and helping. It was rainy the next two days and he called on Wednesday morning to confirm there was still rain at our house so they couldn't come that afternoon but asked if ok if they worked on Thanksgiving day to finish. They did and finished on Friday. In the process they found two spots where plywood needed to be replaced, so the cost of the plywood was the only extra cost beyond the quote. We didn't expect them to paint the flashing and exhaust fans, but they did, which made for a good finish. We have already recommended Carolina Professional Roofing to others. Update 4/7/14: We discovered that the roofers had replaced the leaf guard for gutters in one area but forgot to secure them in so when we had a hard wind the lightweight guard was flapping. We called and left Joe a voice mail on Sunday evening, thinking he would get message the next morning. In just a few minutes, he returned the call and assured us he would be there next day and he was. No damage occurred and he was quick again to respond. It is understandable that errors are made and it was not something that was evident from post-work inspection. Again, we appreciated the quick and professional response of Joe and his crew. As Joe had also indicated, the roof shingles lay down flatter and look better after a bit of time, from the finish date.

Joe Mareka came over and we reviewed the steps he would carry out during the installation. I prepared a one page owner's checklist which summarized what we had discussed. Installation was done by three men in about 4 hours and was done perfectly. The gutters were cleaned by hand before the gutter guard was installed. Downspouts were checked to make sure they weren't clogged. Minor branches on top of the roof were removed. After completing the installation, the work area, deck and rear patio were cleaned including a magnetic sweep to remove any screws or sharp metal. The old gutter guard which was removed was taken away for disposal. Another company had installed the old gutter guard years ago. (It was a coarse wire mesh which never worked well, and required constant cleaning.) I was very satisfied the installation of the new Leaf Shelter gutter guard. Carolina Professional Roofing had installed a new roof for me in 2008. They did an excellent and very professional job, and I did an Angie's List review for that job too.

FROM THE FIRST CONTACT TO THE CONCLUSION OF THE WORK THE OWNER AND WORKERS DID SATISFACTORY WORK IN A TIMELY AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER. WITHOUT ANY EXTRA CHARGE THE OWNER MET WITH ME SEVERAL EXTRA TIMES TO SATISFY MY MANY INQUIRIES.

We had a leaking vent stack on our house. Joe responded quickly to my call and took care of the repair the next day. I felt his rates were reasonable and his service prompt and professional.

It was excellent from beginning to end. When Joe came out, he wrote down the estimate on one page. Everything was spelled out and that page became my contract. He was the only one of the three who did that. The workers were very skilled and they went above and beyond.

Our animal shelter in Mebane was in desperate need of roofing for a structure in our dog play yard that provides the dogs with shade in the summer and protection from weather in the winter. I called Mr. Mareka and left a voice mail after reading Angie's list reviews and seeing that he was careful in his work around animals. He called me back within 5 minutes and said he'd be happy to take a look at the structure. He called me back within 48 hours and said that he would be happy to help, and he offered donate his time and the materials since we are a non-profit! Other roofers gave me an estimate of $1500.00 for the labor alone! He and his team came out within two weeks and installed the roof. They were professional and quick and we couldn't be more thrilled with the work they did for us. It is uncommon to find such a responsive and generous service provider these days. We are spreading the word about Carolina Professional Roofing and would recommend them without hesitation.
