Called up Volt at 2:30 Friday afternoon and explained that I needed someone to take a look today, because my tenants couldn’t reliably run heat or other appliances. Within the hour Steven was onsite, called me, talked through all the possible and likely causes, identified the fix (faulty 100am service breaker needed replacing) and had everything fixed by 4:30 that day and worked with my tenant to confirm that all looked good for them. He then explained all the charges and warrantees, I made an easy payment over the phone (with a 10% discount for Angie’s List customers making a first time service call), and all was good with (my small corner of) the world again. Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive, especially considering the peace of mind that a professional, courteous, communicative, and smart electrician can bring :)

Great job! The stove was not easy to move out to check the outlet, and Eric S. was very careful and did his best to make sure no damage was done to the stove or the flooring underneath it. He stayed until we had it replaced back and made sure it was level and looked good. And his work was good and efficient. I do wish it had not cost quite so much though.

Volt Doctors has proven to me that they care greatly about providing excellent customer service and will go to great lengths to make the customer happy.

Initially, I had some trouble getting a working fix ready. However, the company stepped up and went above and beyond the call of duty to make me happy.

They were super responsive at my call, which I was very happy about, as there were some hurricanes kicking around in the gulf. Jasper, one of the senior guys, came out and looked at the mains box, at the generator I had, and I discussed what needs I wanted to meet in the event of a hurricane or ice store. They had a guy out a few days later to do the bulk of the work. After he was done, he was in a hurry to get out, but I insisted on hooking up the generator and actually testing it. This was where things went bad. The generator hookups did not match the panel they had installed -- four-plug 240 vs. three-plug 120. The workman told me it wouldn't work at all, and it wouldn't run the equipment I'd arranged, and he hadn't known that it was supposed to correspond to that generator. Management got involved, however, and I have to say that they’ve done a super job of clean up in terms of meeting with the inspectors and bending over backwards to make sure I was happy after I indicated I wasn’t.

I have never been more impressed with an Angie's List company than I was with Volt Doctors. Jason was extremely knowledgable and even gave recommendations/quotes on other electrical problems I was having in my home. While I was under the impression they would send someone out to look at the issue, wait a week to give me an estimate, then have to schedule another appointment(s) to finish the project (isn't that how things always go??) - that wasn't at all what happened. Jason came out, took a look at the issue, was able to get me a quote in 5 minutes, and then had the entire project finished in less than an hour! I am thrilled with Volt Doctors, and highly recommend using them.

Great. Mike checked the work previously done by Utilities Tech and concluded it was working effectively. He determined that no further repair was needed at this time. To be sure he checked crawl space for moisture. Greatly appreciated his honesty, knowledge and professionalism. Will be sure to use and recommend in the future.

Technician replaced aged wiring. for pump working again.

Went very well. The office personell were very cooperative and the service workers were knoweledgeable and very cooperative even when I changed my mind about location once.

UPDATE: Eric reached out to me after seeing my review. He apologized for what happened, made sure the inspection was straightened out (I'm legal now), and sent someone to repair and paint the drywall damage. Original review: Given my experience, I'm amazed by their positive reviews. Looks like 3 hours of work will end up running me ~$1500 and take more than a month to complete. 1. Estimate was for $900 ($750 work, $125 inspection fee, and tax). Thought it was steep and that I was missing something. Then the tech spent only 3 hours on the job; I have never paid $250/hr for electrical work before. He must have beefed up the estimate to make his numbers look good. 2. Tech managed to punch not one but 2 holes in my interior wall from the side he was working on. Clearly he had not used a reciprocating saw before. Tech also didn't label the new circuit in the panel; luckily the inspector let me label it. 3. It's been more than three weeks since the work was done, and the city has still not approved the work. Took me weeks of calls to set up the inspection. Then I called Volt Drs and asked them to reschedule from Thursday to Friday due to a late conflict; they said no problem. The inspector showed on Thursday and left a note. Called Volt Drs first thing Friday morning to find out what was going on and if inspector would come on Friday, assured of a quick call back and heard nothing. He showed up on Friday, luckily I was here. But he wouldn't give final approval because of the mixup of days, and because Volt Drs called for the wrong kind of inspection (they called for rough, I only needed final). So I need to pay an additional inspection fee on top of the first one. 4. Their switchboard is a black hole for messages. I've called a half dozen times since the original work and this mess is still not straightened out. No one there ever returns calls, at least not once they have your money. I should have held back the final payment until after the inspection was passed. 5. Tech showed up at 9:15 for an 8 AM appointment. Typically, this is not a big deal to me, but when I'm paying $250/hr I appreciate a little punctuality.

Great! Darrin took care of the outlet in no time flat and took the extra time to look at all aspects of my bathroom fan to make sure all was working as it should. He showed up right on time and was very professional and did everything necessary to get things back in working order when he was done. I would definitely call again.

It went well. Apparently a staple had gone through the electrical wiring, and caused the lighting fixture to not operate.

They came twice in this month. It was 2 different weeks, they came a week apart. It was all one job though. It took them 2 days and it was spilt up, because of my schedule it was split up over a couple weeks.

JP kept looking until he found an outlet with exposed wire that was arcing--thorough, persistent, professional and conscientious. Eliminated a potential fire hazard.

Showed up 1 day late. They agreed to come to the house for a free quote estimate ---- but never sent an estimate. Did not even respond to the email. I thought is a credible place to look for credible contractors. Guess the Angies List reputation has gone down as well (???) Will never use this provider again.

It was like $90 just to come out. Then they had to go get some stuff.

Work performed on time and for fair price.

Kenneth M. did an outstanding job addressing several electrical tasks in our new home. He was professional, prompt, and courteous, and the amount he charged was exactly what was quoted. Would definitely hire again.

Todd called me prior to my scheduled appointment and arrived exactly when he said he would. He was extremely professional and respectful, from initial greeting to settling the payment. He reminded me upfront about the diagnostic fee, which I agreed to, and then he quickly diagnosed the problem (broken switch), quoted the price of repair, and made the repair. Overall, I am very pleased with my interactions with Todd and Volt Doctors. I highly recommend them and will surely use them again for future electrical repairs.

I went into shock being told that to change 2 switches would cost me $314. Really?! There was the trip charge $89 which I had not been warned of, another $89 diagnostic and then the actual work. NO, I said. The tech called his supervisor and we all negotiated so that I could get by with the one bad switch and they'd forgive the trip charge. Then the guy didn't have the right switch in his truck and had to go to Home Depot or some such. I like that they worked with me, but no way can I pay $178 just base line not even including the work each time I'd call for an electrician. Have to look around to someone else because next time I'd know about the trip charge. I guess this padding must pay for their TV ads and that's why I'd have to find a smaller company with less overhead to pass on to the customers.

Initially had issue with service, however, wonderful customer service response from owner and manager. Exceeded expectations. They care about their customers and their business and I would use them again.

Very responsive and punctual. Identified the issue very quickly. Acknowledged that it was a simple fix so they only charged me the diagnostic fee. I would definitely use them again!

The work was done professionally and in good time.

James was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He replaced the fixtures and quoted repairing the two switches. I chose to replace one. He switched out the two ceiling fixtures. He is researching the correct thermostat to use, if possible, for my brand of in-floor heating. I'm glad I found Volt Doctors through Angie's List. I will use this company again.
