Sierra Structures

The land terrain in Historic Hope Valley is far from flat so we were uncertain that we'd be able to get a fenced in yard. I'm a very picky person with high standards of quality. From the start, Kenny took his time and made suggestions for the fence. We changed the design and the scope of the project and Kenny was very patient and worked with us to get the look we wanted. We requested Chris as our installer based on other reviews. Chris is exceptional. He is professional and communicated with us during the entire project. We wanted to use modern hardware and Chris worked with us to select options. He incorporated our requests and always told us in advance if there was an issue that required adjustment. You won't find anyone with a stronger work ethic and knowledge of fencing. As I said, I am picky, and Matt provided support for the details that we wanted. We considered another local company. Thankfully, we chose Sierra and the end result is a modern style fence that complements our mid-century modern home. If you want QUALITY and a company that will work with you to get the final design product you want, then Sierra Structures is the easy choice.

I was utterly satisfied with my experience with Sierra Structures. Communication was stellar, and I was a bit of a pain because I wanted to know ALL of my options (different sizes, number of gates, materials) before making my decision. I was very impressed at how accommodating they were with that. The guy who installed the fence was prompt, professional and efficient. When weather caused scheduling delays, I was kept well-informed; and when there was an error with one of the gates, it was fixed so quickly I hardly would have known there was an issue had they not told me. I would definitely recommend this company and would use them again in a heartbeat.

They were quick to respond to my query. We scheduled the work ahead of time at a house we were in the process of buying. Everything went smoothly with the scheduling. They gave me a free estimate and two options for the area fenced. I ended up choosing the more expensive one and I'm glad I did - it covers a lot of ground. The estimator (Jody) did a great job making sure I knew what I needed, even suggesting a couple of things (like a double gate for a lawnmower) that I hadn't really thought about and have turned out to be really important. They came out and dropped off the materials ahead of time even! On the scheduled installation day, they were on time, professional, and got right to work. My back yard has a steep grade on one side - they made it beautiful and made sure the fence is exactly what I needed. It would have taken us forever to do the work ourselves, and not looked nearly as good - this was well worth the money. I would absolutely use them again.

On April 12, 2015 (Sunday) I completed their online Request an Onsite Fence Estimate form on their website. The following morning I promptly received a call from their office explaining to me that there are 2 ways they can provide an estimate: 1. an appointment when someone would need to be at the house, or 2. a drive-by in which one of their folks would stop by whenever they were in the neighborhood and see what needed to be done. I chose the drive-by. The lady on the phone explained that it would be 2-3 days before someone could get down to Apex, which was fine by me. By Friday, April 17, I had not received a call, so I called them to find out when they were expecting to drive by. A man on the phone found out that one of their guys was expecting to stop by our house that afternoon. So far, so good. But then, nothing. No calls, no emails, no follow-up, and it's now 5 weeks later. I should not have to call repeatedly to find out what is going on with my request. Despite their initial prompt reply, they get an F because they never came by and never followed up. So now I'm looking for a more responsible company.

The crew set most of the posts on the first day. We had around 300 linear feet of fence, so this took a while! The morning of the second day, a four-man crew came out and set the rest of the posts and actually completed the fence by 5:00. There were maybe about 5 or posts that had to be set the second day, and it rained cats and dogs around lunch. It will be interesting to see over time how well those posts were able to set. We have 4' reinforced gates on either side. We had asked that they leave a few inches under the gate on one side so we could lay a paver walkway, and the crew did just that. It was nice not to have to remind them. The crew did a good job cleaning up, as well. I think they only left one or two items of recyclable garbage behind--no big deal. The fence really looks nice. We had several estimates before deciding to use Sierra Structures. They were the only company that offered reinforced gates and cement setting of EVERY post. Other contractors wanted to only use cement to set every third post or so. That just didn't even sound like a good idea to my mind.

It went very well. They were very responsive, punctual and professional. Since we had to go through the HOA they gave great advice as to how to fill out and draw the fence on the form. They always informed us as to how things were progressing with the fence. I would recommend them to anyone.

Excellent service, courteous staff, available and quick response to questions

Sierra Structures built a 6 foot privacy fence for our yard. They were great to work with. They quickly scheduled an appointment and promptly provided an estimate. When we changed our design, they responded quickly and provided a revised estimate. The work was completed very soon after we paid the initial deposit. The installation went well and the installer was very considerate. The final work far exceeded our expectations. The fence itself is one of the best looking privacy fences I have ever seen. I would not hesitate to use Sierra Structures again, and I highly recommend their services.

I had no problems with them. They were very good walking us through the process, helping us to decide on the fence lines, and the install was problem free. The fence has been there several months now and still looks brand new. We went with the black chain link. Not a lot of details with fencing but anytime you have a contractor arrive on time and do solid work with no hassle or problems is rare. We were pleased and would use them again. WOW!!!!!!!

It all went very well. They did a very professional job. They cleaned up after themselves.

On 09/30/14, the estimator came to our home to look at the job and give us an estimate. On 10/9/14, we signed a contract and gave them a 50% deposit. We were told on that day that they had to order the railing, that it should take approximately 2 weeks to arrive, and that they would call us once it did to schedule the install. On 10/24/14, when we had heard nothing about the railing, we had to contact Sierra to find out that our railing would actually take 4 1/2 weeks to arrive and that they couldn't install it until 11/10/14. On 11/10/14, the installers arrived. They put one side of the railing in, and informed us that they couldn't put up the other side because some of the parts were missing due to the supplier not sending all of the right parts. We were told that the missing parts would be expedited. We also inspected the portion of the railing that was installed, and found multiple gouges and dents with missing paint, in the supposedly "new" railing. We immediately contacted Sierra, who at first said they would use touch-up paint to fix it. When we said that was unacceptable, as this was supposedly a new railing that had deep gouges that would need to be leveled out somehow, Sierra reconsidered and told us they would replace the damaged parts at the same time they came to install the rest of the railing, all of which would be expedited. Two weeks pass with no word, so we contacted the office to find out that the missing and new pieces would not arrive for 3 1/2 weeks and they could not install them until 12/5/14. On 12/5/14, they finally came and installed the additional railing as well as replaced the damaged pieces. We were also informed that, in actuality, it wasn't the supplier who made the error but Sierra because they failed to order all of the parts. So from 10/9/14, the day that the railing was initially ordered, all the way until 12/5/14, we had no front railing and yellow caution tape all over our front steps (as the steps are rather high and this occurred right over the Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays). Ultimately, we received a complete and satisfactory product, but it took entirely too long and Sierra in no way expedited or attempted to do anything to to make amends for the multiple errors or inconvenience they caused. Be wary, you may actually get your product, but it will take you months to do so.

They were very prompt on the day of our appointment. I had an estimte later that same day. They did a very good job on the fence.

In late October I contacted Sierra Structures as a third estimate for a fence job at our residence. Kenny met me at the property and we walked the property and discussed the location of the fence and the gates. After coming up with an estimate (which was between the other two estimates) Kenny and I went back and forth on email discussing fence types and adding an additional dog run. He sent me a contract which I signed. A few days later we met at the property and Kenny remeasured and flagged the future fence corners and gates. About two weeks later I got a call from one of their fence builders (Chris) and scheduled a meeting at the property to confirm the design and location. He offered me a few options regarding post placement and gate locations which turned out to be great advice. I returned to the property after construction had begun and asked Chris where his crew was... he held up his hands and said "here they are". Turns out Chris is a perfectionist and works better by himself. Being the same, I was not only impressed with his attention to detail but his work ethic. He set more than 70 posts and 570 feet of fencing in cold and rain and only once complained when he cut his finger. Chris made me aware that he wouldn't be able to complete the fence by Thanksgiving but would return the following Saturday and finish the project... which he did. After completion, I received an email from Matt who is VP of Construction for Sierra. He wanted to know if I was satisfied with the work and if there was anything that needed to be addressed. Yes and no. My family is very pleased with the fence, Chris' craftmanship, and Sierra's professionalism.

They were more of a mom and pop place. I had looked at a few providers for the cost and they were right in the middle.

Kenny was great to deal with. He was very responsive and always punctual. He was honest about all the work to be done as well as helpful dealing with my HOA. They completed the job in the specified amount of time even with inclement weather that delayed them. Built a very sturdy fence and were easy to deal with.

It was a free estimate. They came out and gave me a detailed quote.

Very professional before, during, and after the installation. Very good job and they focused on the details I'd requested.

We had previously used Sierra Structures to design and install a wood fence. We now had them install the same fence in another place. They were prompt and did a good job.

Called to schedule estimates for extensive repairs to fencing around two homes, both in town and within four minutes drive of each other. I was politely told that there was a $35 estimate charge for repair estimates, and that I should e-mail pictures to avoid the charge. I explained that I wanted to discuss various fencing options on site, that I may replace some fence with something different. I didn't think that would work via e-mail. I commented that other contractors provide free estimates, and I did not want to pay $35 (or $70) for estimates. That made no difference. I have never had to pay any contractor for estimates, and I won't be paying Sierra.

The folks at Sierra Structures went above and beyond to make this project successful and affordable. The estimator, Kenny Hicks, came out quickly to look at the steps, and his estimate was thorough and transparent. My questions were answered thoroughly and with obvious expertise. Even when I asked for what I thought would be significantly more work to be done, the estimate only increased a small--almost unbelievably so--amount. Work began only a few days after signing the contract, and Narciso and Freddy were absolute pros. They arrived early, they were very pleasant to talk with, and their work is exemplary. I cannot say enough good things about this company, really. They are the perfect balance of quality and affordability.

Sierra Structures exceeded all our expectations. This project was drama free. Kenny and Matt were awesome to work with while working out the details. They communicated well and were prompt with responses. Matt especially helped us better understand the whole process. When it came to demolition and construction Narciso and Freddie came in and wore it out. They were friendly, respectful and hard working. They cleaned the job site every day before leaving. There were no nails or screws left laying around to step on. As the structure came together Matt and Narciso were happy to answer any of our questions. Even when there was a slight change to be made it was a non issue. The job took about how long they said it would even when the rain slowed them down. Every day I would walk around the project looking for something out of place, I found nothing. These guys are just that good. The finished product is amazing, almost flawless. We have much respect for these guys and their workmanship. I would certainly recommend Sierra Structures to anyone. We quoted this job with four contractors. Sierra Structures was the most responsive, quickest to come on site for a walk through, most knowledgeable and provided the best value. We got all the we paid for and then some. If I had anything negative to say it would be the electrical quote was a bit high in my opinion. I requested a dedicated circuit from the panel which is apparently more $$'s than we were allotted in the contract. Matt, the electrician and I were able to work it out to stay within the budget. In the end we still have a dedicated outlet on the deck, so it was a win win.

These guys were total pros. I called 5 fence-builders whose name I got off Angie's List. This was the only company that responded in a timely manner and they did a first-rate job. The fence was finished in a day, per specs, and it looks beautiful. It is soldly built and it actually enhances the look of the house. Thanks!

Sierra Structures did a superb job on both projects. The proposal was well-written, clear and understandable. Wooden fence is A-quality work, as well as the chain link fence. Would HIGHLY recommend Sierra Structures to others.

My wife and I are putting in a pool and therefore need a fence. I called a few places and made an appointment with Sierra Structures for a fence estimate. Kenny Hicks of Sierra Structures showed up 5 minutes early and my wife directed him to our yard where I was observing work being performed. After shaking hands, he immediately began telling me that the men working on a retainer wall were not doing the work properly and they didn't know what they were doing. I told him to hang on a second so I could grab my phone from inside my house to call the landscaper and find out if what Kenny was telling me was indeed correct. As I turned away to get my phone, he rudely asked me where I was going. "To get my phone to call the landscaper like I just said" I responded. He then tells me he's got someplace else to be. I almost had to pick my jaw up off the floor. The man had been there 5 minutes and his next appointment wasn't for another hour. I almost threw him off my property right then, but I figured since he was there, I would let him at least measure our yard and point out any possible useful information I could use for my next appointment. After a call to the landscaper, it turned out that the retaining wall was just fine and that there was a difference of opinion between the fence company and landscaping company as to who was responsible for installing the post holes along the retaining wall. Regardless. Kenny was extremely rude and unprofessional Although he did apologize to me before leaving, it was meaningless. If this is how Sierra Structures speaks to and treats potential customers, please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your fence needs.

They were good. They put the fence up in a day or two so it was very quick.
