Sierra Structures

Overall, we plan to use Sierra Designs for our fence when the time is right and we're comfortable spending that amount. We appreciate the fair estimate and courteous follow-ups, and these days it means a lot when folks do what they say they are going to do, when they say they are going to do it.

They measured and gave me two estimates. One for an all post and rail fence, and one for 81' feet of aluminum fence and the rest of the fence post and rail. I chose the combination of aluminum around the entrance to the house with the post and rail through the wooded area. It was installed sooner then promised! and looks great. I was unhappy when I saw that they drilled into the black metal fence and attached a red sign with the company name. I couldn't just remove it because that would have left open holes in the metal. When I complained the section of fence was replaced with out question.

There were some things we did not agree on. They had good ideas, but we did not end up using the company.

David was very easy to work with and he did an excellent job of not only providing me with the information that I needed and requested, but was also very accommodating with my schedule. They completed the whole job in two days and it looks great and my dogs are so much happier. :)

They quickly came out to measure and discuss. Took a little longer than expected to provide the written estimate. Pricing seemed fair. We ended up not using them. Price was over the available budget.

The service and support was fantastic.

They did an excellent job. There was a crew of 4 men who had obviously worked frequently together. They were all part of the same family. They took a lot of care to see that the deck was built well, and were a receptive to suggestions I made about what I would like. I am very pleased with the result.

I found them on Angie?s List. The representative doing the estimate for the job, David, was very courteous, professional and detailed. We discussed different options of fence types, reviewed the materials that Sierra uses, and delivered a detailed estimate that was very thorough and proved to be quite competitive after interviewing a few contractors. The gentlemen putting up the fence showed up on schedule, worked very hard and were not disruptive in any manner as they worked around the property. Both the workmanship and materials are top-notch and it was obvious their lead guy was a very experienced carpenter. Everything came out looking great. Since the installation, I have received enumerable compliments from my neighbors. The guys appreciate the quality of the wood used and the workmanship and the gals like how pretty it all looks. Great job from Sierra - I would highly recommend them.

Patrick was very friendly and very helpful. We are first time home buyers and didn't really know what we were looking for except that we wanted a fence to separate the backyard from the easement that we noticed people liked to walk through. He helped us figure out where the property lines were and gave us lots of suggestions that we could choose from. Unfortunately we did not purchase the house, but if we ever need a fence we will be sure to call Sierra Structures first.

The overall experience was negative. The quality of the fence is great and I have no complaints about the material or construction methods. I have had numerous neighbors compliment the fence. The original time for construction was suppose to be 2-3 days. All of the material was delivered several days before the crew was scheduled to start and the first day all of the posts were set. The crew of three men dug all of the holes by hand and placed the posts in cement. The next day they arrived and finished all of the 2x4's and some of the pickets. After that they crew did not show up the next day after telling me they would. The following week they arrived after 2pm and said they would finish, but they did not finish because they ran out of material. Again, they were going to return the next day and complete the work. The following day they did not show. During the days they did not show I was never contacted by the company, all communication was initiated by myself. They finally finished the fence a day later, but one of the metal frames did not fit and had to be rewelded. This took 3 more days to be completed. After the metal frame was installed I noticed that a section of the fence that was suppose to be 8' and removable was not built properly. The fence section was 6' 10" and the City of Raleigh required that it was 8'. The salesman said that he would come and look at the fence and have the crew fix it. The following week I received a call to pay for the fence, but it seemed that they forgot to come and fix the removable section. It took one more day for the crew to come out and finally complete the fence. Overall I felt like my project did not matter to the company and they always had an excuse for why the crew did not show. A 2-3 day job was completed in 3 weeks. If you use this company I would suggest getting a time table put into the contract. The fence looks great, but is not worth the hassle

Things went great. I had to wait a couple of weeks after my first inquiry for the deck estimate, owing to the deck guy being on vacation, but I was informed of the projected delay ahead of time. On the day the repair was scheduled, I received a call saying the trailer was having problems and requesting that the job start the following day. I was fine with that. The guys who came out did an exceptional job. Everything was cut clean and installed well. The deck is far sturdier and safer than its original condition, and the new, larger and rust-resistant flashing has saved our walk-out basement wall from water damage. The three man team worked efficiently and well, and they were joined at the end of the day to wrap up the project rapidly. Whenever there was a problem or question, Paco told me what was at stake. I am very grateful he and his team found the problem spot on the outer wall of my home that was missing siding. He saved us a lot of money and headaches! I am looking forward to having the guys at Sierra Structures build our fence this week!

Within a few days they were out and looked over the lot. The first quote may have been eaten by a spam filter, but from then on they were very responsive, developing in total five quotes as my wife and I rethought the exact details. Quotes were delivered by email in PDF form, which was very handy. Within a week of receiving our deposit they contacted us and set up a start date for construction the following week. The majority of the work took about two and a half days -- one day for post hole digging (three men), one day for placing posts and leveling the horizontal beams (two of the three men), and about half a day for nailing uprights (same two men). The crew was very friendly and did not make a mess. We had been asked to clear along the perimeter of the lot and had cut several small trees and moved some rocks, but the crew actually went even further and did a good job clearing. They also dumped the clay that was dug up into a single pile at our request (for another project). A weekend intervened before we had the gates in place but come Monday we had a great fence. Overall it's a lovely fence that looks good and is perfect for our large dog. Only minor thing I did not like is that the default hand latches are a little pointy. They did not send a followup statement of actual costs until requested in a follow-up conversation by phone (came in exactly as quoted). Although a surveying service was available, we chose to use our own. Sierra Structures makes it easy to get a great fence built.

They did a great job. They showed up when they said they would. They were neat and clean and did an excellent job.

Overall, I thought they were fine. They showed up on time and I thought the gentleman was pleasant. However, when I was inside, my husband said he thought the guy was a little rude to him and talked down to him. We got our quote about a week later and I wrote back to say we were waiting on quotes from a couple other contractors. After we received those quotes, I e-mailed back to ask for a follow up quote on a slightly different fence configuration. I never received a response. They were a little less expensive than the other two quotes we got, but due to the lack of response and my husbands bad "vibe" we chose to go with another company.

He did a good job. He was good. We were very happy. We were happy with the price. He was friendly and knowledgeable. If I would have gone online and done the review, then I would have given an excellent grade.

The estimate was around $3500. I called a couple of different companies and they had good ratings on Angie's List. They are local. They were fine. They were pleasant and they came out when they said they were going to come out. The experience was very good. They seemed to be in the ballpark as everybody else. Overall, they were fine. I would consider using them in the future.

They told me that they were not licensed and bonded so I didn't want to use them. Their parent company was advertising outdoor structures and they advertised that they were licensed and bonded. I didn't have any problems with their quote process. They seemed to know what they were doing. I would not consider using them because they were not licensed and bonded.

Everything went really well. We were very pleased with the professionalism of the installers and Shirley, Krystle, and Kenny from the office. The fence looks great and the dog is having a ball!

They were prompt in providing an estimate. The estimate was exactly right. They were the cheapest of all the companies that I looked at. They built the fence in 2 days, which was their original estimate. The only issue I had was that they called all the various companies to mark out the power lines, cable lines, and gas lines. They just moved so quickly that the cable company did not mark their lines in time, so the cable got cut while they were installing the fence. However, besides that one problem they were great, and I would definitely use them again.

They did a very good job and the price was exactly what we had agreeed upon. I could not ask for a better experience.

Originally, I would have given Outdoor structures an F because the quality of their work was extremely poor. But, they did come back and redo the entire job a few days later, so I upgraded to a C. Two guys from Outdoor structures arrived promptly on the day they were scheduled to do the service. I showed them what I needed done, we agreed on the price of $800 and I left for work. I came home at lunch expecting them to still be there, but the job was already done and everything was cleaned up.. so kudos to them for quick work. Unfortunately though, the quality of the work was questionable. There was no consistency in the way the posts were mounted to the joists. Some had notches taken out so the joist sitting in the notch and was screwed into the side of the post. In some places the joist was resting on top of the post and screwed to the post at an angle. On one post, a 2x4 was screwed to the side of a 4x4 and the joist was resting on top of the 2x4 but screwed to the 4x4. Hard to describe.. but I hope you get the picture. I sent photos with my complaints to Outdoor Structures. Matt responded a day later and said that he wanted me to be satisfied with the job. Long story short, he came out and replaced all of the posts at no additional cost. So no harm, no foul.. but it was an inconvenience.

I had a really good experience with them The estimate was very detailed. They were prompt and they arrived on the scheduled date. From there, everything ran on schedule. They also gave me a discount for paying in cash.

Excellent, professional work! During on-site consult, Anthony provided detailed recommendations to achieve customer-supplied concept. He determined best placement for picket gates, construction (split rail with vinyl covered chain-link), and explained the installation process. First, he lays out the fence with stakes, string and flags and leaves it for the customer to "live with" for a weekend. That way, adjustments can be made before the first post is set. It was a great idea - getting used to the enclosure ahead of time. He cleverly adjusted his original plan to accommodate underground service cables. Next, the crew arrives with posts and rails. Most were set the first day, with continuous checks for straight verticals or level rails and hand finishing ends where necessary. After that, the vinyl backing was stretched and tensions made perfect. Finally, gates were built and hung. The final test was letting the dog (Border Collie mix) out and watching her run to the corner where a buck and doe grazed just beyond it. We were afraid she would jump, but she stopped short, sat and watched through the rails.
