Description of Work: CWJ sent an HVAC tech on Friday, November 27, in response to my call to them on Thanksgiving day. He diagnosed the problem; but because the heat pump would produce heat under emergency function, he agreed to return for the repair after the holiday schedule when part would be available. On the following Monday, the office phoned to schedule the replacement of the defrost board. The repair, plus maintenance service of two heat pumps, was complete before noon on Monday.

Description of Work: I was in process of getting estimates to replace duct work, and a Gas pack Heat and Air unit. A friend heard me say this and he told me , Call C.W.J. they are the best around; personal recommendation has always meant a lot so I called, explained what I was looking for,and within either 24 or 48 hours I Mr. David Radford, one of owners met me to discuss replacing the entire system. We looked at the job, I could tell from talking to him he really knew his business. I had wanted to move the unit from back yard to side yard, as the air conditioning was so loud in old unit I had to turn it off if I was on my patio. 2 of the other companies told me it was a bad idea to move the unit, 2 others said they could do it, but they said the newer units are so quiet you won't need to move it, they gave me estimates for it however..High ones.Very high. I asked Mr. Radford about moving the unit. He said absolutely you should move it. First because the duct work will run straight from new Gas Pack down the length of house, eliminating the 90 degree turn in my old system..Straight duct work made sense to me. Also he said though new a.c 's are quieter than what you have here they are still noisy enough to destroy peace and quiet of back yard, or be an aggravation if guests were chatting and using patio and what will be a nice outdoor wood oven/grill/smoker combo,and one of two fireplaces to sit in front of, the other will be a fire pit. I wanted no AC noise in my backyard, knew I wanted it moved to side of house. Only Mr. Radford of C.W.J. saw that it was no big deal to move it and made a better duct system, a quieter back yard, it did raise cost but not too much. I did not know it then, they would be super competitive on equipment and installation of new much better more efficient Gas Pack. The installation crew was on time, polite, did a great job as far as I can tell. Mr. Radford stayed dialed into the job, which I like. I believe the person who sells a system or equipment should oversee installation. That is case with C,W,J. I rent that house so I have not gotten to enjoy the system but will one day live there again.And I know I have a great well installed, efficiently configured heat and air system. The same day I first met Mr. Radford about my house, I was having a problem with the furnace at my Moms house. Another company that had installed AC for her, sent repairman. He misdiagnosed problem, and I spent 129.00 for a misdiagnosed diagnostic, plus the part I bought and replaced he told me was causing problem. I mentioned to Mr. Radford, that gas furnace was not firing up. Told him what other company said. He, listened, asked a question or two, and without seeing the furnace, he was spot on in his thinking of what was possible problem. It was to be very cold, There was no heat due to bad diagnoses by other company. CWJ sent a service man, Enrique, who was excellent. They were very kind and sent him. Same afternoon so my mom, who at her point in life, really does not like or need to be exposed to a home with no heat. With temps going to about 15 that night. He found problem. A group of broken connections on circuit board. He said he could , if he had a type of solder not really used now, fix it instead of replacing circuit board. I happened to have the right solder gun and solder that was just exactly what he needed. I had bought for a buck at a garage sale! Enrique repaired each solder. Made notes of circuit board part number, gave my mom heat, was extremely professional, polite, and extended his already long day to fix furnace for a person who still had never been a customer. At that point I had not made my mind up on the new system as Mr. Radford had just seen job, had not had chance to quote me yet. One other time,an AC problem on very hot summer day at my Moms house..Enrique came and fixed the AC system , again squeezing time in to help my mom, who did not need a house with no AC with heat at 102 outside..and hotter inside than would have been healthy for her. It has taken me way too long to give this review of excellent company I am so far extremely happy I have done business with.I would give them absolute highest ratings in every possible category, and was extremely pleased with all employees who worked at both locations. They really know their trade. Their pricing was very competitive.Very honest when discussing systems, how like any piece of equipment needs to be taken care of, no sugar coating or not being anything but honest and direct. I like that from anyone I do business with. A Great Big Thank You, to CWJ, it is late in coming, but I can say all work they did has so far not had any problems and I fully expect it to remain that way. Highest possible commendations!

Description of Work: Diagnosed and replaced faulty outdoor TXV (heat side of heat pump system). Even though the temperatures were in the teens, the 2 technicians worked efficiently to replace the faulty TXV valve. The entire process was explained to me as well.

The job was completed very quickly and without inconvenience. We found that they do not try to oversell equipment and services and propose only what they believe will be the best value and will provide the best performance and durability. Their price was more then fair. We have continued to work with CWJ and have continued to be very pleased with their service. We highly recommend this Company.
Description of Work: Replaced our outdated heating and air-conditioning outside unit (i.e., heat-pack) and inside thermostat with a new Lennox system. Installation required the removal of the old system, a small amount of site preparation work and the checking of the ductwork under our house.

+ -1 moreWent great! We were previously doing business with another company but they took over a week to get an estimate to us. So, I went on Angie's List and found these guys and called them that day. Someone came by my home to take a look at the system the same day for free!. The person I spoke to was honest and upfront with me about the pros and cons of replacing the coil verse replacing the HVAC and did not pressure me towards a more expensive route. By the end of the day they called back with an estimate and were able to come fix my HVAC two days later! The technicians arrived on time, were polite and there was no mess after they left.

+ -1 moreI called in the morning and was put on a waiting list for later in the week, since they had a lot of requests; but a couple hours later I received a friendly phone call asking me if I was available later in the day. I requested a general servicing of my A/C, but also had concerns relating to the unit itself (capacity for my sq. footage, physical stabilization of unit, etc.) Brad arrived shortly after the phone call and was extremely helpful and friendly, and completely informed and prepared to deal with my concerns. He was finished after an hour, and thoroughly addressed all of my concerns. I would definitely call CWJ again.
Description of Work: Cleaned condenser coil, cleaned evaporated coil, checked system operation, checked pressures and temps.

+ -1 moreOne of the few service companies of ANY kind I've ever dealt with which told me something would happen on a certain date at a certain time and came through every time: for example, they kept appointments as scheduled and called before they came so I could leave my office and meet them. The technicians were on time, knowledgeable, efficient, and personable.
Description of Work: They replaced the damper motor on a zoned heating/cooling system. They also did pre-season check on the furnace.

+ -1 moreWe'd recently moved into the house. During the pre-purchase home inspection, my wife and I had been alerted that the unit might have a year's worth of useful life left. If the CWJ technician had told me that I needed a new unit, I wouldn't have doubted him. Instead, he worked non-stop for two hours and revived the unit.
Description of Work: The aging air conditioning unit in our house quit suddenly during an August heat wave. We picked CWJ based on their "A" score with Angie's List. CWJ was able to get a technician out to the house that same day. He gave the unit a thorough cleaning and replaced the burned-out fuse.

Enrique arrived in uniform, with a company truck, went right to work, was clean, thorough and helpful in showing me the location of shutoffs. Fixed a problem with the insulation that had been causing a lot of noise in the system.

He cleaned the HVAC and checked it for any problems- and in fact found the likely answer for an odd issue that has been plaguing us for three years. He also checked the accuracy of the thermostat. I was very happy with the entire visit!

+ -1 moreDale King, a co-owner of CWJ drove out to my home in Wakefield Plantation (quite a distance from his operation in Durham). He was on-time and very nice and gave me some good information. The next day he called me up with the quote as promised, but was quite frank in recommending that I find someone closer to my part of town as this would save me a lot of money since he needed to factor in travel time into his quote. He finished by giving me some additional recommendations about what to look for and what to avoid with humidifiers. He was very professional and I wouldn't hesitate to work with him again if it wasn't for the distance.
