REGARDING THE SOUTHEND PAINTERS THEY BROKE SEVERAL OUTDOOR FLOOD LIGHTS AND DIDN'T TELL ME ABOUT THEM, THEY TORE A COUPLE HOLES IN OUR SCREEN PORCH, THEY BENT THE SUPPLY LINE TO MY GRILL AND ALL OF THESE THINGS THEY DIDN'T TELL US, I FOUND THESE PROBLEMS MYSELF. THEY ALSO TORE SOME SHINGLES OFF MY ROOF.

They were very friendly when they were there working for me. They were very professional about the job. They had showed up on time and cleaned up everything when they were done.

Now, June of 2008, I have been trying to get him out here for a few months. I've called him day after day, and he always says he will be out but never shows. I think they are a very unreliable painting contractor that sells a product that they are not delivering. One of his salesman sat down like he was going to be our best friend, and everything would be great, but they never really delivered, it was disappointing.

They will give you a lower price when they come over and tell you what they will charge. They will give you a higher bill then they said they would. They where very professinal. They had cleaned up good when they where done. There was only one guy on the crew that spoke english. They where good at coming on time.

They did a near perfect job, were easy to have around, accommodating, friendly and fast!! They even came back when I complained about the paint being flat when I asked for eggshell. I think in retrospect it was the paint quality not the work/job that was disappointing.

OVERALL IT WAS AN AVERAGE EXPERIENCE. THEY WERE VERY SLOPPY AND IT DID NOT APPEAR THAT THEY USED DROP CLOTHS. THEY SPILLED PAINT IN THREE OF THE UPSTAIRS BEDROOMS AND DID NOT NOTIFY ME WHEN IT HAPPENED. THEY DID A POOR JOB CLEANING IT UP AND NOW THE CARPET IN THOSE THREE ROOMS ARE IRREPARABLE. After complaining they responded by reimbursed us for the carpet and did all touchup painting that I requested. Overall the completed job looks very good.

Southend came to the house to give an estimate. The representative was very polite and professional. The cost was very comparable to another competitor. We went with another competitor based on the comments and ratings provided by Angie's List.

They did a good job but there was a little paint on the carpet.

Poor quality work was performed. The crew left our garden hose running for 2 days. Owner was abusive when confronted about quality of work.

After they finished the painting I saw that they had not painted the ceilings in any of the rooms or the trim and they said that I had not specified that in the contract. The person they had doing the painting spoke very limited English and could not understand me when I asked why he hadn't painted those certain areas. I have called the owner twice about my complaint and he has told me he will look over the contract and get back to me. They have not called me at all and I think they have very poor communication skills and poor customer services too. No follow through with what he said he would do! They did a very bad job or explaining their pricing to me. I would not use this company again and I will not be recommending them to anyone!

I did have to keep a close eye on the work that was done so that no corners were cut. They came when the said and completed the work when they said they would.

Work, once completed, was excellent. Crew was a "no-show" on two occasions after calling to confirm appointments. Third time was OK. Crew seemed very uniformed about scope of work, color, finish, etc. It was as if they'd never seen the estimate/order sheet. Southend office was hard to reach but did return phone calls after leaving message.

Crew doing pressure washing moved furniture/plants from front porch into yard; left it all in middle of yard at end of day even though painting didn't start for nearly another week. Carpentry- did not prime new wood before nailing it against house. Fortunately, I caught it and called the company owner. They assured me it was all removed and redone correctly, though I was not there to observe. Crew was very pleasant and the house looks good (all the repairs I requested were done), but I would suggest someone be present to supervise that things are done right from the beginning. I'm disappointed that I couldn't trust the crew leader to do the work right without me having to call the owner- I feel as though I was taken advantage of. On the bright side, the owner promised it would be corrected that day and it seems that it was. I would give them a second chance, but would monitor the work closely.

Southend provided a quote within a day of calling. The quote was extremely competitive. The provided a 15% discount if a contract was signed within three days of quoting. The work was completed within one week of the quote, and I'm more than impressed with the quality of the work. Colors matched exactly, high quality products were used, and the team was very professional and neat.

Original estimate was supposed to include repairs but scheduler said there were no repairs listed. I made the estimator come back out and include needed repairs. Repairs and painting were good. Scraps of wood from window repairs were dumped in natural area behind my house.

The initial experience was good, but the follow up and timeliness of the follow up was not. We expressed concern about them staining the deck in February with the cold temperature and were told it wouldn't be a problem, however, the deck finish did not cure properly and was still sticky after 3 days. There are also brush edge marks visible on the deck where they cut around the corners of the deck, as well as drips along the handrails. After months, the deck does not look like it had been recently treated. We called to complain, and it has taken 3 weeks to get a response. The call today from the supervisor was very defensive and accusatory. He told us he would not fix the problem for free and that we'd have to pay again for another coat. They were not professional at all. I would not recommend this company.

Miscommunication on work requested and work performed resulted in additional expense for a second visit from the subcontractor. Disappointed in level of professionalism and customer service. Payment method was stated to be acceptable initially by one member who quoted the job. At conclusion of the job, that payment method originally agreed to was not accepted.

They did a decent job. I wasn't happy with window installation, but after I told them what was wrong they fixed it. They gave 5 years warranty on painting so if the paint starts peeling, hopefully it will be repainted. They did clean after themselves and even washed the windows after I told them to do it.

The painting went well, the quality was good. The crew was prompt. The price was good, it was comparable to other quotes but then knocked it down even more when they found out I was an Angie's List member. The only minus I would give was that I was given the wrong time when they'd be coming and they came an hour and a half early. I also specified that I wanted Benjamin Moore paint and he called the day before and wanted to use Porter paint. When we discussed it, he made it sound like Benjamin Moore was no good and it left spots on the wall, but I needed specific designer colors which would be hard to match. They ended up using Benjamin Moore because the paint would have been so hard to match and it turned out perfect, no spots at all.

These professionals showed up on time. Everytime. From the estimating appointment, to the prep washer, to the finishing trim guys. Victor S. and his crew attacked the exterior with impressive speed and respect for my property.

We received a quote from Southend Painting in September 2005, and due to an unforeseen circumstance we had to postpone painting the exterior of our house. Early April 2006 we received a call following up on the quote to see if we had our house painted. Perfect timing because we were ready to paint! We decided we wanted 2 coats of paint on the house, and since the original quote clearly stated 1 coat, we asked for a revision. Mr. Rose I believe told us that since we were changing the color of the house that everything would automatically get 2 coats. Again, we asked for it in writing. He said he wasn't sure he could do that, he would have to talk to the owner and call us back. He called back a few minutes later and started back peddling, asking us what color we were going to paint the house because that would have an effect on the cost, AFTER HE JUST TOLD US THAT THE FIRST QUOTE WE RECEIVED WOULD BE HONORED! He wouldn't provide anything in writing. Huge red flag and a deal breaker.

We decided not to use this contractor as they had a few very bad blemishes on their Angie's Progress Reports from previous customers.

They were very polite and worked very hard, but unfortunately did not finish our job to the tune of $5,200 as written in their contract.

I was skeptical from the start. I had my windows replaced the prior week and explained IN DETAIL that they were not to be touched. However, South End Ptg was to pressure wash all of the areas to be painted before beginning. I came home to find that the windows were sprayed down and filthy. What surprised me even more was that our fence, that was to be painted, wasn't even touched. The painters showed up a few days later. One of the painters asked me if he could climb on our canvas awning to paint the fascia board above it. It's sad when the customer has to explain to the "Professional" what scaffolding is. In short, the painting was okay but the CARPENTRY was ? The CONTRACT showed a $500 fee for CARPENTRY work. They NEVER performed any! I finally reached TODD CAHILL, who confirmed that his estimator made a mistake, but I was still expected to pay it. We compromised by splitting THEIR mistake- I pay $200 and they gave me a "DISCT" of $300. BEWARE OF THEIR MISTAKES - YOU WILL PAY!
