Very well. The company had a large crew and was able to finish the job very quick.

A representative came to see me to give an estimate within about two days of my calling to request. After we agreed on a contract, the scheduling department called me very soon thereafter to set up a time. The painting crew showed up on time (even a little early) and walked through the house to make sure they knew exactly what I wanted. The crew leader, Jose, was extremely professional and very nice. It was clear that he is very customer focused. There was a crew of three - Jose, Jessica and Jorge. All were very good at their job and very nice people. I was delighted to see a woman on the crew. They were fantastic to work with and I would absolutely use this same crew again!

The service was performed well. The men were courteous.

They did an excellent job. Saul was a big help. The workers just need to watch the paint drips on the brick.

They did a good job. They worked consistently until the job was done, and finished when expected.

Southend Painting even showed up a day early! Plus, they removed the furniture from the deck for me.

They were an hour and a half late for the first appointment, but they did a great job. They came back another day to paint.

Took 1 day for roofing and 1 day for the painting. Also 1 day for pressure washing approx. Again the same workers worked extremely hard and steady. Extremely polite guys! They no doubt deserve a big pay raise! :-)

The guys did an excellent job- some difficulty with language when super was not on job.

We used their services to take care of the dry rot that was around our garage door as well as some dry rot around the back door. They were going to paint the front door and put on a kick plate on the front door as well. We also spoke to their sales representative to have our shutters replaced upfront which were vinyl shutters. They came out and also pressure washed which was fine. The issue that we ran into was when they went to replace the shutters. They apparently didn?t measure the shutters and they bought the standard shutters that were available at a store. When they got back, we realized that it would not fit which we had to point out to them. So, we ended up having the original shutters reattached to the house and we just opted to have them repainted, as it was going to take an extended period of time to order new shutters. It was difficult to communicate with the crew. They had a foreman who was supposed to be over seeing the crew which was on a different job and it was probably almost 45 minutes to an hour away from where we were. We had to communicate to him by phone and we had to wait for him twice to drive up here, so that we could explain to him about our issues. The people who were here didn?t really understand what we were trying to say. We were not pleased with them and it wasn?t a positive experience.

They contacted me about the work and I asked them to come out to give me the estimate. They came and I showed them around. After looking around they said it would not be as expensive as I though and if I book within three days they would also offer me a good discount. I also found on Angie?s List that they had some bad reviews.

After some delays due to rain a start date was set. The crew showed up the next day after I called. The crew(2) was energetic and busy. No English speaking foreman ever arrived but one of the crew was obviously the head guy. Language bearer existed throughout the project which I feel resulted in many of the problems. I found myself becoming exhausted from managing this project and repeated pointing out missed work from the cleaning of gutters, missed cut-in on painting, missed patch work, missed painting of plain view surfaces, the list goes on. This was not just a few items and even after pointing out issues 4-5 repeated times, some of the work was left unsatisfactory due to the end of my patience and desire to end this frustration. Several areas of damage occured and never accepted ownership. Only one issue was corrected after much debate and heated conversation regarding the necessity of repair "on the back side of the house". One major issue was during the installation of the new storm windows. I was present during the first and noticed the banging. After investigating I found the window was obviously not a good fit. It had been bent and wedged into place. After discussion with the head guy he agreed to trim the bottom. I clearly (in English) informed him that if any of the others have this issue then work should stop and re-evaluate. The remaining windows had the same issue and I found them bent, wedged, and scratched up. Some not able to open/close. I requested the owner (Todd) to visit at this point to share my exhaustion and end of patience with this project. While investigating the windows Todd realized that the crew never raised the windows during painting and therefore missed the inner casing & painted shut. This resulted in the removal of the storms again so he agreed to have them trimmed. By this time so much rough handling had occurred that my windows are much less than new. Some still do not open/close with extra effort. The rest of my notes taken during the job: Gutter (less than two years old) dented - not repaired; damaged aluminum trim - replaced as mentioned earlier in this story; cracked window - not repaired; paint scraping left on roof; storm windows filthy from being left under tree during staging; windows dirty and smudged after repeated work (professionally cleaned last fall); wood replaced at attic vent dissatisfactory; see through areas through-out; front storm door would not close - hired handy-man to correct. The owner (Todd) continuously had negative comments about our paint selection which was pitched as the best option by his sales guy (Billy). I was not an Angie's List member prior to this so I made every effort to address and negotiate the lack of workmanship and quality. Every issue had excuses and explanations which after 4-5 repeated times becomes frustrating and exhausting. I found myself paying the quoted rate and the extra for the storm window trimming that never should have happened and window clean?

Company was to warn siding (Masonite), paint 2 coats, new gutters - original estimator missed 100+ pieces of siding in estimate and had southend employee (later to be found as a independent contractor) supply separate price with the verbal promise that all would be warranted by SouthEnd. All work was o be done per the original manufactures specs, without deviation. During the siding phase it required my constant attention to keep them from cutting corners, the owner was called on numerous occasions and requested that he visit the site to see what was going on, on every occasion he passed the buck to the contractor. When the siding was finished they then proceeded to paint and the replaced siding grey primer could still be seen through the white coat - I was advised that I had only paid for 1 coat and because the siding was not coated properly it began to swell and buckle. Because of my travel 4 days a week I was not able to supervise 24/7. The origonal Masonite siding was replaced if I paid for the upgrade to HardiPlank, which I did - the project was to be finised be 12/12/08 and is still no finished as they broke many items and the contracter phones have no been disconnected for 45 days. The Guttering had to be redone due to leaks and poor workmanship - the Guttering subcontractor did do this and was friendly and responsive. At all times I offered to pay for a quality job and if errors were found or addtional materials all they had to do was tell me how much. The painting contractor still has materials, ladders and power tools on site. As of 6/22/08 I was promised by the owner (Todd Cahill) that he would be at my house mid-morining on 6/22/08 as I wanted to give hem on last chance to make it right. He never showed and he never called. In total I have made over 200 phone calls during this episode and due diligence with the BBB stated they had no complaints. Since this house is being readied for sale I have hired reputable contractors as I will not knowingly sell a house that has problems. A workman's lien is being filled to recover some of the excess cost to due to unfinished work and a complete waste of my time. I was advised the the warranty work n the siding would not be be done until I singed off on the original project. Dead the company description of the Southend web side and they never state subcontractors, only employees, no uniforms, no daily cleanup - the description does not match reality. All my neighbors have commented that they will never use this company after what they have witnessed. The averaege home cost in this southeast Matthews neighborhood is 250 to 300k. This was a very bad family time with the death of my mother and two disabled family members and my primary customers were Chrysler and GM - Southend did nothing to assume responsibly for a positive project even though they were offered extra to finish on time and for better materials. The original siding failed due to using only 1/2 of the required paint

The men were on time everyday. I saw and spoke to the crew leader a few times everyday. They kept me informed as they worked. The work was done very well. I looked over all the work and was satisfied before I paid.

I am very pleased with him. We had a couple of places I noticed after coming home from out of town. He had someone out the next day to touch it up. Based on other times I have had my house painted I would say his prices are fair.

The supervisor and staff were very professional and time conscious. The work did was so much better than the earlier handy people that we had contracted a month before but dismissed with the work sloppily done. SouthEnd Painting is a very good company that I would not hesitate to recommend to others.

I liked their estimate the best. They finished and came out when they said they would.

I called them and they had a salesperson come out-I told him we were having some things done the following weekday and I needed the walls and ceilings done. He had his crew come out on a Saturday so that I wouldn't have to rehang curtains and all that. They were very accommodating.
