No communication, water damage, left a mess around house, damage to window, water in my family room and attic, the house was not washed, they kept missing places, wrong color paint for chimney. VERY unhappy. The proposal was dated February 18th, and we returned the signed agreement within 4-5 days. I stated that I was not in a hurry, and if they could start within two weeks, that would be okay. Since then, we have been scheduled probably 5 or 6 times when no one came and no call was ever received to notify me of a change or cancellation, or to reschedule. When they finally were here, on March 22, about 3 PM, I was never advised before they arrived. I had only been home for a few days after a 4 day stay in the hospital for a heart problem. They were already unloading ladders and a presure washer and I explained again, to the only one who spoke English, that I was concerned about the pressure washer and asked them to turn the pressure down. they said, okay, okay. I then went down to our basement family room to rest. After while I suddenly realized that I had heard them pressure washing the same area for a long time. It was at the rear basement French Doors under the deck. When I went to check on why they were so long in the same place I realized there was water coming in the house through the downstairs French Doors. It seemed like the pressure was way too high. I yelled at them and pounded on the door to get their attention to stop, and got some towels out and a mop and had to clean all the dirty water off the carpeting and inside of the house. I also noticed water on the ceiling and vertical blinds. They were totally oblivious to what they were doing. I went outside and again I asked them to please turn the pressure down, which they ignored. By this time they had moved to another location and were using the washer on the vent soffits, which being vinyl, were being blown around and water was getting into the attic I told them to stop and just finish the house siding. I went back in as they were 3/4 done and I just didn't want to argue. When they were finished they just left, with no word of when they would come back to finish washing the windows and repair and paint the stucco chimney. The next morning, Saturday, as I ate breakfast I noticed the windows on the door from the kitchen to the rear deck were foggy. Then I saw there was actual water and very heavy condensation in the air space in between the inner and outer insulating panes. I went outside to look at the glass to see what had happened and that is when I noticed that the deck had been stripped of about 80% of it's paint. On Monday the 25th, I contacted SouthEnd painting about the window and told them about the deck and basement water from the door. Todd Cahill came out the next day. I showed him all of the problems, plus I had found many torn plastic bags the men had used to keep their feet dry while pressure washing, just lying all around the house. Todd was very sympathetic and understanding at first. He said he was very disappointed in the quality of work and noticed the unwashed windows and sills as well as several areas of the house that they had just plain missed. I told him that I could live with the stripped deck as I was hoping to expand the deck this summer and repaint it anyhow. He said he would take care of the window. South End Painting contacted Rock Hill Glass Company (803-328-5500) and had them come out to take a look at the window. They came out the next day, the 27th. The first question Lee asked was if I had the house pressure washed. He said the pressure washing had broken the seal on the window. He said he would give the quote to South End Painting. I then had a second glass company take a look. Custom Glassworks of Fort Mill (803-548-6693). Matt and Francis asked the exact same question and told me the exact same thing that Rock Hill Glass Company had. They gave me a quote of $445.34 dated 03/28/2013 to replace the glass. I then spoke to the owner of South End, Todd Cahill, who told me that I should pay for half of it because the house is 13 years old. I disagreed and said there was never a problem with the glass before they came, so I shouldn't have to pay for any of the damage. I guess I am lucky that I only had one damaged window. I was told by Todd at that time that his men would be back out in the next few days to hand wash the windows and finish washing the house where they had missed. Time passed but no one has been out since to wash windows, etc. In the meantime, on Thursday the 14th, two of his men showed up to do the stucco repair and were finished in an hour. they were to come back the next day to paint the chimney. They also brought the wrong color when they showed up to paint. I told them I wanted my chimney painted the same color that it was and to match the rest of my house, so I wouldn?t let them use the wrong color. I gave them a piece of siding from my house so they could find something that matches. They were supposed to come back to finish the painting work, and have yet to do that. That was three weeks ago. I haven't heard a word since. I have probably called them 10 times during this whole ordeal and am done with that. Except for having the door window replaced, I don't want to hear from them. I have since washed the house, windows and gutters myself over a three day period, finding many spots they had missed. I have also bought the correct color paint and will be having that painted in the near future, by someone else. I have been very disappointed. I would strongly suggest that anyone considering using Southend Painting to look further. The lack of communication is beyond belief. The quality of work is well below average and the care and concern for the property owner/property is just about zero. Calling this company was a total waste of my time and the extra water/sewage I had to pay for, for the pressure washing. I plan to use their job-site sign to advertise their shoddy work, lack of communication and problem resolution effort. I do hope that Angies list can have some effect on the outcome of this problem. I will notify the BBB and the Attorney General for both NC and SC. SouthEnd should reimburse me for the cost of the damaged window, which by design, intent, manufacture and installation is meant to provide an insulated window. The ruptured seal takes away that quality. When I called SouthEnd for a quote to repair and repaint the chimney, the last thing I had in mind was the grief I would have to endure, slipshod work and a damaged window. That all from SouthEnd's desire to turn a small job into a big job.
Description of Work: Birds had pecked some holes in the stucco chimney, so I asked them to patch those and repaint the chimney. They said that the chimney had to be pressure washed before it was painted, which I agreed to. Then it was suggested to pressure wash the entire house while they were here, so we agreed to that, but I did voice my concerns about pressure washing siding, with the possibility of water getting under the siding, etc.

Response from SouthEnd Painting and Roofing Contractors
To whom it may concern, SouthEnd Painting went out pwashed (member name deleted) home. He was not happy with the job after his window fogged up. For all we know this window already had a hole in the glass seal. No other windows or doors fogged up. He did not pay for the pressure washing nor did we do the paint job due to the disagreements we've all had from job start. I explained to (member name deleted) its on our contract for this reason we are not responsible for broken windows/glass(Its right on our signature page). My resolution was get the pressure wash for free and we would half the repair cost. Its only fair because no one knew that this would happen. Please let me know if we can complete the painting and I will discount the $400 for the window off the original job total.

Billy price matched and threw in few extras to contract the bid. Southend was very eager to start the job, but we had to wait several weeks before starting as we were out of town. Once the work began it was good. Gustavo and crew were very attentive, generous. We have a lot of carpentry items on the list and the leaks we have experienced had caused a lot of damage. Gustavo is aware of our problems and is determined to make it right.
Description of Work: Exterior paint, carpentry work (epoxy holes, cracks in stucco, replace fascia boards, sophets and door jam). Replace Window brickmold with composite material and sealed to avoid future leak and rot. Pressured washed home, driveway, walkways, wall with stairs. Pressure washed deck and re-stained.

Overall, it was a good experience. There was a small issue with the bill; the way the contract was written had an error from what the sales person told me but I did work with the VERY responsive sales person, Billy, and he assured me I only owed the agreed amount. I understand the SouthEnd sub-contracted my job and the sub-contractor said that I owed the higher amount so we had to call Billy again and get it all straight; in the end I paid the amount in the estimate but it was a little stressful at the end of the job. Aside from that blip, everything else was great, the team that did the actual painting took about half a day longer than expected but it was a beautiful job and they were about 20% cheaper than another company I asked to bid on the same job, so I would easily recommend them again and use them again, but I would also advise that the contract reads EXACTLY as the sales team describes so that you can avoid the billing stress I did.

Had garage, porch and deck painted and stained. They initiated the transaction by calling me to solicit business. I had Billy come and give me a quote. When we discussed the job, the conversation we had varied from the contract language. The price was the same and overall scope was similar but you need to read the contract carefully.I included things we discussed that where not on the contract and sent via email stating I added some things. The response was it is OK. The day before the Schedule, the Owner called and said they could not accept the contract. I told him I would go bid others and the net is we agreed to add a little money. That is the last I heard from anyone in this company. Their subcontractors did show up and started work. They pressure washed everything. I asked for 1 coat primer and 2 coats porch paint on the porch. I also asked it was not sprayed. I got 2 coats of paint sprayed. It looks good, I hope it lasts. The garage was sprayed as well right over loose chips of peeling paint. The deck was stained and the crew did not follow the manufacturers direction. No one on the crew spoke english except one and he kept going off to do other things. The net is SPC was interested in the contract and money, but not with the job, no oversite or checking. They where also not calling when the committed. The paininting crew did a good job on some things, less then good on others and I will have to restain my deck. I want to be clear, I did not follow up with SPC nor did I ask them to make any of this right. I did not want the hassle. My recomendation is to make sure you have everything in writting and be prepared to manage the job yourself, otherwise you may be less then satisfied.

Billy was the contractor who set up the job and was terrific to work with. I asked for an October date and they came out once the rain had cleared in the first week in October. They first pressure washed the house and then finished the entire exterior of the house by the next week.
Description of Work: SouthEnd did an excellent job painting our house. It had been 16 years since the house was painted and the house badly needed a good paint job. The crew was excellent. When I pointed out small touch-ups that needed to be done, they responded and did them well. The price was excellent, probably one of the best in Charlotte. The house looks brand new after SouthEnd's paint job! I am very happy with the work the SouthEnd paint crew did. I highly recommend SouthEnd to anybody who needs a job done. Excellent, on time, thorough and great price.

They answered phone calls quickly, were fast and efficient in giving quotes, and were able to do my job fast. I was very satisfied with the painting quality of my two rooms. Because of the old wood paneling and the challenge to paint this surface, I was concerned about the finished look but I think it looks GREAT! I appreciate how fast and easy Southend made the whole process go. I am satisfied with the price I paid and the quality of the work. Thank you! - Caroline

SouthEnd Painting came to save the day. I hired a company named Affordable Painting in Dallas, NC which did an absolute horrible paint job on my dental office. Let's just say, that they charged me $2700 and did absolutely nothing and I had to fire them after 2 weeks of not even bothering to show up. I was desperate and located SouthEnd on Angie's List. They called me back immediately and arrived the next morning to complete the estimate. The estimate was more than fair considering they had to sand down several walls to even them out and paint a space that was about 1800 square feet. Even when I ran into issues with the initial painters that SouthEnd sent out, Todd came out and immediately addressed my issues. Todd sent out a new team of painters that completed job flawlessly. The project took a bit longer than I expected but they did a great job. And I had rather it be done right rather than rushed through. I will definitely be hiring them again in the future. Oh, and did I mention that they didn't ask for a dime until I was totally satisfied with the work. I had never heard of such. They didn't even pressure me for the payment. I highly recommend SouthEnd Painting!!!!
