SouthEnd Painting and Roofing Contractors

They showed up to give me the quote when they said they would (very quickly!). I was pleased with the quote so hired them for the job. They returned later that day to do the first part of the job which was roof repair. While lifting the shingles that needed to be repaired, they uncovered a really poor job done by another contractor prior to my ownership of the home. Someone had built a "dog house" by the chimney to help with water flow on the roof, however, they did not properly seal it (no tar/tar paper, etc.). The prior contractor had just covered it with shingles. They showed us the bare wood when they lifted the shingles a bit. We asked them to repair that as well and they stayed until it was getting dark to finish the job. Very professional and nice crew. Sure, it made the quote the go up, but it definitely saved me money in the long run as that area would have become a real problem in the future. Part 2 of the job was repairing and painting my living room ceiling. A team of two came. They also showed up on time and were very professional and nice. They took excellent care in covering up my personal items and tarping off the entries to the other areas of my home. They were also were certain to close doors when they came in and out of my house to make sure my cats didn't get out. Overall, a very positive experience. I would certainly use them again.

The painters were a Mexican man and wife who cared about the work and were expert and thorough. ..But it was difficult to get a response from the company about when they would be here. After that, we heard nothing for about a week about when the wallpaperer would do this work; Finally someone got back to us after several days of calling, and said well that they were doing a big job in Charleston...We had a little deadline that thusly was not met, but all was well done when he did get here, and he also obviously cared about the work. The professionalism lacking was keeping the customer informed.

Very experienced painters, work was completed in a timely manner. I am 100% satisfied with there work, and that is something I have never said about any painting work that I have had done in the past. I had no clean up to do, inside or outside, if not for the fresh clean look, you would have never known that any painting was done that day. No drips, no runs and clean lines, that is all you can ask for. I am happy with the job they did. The 2 painter were skilled hard workers who were also very polite.

Communication problem with the salesman but the workers were fantastic.

The date was set for pre-washing and at that time I was told I would be able to select a stain color. The date arrived, co. did not show or call to reschedule. A few days later one of the painters called saying they were coming out to do the pre-wash and would bring color chart. They did pre-wash and left...no discussion on color occurred. Fast forward to today, painters arrived with new paint color as requested and did a fine job staining the deck. The original agreed price was $350, however, the painters submitted an invoice for $650. I asked to speak to the office and the painter connected me with Todd, one of the company owners. I explained about the price change and that I was not advised of any change. All he could say was to complain about not being able to make money at the $350 level and expressed no concern for my inconvenience from all the lack of communication. I found his response very unprofessional and I would never consider this company for any future projects.

I has some issues with the first crew, but after calling the office. Tom Cahill came out to make sure that the job was done right. The second crew did a great job. They made sure I was happy.

No response after the initial on-site evaluation and quote commitment .

Well, a couple of things that would have swayed me to another contractor... I specifically asked "do you use a brush or spray on the paint" "We use brushes". Guess what. They sprayed the paint on. Specifically asked to take extreme care around the rose garden. Guess what. Pulled in the driveway and witnessed crew member whacking the roses carelessly with the ladder. Several canes broken. The house does look nice though. Trim and gutters are like new again.

On time, high quality, completed all the work in 2 days. Made a couple of mistakes during the paint order but quickly corrected them. Would definitely hire again.

My experience was excellent. They showed up on time and made all of the necessary repairs before they started painting. They were polite and worked very hard. I was happy with their service.

Crew members were extremely polite, arrived and left each day in a timely manner. Crew supervisor spoke excellent English and kept me informed every step of the way. Ground, driveway, plants, and my car was protected and did not find any splattered paint. I asked supervisor to leave our screens out of windows because we wanted to let the paint dry completely. In the spring we tried to put the screens back into the windows, but found that the upper latches were painted over and stuck. These were on the 2nd story and we could not reach them from inside the house. We e-mailed company about the problem and they called that same day to make an appointment. The same crew supervisor came a few days later and freed the screen brackets. He also helped me to put the screens back in the windows. There was no charge for this follow-up visit.

I did not have a good experience with them and I wouldn't ever use them again. They were not communicative and the punctuality was not consistent. They were messy and power washed my windows with the screens on. Now my windows are filthy and I would have to get somebody back out to clean them because they wouldn't do that. They power washed the brick steps and the concrete came out between a lot of the steps and they would not fix that. They did painting as well and it was so so.

Bid was completed shortly after we requested. The job was completed as we described in the bid. The painters were professional and the job was excellent. They completed on time.

Work was done quickly and efficiently. We were pleased with the results.

Chris Kite is super responsive and professional. This is the second time I've used SouthEnd Painting. They make the whole process painless.

They were reasonable, however I would not recommend them. They don't warranty their work. The guy that came out was just fine and I think the best thing was that it was reasonable but then when I called Painting & Moore, they came out with a very competitive estimate as well but they warranty their work for 5 years. When I called SouthEnd to say that I didn't notice in here what the warranty was with the painting for the exterior of the home, they asked, "What kind of discount did we give you?" "I don't know what kind of discount you gave me. I know what the price was." He said the warranty all depends upon the discount. I was a little concerned with that. Painting & Moore did do the job for me. They would match any other quote that we received and they warrantied their work for 5 years no matter what kind of discount you got. Your warranty shouldn't matter with what your discount is. So I did not go with SouthEnd although their quote was competitive and they probably would have done a great job but Painting & Moore gave me a 5-year warranty and for the same price.

Good experience from start to finish. Company was responsive to concerns.
