Description of Work: The need was for evaluation/location of an apparent water leak. Service began with installation of a replacement of our indoor water shutoff, since the existing one was not functioning. A referral for location of the leak led to the discovery that there was no remaining leak, as a toilet leak that had been repaired by us while other issues were being investigated turned out to be the presenting problem. When all apparent water usage was suspended, it still appeared, from the meter, that there was water running. It turned out that the refrigerator ice maker was still running, thus creating the appearance of a leak where none existed. (None of us had considered that possibility, and it took the leak finder some time to discover, only becoming evident when the "leak" he discovered near the refrigerator spontaneously stopped.) Because of the plumber's integrity, we were not charged for the services of the leak finder; the plumber absorbed the cost. The cutoff valve needed replacement, and the work was done well.

[member's name removed] That's right. I actually charge for work that I do. Even work you or others may think is "simple". I can't tell you how many seemingly "simple" things people call me for every day end up being far less simple than they anticipated. My job is not to just address plumbing symptoms, but to find out the actual cause of the issue and then educate my customer as to why that is happening, and how to prevent it from occurring in the future. If you and the person reading this review right now do NOT want their plumber to be that thorough, then I am NOT the plumber for you. There is nothing wrong with a professional charging for his/her services. You are not entitled to my knowledge and skill for free just because you're a member of Angie's List. Your review should not even be posted as all i did was speak to you briefly on the phone. I have never been to your house, nor have I done any plumbing for you. Angie's List, PLEASE stop letting people leave reviews who have not received any service!

He also checked the handle for a separate bath and found it to be in need of replacement, and gave an estimate for doing so on a future service call. Just to make a few things clear. I did come to your home and honor the Big Deal. Before any work started, conversation went like this. Plumber: this is going to need to be replaced, not repaired, Customer: I dont have the money to replace it. just repair it. Plumber: I'll try, but I'm sure it needs to be replaced. Customer: I understand, just try anyway. Replaced part, problem is the same as before. Customer: I cant afford to pay you to replace it, can I make monthly payments? Plumber: no, but I will offer you a 100 dollar discount. Customer: I stlll cant afford that, can I make payments? Plumber: well, Im a plumber not a bank. BUT, because it's a slow week I'll allow you to do that. 2 and a half months go by.... Customer: Can you come by and replace that valve now? I can pay you monthly. Plumber: Uh, No. Its not slow anymore. Im busy, that as a limited time offer and you waited two and a half months. Customer: Can you refer me to someone else who might help me? Plumber: sure can, here's the number. Customer: goes on Angie's List, writes F review, claims plumber didnt honor deal.
