They showed up the day they said they would and finished when they said they would. The workers spent long hours on the job and did a wonderful job. I would definitely use them again. Great job!
Description of Work: They put in a 500 square foot patio and fire pit. It required digging up existing portion of my yard. Also rearranged some lighting and sprinkler heads. They also made sure construction area and driveway were thoroughly clean during and after project was completed.

Both Kevin Harrison and Jason Birch were very efficient and came with a nice proposal a few days after their visit to evaluate our requirements. Their first proposal met our requirement with a couple of exceptions. We ask a couple of plants and busches to be dropped and replaced by some of our own choice. They reviewed their proposal
Description of Work: Tear out and dispose of old trees and bushes that were either dead or in very poor health due to the poor state of the soil. deliver new soil, trees and bushes and remove all debris. All of that in 3 different areas: Around the mail post, all along the front face of the house, and in the back around d a cascade which had been built 10 years ago. Plus there was 2 trees to be heavily pruned, two other outside these area which were dead and tho small ones had to be displaced.

Great, perfect, wonderful.....
Description of Work: We had our front yard re-landscaped and the experience with Jason and Jonathan at Paragon could not have been better. Jason was the main person we worked with and he was great. He worked with us on what to keep and what to replace in regards to new landscape for a home that is 10 years old. He worked with us in meeting our budget but not jeopardizing the design. Jason did everything on time from presenting the estimate to finishing final details. We would highly recommend them and look forward to working with them on the backyard.

John and his team purchased, delivered and spread 20 cubic yards of double-hammered mulch in my yard. I highly recommend Paragon. As a former corporate America employee John understands customer service, punctuality and delivery of service. Although he is not the cheapest he is not the most expensive either. I chose working with him because he instilled a sense of confidence and trust. Even during the day of service, he called to make sure that his team was donig a good job.

Overall, my experience with Paragon went very smoothly and very well. I had bought a $99 Angie's Big Deal for Paragon to come out and survey my yard, give me suggestions and draw up a plan for landscaping. Jason was extremely professional and punctual; he spent time walking my entire front and back yard with me, listening to my concerns and giving me suggestions. He then took measurements of the front of my house and went back to the office to draw up a landscaping plan. I received the plan back in the discussed amount of time and was very pleased with the product. I decided to have Paragon come out and implement the plan drawn. Jason and I emailed several times back and forth over a few weeks (mainly me asking a lot of questions as I thought of additional things to add like the two new planting beds). Jason was always polite and quick to answer my questions and was thorough in making sure that we had covered everything. On the day of planting, Jason showed up at the agreed upon time and told me Jeremy and his team were on the way. Jason walked the property with me one more time making sure that we were both on the same page as to what was to be done. I was present all day at the house (although not required). Jason explained to me that his team would get to work but before they put anything in the ground, they would position the plants in their pots around so that I could come out and let them know if I was satisfied with their arrangement or if I wanted anything changed or moved around. Jeremy and his team (two other men) might have been 30 minutes or so later than I expected, however I thought that was reasonable given traffic and picking up the plants. As soon as they arrived and introductions were finished, they immediately got their directions from Jason and got to work - this was at approximately 9:30am. Jason left to manage his other responsibilities. The team was very polite and hard-working. Jeremy explained to me how to care for the plants and made sure I was happy with the work being performed. Jason came back around 5:30pm to check on the work and make sure I was satisfied. Jason also discussed care of the plants with me. Except for taking a lunch break, Jeremy and his team basically worked continually from 9:30am - 7:45pm (when work was completely finished, watered in and all clean up was done). They cleaned up extremely well as they worked, even raking my yard to clear some smaller mulch debris and they swept up the street and driveway. Once they left, I had beautiful new landscaping, a new drainage pipe laid under my sidewalk, two new planting beds and a clean yard and driveway. I would gladly recommend them.
Description of Work: Re-landscape existing front of house by removing and disposing of all existing shrubbery (approximately 8 or 9 large boxwoods and one well-established crape myrtle including ripping out stump), till up land and amend with 4 yards of organic topsoil. Replace with 1 6-foot Robin Holly tree, 7 Abelia, 6 Azalea, 6 Gardenia, 2 Steeds Holly trees, 4 Nandina, 5 English Laurel and 35 Liriope. Top with 5 yards of mulch. Fix existing drainage issue in same area by digging a trench under existing sidewalk by front steps/porch, connect downspout in front of natural area to 40 feet of solid pipe, pipe it under sidewalk so that it outlets in the side of yard and include a pop-up emitter to allow water to slowly release out. Dig out approximately 4-5 feet in length of ground space around mailbox and amend soil for homeowner to be able to use to plant herself. Dig out approximately 15 feet x 2 feet section of ground on side of house and amend with soil for homeowner to be able to use to plant herself.

Jonathan Reed and Paragon Landscape Management were referred to me by friends who spoke very highly of their services. Unfortunately, I needed to complete the landscape work in the next two weeks and that did not mesh with the immediate availability of the Paragon crew (poor planning on my part). That said, even though Jonathan knew I was going to have to look elsewhere for help, he still took the time to suggest questions I ask when screening other contractors as well as review and provide commentary on estimates. Ultimately, we found another company that I am comfortable with based on his help. It’s not often that you get extraordinary customer service from someone with no financial benefit to them. I can’t say enough about the impression that made on me. With better planning on my next project I will absolutely look to hire Jonathan and Paragon.
Description of Work: Provided estimate, insight and outline of considerations to review. Assisted in the screening of other contractors and provided insight into other proposals on fairness and quality.

In December of 2011, we contacted Paragon to create a landscape design. Jason Birch got in touch with us and set up a time to meet and walk our property. Jason listened to our requests and created a great plan that included all of the items we wanted. During the process, we asked for the plan to also include an extension to our existing patio. Jason suggested Belgard pavers...which we like a lot. He kept in close contact during the plan as well as coordinating the work with the installation of fencing. Work was finished on March 7...after approximately five work days. We cannot say enough good things about Jason and Kevin (one of the owners of the company). We got everything that we wanted in a timely manner and at a fair price. We would highly recommend them to anyone. Their crew was prompt, hard-working, and did a good job cleaning up after the work was performed!
Description of Work: The services performed were...landscape design, coordination of activities, installation of the patio, planting bed soil amendment, installation of plants and trees, installation of drip irrigation, mulching and cleanup. They also installed a large raised bed vegetable garden.

The crew showed up promptly on Monday morning and began excavating the area for the walk. They were methodical and did a beautiful job cutting and fitting the stones. They cleaned up after each work day. They aso kept us informed of their progress every step of the way. We're having them back in the spring to install sod and will call on them again (probably next year) for another landscape project. We wouldn't think of using anyone else now.

They came out when they said they would. They had a coupon for 50% off. They walked through the yard with us and got our ideas on what we wanted for landscaping. They then came back with a drawing. They haven't performed any services yet other than the drawing. The money that we have spent would go towards the work if we want them to do the work, or we can just use the drawing and do the work ourselves. They listened very well to what we wanted and then came back with the drawing that was very much in line with what we walked through and talked about. Each section of the yard has a price with materials and the plants and everything. They were quite professional. They were a little bit slower than we would've wanted, but they told us they had a lot of backlog.
Description of Work: We used Paragon Landscape Management to do a drawing for landscape work and they gave us an estimate.

Excellent finished backyard oasis with beautiful flagstone pavers.
Description of Work: We hired Paragon to develop a landscape design for our townhome backyard. Jonathan did a wonderful job advising us on proper plantings to maintain an aesthetically pleasing flow while taking care to choose dwarf varieties so our space would not become overgrown. Jonathan is extremely easy to work with and is very detail oriented. He was in constant communication with us throughout the process of formulating the design, plant selection, utility markings and getting HOA approval from our community. I can, without reservation, recommend Paragon landscaping for anyone needing assistance with their property.

We found out about Paragon from Angie's List deal. Jonathan was very professional, punctual, and very patient with the many tweaks we had to the original design via email. His crew finished the work in a day and a half-- everything installed very nicely, with amazing clean up. He also gave us very clear instructions on how to take care of our new plants. We're very pleased with the work that was done and will definitely keep them in mind for any other future work.
Description of Work: We had Paragon pull the existing shrubs out by the front foundation, replace them with different plants, and build a stacked stone wall in the entire front of the house. A new bed was installed in the back yard with several large plants planted to serve as a natural screen/fence.

Service started out well, but got progressively worse over time. My service was shifted to Monday, so by the weekend when you realy use your yard, it really needed cutting. PLM also cut my yard several times when it was wet leaving patchy area and deep tire marks in the yard. It was the last straw when PLM wanted to increase the rate on the heels of declining quality service. Should have posted this feedback earlier.

Dear Valued Member – At Paragon we strive to provide the utmost in execution & customer satisfaction, as you can see from our impeccable Angie’s List resume. I was disappointed to receive this feedback today, considering our service contract expired 8 months ago, we have had no contact with you since that time, and we were not even members of this list when you contacted us in 2008 based upon a referral. I wish that you had voiced these concerns directly to us at some point during our over 3 year relationship, rather than choosing to do so in this arena long after our relationship has ended. As I explained to you on several different occasions, our days of service are purely driven by physical location, zip code, and proximity to other clients and not in any way personal. During our 3-year relationship, fuel prices increased 9.5%, fertilizer prices increased 12.5% and seed prices increased 12.5%. Couple that with less access to financing and a higher minimum wage, and we thought that an average annual increase for your account of 4% was more than reasonable, and certainly not rationale for letting your contract expire without renewal. I was disappointed to see our grade of C for price, considering you did not voice any concern regarding the cost of service during any of the 39 consecutive months you promptly paid your invoice, only when we needed to adjust the cost of service based upon the factors above. I agree you should have posted this earlier; I would have welcomed this feedback while we were working together, and done everything possible to make sure you were 100% satisfied; unfortunately this report so many months in arrears did not leave us that opportunity. Thank you very much for your years of business and best of luck in the future.

It was a most satisfying experience all the way around. We have never dealt with a more professional company. The two man crew who did the actual work was absolutely top notch. From the very first call we made to Paragon asking for someone to come out and give us a quote until the day they cleaned up from their work, we had not one moment of trouble. Jonathan was so helpful in scheduling his work around another project which we had going on. He was here at exactly the time he said he would be here each and every time. We have never had a more pleasant experience with anyone doing work for us.
Description of Work: Paragon Landscaping, which is owned by Jonathan Reed, did our landscaping. Their phone number is 704-608-9411. They are located on Rozzells Ferry Road, Charlotte, North Carolina. Jonathan and his excellent crew built a large retaining wall including a walk way with steps leading down from the wall; filled with topsoil; installed a large number of plants, trees, and shrubs'; filled with mulch. Also, installed a new walkway consisting of treated timbers, white pea gravel, and stepping stones. Removed existing plants in one area and replaced with new plants. Also, set out 6 holly plants which we had on hand. Also, replaced an existing walkway leading from the new garden area with stepping stones. It was done as a turnkey job and looks absolutely beautiful. Before leaving, Jonathan gave us detailed instructions about watering, fertilizing and mulching the new area. Also, said we could contact him any time with any questions. My husband and I could not be more pleased. We enjoyed very much having the two man crew at our home. They were so very punctual and reliable. Even working until they were soaked from the rain doing their final cleanup from the work. I cannot express how very highly we recommend this company, their staff and their expertise.

I first found out about Paragon Landscaping from an Angie's List Daily Deal which offered an assessment and design service for $99, normally this would cost $350. I purchased the deal and I contacted Jonathan Reid, one of the owners and contacts, by email and he independently contacted me as well. We set up a date for the assessment. Jonathan came promptly as scheduled. He was very professional and offered great advice. My husband and Iwere extremely pleased with his design suggestions and felt his estimate was fair. We decided to have Paragon do the work as proposed. Jonathan and his crew came during the timeframe as promised and actually finished the job in one day, when we thought it might take a couple of days. I was at work when they did the job, so when I arrived home to see it, I was blown away. They did an awesome job and every time I look at their work, it makes me smile! Jonathan has proposed to do more work for us in the spring and I cannot wait for he and his crew to do more. My experience with Paragon Landscaping has been just that--a paragon experience. I will without reservation refer this company to anyone with landscaping needs.

The work went exactly as planed. Jonathan was on time, came with a large enough crew to finish the work in 1 day This was the second phase of work we have planned for our home. Jonathan earlier in the year built our stone patio in the back yard. His prices are competitive and we are extremely happy with his conceptual ideas and suggestions for what will look best. He and his men are always on time, finish quickly, clean up is great and the final work is great. When we decide to do the final work, which will be a more shrub and a tree removeal, in addition to more stone walkways in the front of the house I will with no hesitation have Paragon do the work.
Description of Work: Paragon removed and disposed of 2 long rows of hedges from both sides of the house. They also removed and disposed of numerous existing bushes from both sides of the house and along the driveway. They planed 2 trees on the property (1 in front yard, 1in backyard). They created new beds with edging in the front of house and both sides of the house planting app. 24 new shrubs. They seeded and extended my lawn over several areas. They trimmed all the remaining bushes.

It was a pleasure working w/Jason & crew leader, Torey (a recent NC State graduate). The installation was flawless. In addition to our agreement Torey & crew moved some of the old pine needles to areas where needed & cleaned up a recent ground up stump.
Description of Work: Jason drew the plan for updating the 2 beds in front of our house & the area around the mailbox & adjacent oak tree. We went w/the plan as drawn. This include removing 23 years of pine needles, amending the soil w/3 yards of top soil. The recommended 20 plants were installed & 3 yards of double hammered hardwood much was added to cover the beds. Once completed the look was exactly what we wanted.

We had several companies come out to discuss potential plans/designs and we chose to go with Paragon for a number of reasons. The primary reason was their rep, Jason Birch. We've done a lot of things inside and outside of our house and working with Jason has been one of the best experiences we've had in any project. He was always responsive, creative and flexible. He had the best plan and listened to what we wanted and was willing to make changes even in mid-project. The wall was a great example where once that started, he realized that the wall wouldn't look good as designed because of the shape and slope of the yard. Jason worked with us to quickly redesign it and it looks even better than the original design. He was very open to change and communicated and collaborated with us very well. Within the year of the installation, we had some plants die for various reasons, including one of our trees. Each time we contacted Jason about the issue, he responded quickly and came out to assess things and within days, the problem was solved. Again, Jason was tremendous and represented Paragon very well. Since the one year warranty, we've had some other plants either die or not do as well, but overall the experience was terrific and our yard not only looks great, but looks unique and distinctly different than the landscaping in other parts of our neighborhood. We told Jason we wanted something that looks like "organized chaos" and he delivered and his company seemed to always allow Jason to provide the best service possible.
Description of Work: We bought a home that needed some updated and new landscaping. We needed updated landscaping (improvement over the existing builder's landscaping) in the front of the house and entirely new installations on side and back of home. We also wanted a number of trees planted, as our backyard was very open. We originally did not plan on any hardscape, but once we saw Jason's plans, we decided that it would provide a lot of character to the landscape design. So, we had a cosmetic stone retaining wall installed in the sloping backyard.

Kevin Harrison managed the project. He is professional and courteous. He was punctual and met his commitments. He and his crew arrived on schedule and completed the job in one day. The "B" for quality referes to a few minor clean up errors the crew overlooked. Also the bobcat caused some minor damage to adjacent lawn which has since healed. Kevin has followed up since the installation was completed and also given good advice on other lawn questions I have asked. I highly recommend Kevin and his crew.

After reaching out to several landscape companies, Paragon was the first to respond with a phone call. From the start our project supervisor, Jason, was very professional and nice. All of his estimates were spot on and were provided along with computer generated diagrams of the planned job. Shockingly, the job commenced exactly when Jason advised it would. All of the crews utilized during the job were incredibly professional and thorough. We look forward to having a few more pennies saved and bringing them back for more work. Thank you Paragon. And, thank you Jason.
Description of Work: We completed 360 degrees of landscape/hardscape work around our house. This included pulling out old shrubs and ground cover, creating a new scape off our back patio (including a new stone walkway, new shrubs, mulch etc...), creating walkway to our backyard playset and leveling ground for the set, creating a cement storage area for our garbage pals, install new decorative lighting, planting at least 50 new shrubs, creating a stone framing wall for some gardens.

Thank you very much for the kind words. It was a pleasure working for you. We are very happy that you are pleased with the hardscape and landscape that we provided. It is a big change from all the overgrown shrubs and debris that once covered the front and back yard. If you ever need us for anything else, please feel free to get in touch.

We contacted Paragon as well as several other companies to install two walkways. Paragon won the business based on price, professionalism, and in the end, a flip of the coin. There were two other companies that had good reputations and nearly identical estimates. We are satisfied with the work and would use Paragon in the future. Oddly enough, it was the way in which Paragon dealt with a small problem that will keep us using them in the future. There was a minor issue with drainage on one of the walkways. I contacted Jason at Paragon. He committed to coming back out and surveying the situation. He returned as he promised, deemed the situation to be "unacceptable," and committed to fixing the problem.Paragon showed up a few days later - as scheduled - and addressed the problem. There was no debate, no arguing, and no additional charge. I will use Paragon in the future because I know they stand behind all of there work with no equivocation.
Description of Work: Add two walkways to the side of the house and the front door. Walkways were done in stone pavers.

From the beginning, the installation did not go well. Several plantings were supposed to screen a 5 foot high retaining wall that Paragon had built on my property. The size of the plantings did not come close to screening the wall. I voiced my displeasure to Jason, and was reprimanded that he didn't appreciate the fact that I called him on a Saturday telling him that the plantings were unacceptable and that I would take immediate action if the plantings were not replaced. I spent more than $30,000 with Paragon on the landscaping project-I expect a level of service that reflects the money I paid. During the job, one of Paragons employees backed into my well, with a bobcat, which caused the main well pipe to break. Within 4 weeks of the installation of the plantings screening my retaining wall, a portion of the plantings died. I immediately called Jason and asked for a solution. Jason said he was leaving to go out of town for a wedding and would get back to me the following week. He did not return the call. As I was having guests the following week, I hired a local nursery to replace all of the dead plants. The representative from the nursery inspected the beds that Paragon had prepared and explained that the beds were not properly prepared and that the plants died due to excessive water. I was told to immediately reduce the amount of water flowing to the beds. Based upon the irrigation installation guide that Jason prepared and presented me with, I reduced the amount of water flowing to the beds. Within 5 weeks, the new plants died. I had the rep from the nursery come out to inspect the dead plants. Again, the bed was filled with water. I went to the irrigation control set up by Jason, and discovered that the irrigation guide completed by Jason was not accurate. The irrigation line that Paragon installed to deliver water to several large trees that Paragon had installed was the same line that filled these beds! On July 18th, I emailed Jason describing what had happened, and asked for a solution. He did not respond. On August 15th I again copied the original email and asked Jason to respond. He responded saying that he did not ever get the original email. I asked him for a solution. He said because I had several non-Paragon contractors working on this situation, he could not help me. I explained in writing that no other contractor had worked on this issue. The nursery simply replaced the dead plants under my supervision. Jason responded that it was the nursery's responsibility to go throught the irrigation system! I paid Paragon top dollar to complete my project. The representation by Jason has been unacceptable.
Description of Work: I hired Jason from Paragon Landscaping to install several trees and plants for my property including expanding my current irrigation system.

This customer wanted a Mediterranean look for his backyard. Throughout the entire design process we stressed to him the difficulty with trying to screen the 5’ wall because of the planting constraints of the bed below the wall at only 2.5’ deep, limiting the size of the root ball we could use. We did show the customer multiple alternatives that would properly screen the wall but those options were declined because they did not correlate with the Mediterranean feel in his opinion. We ultimately agreed on a design and the customer was presented with exact photos from the nursery of the plants that were to be installed. The plant material was agreed upon and the landscape was installed to the exact specifications of the design and proposal. The installation was completed on a Saturday, and the final conversation we had with the customer that morning AFTER ALL OF THE PLANTS WERE IN THE GROUND was him relaying to us “how excellent everything looked.” That evening we returned to the office where we received an email stating that the plant material and landscape installation was now unacceptable. We promptly called him that evening upon receiving the email and told him that we would address any concerns ASAP. We met with the homeowner immediately after the weekend, and again reviewed the design, and again confirmed the installation was done exactly to the specifications of the design and agreement. We did propose to the customer additional plant material to further cover the wall. The additional plants were agreed upon and installed to the customer’s satisfaction. The customer emailed us 2 weeks later with respect to 4 plants in the front yard that were not receiving drip irrigation. We sent a member of our team to the property to extend the drip to the 4 plants that were not receiving irrigation, but found it had already been done by another contractor. We had no further contact with the customer until an email we received on June 15th stating that he had hired another contractor to come to his property and replace various dead plant material in the rear of the property. We were disappointed that we were not contacted first so that we could provide a solution for the customer, and honor our warranty with respect to any plant material lost. The customer voiced his concern regarding the remainder of the plant material moving forward, and we ensured him at that time that any plant material lost moving forward would be replaced under full warranty at no charge to the customer, although we would prefer to wait for ideal fall planting weather rather than undergo an installation the middle of summer. The exact excerpt from the conversation is as follows: “I will be happy to arrange a time for next week to come look at all of the plants in question. If there are some that are definitely dead we can either replace them for you at no cost, or bring the plants to your house for your new landscaper to install them (whichever you prefer). The best day for me to come down there would be next Wednesday between 11am and Noon. Please let me know if that will work and we can take a look at everything together. Thank you.” During the irrigation installation process one of the main lines leading to the well pump was run over by a bobcat. The line was replaced by Paragon and everything was properly hooked up to the pump. There was no charge to the customer and our machine never came in contact with a well. It has always been our intention, and will continue to be our intention to honor any or our irrigation or plant installation work under full warranty. We would welcome the opportunity to review the system with the customer, review any questionable plant material, and work to ensure the customer is fully satisfied. We have asked the customer on numerous occasions what plausible solution he would be comfortable with, and cannot garner an answer. It is not our intention to escalate the situation, rather extinguish it. You can see from our impeccable record on this list that we hold our reputation in the highest regard, and have never experienced this type of confrontation with any customer, nor will we ever. To this day our goal is to resolve the situation for the customer. It has however been made clear we are not permitted on his premises in any fashion, and we will not be given the opportunity to make any necessary corrections. We will continue to welcome the opportunity to do so.

I received several quotes from different landscapers and all were competitively priced. However Jonathan, one of Paragon's owners, had a much better handle on exactly what would look best in my yard. It was his creative ideas and knowledge of the products that convinced me to go with his company. We went to the supplier to look at the cobblestone that he suggested and was happy with the choice. We chose a date that was convenient for both of us. He and his workers showed up on time and finished the job exactly when he said it would be done. He added a step out of my back door at no charge and when I called him the day after the job was complete to ask if he could make the step bigger, he didn"t hesitate and said of course. He sent his man over to complete it. The patio looks great and I couldn't be happier with the quality and design of the work.
Description of Work: They removed an existing 7ft by 7ft concrete patio and installed a cobblestone patio, app 17ft by 30ft with a 21inch sitting wall.
