Owens Chimney Systems

They were very courteous, professional and prompt. After inspecting the chimney, they found that the crown had been cracked - a tree had fallen on the house. Likewise, a recently installed new roof did not have appropriate flashing around the chimney and caused leaks. Owens took before and after pictures to show what work needed to be done as well as the finished product. They gave me options for repairs, pros and cons for each option enabling me to choose what best suited my budget.

I think it worked well. It was good. The guy was very thorough. He cleaned up after himself. He left the fireplace clean. He knew what he was doing. He was pretty knowledgeable. He was very careful about not dirtying the rest f the house. I would give A's on all categories.

It went well. The birds were protected so we had to wait to when they left to put on the cap and sweep.

The provider was on-time, professional, and helpful in his evaluation. We will use them again.

Provider called quickly to schedule, and arrived on time a couple days later. The tech was very careful to keep from making a mess and performed a thorough cleaning of my chimney. The video inspection (only $25 extra) showed what I already knew (the chimney was built in 1978) however the options that he offered me for relining were much more reasonable than what I had seen a few years back (by several thousand dollars). We didn't end up getting the chimney relined, however would use this vendor if we decide to in the future.

Everything was excellent. The service provider showed up on time, explained how everything would go, and immediately got to work. He made sure he had plenty of materials to keep the house clean while he worked and was quick and effective. As he was doing a video inspection, he showed us what our chimney looked like and gave us his recommendations without being pushy or as though he was pitching a sales opportunity. Once he was done, the chimney was in great shape and everything was clean above expectations. Outstanding service.

They were excellent. I went out and did reviews off Angie’s List and I believe they had almost all As. They came and did some work. A snake crawled up a tree, went from the tree over on to our roof, went down our chimney, and came into the house. My wife found it which was not good. They sent me pictures. They did a real thorough job. They did a complete inspection. They cleaned it. The guy was very professional. He told me things that I could do on my own without paying them to do to fix some of the minor things that were a problem instead of paying them. He offered alternative solutions as well as some solutions I could not do. So, I did pay them to do not only the initially contracted work but some additional work that they found. He showed me pictures from a camera that was up in the chimney so I could see exactly where the problems were and what they were going to do to fix it. They did a great job. I got a special chimney cap on there, which made the cost a little bit higher because I wanted just to keep birds out but to keep snakes out too. I would use them again in the future if I need to and I would recommend them to people also.

I would highly recommend Owens Chimney Service. They were prompt, informative, thorough and professional. They answered all my questions about the stove insert even though they did not install it. They inspected the insert and chimney with recommendations of potential areas to watch. I had recently moved and knew little about this fireplace insert and chimney. They checked everything, answered my questions and eased my mind about the use of the fireplace and chimney. Their work produced no mess as they were careful in containing the ash and debris in the process. I highly recommend this company and will use them in the future.

David Hixson, the technician was excellent! He serviced the same items last year and did a wonderful job both times. I have used Owens the last few years and they I installed Heat Shield in the flue and did brick work on the chimney. Their service and work is outstanding! Will continue to use them for many years!

Visit went great. Dave was extremely knowledgeable and explained things so I could understand and more importantly so I could explain to my wife later. lol He was professional and on time. I will definitely have Owens out again to do the recommended work. Pleasant experience!!

They showed up ON TIME! They were PROFESSIONAL! They kept me INFORMED all during the day as they worked. When they were finished, they shared a summary of their work and presented me with a bill that was actually $600.00 UNDER the estimate!!! Then..they followed up with a detailed receipt that included pictures of the new lining and some minor exterior brick repairs they did. VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE!

We recently had the whole house re-sided, and wanted to make sure the chimney was still structurally sound before burning the first fire of the winter. We bought the Big Deal from Owens on 10/26/14, and found out afterward that their backlog was so long they couldn't come until 12/1/14. (tip: merchants should offer a refund if there is such a long wait for service). Nonetheless, we made the appointment and waited. Chris, the technician, arrived promptly, was very professional, and very careful to prevent any soot or dirt from coming into the house. He did a great job on the service, took photos to show us how to understand the inspection notes, and left the fireplace looking almost new. I would definitely use Owens again, and highly recommend them. (if you're in a hurry, call first to make sure they can fit you in before you purchase an online deal).

Never had the service, just interacted with the person who answered the phone. She was very business like but also a little curt, in fact, encouraged me to get a refund since there was no possibility of scheduling before the 30th of December. Did not offer to take my name in case of possible cancellations. Other than that, I would have loved to have been able to work with them.

They were very professional and we were really happy with them. They kept everything clean and worked very efficiently. Others had provided estimates but we went with Owens because they seemed more professional and friendly to work with. We felt confident they would do the work correctly and they showed up on-time and did exactly what they said they were going to do.

Company responded promptly following my purchase on Angie's List. They were unable to perform the service until December 19th, however, and I decided to find a similar service with more immediate availability.

After buying the big deal I called to schedule and the first available date was December 2014. We were having issues with our fireplace and couldn't wait that long. Was disappointed because they came highly recommended and we're very nice and professional but understand that this is their busy time of year.

He was excellent. It made me realize that Angie's List does an excellent job of screening contractors for us. The young man who came was absolutely excellent; I would definitely use him again and tell other people about him!

They are not able to schedule my work until after Christmas which is too late.

I have used Owens before and will continue to use them for all of my chimney and fireplace needs. I thought it was about time I gave them a review. The technician did an excellent job. He was on time, very friendly and professional. Arrived in a very clean van, ensured all furnishings were adequately protected, and got to work inspecting the chimney. He even showed me the images of the flue on his remote camera. After the inspection, he cleaned out the chimney, both from the bottom and the top. Of course, he also inspected the chimney from up on the roof. He gave me suggestions of what to watch out for in the future, what sort of logs were ok to burn (no pine, etc.), and gave me his inspection sheet for my records. The whole thing took less than 30 minutes, but he was thorough and did not leave one speck of dirt or smudge behind. Great people to work with, and an excellent value.

David did a great job start to finish. He was prompt! He walked us through what he would be doing during his visit and gave a detailed report on the results (all was good, yeah). And lastly, there was not a spec of dust to be found once he left. Thanks again David!!!!

He was friendly and professional, and even calmly took care of the wasps that unexpectedly fell out of the chimney! He taped plastic around the fireplace opening so nothing came into our house!

I contacted the company through Angie's List, and they called me promptly to set up an appointment. The technician called the day of the appointment, and said he would be delayed a few minutes. He arrived in a timely fashion and completed the work. He explained in detail his findings, and he made recommendations about corrective actions to be taken. The technician was professional and helpful. I will use this company when I am ready to proceed with the recommended repairs.

Awesome. Scheduler made appointment, called to remind me of the appointment, and the technician showed up ON TIME!!! Job was completed with no mess and I was very happy.
