 + -1 moreNorth and South Carolina Air (NASCAIR) replaced our downstairs system about 4 years ago. We were so pleased that we used them again when we did an addition and major remodel that included replacing the upstairs system. They were very ingenious in coming up with effective ways to solve our heating and air problems. They worked around the limitations of the existing structure and got rid of a badly placed soffit. They were knowledgeable, reliable and courteous.
Description of Work: New system for upstairs. Re-do duct work as part of a major remodel downstairs. Running gas lines for inside cooktop and outside light.

 + -1 moreRepairman arrived on time and was polite and knowlegeable. Due to the relative warmth of the day, I was unable to duplicate the fault. The repairman then inspected the unit and checked various parameters of several components to see if anything was out of spec. He noted that one part was more likely to fail as temperatures get colder, especially on a 20+ year old unit. He offered to tell me the part # so that I could find one myself at lower cost or to have him replace it. I opted to let him replace it as the cost was what I considered reasonable, plus the standard cost of a service call. I liked the prompt and proffessional service and punctuality, even on a sunday. I also liked the fact they did not try to pad the bill by pushing or up-selling. Unit works OK for now but when the furnace needs to be replaced I fully intend to have Nascair perform the work.

 + -1 moreNascair was courteous and professional from start to finish--from the office staff to the coordinator (Mike) to the installers (Danny, Ronald, and Alex) to the owner (Jay), who personally checked up on the repair. They arrived on time, followed up promptly on parts that needed to be ordered, and finished the job in the time frame and price range they had estimated. Their estimate was very reasonable as compared to other local companies and they patiently answered all of my questions. They went above and beyond the call of duty to work with my home warranty company so I could get reimbursed for some of the cost of the new furnace. I appreciate their respect of my house and my time. I highly recommend them and will definitely use them for all of my HVAC needs in the future!

 + -1 moreI purchased a brand new Heat Pack/A/C unit from NASCAIR back in 2008. This past Spring when I turned on my a/c/ I noticed it wasn't cooling my house properly. I called NASCAIR for service and it was noted by the technician that my unit was leaking Freon. NASCAIR was prompt in coming to further investigate the leak and diagnose where the leak was occurring and why. NASCAIR went back to the manufacturer with the problem. THe part that needed to be replaced was uncommon and therefore not in-stock. When the manufacturer told NASCAIR that it would be 30+ days to get the part to me, they pushed the manufacturer to replace my entire unit. Thanks to NASCAIR fighting for their customer's, I have a brand new unit.

 + -1 moreNascair quote was not the best from product quality to price stand point but since this was in my rental property I decided to get something from the middle of the road. If you are willing to spend little more, go with Costco (Lennox) which I had done in my house months a go. I got sold with 10Years parts and Labor warranty which is very helpful for rental property, I have it in quote sheet provided by the sales guy. Installation was done in a day as promised, I paid in full as I had promised. When it came to providing me with the warranty certificate of 10 Years parts and labor they stopped responding, Dorris the office manager would promise the she will get somebody to call back but haven't heard back after several attempts. In past I have worked with Nascair for small repairs costing less than $400, always on time and very professional service. Which made me engage them on a bigger project, mistake on my part, I will go with Costco again who contract it out to Acosta. Update : 12/11/2011 Company did send me the certificate covering Amana heap pump parts and labor for next 10 years.

 + -1 moreWe had a new a/c and heat unit installed in March of this year. The sales person was knowledgeable and friendly and the initial install went very well. We arrived home from a vacation 6 weeks later to find the temperature in our house to be 82. We called and they sent someone immediately, despite the fact that it was Memorial Day. The tech was unable to repair it though, it needed new parts. On Tuesday we were told it would be repaired that afternoon , but then the parts were not available. A temporary a/c unit was put into my kitchen; over the course of the evening the temporary unit poured water all over my floor. A phone call requesting help with the temporary unit went unanswered. Wednesday afternoon a new fan and board were put onto the unit and the a/c was restored. I conveyed my frustration to Doris, the office manager, and told her I needed a call of apology from the owner of the company. I was told that she was the office manager and she was sorry. I was told the Lennox rep would be calling me. He hasn't. For as great a job as this company did with selling me this product and installing it, I could never recommend them because of their lack of customer service. It makes me sad that they treated us with such a lack of regard.
Description of Work: A new Lennox variable speed a/c and heater was installed using the old ductwork. It then broke down, and was repaired.

 + -1 moreOverall their technicians are polite and knowledgeable. During my service time with them I did have several rescheduled appointments because of general emergencies. The company has proven capable of fixing point problems but very difficult to work when you actually needed to solve the source of issues. Their primary concern was not with customer happiness but ensuring that they are not left holding the bag. They did put other companies that worked on my system down, but failed to deliver themselves. In particular I was very disappointed that they did not live up to their agreement with me. I paid them essentially to provide me a written estimate to fix things and it required several weeks of persistent follow up to get it. Then, they did not respond to follow up questions. This was the last straw and I decided to give the work to another company which did it a great job of getting the job completed on time.
Description of Work: I have an HVAC system that has been misbehaving since its initial installation. Multiple companies have worked on it. Though the parts individually seem to be working well, the system overall is not functioning well. I have hired NASCAIR to fix problems with this system. Overall, they have been at my house 9 times to fix point issues, some that they had not completed correctly other times the system parts started failing. Different technicians would come out to diagnose different parts and attempt to fix them, but overall the system was still not working well. I also had technicians out that were not able to deal with the technology used and we had to reschedule to have some other one come out who would understand the pieces. I finally, did ask why they could not look at the system overall to tell me what was and was not working so this eternal back and forth could be shortcut proactively. This prompted one of the owners to come and talk to me, which I appreciated. However, as soon as I stated that I would need to have a sensible approach to this where first we find out what is overall wrong then put a plan together to fix it, he turned off. In the end, I paid for NASCAIR tech Bruce, who seemed very knowledgeable about my system to come in and do a paid review. It then, required me following up 4 weeks repeatedly to get the promised report from David which was delivered in a very non-professional manner. The findings clearly indicated that they did not want to do business with me and they did not respond to follow on questions.

Description of Work: Installed a new residential steam humidifier. Ensured that the device was functioning as intended. Replaced a portion of the flex supply run for the heating & cooling system and installed a new thermo coupling to fire logs for pilot control.

We had an Aqua therm heating/air furnace(using hot water for heating).and obsolete refrigerant It meant having to think about replacing the whole system. Using David's knowledge, experience and wisdom he was able to replace the coil to except a new air/heat pump with the new refrigerant, it saved us thousands. we had never met David or Nascair before and from the first contact with Doris in the Nascair office and the moment they arrived we had total trust that they were looking after us and not here to just take our money. as I said previous David saved us thousands. They were not able to fully test the heating at the time and as promised they returned in October to complete the test, thanks once again to Doris for organizing everything and getting answers to my questions.

 + -1 moreThe reason I like to recommend them is they are very professional and patient to address my concerns. They are not just installed the system and leave. They try explained things to me in a way normal people can understand and try hard to address all my concerns until I completely satisfied, even this is 1 month after installation. Many contractors can install ERV systems, but not everyone can install it correctly, the installation had to be adjusted for different house. So getting a real experienced contractor is very critical. I will certainly use NASCAIR for my HVAC next time.
Description of Work: I contacted NASCAIR for install a system to bring in fresh air for my new house. With the newly built house very energy effective, it is very important fresh air can be brought in otherwise it will result in serious indoor air quality issues. I got their name from Angies list as well as recommended by the local distributer of HVAC systems. Dave, the owner of the NASCAIR spent time going over the options with me and helped me selected one vendor. They came very quickly after they received the parts, and installed two Renewaire ERV systems in my house and Yes, they did a nice job.

 + -1 moreCalled Nascair this morning to hopefully get a technician here soon for my dead air conditioner. Within probably one hour, they had a guy here. The technician, Matt, was a very nice guy and in addition to diagnosing and repairing the problem (capacitator) and testing and filling coolant to the optimal amount, he offered plenty of helpful information to keep my unit running and cooling at an efficient level. I was very pleased with Nascair's service all the way around and would definitely call them again or recommend them in the future. Plus, their vans are painted like race cars, which is cool.
Description of Work: Air conditioning wasn't cooling (unit was not functioning at all outside) and Nascair did a diagnostic, replaced the capacitator and increased coolant level

 + -1 moreYou wanna hear about a great crew of folks then just keep reading! They were quick to get me on the schedule when my AC unit finally failed last week. They are great to deal with. I had originally planned to have the old AC unit replaced as part of house addition project towards the end of the summer but when my AC unit failed recently they were great about getting my unit replaced quickly and then they will come back for the new addition duct work when I am ready. Needless to say they are very accomodating. This crew is professional. From Doris on the phones on down to David and Michael and their crew of Bruce, Alex and one other guy who was under my crawl space so much I never got to meet him. Collectively, they know their stuff. They are courteous, knowledgable, affordable, on time, accomodating and really seem to enjoy what they do. Keep up the good work! I would recommend them to anyone.

When picking new air conditioners its very important to pick the right contractor (this is more important than the actual brand). Jay (one owner) was the only person that really offered solutions that were different than any of the other companies I interviewed. Mike their salesman, knew everything to ask and listened to what I wanted. They were here for three days and completed the project on time. I can't believe how wonderful it is to have air again. I totally recommend them!
Description of Work: Nascair replaced or old furnaces and air conditioners (2 of each) with comfort maker energy efficient ones. They also did duct work and added new vents (which no one else even recommended).

The new hybrid system has reduced both our heating and cooling costs. I have had a few questions about operation since installation and NASCAIR has responded promptly.
Description of Work: Installed a new heating and air conditioning system. We replaced the old system which was located in an unfinished room over the garage with a new system that is suspended from the ceiling inside the garage.

 + -1 moreI chose Nascair based on excellent Angie's List reviews and was not disappointed. I first talked to David about a couple of years ago about replacing old heat pumps in a rental property. We decided at that point to hold off on doing it, as the main problems were with the a/c and we used window units. We called him this fall and he came back out to give us an estimate. He understood our price constraints and found units that were excellent for what we needed. The installation team was extremely professional, considerate, and the work even was able to start earlier than originally planned, which was great. I have dealt with many HVAC companies over the years, and this one is by far the most customer-focused that I have seen.
