Description of Work: I have been a customer of Morris Jenkins sinced I arrived in NC nine years ago. I made the wise decision to be a priority advantage customer. All nine years of servicing my three A/C units and furnace have been equally professional, thorough, responsive and my experience yesterday reminded me I have been remiss in not writing a review of this fine company. One of my A/C units was not functioning and they said they could have someone at my home at my convenienance. 8:00 sharp the next morning (which worked for me) they were there, diagnosed the problem, called it in (replace the coil )...Within the hour they were I also received a call to remind me this was covered by warranty so there would be no charge. They located the right replacement parts and were at my house (again beause it worked for me that same day) to complete the work. Many thanks for nine years of great service.

Description of Work: I called Morris Jenkins along with 2 other contractors because my heat pump had stopped working. It was a Saturday AM so I called 2 contractors in addition to my current heat/ac company. Their advertising claim is "you will have cool air / warm heat in your house tonight" was never an option as my call was never returned. The 2 other companies called and came by to chedk out my unit. The news was bad based on the first call so I paid another company to do provide their opinion. Same news...bad. The negotiated a price and installation for the replacement unit and Morris Jenkins never returned my call. This is the first time I had called but a friend of mine experienced the same issue a few months before. I will not call them again.

The above is the entire story.
Description of Work: My report and result is almost identical to the report below and it occurred on the exact same day. The technician initially came to assess the problem of a non-firing furnace. This was quickly solved by tapping on the negative pressure switch which had become stuck during the off season...not an uncommon problem I later learned. However, he quickly told me that my heat exchanger had 'multiple fractures' and needed to be replaced. He told me the exchanger was made in 2000 when there was a bad shipment of 'weak steel'. He said it was under warranty but the labor to replace it would be $1097. Then he told me the "unit has undersized return air duct" and it needed to be replaced at a cost between $1500-1800 and that I also needed a "media filter". He said the undersized return duct was the reason the heat exchanger cracked so soon.....(and NOT the 'weak steel'??). I had another company provide an inspection of the system. The unit is working fine, there are NO cracks in the heat exchanger, and the return air ducts are precisely what are required for the size HVAC system I have installed. While the heat exhanger IS under warranty, the price quoted by Morris Jenkins technician is the amount ($1097) that would be charged for both labor AND parts. It was noted by the parts supplier that if the manufacturer ultimately determined that the heat exchanger was NOT cracked (the "cracked" unit must be returned to the manufacturer when covered under warranty) then the customer would have to pay approximately $700 for the part. I can only assume the technician's price of $1097 was based on the assumption that the exchanger was indeed NOT bad....or why else would the amount include parts AND labor! This was a most disappointing experience with a company who's advertising is so prominent AND so promising. Hopefully, they can sort out the issues so that all customers can receive the same benefits as most customers seem to receive. Until they do, I would urge caution.

A/C is now working satisfactorily.
Description of Work: A/C went out in a rental home. I called Morris Jenkins and they were able to schedule a time that was convenient for me (when I had other contractors there). They were on time and courteous. The work was completed and at a fair price. My only dissappointment was that the coil was not cleaned because the unit had to cool down according to the technician, even though I had given the okay to perform that work via phone earlier.

THEY WERE A "B" RATED COMPANY, BUT THERE WERE A LOT OF "D" AND "F" REPORTS, SO I FELT THAT IT MIGHT BE A HIT OR MISS EXPERIENCE AND DECIDED NOT TO CHANCE IT. I CALLED BACK AND CANCELLED THE APPOINTMENT AND CALLED AN "A" RATED COMPANY ON ANGIE'S LIST. I ALSO THOUGHT IT WAS INTERESTING THAT THERE WAS NO INQUIRY AS TO WHY I WAS CANCELING MY APPOINTMENT.
