Description of Work: They came to look at my HVAC which had stopped working .. it was an old unit so I held little hope. As predicted, they said they could rebuild it but, they would have to get back to me with cost (which they never did) or reinstall and would send someone out to quote (it would take about 1.5 hrs.) I arrived to the house about 4 minutes after the associate did and he announced he had seen everything he needed to.. the rest of the hour was his marketing time to explain what my options were. He made a lot of notes on a sheet of paper while he talk to me and when I asked if I could keep the paper he said something like "it's 'right restricted' info and he couldn't share it ...??? He then went to the car and came back with a 1 sentence quote basically saying "a home HVAC Unit btw 8500. and 10,200 ! I called my next guy Brad Ayers HVAC and he came out looked around for a bit and wrote me an extensive quote with lot's of detail and charged only 5,750. I understand that Morris Jenkins has to pay a great deal of overhead but I couldn't justify it ..

Description of Work: Replaced old HVAC system with new high efficiency dual fuel system gas/heat pump.

Description of Work: They provided a second opinion after another HVAC provider advised me that my entire HVAC system needed to be replaced because the V-shaped condenser coils had been installed backwards and it had ruined the system. Morris Jenkins inspected the unit and advised me that there was nothing wrong with it. They also sold me some very good HVAC filters at a very reasonable price.

Description of Work: I contacted Morris Jenkins after my air conditioning system stopped working in June 2013. The technician arrived on time and said that there would be a $99 consultation fee for checking my air conditioning system. An hour later the technician informed me that he could not determine the reason why the air was not working. He said that he would need to contact another technician for assistance. The technician called a senior tech and informed me during the conversation that he would need to go into my attic to run an additional test. The technician continued to say that the test would cost $400 and that he may have to replace the entire system if the test was still unable to determine the problem. I asked if the $499 would be would be applied to the cost of repair or replacement but the Technician said only the $99 would be applied. I explained to the technician that I did not feel comfortable with paying almost $500 for an estimate when he originally quoted $99 to check my unit. The technician offered to call his supervisor to see if anything could be done. The supervisor agreed to meet the technician at my home to review the unit. The supervisor arrived an hour later check the air system and said that they would not be able to apply the $400 to the repair but I could use the credit towards a new unit. I paid the $99 to Morris Jenkins and got a second opinion. The new company said the air was not working due to a broken coil. I paid $179 to have it replaced and now my unit is working fine. I definitely recommend getting a second opinion. I feel like this company was really trying to rip me off.

Description of Work: The condensing coil in my heat pump was replaced. I feel that the price was way too high. It was during that really cold period last year, my heat was not working and I was desperate. When another service provider looked at my invoice, he winced. I felt sure I was overcharged when I was quoted $245 to replace 1 Honeywell thermostat (non-programmable). This same thermostat was available on Amazon.com for under $60. To me it follows that an overprice in one area extends to all areas in their pricing. Their commercials which run constantly are no longer cute to me.
