I called 3 contractors on Saturday regarding my problem. Morris Jenkins was the only one to have a live operator to talk to me. One company responded to my voice mail message after an hour or so. One did not called back until Monday. I asked M-J to come out because their diagnostic fee was much lower and they had no surcharge for Saturday service. The technician showed up on time and was professional. He gave me an estimate before starting the work which I accepted because he was ready to fix the problem immediately. In hind sight, I am sure that M-J overcharged me compared to their competitors. Several weeks later I had a similar problem with my upstairs unit and got another company to do the work for $448 ($258 less than M-J). The only difference that I am aware of is that M-J worked on Saturday and the other contractor worked on Wednesday. This was a very high price difference for the convenience - over 50% higher than their competition.
Description of Work: Replaced smart valve in my downstairs gas furnace. Came out on Saturday afternoon, found the problem and did the repair in one trip. Took about 3 1/2 hours.

I thought that this company did a very satisfactory job of installing our new air conditioner and furnace for us. I was pleased with the services that were rendered. I had no complaints or issues with using them. I cannot comment on the price that we paid for this work to be done. My husband handles all of our interactions with home repair companies, so I would not have a clue as to what we paid. I can say that my husband got various estimates, and he thought this company had given us the best all around deal.
Description of Work: We had All Weather Systems put in a new air conditioner and furnace for us, both of which were fairly large in size, I would say. Now in addition to putting in those new units for us, they had to also remove our old unit, which was a bit smaller (and of course, older as well).

I am always pleased with the work that this company does. They have been coming to my home for years and working on odd jobs that need to be done. I have never had any problems and they are friendly and always on time. They make sure to take the time to do a good the job the first time that they come out so a second trip is not necessary. I would recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: There was a new furnace installed. All of the duct work was cleaned at that time as well. The unit that was in place before the new one was installed was in the home for about 10 years. It was removed and discarded. The new furnace is a mid-size furnace.

The technician was very friendly and helpful. At the time of service the technician recommended that we have installed a humidifier on each of the systems, to protect our hardwood floors from the dry air of a gas furnace. He quoted $2,600 to install both those humidifiers. He also mentioned there was a malfunctioning or missing (can't remember which now) cut off switch to one of the furnaces. Our house is two years old. He recommended correcting that for a charge of around $185. Since the estimate was so high for the humidifiers, I searched Angie's List for other heating/air contractors to compare prices. We had the work done by McClintock Heating and Air for half the price.
Description of Work: This company came to perform an annual service check on our two gas furnaces. The technical recommended at the time that we have installed a humidifier on each of the systems, to protect our hardwood floors.

Fairly well considering the scope of the work required. The estimated price was right on, but as the customer, I had to make sure all of the requested work and equipment being installed was actually what we ordered. Might just be me (detail oriented). Had a few hitches here and there, but all requests were handled promptly.

Whoever gave Morris-Jenkins negative reports did NOT have THESE guys. They were superb in every way. Our A/C died on a Friday afternoon and CHUCK the technician came around 6:30 on his way home from work. After discussing, explaining, and several phone calls to other techs and a salesman who had pneumonia, four options were given with no pressure from Chuck. We chose to have the thing completely replaced. The salesman CHUCK SIMPSON gave us a really fair deal over the phone, and Chuck the tech wrote up the contract then and there so they could get everything ordered Saturday and have it installed Monday! (It was an extremely HOT weekend, by the way, up to 85 in the house.) As promised, DUANE and JOSE installed everything Monday, and we had air that night. They did an excellent job. NATHAN came out next morning to check everything out and explain the new thermostat. EVERY LADY we talked to on the phone from the initial panic call Fri. pm, to the finance dept. were great. A+ for all!!!!
Description of Work: Completely replaced A/C. Included all electrical work, new reinforced equipment pad, new vibration isolation pads, new properly sized refrigerant lines(incl down the outside wall in a pre-painted gutter downspout), removed all old stuff, installed heat/cool digital thermostat, made air tight plemum transition, cleaned work area outside and in attic, arranged for electrical and mechanical inspection permits, completed the system start up with full explanation of everything! Our cost also included a 10 year warranty.

Extremely Smooth from beginning to end. Job quoted at 10:00 AM Wednesday and completed at 5:00 PM Thursday. Brian Spitler quoted the job. He was thorough, knowledgeable and patient enough to educate me completely. In less than two hours the Morris-Jenkins office called to let me know the parts were in stock and work would begin immediately. At 1:00 PM two courteous and polite young men arrived and went right to work. They were very helpful in deciding where to locate the additional air return needed. Later that day an equally courteous electrical arrived and completed his work. The next morning work began at 9:00 and was complete by lunch time. Later that afternoon a start up technician arrived and by 5:00 everything was complete. Everyone I spoke to or met at Morris-Jenkins was polite and efficient. They made the whole process as easy as pie. I wish there were more companies like this one.

completed the work within 1 day & according to original scope & price. caused minor sheetrock damage to the ceiling while installed a new air intake duct. They haven't fixed that yet, but we don't expect any issues with that.

Worst rip-off in my entire life. The service man claimed he needed to do $1600 of repairs. I watched him and all he did was change one minor inexpensive part, and recharged the freon. In and out in 45 minutes total. He did NOT do the replacement of copper pipes, etc., which he claimed would cost $900 of the 1600 total. When we complained to the company we met a stone wall of denial and false claims. We clearly stated what work had been bid upon vs. what work was actually done, but they came back with a fairy tale about how long it took and what had been done. I was home, watched the repairman, saw what he did. These folks are blatantly dishonest and don't care a bit about their reputation when confronted. Avoid them at all costs!!!

Called to schedule appointment on a Saturday morning. The technician arrived on schedule and fixed problem promptly. Both technician and appointment staff were very polite and professional at all times. I had absolutely no problem with this company. My house is now comfortable and cool.

I called the main number late on a weekday to set an appt. for replacement AC quote. Received return call that evening from appt. setter. She called me the next day after checking the schedule to confirm appt for 9:15 AM Saturday. I made sure to be home for the appointment time. After half an hour of waiting, called the office to locate my salesperson. I was told that he had to come from Rock Hill & would be delayed due to "race traffic". I was also told that they had attempted to contact me the day before. I had not received calls from them on my home or cell phone (the call logs didn't show missed calls from them either). Two hours later, the salesperson called. He said that he had been overbooked, and that's why he couldn't make the appt. I provided him with info on system size from competitor's quote. He gave me a phone quote that was much higher than quotes from others. He also said uncomplimentary things about the competition. We choose another company.
Description of Work: We wanted a quote for a failed AC system (and possibly replacement furnace since it was old too).

Problem developed on a Sunday. Call returned by dispatch on the same day and technician was on site the next day for diagnosis. He was very professional, explaining the problem and possible solutions that included leak repair or replacement of a major system element. Weather kept technician from performing repair that day, but he returned the next morning to complete the job.
Description of Work: All coolant had leaked from system requiring diagnosis and then several options to solve the problem. Leak was repaired and system recharged with coolant.

Did not use specified tape per amended contract. Vented heated gas out the side of the house- vented gas will condense on soffit creating a mold/moisture problem. They claim never have to seen this problem before. They offered no solution- i.e. building a "doghouse" to extend the exhaust pipe to clear the soffit. I was willing to pay for the additional work.

Employees are usually efficient & professional. They are occasionally late. The price is higher than necessary.

The sales rep came to my house and did inspect what work would likely need to be performed. After inspection he went over the options that were available to me with his company. He opened up his folder and came up with pages that only had a price and manufacturer listed, not the model numbers or what the cost breakdown (labor, duct-work, etc..). I felt like I was dealing with a cross between a used car dealer and a Baptist preacher. I asked him if he could get everything in writing and get a cost breakdown and he said that he would mail it to me. He did write down a price ($7450) and size (3.5 ton 14 seer) on a business card. At this point I mentioned that on a purchase this large I would be getting at least another bid. He used the scare tactic "watch out, there are a lot of scallywags out there". I got the impression the "scallywag" was sitting across from me. I never received his written estimate nor any follow up communication. I will not do business with this company.
Description of Work: Morris Jenkins technician came out to fix our electric furnace and recommended that we have it replaced. I have no issues with the technician as he was able to get me a work-around so we would have heat. My issue is with the follow-up visit I had with one of their sales reps.

SUGGESTED THE INSTALLATION OF TWO OVERFLOW VALVES, WHICH WE AGREED TO HAVE HIM DO. SAID ONE OF OUR VENT PIPES WAS NOT TO CODE AND WAS POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD; REPLACEMENT COST WOULD HAVE BEEN OVER $500. WE OPTED TO WAIT ON THIS AND HAD IT INSPECTED. THE VENT WAS OKAY AND MET CODE REQUIREMENTS. I AM NOW SKEPTICAL ABOUT THE NEED FOR THE TWO OVERFLOW VALVES AND, ONCE OUR CURRENT SERVICE CONTRACT EXPIRES, WILL GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY.

THESE GUYS WERE GREAT! I CAME HOME FROM WORK ON A THURSDAY EVENING AND FOUND THAT THE A/C HAD DIED DURING THE DAY. EVERY PLACE I CALLED THAT CLAIMED TO HAVE 24 HOUR SERVICE DIDN'T OR REFUSED TO COME OUT OR EVEN SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT BECAUSE I WASN'T ONE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS (I HAD JUST MOVED TO THE AREA). MORRIS JENKINS ANSWERED THE PHONE PROMPTLY AND SCHEDULED THE FIRST AVAILABLE TIME THEY HAD FOR SERVICE. THE SERVICER CAME OUT AT THE EXACT TIME HE WAS SUPPOSED TO, FOUND THE ANTS AND CHEWED UP CONTACTS, KILLED THE ANTS AND REPLACED THE CONTACTS. HE ALSO PROVIDED LOTS OF FRIENDLY ADVICE ON HOW TO KEEP THE A/C RUNNING EFFICIENTLY HERE IN NORTH CAROLINA.

OK, BUT HAVE TO PAY CAREFUL ATTENTION.
Description of Work: SIGNED UP FOR YEAR MAINTENANCE SPRING AND FALL. EACH TIME THEY COME OUT AND FIND A LIST OF THINGS THEY SAY NEED REPLACEMENT. THEY ACTUALLY TRIED TO SELL ME A CASE OF FILTERS AND A CO2 DETECTOR ON MY FRONT PORCH BEFORE THEY EVEN CAME IN THE HOUSE TO CHECK UNIT.

WHEN IT CAME TIME FOR THE BOTTOM LINE, THEY QUOTED US OVER $7000 TO REPLACE OUR AIR, MORE THAN TWICE WHAT THEIR COMPETITORS QUOTED. WHEN THEY CAME OUT AND PUT IN A NEW HEAT PUMP, IT WAS A DIFFERENT TYPE THAN I ORDERED. IT WAS NOT A CARRIER. I CALLED IN AND COMPLAINED. I COMPLAINED SEVERAL TIMES, AND, AFTER TELLING ME DIFFERENT STORIES THAT WERE NOT TRUE, IT TOOK ABOUT 2 MONTHS FOR THEM TO COME OUT AND DO WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO. I THINK THE REASON THEY DID IT IS BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME ALL OF THESE STORIES THAT WERE NOT TRUE, AND I FINALLY TOLD THEM THAT I WAS NOT GOING DEAL WITH THEM AND I THOUGHT THEY WERE BAIT AND SWITCHING ME. THEY FINALLY CALLED TO SEE WHAT TIME THEY COULD DELIVER AND SET UP THE CARRIER.
