They have a $89 service call charge and my air conditioner decided to work when he came out. He's very nice, very professional, he stayed for a really long time to wait for the stupid unit to make the noise that I called him for. He said that if it did decide to come back on with the noise that I should call him to come back out and he wouldn't charge me again. So they were really good I would call them again. They were very fast and come within a 2 hour window; same day.

Morris-Jenkins tech said he added 4 pounds of freon and THEN found that the evaporation coil was leaking. The cost of the freon plus service call was $549 and did not fix the problem. We asked that they check on any warranty for the unit. The tech called us the next day and said manufacturer said no warranty. WE called the manufacturer and found that the part was under warranty. Morris-Jenkins quoted $1608 for labor to install the warrantied part. (This was a 1.5 hour job.) We had the job done by a competitor for $500, which included adding 5 pounds of additional freon. Bottom line, we paid Morris-Jenkins more for NOT fixing the problem than we paid the company that did fix the problem. The only positive about them is that they will come quickly, but you will pay dearly.

Morris Jenkins informed us that our AC had a leak in the condenser coil and it was going to cost us around $10k to replace our HVAC system. Our unit was approximately 15 years old so it was near the end of life, however MJ did not attempt to provide us with options nor did they explain what the specific costs were. We called another company who came out and was able to explain our system to us in layman terms and also price replacement of the HVAC system with energy efficient units as well as provide us with rebates with our utilities companies for $4k less than what MJ quoted.

The tech troubleshot the wire and he did what I consider a very good job. He determined that it was low voltage and put a new replacement in so that we get the proper voltage. He tried to put the old one back in, but it wouldn't work properly. He gave me the choices, staying with the old one, or going with the new one and we went with the new one. I have had a very positive experience with them. Every time I needed them, they have been there either that day or the next day.

Murphy's Law went into effect on of course July 4th at 9:30 in the evening! Our A/C stopped working after we noticed it was getting increasingly warm in our townhome, and realized there was no air flow coming from our vents, or outside unit turning on. We contacted Morris-Jenkins after finding the $49.00 A/C Tune-Up coupon on Angie's List. I explained our problem to Jason (a live person on a holiday at 9:30 PM!) and he said their next appointment available was at 8:30 the following morning. Jason placed the service call to have a more experience technician come out and listed the call as an A/C unit service with potential problem. Jason also asked us questions relating to the problems and unit, and advised we check the overflow pan in our attic to ensure there was no major water leaking. As young newlywed first time homeowners we were starting to get a very quick lesson on the perils of home ownership. After a very uncomfortable hot evening, our Morris-Jenkins repair technician Rick came to our rescue at 8:30 on the dot! Rick first checked the thermostat to see if the unit was turning on. After checking the basic system functions, he looked at the units motor in the attic. He tested the capacitor first and noticed it was not responding. Rick replaced the capacitor and shortly after we had ?Cool air in our house that day!? Rick finished by cleaning the outside A/C unit with an aluminum based cleanser and checked all the electrical components. Rick also took the time to show us the damper system on the unit in the attic, as we told him the master bedroom did not feel like it was getting enough airflow. Rick spent sometime trying to adjust the damper so that three upstairs bedrooms would each have adequate airflow. He also noticed that the dryer vent was not properly connected to the roof vent which is a high fire hazard and let us knows we need to have a professional come service it properly. Rick took the time to answer all our questions; he was very thorough in performing his checks on the system. Rick provided some additional repair suggestions, and did not add any pressure to complete the services at that time. The additional services noted were to replace some of the wiring on the outside unit for $350.00 and also clean the coil on the A/C unit in the attic with estimated cost of about $250.00. We will have them clean the attic coil when they return in the fall to service the furnace at the same time. We have a Trane which is original to the home built in 2002; we are the third homeowners of a recently purchased a foreclosure and the original homeowners and second homeowners never had the unit serviced it is 11 year existence. Rick signed us up for the monthly maintenance plan that Morris-Jenkins offers; they will come to our home twice a year to service the A/C unit and Furnace. The monthly cost of this service is $17.89 for 1 unit and $10.00 for any additional unit (Hence it will cost you almost $30 for two A/C units). At the time of purchasing the maintenance plan, we received two months free. Purchasing the ?Priority Advantage? customer service plan waived the $89.00 diagnostic charge we would have had to pay that morning. Since we purchased the $49.00 Angie?s List coupon, Morris-Jenkins adjusted the billing of the capacitor cost of $156.00 to $107.00 to offset the charge. My husband and I look forward to Morris-Jenkins returning to service the furnace in the fall. I feel they are a trustworthy, efficient, and knowledgeable HVAC contractor. I will be recommending their services to my neighbors along with mentioning the Angie?s list coupon.

Happy with Morris-Jenkins. AC failed late on a Saturday afternoon. Called Morris-Jenkins who sent out a technician first appointment Sunday morning. They tried to repair but in weighing our options we ultimately opted to replace the unit. Morris-Jenkins secured a new replacement unit and technicians were back out Monday morning. They completed the installation by early Monday afternoon, as scheduled. Technicians and office staff did an exceptional job in communicating with me at every step along the way, including letting me know when the inspector was on his way. Very professional.

Out of the list of 12 items that included in Check-Up the technician did: 1. Test Start and Run Capacitors 2. Measure Superheat and Subcooling 3. Check Freon leak (indoor coil). This is actually not on the list The moment I said that AC is not very effective and that it is 15 y.o., technician switched into "sales mode". First there was an old capacitor ($15 at parts store), that needs replacing for $500. Once he discovered leak, he estimated Freon charge at about another $500. And in his opinion it just doesn't worth it an it is time to replace AC. Ok, I scheduled an appointment with their sales rep. Some background: I used to have two identical systems in my house. One for the first floor, another for the second. Upstairs system was replaced last year, so I had some ideas about how much it is going to cost me. The lady from their sales team was on time. That was the only positive thing I can say about this company. She took one look at the old AC, immediately gave me a quote for their "standard" option (i.e. cheapest) at $8000. Right away offered me a good "discount" of a $1000. When I've mentioned that I had whole system (AC and heater) replaced a year ago for much less, she started some nonsense about other brands (particularly Lennox and Trane) not knowing how to make an AC for North Carolina climate. Only the brand they are currently pushing has this "know how". I guess she realized that I am not their customer, since I never got a quote from them. Overall, I can say that Morris-Jenkins representatives are very polite and punctual. Otherwise they are useless. Unless you are willing to overpay for their services.

In December 2012, we had an issue with pilot light going out on our water heater. Technician found flame sensor to be dirty along with filter. The technician cleaned sensor and vaccumed the filter at a cost of $110. In March 2013, we had issues with our pilot light going out and this time we were unable to get the pilot light relit. Technician came out again. He found nothing wrong but he told us we needed to hold pilot starter for a longer period a time and were charged $90 - $100. Within a week, pilot light was going out again and would not stay lit even after holding starter down for 5 plus minutes. This time the technician indicated they could replace a part for $300+ but there was no guarantee this would correct the issue. The other option was a new water heater. We chose a new water heater which ended up costing $1,800. As other reviews have indicated, the invoice simply listed the total cost of $1,800 so we were not sure how much the water heater cost, how much the labor cost, etc.

As always, the technician arrived on time, was friendly and professional. He unfortunately found that two mice had crawled into and shorted out a part of one of the compressor units. Instead of waiting till the end of the visit, he kindly told me mid way so I could make a decision on whether to repair it now or later. I called to schedule a routine cleaning and service but when I mentioned that my inside unit didn't seem to be draining like it should they scheduled me for service the next morning. The scheduler was friendly and very helpful as was the Serviceman who arrived at my house the next day. Called them out in early November because the A/c wasn't working on one of our last hot days. Appointment was easy and they came out very next day. After about an hour we were told the unit had a leak at the fill port which was an easy fix but we were almost complete out of coolant (R22). The $89 service fee could be applied to the cost of the repair and coolant replacement. I was not sure it was a good idea because of the lateness in the year but decided to go ahead because their representative indicated the price was going to continue to go up (which it has). $500 dollars later, we used the unit that day and nothing more until early April. Early April, try to start the unit and nothing is cooling. Call them out and its another service call ($89) but this time it takes several days to come out because they are busy which I completely understand. After two hours the representative indicates we have a TXV valve stuck closed and the repair will cost us between $2700 and $3000 dollars. I paid him for the service call and had several people come out for second opinions. TXV valves hard hard to trouble shoot without a lot of up front preparation which was not done. The fins on the unit were completely packed which means the unit was not cleaned by either of the servicemen. The unit was still leaking R22. This could be a new leak so lets say that it was not existing when the first person came out but the second person never mentioned it. It is my understand that the people they send out make between 15 and 20% commission on any repair they complete. All in all just a horrible experience with no satisfactory results. I have someone coming out to replace the unit because at this point trouble shooting it correctly with R22 will cost almost as much as the repair they quoted.
Description of Work: Early November topped off my unit with R22 after diagnoses call. Early April tried my upstairs A/C first time since top off, not working, new service call, $2700-$3000 dollar repair.

We saw the M&J booth at the home show in Charlotte and submitted our name for a free evaluation. A sales associate came to our home and evaluated our system. By adding modifications (larger return in the living room) and installing new equipment we would increase our seer (seasonal energy efficiency rating) and save on electrical costs. We selected the system that would fit our budget. The installers arrived 2 days later on time and finished the project in 1 day. They removed the debris and left us with a quiet efficient system.
