Service 7 days a week with no extra charge for evenings or weekends. Our office is open and fully staffed 6 a.m. to midnight every day of the week. Seriously - call in on a Friday night, say at 11 p.m. and you will talk to a real Morris-Jenkins employee, not a call center who doesn't really know our company, our employees or how everything works! We also provide 24 hour emergency service if you have a problem in the middle of the night. 704-424-9959 We stand behind our work and all repairs are guaranteed for a full 2 years (refrigerant and condensate leaks not included). We tell you the price up front, before we begin the work, and we stick to it. We charge by the job, not the hour, so you pay the same no matter how long it takes us to do the work.

I had a maintenance agreement with them. They came out to do my fall maintenance on my furnace. They called me up in the attic and said it was very rusty. They have been maintaining it for a long time and never told me this before. They also said that is was dangerous, it was leaking freon, there was a health hazard and it needed to be replaced immediately stating if I did not get it replaced now the unit could fall through the ceiling any day and in the following January it would be 30% more. They told me they would have to get the engineer out to give me an estimate on getting it replaced. The engineer came out that afternoon telling me the same thing quoting $15,450 to replace both my furnace and a/c unit. I told them I needed to speak with my son since I had only lived in the home for five years. My son had another person come out the next Monday telling me the part that was leaking and dangerous was under warranty. It only cost me $500 to have that part replaced under the warranty. They also told me the entire unit could be replaced for between $5k and $6k. Morris-Jenkins never checked to see if any parts were under warranty and were going to charge me $15,450. Since this has happened I have found out that two other people have been done this way by this company. I have called them back and they refunded the $250, but I have not cashed the check because I feel they may owe me more. I think they are a rip off and I feel they use scare tactics to take advantage of people who don't have someone else to help them.

Every time they came out, they found something else that needed attention so it would cost more money. Got tired of paying for the promise of priority attention when we would have to call and then wait a week or more to get someone out to do our bi-annual maintenance check. Not happy with the value of their services. When I called to cancel the Priority Advantage Plan, I was told that someone would call back within 48 hours (had to wait once again!). I sent them a letter immediately to cancel the plan. When I finally got a call back, I was told I had to pay an additional month before our maintenance plan would be cancelled. They'll squeeze every penny out of you they can.
Description of Work: We had our regular bi-annual maintenance call. We've been a Priority Advantage Customer and subscribed to their monthly maintenance plan for about 2-1/2 years. We've always had to call them to arrange our routine maintenance service call, even though the plan says they would notify us. I had requested a change in our schedule, but apparently it was never made on their end.

They were really really reasonable and really fast. They were great they were out quickly. They came out and found the problem quickly and because of that, it was quick and easy, they didn't have to charge me as much so I appreciated that.

Called Morris-Jenkins to look AC was not working. Their technician stopped by and found refrigerant were low, refilled and charged $328 for 3 lb (seems higher end of market price). I paid it but AC shutdown again after day, called again and they stopped by and replaced condenser with no cost. AC stopped working on another morning, called them again (3rd time) and technician stopped by and told Thermal Expansion valve need to be replaced at cost of $1100+ (only labor cost) which seems pretty higher while checking with another servicer in area. I checked with other service companies and they replacing thermal expansion valve including refilling refrigerant a lot lower than what they were asking. I wasted $400 on refilled refrigerant at first place which seems to be a part of expansion valve replacement. NOT HIRE OR RECOMMENDED AGAIN.

09/27/2016 David Dupuy came out to perform the heat service for our new system and a water heater safety check. During the water heater check he noticed that the bottom of the tank was damp due to a leak. We could see the evidence. He advised the only option was to replace the tank. He arranged for one of Morris Jenkins plumbers to come out and give us some options for a new one. As always David is very thorough in his work and most courteous. That's why we ask for him in each 6 month checkup of the A/C and Furnace. The same day Chris Faw came out and advised us of the type of tank we needed with the Guarantees and Warranties. He scheduled to have it installed the next day. Chris was helpful and prompt. 09/28/2016 Tony Styers and Adrian Fernandez came to remove the old hot water heater and install our new one. They we very prompt and courteous as well. They took care to clean up any and all debris. The final placement was just right! We are very pleased with the new hot water heater. Thanks to all four guys! Rita & Bill Isaacson

Wow! There is no way to describe the Morris Jenkins team, especially our service technician (expert!) Michael B. This morning I woke up to a hot home, with no air flowing out of the vents. I thought perhaps it was just a worn out sump pump, so I dove into the crawlspace when I got home from work in the late afternoon only to discover that it was more than a sump pump problem. The fan was not working, although the thermostat and the outdoor condenser seemed to be operating fine. It was 5pm. What do you do? I remembered the Morris Jenkins TV ad, where they were available until midnight for service calls. I called their number, the dispatcher took my info, and within 45 minutes, Michael B was on my doorstep, ready to go to work. He quickly diagnosed my main problem, a failed circuit board, but also determined that the fan capacitor was weak and the sump pump was not wired up properly. Michael B had all the parts in his truck (yes, even for my 23 year old unit!), and within 20 minutes, we had 59 degree conditioned air coming out of our vents! The costs were very reasonable, well within my expectations, with no "after-hours" surcharges. I read some of the negative reviews on here from members complaining of prices. Yes, if you yourself could diagnose the problem, and yes if you could wait 5 days for your eBay or Amazon part to arrive, and yes, if you could do the repair yourself, the costs would have been less. But, then you would be sitting in your hot home for a week, with no one-year warranty on your own work. I am switching all of my work to Morris and Jenkins (we have 7 HVAC units on our farm.) Thanks Michael B!

See above. All is well - great service.....Thank you so much!
Description of Work: I called Morris-Jenkins after awaking on Monday morning to find our air conditioner off. We were given the first available appointment - 9:00 a.m. - noon. Ethan arrived as promised at 9:30 and set-off to determine the problem. He found that the unit in the attic was leaking and if not for a switch that automatically shut off the unit when the catch pan was full, we'd had a real mess! Ethan replaced a pipe in that unit and inspected it for other problems. Finding none, he found the outside unit had a drain pipe that had become buried in dirt and was clogged. Ethan was at our home for almost five hours - inside / outside / up and down the attic stairs all in 95+ degree weather. He is amazing!

Well, I was hoping to get away without ever having to write a less-than-stellar review on Angie's List. Alas, that won't be the case. Over the past eight years, as a loyal Angie's List member, I have written almost a dozen reviews, and each has resulted in an enthusiastic A rating of the provider. The experiences have all been great, confirming my faith in Angie's List as well as resulting in the peace of mind that comes from believing you have been charged a fair price. Which is why it's quite sad indeed that I have no choice but to rate my experience with Morris-Jenkins a "C" at best. On Saturday, July 23, 2016, in the middle of a sweltering North Carolina afternoon, our less-than-3-year-old Carrier HVAC decided to stop working. Immediately turning to Angie's List, we soon discovered that Morris-Jenkins was available during that time and, according to their AL description, there was "no extra charge for evenings and weekends." We gave them a call, and within a couple of hours a technician was at our home. Within the hour, he had diagnosed the issue and fixed it. Turned out to be a bad motor start cap, so he replaced the old capacitor with a new one and promptly charged us $442. That, of course, didn't include the "System Diagnostic," which was an additional $89.00. At this point I was thinking, "Hmm, perhaps I should have asked for an estimate prior to approving the work," however when your wife, your pets, and your 76-year-old mother are all beginning to feel the effects of no A/C, well... let's just say I was focused only on fixing the issue. And thankfully, the Morris-Jenkins rep did just that. He was pleasant, knowledgeable, and prompt, however it would have been nice had he mentioned the price prior to doing the work. But as we all know, businesses are not in business to be nice, so I'm learning to live with the fact that I paid $471 for a job that, after checking around, should have been closer to a $125 service call and maybe $75 or so for the part (if American-made). Fortunately, the friendly MJ technician talked me into a "Priority Advantage Membership," which instantly deducted a $40 "PA Diagnostic Discount," and with the $20 coupon he threw in, the price dropped from what would have been $531 to $471. Quite the deal, given the fact that he came out at a moment's notice on a weekend. Given the fact that, as their Angie's List description stated, there was "no extra charge for evening or weekends," I could just imagine what the OTHER guys would have charged us for the job! After calling the manufacturer the following Monday, along with the company that originally installed the unit, I quickly determined that the cost could have been much less. Installed by our home builder, the Carrier HVAC had a 5-year extended parts warranty from the date of shipment, which in our case was October, 2013. When I mentioned this to the MJ technician, his response was that the capacitor is a "wearable" part and thus not covered under warranty. He explained that there are the major components of an HVAC (i.e. coils, compressor, heat exchanger), and then there are the smaller, more mundane parts. These are the "wearable" parts, and unfortunately, our warranty wouldn't cover them. Not having educated myself ahead of time, I really had no choice to but to accept this and pay full price for the part. I couldn't help but chuckle, though, when on the following Monday the Carrier rep whom I spoke with stated that she was not familiar with the term "wearable" parts. She went on to state that the manufacturer warranty covers all parts of the unit, period. And then, she said something that instantly enlightened me and added to the frustration I was already feeling for not asking the right questions at the right time. She said, "Was the dealer who did the work an authorized Carrier dealer?" She quickly checked on her end, and it was revealed that Morris-Jenkins is not an authorized Carrier dealer, which - and I'm guessing most of you reading this know - renders the manufacturer's extended warranty essentially useless. Wearable parts or not wearable parts, the real issue was that I didn't think ahead of time to contact an authorized Carrier dealer. I didn't even know to ask Morris-Jenkins if they're an authorized dealer. But there's more to the story. Curious as to why a capacitor on a relatively new HVAC would go bad in less than 3 years, I contacted the company that performed the original installation for the builder. They informed me that capacitors "go bad all the time" for a variety of reasons, all the more likely if the part is made outside of the U.S. Although it was not my intent during the conversation to discuss the price I had paid Morris-Jenkins, I detected an audible gasp from the individual when I stated that I had paid $471 to replace the capacitor. She went on to say that the company she works for, which IS an authorized Carrier dealer, would have charged us $125 for the service call and $76 for the part. That's it. While our manufacturer's warranty only covers parts, the bottom line is I quickly realized that by shopping around a bit more, I could have saved over half of what I paid to MJ. I've read Morris-Jenkins's responses to others who have taken issue with the prices they charge, and if they choose to respond to this review, I'm guessing it will be supported by a similar rationale. I'm aware that there are substantial costs in maintaining a reliable and professional fleet of technicians and trucks. And I am aware of the fact that there are countless unseen costs that go into running a business. But I am also aware of the fact that, thankfully, in the United States there is a competitive market system, and my advice to anyone reading this is to learn from my mistake. If your A/C or heat goes out at the least convenient time of day or week, don't panic. Know whether or not you have a warranty, and if you do, know who your local authorized dealers are. And don't be lured by the claim of "no extra charge for evenings or weekends," because although the charge isn't specifically listed in the invoice, it's most likely absorbed in the ridiculous price you're charged for everything else. Or better yet, trust in your own ability to fix the issue yourself. One final note - as soon as I discovered that Morris-Jenkins is not an authorized Carrier dealer, I attempted to cancel my Priority Advantage Membership over the phone. The written contract very clearly states that cancellation must be done in writing, but when I spoke with MJ on the phone they suggested that I would just need to talk to their Priority Advantage department. Transferring me resulted in my getting a voice message instructing me to leave a message along with the reason for cancellation, and that someone will "return [my] call by the end of the next business day." These words are stated loud and clear. I left a detailed message, with the reason for cancelling, and gave it a week. No call back. I tried a second time, at which point I was told the Priority Advantage team was "in a meeting." I left another message, pretty much the same as the first, this time not expecting a call back. That was 3 days ago, and I have yet to hear from the Priority Advantage gang. Stunned by the writing on the wall, I yesterday dropped a written letter of cancellation in the mail, certified with a return signature request. Fingers crossed.

Morris-Jenkins corrected an inadequate repair made by another company. Our condensate line had been only partly cleared of a major clog, leading to three separate shut-offs. Their tech was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable and invested the necessary 3+ hours to remedy the problem - the prior firm spent less than half that time in total on two separate visits. He also saved us from making an unnecessary additional "repair" recommended by the first firm. We were so impressed, we contracted with them for our annual maintenance.
