Their work was excellent, but I have never had a harder time getting someone to do a job. At each step of the process I had to make numerous calls or attempts to contact them. It seems like I fell through the cracks twice, and despite my experience, this doesn't seem to be normal operating procedure for them. They removed a dead tree and told me they would contact me about planting a replacement. A month passed and I contacted them to see what the timeframe would be, but never heard back. I tried again a month after that but had to try a third time a couple months later. At that point they were very responsive, but then came out to look at the placement of the tree and failed to tell me that they removal would require additional grinding. I would have been glad to pay if that was the case, but I couldn't quite understand why they wouldn't have told me that from the get go since I originally contacted them for removal and replacement. Ultimately, they didn't tell me at the time of removal nor at the time of selecting the new tree. When they sent the team out to plant it they were unable to do so because the removal was insufficient, they needed to do additional grinding. That meant that we had to schedule another planting appointment. All in all I'm happy with the work they did, but had a bear of a time getting them to do the work in a timely and efficient manner. It seems like my experience was unusual, and their work is really quite good so I'll definitely try them one more time.

After assessing the job, I approved the estimate and we set a date. They arrived a little early which was nice. They removed all 3 trees and did a great job of cleaning up. They even blew the leaves out of my yard while they were cleaning up!! This is the second time I've used them and will again. They know what they're doing and are very professional.

The arborist was helpful and reassuring with some trees we though may become issues. We scheduled for one tree to be removed, and they were back out within days to do the work. They performed the work quickly and cleaned up after themselves. Everything to that point went well without issue. We have now been waiting for about a month for them to come back and grind the stump, but we have not paid for the services so I'm sure we won't be forgotten.

Heartwood was great - they had to cancel their original appointment and promptly rescheduled at a time very convenient for me. That was a huge help given my schedule. Patrick was very helpful and gave us a lot of information about our trees.

Crew arrived two hours after call for help in removing a tree that had fell during a storm the night before.. they were very efficient, professional and did a great job cleaning up. They were somewhat pricey but I assume it was related to the request to accomplish job ASAP. Had a sprinkler head break off when part of tree was winched into shredder. Heartwood had a crew over ASAP to fix at no charge.

Called the provider. They do not provide free estimates. They charge a 30 dollar fee to give an estimate. They only give free estimates for repeat customers. The information field for free estimates should say NO.

I found this company on Angie?s List. They lived up to their already high ranking in every respect. The owner himself (Patrick) responded to my request for an estimate (I intended to get more estimates but after his visit decided to accept his on the spot.) An arborist himself, Patrick identified and referred to our trees and bushes by name, making several useful suggestions as to where and how cut or prune half a dozen trees for added protection of our roof, to provide additional light to overly shaded younger trees, and to improve the view from our home. He even offered to take some samples of apparently diseased trees back with him for analysis and diagnosis. A few days later?in fact a day earlier than tentatively agreed--a smartly uniformed and helmeted crew of three tackled our fairly extensive scope of work. They completed in about 2 ½ hours at the agreed upon reasonable cost. All in all, we were impressed and would recommend this company without hesitation. Michelle V, Asheville, NC

The service was good, but it was just way costly after doing some research. They came in, did what they were supposed to do and did a great job cleaning up but they were way overpriced. Their punctuality was good. I had another tree fall and I made more calls. For what they were charging me I was able to get a lot more done. I would not use them again in the future because of the price.

All went well. Worker severe on time, and cleaned up afterwards. Tree looks good and now I can walk under it.

I can't say enough positive things about this company and their employees. Prompt, courteous and they know what they are doing. Hands down, best experience i've had with a service company that i found on Angie's List.

We needed trees removed at the back of our property to accommodate a pool we are putting in. I called 4 companies to get quotes. Even though I had used Heartwood twice in the past, and been VERY happy with them, I wanted to make sure I was getting a good price. Well, once again Heartwood blew away the competition. Not only were they the lowest price by a significant amount, they understood I was under a bit of a time crunch to get it done. Within a week my trees were down and ground. Most of the other companies had a longer wait. I will continue to recommend Heartwood to anyone who needs tree work done, and I will continue to use them if I ever do again.

I contacted Heartwood to have an estimate for removal of 3 medium sized crape myrtles w/ stump grinding, and cutting 3 large shrubs to a landscape manageable 6 feet. John Maurice was easy to work with and overall the company had quick responses. I had to take a break from work to meet with John and he was professional and promptly e-mailed me an estimate. Unfortunately the price was a little more than I was accustom to paying for similar type of service, but in fairness this company seems more professional and experienced than the past license and bonded service providers I have used.

We chose specific trees and services per the various quotes given. The staff were polite, on time, and knew exactly what to do when trimming our trees. They used safety measures for themselves and our property so we had no issues. We appreciated their dedication and will be keeping Heartwood Tree Services as our one choice for preserving our trees in great condition. Thanks again.

Simply Outstanding! This is a company that truly "gets it". I cannot recommend Heartwood Tree Service enough. Due to a severe thunderstorm late on Friday evening, I had a large Bradford Pear tree in my front yard split in half and fall into neighbors front driveway. Later that same evening, the tree split yet again and fell into the street. I was concerned that the remainder of the tree that was still standing, would then fall back into my home, where my family was sleeping. I called Heartwood Tree Service first thing on Saturday morning and left an urgent VM. Todd immediately called me back and said that he could have a crew out to my house within an hour. Sure enough, the "FSU Crew" showed up and immediately got to work. Within 3 hours of arriving, a very large and mature Bradford Pear was removed and everything loaded up and hauled away. The crew was outstanding and did not stop until the work was completed. I will tell everyone on my street and in my neighborhood that Heartwood is the "go to" Tree Service provider in Charlotte! Kudos to George (the owner) and his entire team at Heartwood. I have used Heartwood in the past and they now have a customer for life!

Todd Higgenbottom came out promptly and on time and inspected the tree thoroughly. We were afraid that it had a serious disease and may even need to be cut down. After Todd inspected it, he assured us that it had no disease, and all it needed was a good soaking and some fertilizer that he recommended we buy and place around the trunk and how far out from the trunk. That certainly was good to hear. We live a distance away in South Carolina, so we asked how much was it for him to come out, inspect and advise. He said that there was no charge involved whatsoever. You could have blown us over with a fan. We know almost nothing about tree care, and an unscrupulous company could have really taken us for an expensive ride, telling us it was a bad disease, needed trimming, chemicals, return trips and on and on. It's really refreshing to find a reputable, honest company that cares about it's potential customers and is not out there just chasing the bucks. I will certainly strongly recommend them to anyone and will call them in the future for any other tree matters that may pop up. Heartwood is a superb company in our opinion.

The office staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. They were able to quickly schedule a time to have the tree and roots evaluated. Craig came to the property and met with myself, my neighbor and the brick mason. We discussed several options and Craig had several suggestions of ways to preserve the tree while still replacing the fence. He also gave us an honest opinion regarding the harm in removing the roots. I appreciated that another arborist from another company just recommended removing the tree without considering other options. It was very clear that Craig was extremely knowledgeable and interested in determining the best solution. It was particularly impressive that some of the options we discussed would have provided less financial benefit to his company since removing the tree would have been clearly the most financially profitable.

Heartwood did a fantastic job of coming out to our rental property in a very timely manner and right as the leaves were finally coming off the trees. We were a little concerned but after talking to their staff we realized that they had a great approach. We were promised that if they missed something since the trees were losing leaves, they would come back out in the Spring. There was no need because it was fantastic. It is now Spring and we are not seeing anything but a very healthy set of trees! We were very happy with their service and their price. We would definitely use them again!!

We use Heartwood Tree Service a lot, by a lot I mean every couple of years or so like that just to clear off the limbs in my trees or to deal with any kind of large tree problems generally. They had to come out one time just to evaluate some trees that were on my neighbor’s yard but the retaining wall in his yard is about to collapse and I wanted to know if those trees threatened my house with that tending to lapse whenever it does occur, it actually has occurred, partial wall. So, anyway, Heartwood, we used them for that and they were very helpful and they really didn't charge me anything for that visit because it was just asking about that. We did use them for some other work and they always are great. It is not cheap but it is really good quality. They probably are just comparable to others but they are the only tree service that I have ever used. I clear the limbs for safety purposes because I have grand children that come and play in my yard and occasionally limbs have fallen, like large limbs but normally in bad weather like ice storm or something like that and I just wanted to make sure that I am kind of ahead of that. I love to swing by the sea. The cost for everything that they did was probably like maybe around 2000 dollars. They take their time. They do the job right. They are totally willing to explain they are doing to me and answer any questions that I have. I never feel rushed and they are always just very, very helpful, very polite and very respectful. They clean up their jobs the way you can never tell that they were even there. I just like them looking out for my safety so I can just kind of relax and turn over the decisions, of course they always consult with me and give me an estimate ahead of time and let me make the decision about what I want to do. It is all good. The only issue that I have with them is that it is a little bit pricy but I think it is probably worth the quality.

The guy who came was great. He knew what he was talking about. They were friendly and easy to get a hold of. Their communication is good.

They did everything I had asked for and removed all the clippings. They cleaned up completely. They're pleasant and polite, and everything looks so much better and nearer now.

The crew showed up on time and were efficient in completing the work. They were good about explaining the consequences of different methods before cutting down the dead pines. There was one dead pine that was leaning over our neighbor's shed and they were able to remove it without causing any damage. I am really happy with their work and would consider them for future work.

Everything went very well. I was very impressed with the service. I would use them again in the future.

They were so much more expensive than a previous estimate because of an additional dead tree. We went and got a third estimate because there was such a big discrepancy between the two estimates. Their estimate was more thorough than the first one we got, but not as thorough as the last one. They missed a dead tree on our property. There is nothing that this company can do to remedy the situation or change my opinion on the matter.
