We had a dead tree fall during a nasty wind storm. Unfortunately, only half fell-- the other half was held up by leaning against our neighbor's tree. Stephan showed up at the agreed upon time (I initially called at 5:45 PM Monday and was surprised to find staff answering phones) at 7:30 am the following day. He was very professional and had a crew of three certified arborists out that afternoon to swiftly and carefully remove both the fallen tree and section threatening my neighbor's property. The crew was pleasant, worked quickly and effectively, and cleaned up all chips, etc. They were just fantastic!

I picked Heartwood based on their good standing in Angie's list. My call was answered live, and I described the problem. Heartwood said the tree was probably OK, but that they could come out and look at it anyway. We made an appointment for a few days later. Stephan Zimmerman showed up a few minutes early, calling ahead to see if I was available. He looked at the tree and showed a genuine interest in educating me on my concerns. Stephan said the tree was healthy and structurally sound. He recommended not taking any action for the dead spot and gave watering recommendations for the tree. He also answered other questions I had: hanging a bench swing, budgeting for future maintenance, estimating for trimming (should that be needed in the future). Finally, he gave a rough estimate for removing a dead birch tree, though he recommended that another service would be more cost-efficient as that's not their core business. Stephan was very friendly, professional, and informative.

The owner was one of the most knowledgeable tree people I have ever talked to. He saved me hundreds of dollars. He took extra time to explain various issues with several different trees i had, he is a great educator.

Stephan arrived promptly at the scheduled time, even a few minutes early. He was pleasant and knowledgeable & explained in detail exactly what we should do to treat our trees. We have an incredibly large willow oak in our backyard like so many in Charlotte do, but apparently, we may have one of the largest he will have ever treated, requiring a staggering 720ml of cambistat. Stephan was wonderful in telling us what trees were the responsibility of Duke Power to maintain, even gave me the phone number to call. He was very complimentary on the maintenance of our backyard oak and told us that he was pleased to see that even though Heartwood had never seen the tree, it had been treated very well and was in great shape. It is wonderful that Stephan is passionate about his work, because we are passionate about our trees, mainly the backyard oak, which is one of the reasons we bought our home. She is a beauty, and we will be proud for Heartwood to treat and care for all of our trees.

It didn't. They never returned my call so they could never do the job.

Got quote for service. A few days later a crew of 4 guys showed up and took down the trees. Also cleaned up very well after finishing the job. Couldn't tell they had been here except for the big empty space left where the trees used to be.

They were very prompt, arrived on time, cleaned up after themselves and the workers were very professional. I received a follow up call from the owner the next day.

Excellent service from start to finish. On time for first visit to quote the work and for the work itself. Very courteous, efficient, and helpful. Cleaned up exceptionally well. A pleasure to deal with.

I wanted to get a couple of quotes to have these trees trimmed around my home. It was a very quick response time from when I left a voice message to when I was called back and we arranged an appointment time. Stephan was very punctual the day he came to give me a quote. He was extremely polite and professional and had a great knowledge regarding the trees. He also recommended some fertilization. After receiving the quote, my husband and I decided to do the work ourselves since the pricing was a bit higher than we really wanted to pay. For larger jobs that we may encounter in the future, I will not hesitate to call Heartwood Tree Service to give us another quote.

They explained everything to me. They didn't do anything unless I knew what I was getting into.

We have been in the house for over ten years and many trees have grown significantly since we moved in. We also planted some trees over the years too. We were so overgrown that you could barely see the house from the street anymore and trees were growing at odd angles just to get a bit of sun. Our biggest concern were trees now growing over the house or brushing the house. We've had single trees removed before by other companies so knew what to expect for cost. Based on Angie's list we asked Heartwood to give us an estimate. Pete (I think) came and walked our lot, asked me what I wanted to achieve. He immediately identified trees that had to go, others to keep, others to trim, and together we worked out the plan. I was very happy with his quote. He suggested I wait since December was better for this work and I would get a winter discount. Three workers came on the 28, right on time, and got to work. They knew exactly what to do, we were amazed at how fast they worked. Excellent job.

Very, very professional! It was an outstanding experience. I will absolutely refer them to neighbors and friends. They should be very proud of their staff.

I contacted Heartwood for a price quote. I didn't get a reply, so I called back as I knew they had been busy. Stephan had misplaced my number and was very apologetic as there was nothing he could do but hope I called back. We lined up a time for him to come and give opinions and quotes. We got quotes from 2 other services, but went with Heartwood not just on price but knowledge as well. I contacted Heartwood and told them which items I wanted completed. The waiting list was a month long, but we were in no hurry. I was contacted when they were due to come out, pinpointed to 2 different days. I wasn't recontacted as promised as to the exact day, which didn't pose a problem as I am home. They arrived and did the work with a crew of about 4 guys. Stephan arrived and told the men what needed to be done. They did the job, cleaned up and were on their way.

Excellent. There was a fairly long wait to get the job done but there was no hurry as far as we were concerned.

They came an hour early, called my office and left a message complaining no one was home and asked that I call them back on their cell. When I arrived at the house when they were supposed to be there, no one was there. I called repeatedly but no one ever answered the phone. I'm very disappointed in them.

Needed several trees removed and some others trimmed. Heartwood called back quickly to schedule an appointment for estimate and told me they could schedule the work within three weeks. They were right on time. We did not even have to be home for the work. An invoice was mailed (and paid) promptly. Our first experience with a recommendation from Angie's List. It could not have gone better.

Excellent. Stephan came out and gave a very detailed estimate, as well as checking other trees for damage and decay.

Peter came and quoted on removing 7 dead or dying trees plus grinding the stumps and removing a large pile of brush and debris. The quote was broken down per item which made it nice if we decided we only wanted a few of the items done, but the cost was somewhat high for 860.00. Turned out we just hired some local teenagers to come cut down the trees, they loved doing that and then we doubled up with a neighbor on getting the stumps ground up. We ended up paying about $300 instead. I have no doubt that Heartwood would have done a good job, but we found some elbow grease instead.

Craig came out to give us an estimate for the job. He walked around the yard with me telling me what each type of tree was and what kind of shape they were in. I had a couple cherry trees that were not in great condition, one had a fungus and the other had root problems which caused half of the tree to die. I liked that he did not want to remove them right away, but instead said we should try removing the dead bits and see what happens. He said that since this was the busy season it might be 4-5 weeks before we could get on the calendar. It only took about 3 weeks before we were called and a team came to do the work. The 2 men took great care with the work and did a great job cutting and cleaning up the debris. The trees look great and we will have them back again for any future work. Great job guys and thanks!

Project went very well from start to finish. Peter Grisewood came out (on time) toured our property and made suggestions. He followed up with a detailed estimate. The crew showed up on time (actually a few minutes early!) Were courteous and friendly, did a professional job, and cleaned up afterward.

We live in an old neighborhood with some tremendous oak trees in our yard. While they are beautiful, every year we would have one or two limbs that would fall in the yard (one even fell on my car and crushed the windshield). I called Heartland, and they came out within the week. Gave us a quote of $1,000, which was about $500 less than the other 2 companies. They scheduled the work the next week, and came back and trimmed up all 3 trees without taking away from their beauty. In addition, although they had very heavy equipment in our yard to reach the highest branches, they were very careful not to trample any plants. Since then we've not had any trouble with large branches falling anywhere in our (or our neighbors) yard.

Great experience. Craig Errington promptly came to the house to assess and provide an estimate. He clearly loves trees. Beyond just talking about the trees I wanted removed, he assessed other trees on the property as well and talked about banding to prevent canker worms. He stated they were booked out 3-4 weeks, but since it was a fairly small job he might be able to send out a crew sooner. He wrote up a detailed estimate and diagram of the work to be done and marked the trees for removal. Much to my surprise, a crew came back just two days later to remove the trees. They did a great job and cleaned up the courtyard and side of the house after they were done. I would definitely recommend this company for any type of tree service.

From the moment I called Heartwood, every person I came in contact with was kind, professional and knowledgeable. I made the appointment for someone to come out & walk my property. Craig, an arborist, prepared a plan after we walked around & went over it with me. He explained that they were on a 4-5 week work schedule. I would be called when I was on their schedule. I was called 3 weeks after my initial appointment & the crew was right on time. I briefly talked with one of the crew members and he had all of Craig's notes (including a small map). I left to go back to work. When I got home, the work was done to perfection, and all was good in Simpson land. The areas where the work was done were cleaned and tidy.

Craig came out to my house within 2 days of my initial phone call to give me an estimate. His estimate included a diagram of my property and broke down the work in detail, itemizing the cost for each piece of work, limb removal, tree removal, stump grinding. He followed up with me after I got the quote to see if there were any questions. I had to coordinate the tree removal with the company that was putting in my new fence. Heartwood was able to schedule my work around the fence company. On the day of the service they arrived at my house early, which I appreciated, and did the work promptly and cleaned up afterwards.

They came out and gave me an estimate right on the spot. They told me it may take 4 weeks to work me in and it was done a week later. They were punctual and polite and I have already set up another service with Heartwood.
