Heartwood Tree Service LLC

We were very pleased with Heartwood. We used them before when we had another home that needed tree work done, so we felt comfortable with the company. We have moved into another home with a lot of very mature trees, so we thought it would be a good idea to have a professional come out and do an assessment for us. We also knew we wanted to raise the canopy on a number of trees in the backyard. We made an appointment and Pete Gricewood came out to meet me right on time. We spent a lot of time walking the property and discussing what might be good to do. I felt that I was getting good advice from Pete and was very happy with what we agreed to have done. The work was scheduled within 2-3 weeks and I was advised in advance both times that they were scheduled to work, once for the root feeding and the other time for the trimming. Both times the work was done neatly and carefully. We will continue to need tree maintenance on our property, and will continue to call on Heartwood.

Every employee, from Jackie at the office to the individuals working on our trees, was extremely professional, communicative, and courteous. The gentleman that did the original assessment did not try to sell me on anything that I didn't need right now, and he thoroughly explained the state of our trees. The company was able to remove the dead branches within a few weeks and install the tree swing (which our kids love). They cleaned up all the debris and worked quickly. They came back on a later date to band our trees, and instead of just working on the trees and leaving, the two gentlemen knocked on the door just to let me know that they were there. They didn't want me to be alarmed by seeing people in my yard. Heartwood services many homes in our neighborhood, and now we know why. They completely exceeded our expectations.

They are absolutely the best company that I have ever dealt with! They are A+ for everything, just fabulous! They cleaned up, and used a blower to clean the whole back yard. Not only did they cut down the trees, but they came back out and ground out the stumps too. They just did a great job!

Came out for estimate as scheduled, called to confirm start dates, showed up as planned, finished as planned.

The arborist who came to do the estimate was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. When the crew came to do the work, they were respectful not only of the trees but of all the plantings underneath the trees. They left my yard far cleaner than it had been when they arrived. The estimate was matched exactly, and when I realized that I had forgotten to use my Angie's List coupon, they promptly refunded the amount of the coupon.

Very responsive, very professional, and VERY costly.

Pete, our arborist, was prompt in visiting and explaining the situation with the pin oak (declining and terminal, the drought finished it off). He gave me a lot of good information on the other trees which helped in my decision making process. The crew arrived the same day as a general contractor who decided he would start my job without any prior notice. The GC pitched a fit when he saw the Heartwood crew lining up and blocking his access to the driveway. The Heartwood foreman calmly took it all in stride and moved his crew around to accommodate the GC. I made a couple of decisions that day about who would be getting my business in the future.The primary one was to be a Heartwood customer from here on out. It's true, you do get what you pay for and this is a classy group of folks from the telephone receptionist to the tree crew.

Great work and finished a couple of weeks earlier than they estimated. They were at my house to do the initial estimate two days after I called even though it was right after a big storm. Cost seemed very reasonable compared to tree work I had done at my previous home. Stephan was very helpful, I can tell he really loves trees. He identified every tree in my yard for me, told me which ones are healthy and which needed a little help, and what I need to do to maintain them (down to where I can download detailed instructions for mulching and what kind of fertilizer to use). He also helped me find the poison ivy in my yard, and, he even returned after the job was done and made some suggestions on what kind of tree I should plant in the spot where the dead tree used to be. Highly recommended.

They were very careful about following my instructions. I was pleased.

It was hard to lose the trees, but the crew was wonderful, they always arrived on time or early, worked really hard the whole time. It was a huge job and they did an excellent job. Each day they cleaned the area of all limbs and debris. We received numerous bid, Heartwood had the equipment to do the job and give us a competitive price.

The work was done professionally and cleaned up well. Unfortunately, during the process of removing one of the stumps, damage was done to our stone wall. Heartwood immediately agreed to have the wall fixed at their expense. They even found the person to repair the wall as the original contractor is no longer available. It was so refreshing to work with a company that took care of the problem created by their service without argument. Accidents do happen, and the way Heartwood responded was most appreciated. Excellent company, wonderful people.

I loved them. I loved everything about them. The price was a little higher than we estimated. He didn't promise a price he gave a ball park figure, but he worked in a confined space surrounded by septic lines and a septic tank so they couldn't drop anything on the ground or drive on the grass. They were on time, very professional. I was pleased with them in every other way except the price came in a little higher. He had given me an hourly rate but it ended up taking more hours than they estimated. They cleaned it up and left the area very well cleaned up.

They were very professional. The man that came for the estimate was very informative and low pressure. The men that came to do the actual work were prompt and did a great job.

They also come when they say they will and they are on top of everything. They are very nice, professional and I couldn't ask for anyone better.

I WANTED THEM TRIMMED AT LEAST 8 FEET FROM MY HOUSE TO KEEP SQUIRRELS AWAY. THEY TRIMMED THEM, BUT THEY MISSED TWO TREES. ONE, THEY NEVER TOUCHED AND THE OTHER, I FELT IT WAS MORE LIKE 6 FEET, NOT 8 FEET. THEY DID COME BACK OUT AND QUICKLY FIXED THE PROBLEM.

Extremely well. Work was performed as described (a bit better actually) and in very quick order. Original consultation led to an expectation of a three week delay before work could be done (same as competitors I interviewed) but the wait-time was actually less than a week. Workers arrived on-time and left the work area better than they found it.

Performed work actually before they had scheduled, took all day to cut down tree and chip it. They left stump cut to ground level(We did not want ground out) and left the yard clean of all leaves/branches. Appreciated effort on cleaning up. We were very concerned about size of tree and closeness to house, but Heartwood guys didn't even blink and got right to work- just business as usual for them-much to our relief-no surprises.

I called two other tree services from Angies's list - one came in at $1400 and the other at $1500. They based their estimates on exactly what Heartwood had marked, but both said they would not recommend taking down the two live trees that had the trunk damage. They said that they might eventually need to come down but there was no reason to take them down now. I ended up calling one of these services and he came over three days later and did the job for me. It looked great when he was done. This is not brain surgery - this is just cutting and pruning some trees. I think Heartwood's estimate was way out of line, particularly since the other two companies I called both came in almost $3500 cheaper.

They were extremely professional and came out and did exactly what they said they would do. They did such a great job cleaning up that if the tree hadn't been gone we wouldn't have known they had been out! We've used them for years and they're always that good.

Fast - reliable - fair price - candid advice.

Work was done within a couple of days. Except for the tree, there was no evidence that the work had been done. The cleanup was great.

The arborist, Peter, was prompt & professional. He made recommendations for our natural wooded area and for the Crepe Myrtles that I wanted to improve. The crew was prompt and professional. They did a very neat and quick job, asking me if everything was done to my satisfaction at the end. I will certainly retain them again for future work. Exceptional company.
