I called my regular tree service first thing the next morning, but they didn't have a crew available for several days. I then called Heartwood (the first name on the category list). They had someone here in an hour to determine the scope of work, and a crew here 4 hours later to remove the tree. The tree was removed and everything cleaned up in 45 minutes. Their price was 20% higher than my regular service's quote, which I guess is a premium for such fast service.

All I can say is another great job by Heartwood! I was not home the day of the service. No damage in any areas, clean. The tree was in the backyard. You would have never known there was a tree was in this location. This is the fourth time using this company. Extremely pleased.

They did a great job on the work itself and did a good job cleaning up. They have a great reputation in our city, so that is why I went with them. They were in and out fast and are definitely worth doing business with.

Initially set up the appointment with Jackie, who arranged to have someone come by and look at the work this Monday. I requested ASAP, and Jackie made a note of it. I called Jackie back to apologize for requesting a rush service. It had been 2 weeks, and my neighbor, who initially said he would cut up the fallen Leyland, backed down, and my lawn servicer could not do it for another week because his chain saw was broken, needed to be serviced, and he would not have time to take it to be serviced until mid-week next week. I wanted the fallen Leyland removed before the visitors come next week. Patrick George (the owner) answered the phone, and I told him the aforementioned. Patrick said he wanted someone to meet with me to go over the work because it sounded like a big job, and he expected the charge to be $500-$700. I objected strongly, and said all they needed to do was climb a ladder and use a pruner to tip off the tops of the Leylands because the limbs at the top are pretty thin. The fallen Leyland is not that big, and they would use a chain saw to buzz through the limbs. Of course, the Crepe Myrtle is not a difficult job. I told Patrick that they don't even have to haul anything off. I told Patrick, I would pay $150, to which he replied the minimum he charges is $195 to come out. I was shocked and told Patrick this was highway robbery to which he explained business expenses that would need to be paid -- there's the insurance to pay, the gas, two employees -- and I replied that I am a businesswoman and know exactly what it means to run a business, including the fact that his salary is probably $200,000 - $300,000. I suggest that Patrick George, the owner, replace the following posted on Angies List, "Cost is determined by job," with "Will charge a minimum of $195." If I had known it would cost a minimum of $195, I would not have contacted Heartwood Tree Service because I would know that Heartwood Tree Service would not do a small job and charge a fair price. I will eventually get the fallen Leyland cut, but it will take quite awhile with a manual saw, and the Leyland and Crepe Myrtle tops can go another year without trimming. I'm not sure how I am going to get the trunk over the back fence into the wooded area. I think I will probably have to drag it to its new resting place. Whatever it takes to stop trickle-up economics.

Heartwood ....you won't be disappointed ! First, let me say we had used another tree service three times in the past. They had done good work so we gave them a call, even though their latest rating on Angie's list had gone down some . Their Arborist came out and really pushed a variety of services... more than we wanted . We stayed with our original plan though for which they gave us a quote the next day. It seemed a little high so we selected "Heartwood" , off Angie's List, to get a comparison quote. John Maurice , a master Arborist at Heartwood , came out and we outlined what we wanted. John explained everything to us, was very informative , wasn't pushy, and took the time to explain his recommendations ! We agreed with John's recommendations but they were not drastic or expensive changes. John sent us an email estimate that was over 20% less expensive. That is nice but the main reason we went with Heartwood is because of John's attitude ! He explained how everyone at Heartwood has the same goals to provide a quality service that gives the customer exactly what they wanted and leaves them happy with the experience. John said that the owner (a fellow school mate of my wife's ...Patrick George ) really takes Pride in his business and that permeates down through the employees ! I was anxious to see if it was true. They were to arrive on a Wednesday at 0830....they got here 15 minutes early ! The crew was Scott, Jordan and Tobias ( I think there was a fourth but didn't get his name..sorry) . I reviewed the work order with Scott and they went to work ! They checked with me after each tree was trimmed to be sure we were happy with it. I also would ask some questions, which they gladly answered ! I never felt that I was bothering them. They even called me when it was time to watch the Big Grinder chew up our Pear tree....I enjoyed it just like kids do ! They cleaned up completely and even blew off the front porch that had a little dust on it! The crew put in a full day leaving around 6pm but even though I'm sure they were tired they were always pleasant and happy ! On a final note ...without going into a lot of detail ....Scott told me how he came to work for Heartwood ....and it said a lot of how the owner Patrick George genuinely cares about his employees !! Also a quick thank you to Jackie who scheduled everything , answered all my questions. and took care of me! And last but not least , Patrick , who came a few days later and ground all the stumps with the same great attitude and service as the rest of the crew !! To sum it up ...Heartwood is the "Chick Filet" in customer service for Tree service. Thanks for a great experience. Glenn

.It went very well and I felt completely confident that Patrick knew what he was doing. I believe that without their intervention one oak tree would have died. Since the treatment last year, the tree has begun growing again and there are no more dead branches.

I live in an old neighborhood with lots of old, mature trees where the standard lot size is .25 acre so most of my trees hang over someone else's property. I have had them trimmed by various companies in the past but this time I wanted an arborist to come out and look them over. Brandon inspected all the trees (including hitting them with a rubber mallet, first time I'd seen that) and gave me his feedback. Luckily, he thought they were all in good health. He was then able to give me a printed out quote for pruning on the spot, apparently he has a portable office in his car. He also gave me a copy of the company's insurance information, which I was glad to see. I do not want anyone doing this type of work on my property that is not properly insured (and proud of it). I had a little trouble scheduling (some of which was my fault) but every time I contacted the office, my concerns were addressed quickly. Isaac was especially helpful when I had to postpone one time because my neighbors started redoing their driveway. Christino and two other workers arrived on the scheduled day, worked diligently, and cleaned up thoroughly. They were extremely considerate of everyone's property. They used the bucket truck for some of the trees and then they climbed the largest tree in the back yard (which was fun to watch). Christino was very polite and seems to genuinely love his job. When he was finished, he thanked me for letting them work on my property, which was very nice. I missed the stump grinding, apparently that is scheduled so as to come after the tree work, but that was also done without any follow-up on my part. I have always heard about how great Heartwood is and I'm glad I called them.

It went well. The oaks were close to the house. The pine was one of the biggest I've ever seen. All the trees and limbs came down without a problem. The crew were very careful not to damage property and shrubs The crew had modern equipment and mechanical lifts and were obviously skilled in their use. When it was all said and done, they did not leave a mess behind. They made it look easy. But the job was a difficult one and the trees and limbs were very heavy.

After a tree fell on a neighbor's house during the recent storms, we decided to have a few worrisome trees on our property looked at by an expert. A friend highly recommended Heartwood to us. Like us, she is a tree lover who wants to maintain her natural looking landscape. We had been putting this off because we worried that someone coming onto our property would look at our trees and see the opportunity to take down this, that, change the look of the property, and charge a lot -- we've had a few "tree experts" come onto our property and offer to take trees down because they are large, old, and near our house. You know, the people who drive through neighborhoods after storms. We purchased this house, in part, because of the beautiful trees that are large, old, and surround the house, and we will live with the risk of tree damage but want to do what we reasonably can to prevent it. Our friend praised them so much that we called Heartwood and made an appointment. We had to wait a few weeks, but Brandon was well worth the wait. He is an arborist and an expert on keeping trees alive. As he was here, I realized that's an important difference. The other "tree experts" may know how to take things down, but it is worth paying for the services of someone who will keep them standing and living. Brandon walked around our front and back yards, which are not small, and looked at each tree. He answered our many questions about their condition and care. He spent about an hour and a half with us -- for $75.That might be the best $75 we've spent in a long time. It turns out that some of our concerns are just normal tree stuff, but we also know what to watch for now -- signs of actual problems. In addition to teaching us a lot, Brandon did not catastrophize. He looked closely at the trees and then explained what he thought. He told us what could happen over time that might be a concern in the future, but his visit was actually very comforting. We have much less to worry about than we thought we did! He also gave us options for a particular cluster of trees we had considered --and dreaded -- taking down. He suggested thinning the canopy, and we really like that idea and think it would work well. One tree, in fact, needs to come down, and we knew that was likely. Our only regret is not calling Heartwood when we purchased the property years ago. Had we acted sooner, they might have been able to save the tree. So, that's the lesson learned. We're expecting a quote for the removal of one tree and the pruning of a couple of others. I'll post back when we've had that done. Looking at Angie's List reviews by other members, I know that there are probably cheaper tree removal services, but this is one of those things where we won't go cheap. We will go with people who know what they are doing and who get how much we love our trees and the wooded feel of our property.

,See above. We were extremely pleased. We were expecting 35 people for an outdoor family reunion in our backyard. The day before, we heard an ominous creaking and saw that a limb was hanging from a tree. Several creaks later at nearly 5:00 p.m. on a Friday, we started calling around and found Heartwood. The person we spoke to asked to see photos; gave us an estimate; and said they could come out the next day. The workers were early (which was terrific), extremely professional yet friendly, and fast. They made sure that all the onlookers were safely out of the way before they started any work. They did what we wanted and more. I can't say enough good things about them.

I wanted to have a professional assess my trees since it had been a long time since I had done so. Brandon was on time, professional and answered all of my questions. He let me know about some additional services that may benefit my trees in the fall, but did put any pressure on me. I am happy to have the piece of mind in knowing that the trees on my property have no immediate issues.

Heartwood Tree Services exceeded my expectations! They came for the estimate when scheduled and arrived for the work on time. The job went just as described, probably better. After removing a tree very close to our driveway, they cleaned up so well that they left our driveway better than they found it! I highly recommend Heartwood Tree Services and will use them again if the need arises.

I called in a bit of a panic because I had just returned from a trip and was ready to head on another when I saw damage from a recent storm. A junction where 2 very large branches joined had split and one of the branches was ready to fall (and split more) any minute. I called Heartwood and told them I needed it done the same day - since I was leaving town. 3 men showed up and were very professional and organized. they did a great job and cleaned up everything afterwards.

We noticed our oak trees had more canker worms than usual this Spring. We called a local arborist who advised it was too late to treat the trees for the season. A few weeks later our trees had NO leaves at all. My husband stumbled across a mailing from Heartwood regarding canker worms and I called. The person on the other end was very knowledgeable about the canker worm situation and advised that there were several avenues to take to help preserve trees that had gone unwrapped from the previous Fall. Given the state of our trees and overall size we went with a deep root fertilization on each in an effort to help "feed" the trees for the season without the trees relying solely on their reserves. Heartwood came out within a couple days to treat the trees. A few weeks later they bloomed again! We will be calling Heartwood again this Fall for wrapping. We were very satisfied with this service.

The Heartwood team arrived on time, did their job well and cleaned away all of the tree debris. I would use them again.

It went perfect - we could not have asked for a better experience. I knew we were having trouble with a very tall Willow Oak in our side driveway which is sandwiched between our & 2 other houses. Of the three quotes I received, Heartwood's was not only the most reasonably priced, but I received the most information as to WHY it needed to be removed & reasoning behind the the services that the other 2 Willow Oaks needed. One quote in particular from another tree company, the "salesman" spent more time on why our job was so hard...the expensive equipment that was needed, etc., and their quote was much more expensive than Heartwood. Heartwood split the job up - the borer spray & fertilization were both done on different days by different people. The tree removal and deadwooding was expected to be a one day job, but turned into 2 days. All the people involved were very courteous and professional. They cleaned up completely after each day. In addition, they were the only company that realized a power line to my neighbor's house would have to be taken down each day by Duke Electric - they coordinated everything. If we ever have any further tree needs, we will absolutely go back to Heartwood!

The crew could not have been nicer and they were timely and professional.

The quote was about $2100. Brandon was the guy that we worked with. He was extremely knowledgeable about trees. He had a good eye for what needed to happen. He had some great recommendation on what we needed to do. He was very relaxed and not in an unprofessional way. He was efficient and friendly.

I would recommend them. They were professional. They did what they were supposed to do. I was happy with the results.

There were four men on the job and I liked that they were all great people. They are very particular with their work and they are extremely knowledgeable in their field. Their clean-up was immaculate and thorough. Also, they were great with my dogs, definitely worth the money for a project done right.

Excellent. True professionals. Saved us money by advising the one of the damaged trees may repair itself ( which it has),. Great company overall. Have used them for many services and been extremely pleased every time.

Heartwood did a great job. The arborist was very knowledgeable. I thought my large oak would have to be cut down but the arborist said removing the dead branches and trimming the other branches would more than suffice. The crew that did the work was very professional and knowledgeable. They arrived right on time and the job took about the estimated amount of time. I highly recommend this company and will use them again when I have a need for tree service.

Holly Pruning was not skilled and got worse as heat of the day progresssed. Owner, Patrick George, was called to inspect #### as I withheld partial payment ### Said crew would return in Jan to complete pruning. He had not even read the signed contract to see that three trees were To be innoculated instead of the one which was done. January is not here so we'll see if the owner is as good as his word.
