The painters arrived on lime and were extremely professional and went straight to work. I had bought 2 of Angie's list Big Deals and used both for this job. They completed the work, cleaned up after themselves, and were totally professional and I would love to hire them again

The project went very well. They did an excellent job. I will use them again.

I purchased an Angie's List coupon for $199 and made an appointment for the sales person (Bob) to come to our house and determine the amount of paint and man hours needed for the job. After his review, he said that there was no way that one painter could accomplish what needed to be done in one day, so he suggested that we pay an additional $199 directly to the company and they would send out a 2nd painter. He felt that the job could easily be done by two painters with time to spare and they could do some additional things for us. He and my wife agreed that the work would be done on Friday Aug. 9th. Several days later, I received his Customer Quote in my email and as I read through it, he seemed to have forgotten that we already had some paint and primer as he indicated we needed to purchase extra. Additionally, he only quoted one painter doing the work. So I emailed him back and asked him about the 2nd painter and on Aug. 1st, he responded saying that he would send a 2nd painter and asked what date we wanted the work to be done (???). I replied that sending the 2nd painter would be fine and reminded him that his quote indicated that the work would be done on Aug. 9th. After that, we never heard back and on Aug. 9th, one painter showed up. My wife asked where the 2nd painter was and he said that he was the only one scheduled to be there that day. My wife called the company and asked for Bob and was told he wasn't in the office, but they'd pass along the message. Apparently their painter also called and left a message for Bob. About 45 minutes later, my wife hadn't heard from Bob and she called me, so I called the company, left a voicemail for Bob and also followed up with an email. I heard back from him about 25 minutes later and he said that he'd forgotten about the 2nd painter, but would get right on it. He never called my wife back, but I think he called his painter, who was very nice, quite competent, but seemed a bit unhappy with Bob. Finally around lunchtime, a crew of three foreign gentlemen showed up to paint the room upstairs. They knocked it out in a short while and left and the other painter stayed until the end of the day to finish up downstairs. This was our 2nd attempt at using Five-Star painting and the other episode ended poorly as well. Needless to say we will not be using Five-Star Painting again and will not recommend them to others.

Before I purchased this deal, I called the company for an estimate. They sent an estimator out and he told me I needed to purchase three of these Big Deals, so I did. I tried to call to schedule the service and was unable to get ahold of anyone. I finally was able to get someone to get me in touch with Matt. Matt told me I couldn’t purchase three of the deals. He had the estimator call me and the estimator apologized and let me know that they could not honor the deal. It would be different if he didn't tell me to purchase three but that is what I was told.

I contacted this company after purchasing a Big Deal from Angie's List. I contacted Matt who came out for an initial estimate. I was expecting to pay slightly more, since my rooms were larger than those stated on the coupon. I also purchased two coupons in order to help offset the cost. Matt informed me that it would take five gallons of paint to complete the two rooms, which I purchased. His estimate for the job was approximately $1300.00. He did give me a discount for the coupons and for being an Angie's List member. On the day of the job, three different guys came to do the actual painting work. Communication was very difficult with them. They ended up only using three of the gallons, and what was to be a day and a half of work was completed in six hours. I complained about the excess of paint that I was told to purchase and he gave me money back. Matt had estimated 40% more paint than I needed, did he overestimate 40% more for labor? The initial estimate was only time that I spoke with Matt. I feel that he overestimated and I payed the price. In addition, the only accurate phone number for this company is Matt's personal cell phone.

The painters did a good job. They were on time and fixed or repainted anything that I wasn't happy with.

They were prompt, professional, clean, courteous and did quality work. Would definitely recommend them!

Overall they did an okay job, price was good as well as service and responsiveness, very happy with these aspects. My only complaint is the speed at which they move does not allow them to do quality trim work. In lieu of spending the time to tape seams and create crisp lines they ran a bead a caulk against the trim. This didn't create a crisp line and the caulk will certainly show more grime and dirt over the years than it would have is there was a crisply painted line at the seams.

This was one of the most disorganized businesses I have ever tried to work with. After we purchased the Big Deal, the owner came out to our house and reviewed the job. At that time, he set an appointment to come and do the work and told us what paint to buy. On the day they were supposed to paint our house, no one had shown up an hour after the scheduled appt (which was 9:00-9:30am), so we called the company to find out why. The call rang to a call center in Utah (we are in NC) and they couldn't answer any questions, but offered to try and get in touch with the painter. After another hour or so had passed, we called again and the girl who answered the phone laughed and said she had already tried to call and there was nothing more she could do. We asked for a supervisor and he at least offered to try and contact someone from the local store but he said both phones (the owner and the painter) were ringing to voicemail. Eventually my wife got a call later in the afternoon from the painter apologizing for missing the appointment. He asked for a second chance and she said we would discuss it and call him back. I called the painter's cell phone that evening and got his voicemail. The next morning, I called again and left a voicemail asking him to call me back. Later that evening, having not received a return phone call, I called again. This time I left a voicemail explaining that I would contact Angie's List and request a refund if I did not get a call back by 10:00 am the next morning. At 10:00am the next morning, I contacted Angie's list and requested a refund explaining what had happened and that I had still not received a call back. Not long after I had written my review, I received a call from the local owner asking for another chance and offered to do something to make up for it. I told him we would consider it and I would call him back. When I called him back to tell him we would accept his offer, he asked what painting they were doing. I questioned why he didn't know since he was the one who came out to review the job before we scheduled the original appt. We ultimately agreed to have them come back out to complete the job and scheduled an appointment for Friday the 28th at the same original time - 9:00 to 9:30am. I told him I would be at home that week recovering from knee surgery and that worked best. At 10:15am when no one had shown up (again!), we called the number and got the same Utah answering service. I expressed my displeasure and the person I spoke to said he would try to contact the owner. I received a call back within 30 minutes, but the owner said he had put it on his calendar for the next Friday (the 5th). I couldn't have been more clear about which day we wanted to have them come out and explained that to him and asked if he could come out the next day. When that was not a possibility, I told him that we would not be using his company and I would have to go back to Angie's List to update our experience. This has been one of the most frustrating experiences with a service provider we have ever had.

Great! There was a lot of detailed work needed in this room due to the wanescoating and crown molding, and we were very pleased with the look of it at the end. The painter was very accomodating to our needs, and even double checked that I liked the color I picked out to be sure I was certain with my choice. As it turns out I wanted to change the color, so he came back the next day to finish the project with the new color at no additional charge.

Overall it was a pleasant experience, the only issue was I expected the ceiling to be perfect but you can still see where they fixed the holes but they did the best they could according to the contractor. For that I rated them a B on quality. The other painting was fine, they fixed areas I pointed out that were missed or needed touch up and the price was very competitive. After they left we did see a couple missed spots but we touched them up. Overall would use them again.

I was soooo impressed with Five Star Painting. I have never had a job done so efficient, fast and look so great!! The team that was sent were awesome! The did such a beautiful job! 'Fast and Flawless!! They were very neat and clean looking--very professional. There wasn't a thing I had to clean up after they left. They left nothing to be cleaned. I am soooo pleased with this company that I would and will recommend them to everyone I run into!! The only other thing I can add is that I am so happy that I saw this wonderful special on Angie's List and took advantage of it!! I just sit back and look at the beautiful new paint job in my home--beautiful!! Judy

It went terrible! The job was done well, but they never showed for the original appointment. They never called me back, then they show up out of the blue the next day! They were lucky someone was home! They were supposed to show up today(5/17) at 9am to start the job. The rep showed up at 9:15am, but the crew who was doing the work didn't show up until 10am, only to say he needed to go pick up another member of the crew and they didn't start until 11am. They left at 1pm for a 3 HOUR lunch! He told me that he had to drive back to Denver, NC to get his pay check, but never called me to tell me why the lunch break was so long! He made some excuse that he would be fired if he asked me for my phone number due to the fact that the office was worried about him stealing work from them. The representative for the company that came out here to the house looked more than a little rough from a late night and wasn't quite recovered, so I locked him out of the house until the crew showed up. I will NOT be using Five Star Painting again in the future.

I called and spoke with them. They came and did the consultation and gave me the estimate. We arranged for them to come in the morning. They called to said that they were a half an hour late and that they were coming. They never showed up and never called me to follow up.

It turned out well and they did a great job. They were very professional and courteous. They came on time and were very friendly and helpful. It went smoothly and they were able to do it in the time frame they suggested.

They did a great job. They were very fast and got the job done quickly. They asked questions, and made sure that they were doing what I asked to be done. I would recommend them to others. The only thing I didn’t like is that I didn’t know who was going to be coming the day of painting.

It worked out fine for the most part. I wasn’t aware they were going to do so much repainting on the walls. The initial rep gave me the impression trim work would be done near the ceiling to square the edges, but in the end there was touch up paint pretty much everywhere along the top 4 feet of the some of the walls. The main painter had actually been one of the original interior painters of this very house in 1996 and remembered what paint had been used. I went to the recommended paint store with a little cutout wall chip and purchased a can of touchup paint (at the painter's discounted price), but as the wall color had aged during this time, the touchup paint was somewhat lighter (and the next darker color wasn't a match). It was nice that the main painter hammered back and mudded the nail ends that had popped through in the shower area; however this created yet another area that is going to need to be repainted. Also in the process, one of the workers broke the bracket and top slat on my mini-blinds and didn’t say anything. The main painter left plaster finger marks on my brand new little boombox which he'd asked if he could use. I felt these little glitches weren’t very professional. So, weighing the pros and cons, in the end, my ceiling looks GREAT, but I need to repaint the walls :(.

It was good. He did a great a job. I would recommend them to others.

It turned out well. They were very good. They got the job done quickly, and I was pleased with the outcome. I would hire theme again.

Did an online inquiry and got an email within 5 minutes asking a good time to call. Owner Bob called when asked and made an appointment to come out. Came when scheduled. Did a thorough measurement and estimation. Went through the process and what he could offer. Gave a few options on payment and discounts. Most impressed that he understood for us it was quality over price although the price was more than fair and less than we expected. All our neighbors that have had their shingles done only to have mold come through in a short period of time. His estimate included a special power washing that eliminated all the mold and allowed drying time before painting. And a 6 year guarantee. He didn't even have us give him a deposit or sign a contract. He put us in the schedule and called us the day before to confirm. Then we dealt directly with Scott the painter. He was early, extremely professional and the best painter I have ever seen. My husband is super picky too! We picked out a weird color for the garage doors and Scott had me look at it twice before he finished and I told him it was fine. I hated it days later and Bob had him come back and repaint it for just $100. We thought that was more than fair considering he gave us plenty of time to change it. They kept the neatest jobsite every day. They covered everything around them to prevent getting paint anywhere else. Most of our neighbors you can see at least one spot of spilled paint on a roof shingle when they have painting done but ours looks great. I have never seen anyone enjoy painting as much as Scott. They are our painters from now on and we plan to have some indoor painting done soon. UPDATE - I just saw that Five Star is offering a Big Deal today and was surprised to see the B rating overall. I understand that you cannot please everyone but I cannot say enough good about the job they did for us. I would not be put off by the B nor the fact they are offering an incredible deal. I am not related to anyone in the company but I just know a great company when I do business with it!

It was good. The work was a little bumpy at times, but they stayed on top of things until it was done correctly, and to my satisfaction. They were very proficient.

It was fine. At the end of the day the painting was fine, but they could be a little cleaner with their mess. They could be cleaner with their painting.
