Description of Work: Hired Five Star to do minor painting and repair work to a home. The decision was made primarily because of the fact they were on Angie's List. We discovered that the quality of their work was shoddy and actually caused more damage to the siding. The subcontracted handymen were very unprofessional - discarded trash and debris left around the site, much of the wood with nails protruding - a safety issue for themselves as much as it was for the 80 year old homeowner. We asked them to stop all further work immediately and agreed to pay them for work completed. When we tried to discuss our concerns with one of the owners - poor carpentry, safety and the lack of professionalism of his workers, he responded by actually accusing us of being racist! Owner refused to sign receipt that payment had been received. He offered a $50 discount, if we agreed not to share this experience with Angie's List. In order to pressure us, he threatened repeatedly to file a lien against the property, despite the fact we had already written a check for all work done! This was the most amazing, absurd and almost comical display of workmanship and customer service I've EVER experienced!

Description of Work: Five Star painted most of the house that we purchased prior to us moving in. The entire experience was professional, performed on time, and was of good quality. There was some detail that I feel was missed, like sanding over previous paint drips before painting over them. But other than that, they did an excellent job.

Description of Work: They painted my great room - ceilings and walls including an accent wall. Two coats - 3 on accent wall and done in a day, including trim.

Description of Work: They scraped popcorn ceilings on the 1st floor of my my home. 1st day 3 people. 2nd and 3rd day 1 person. They left a mess! Dust left everyday on walls furniture behind furniture and in light fixtures. Everywhere! They did say I could get a discount on my 2nd floor. Undecided if Ill use them again. |

Description of Work: I needed my main bedroom and my dining room painted and they did a lovely job. The two men assigned to our job showed up right on time and were so professional. They completed to my satisfaction both rooms in 5 hrs time and left my rooms so clean and nice. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. In and out and the job is done and over with now. YEAH and the house looks lovely and clean..

Description of Work: I called the company & they sent out Patrick Kiessling to look over the job. We talked about the type of paint, how much paint & then set the appointment to come do the job. On the day of the job Patrick & 2 other 5 Star Painting employees arrived right on time - made some decisions - and got busy. One painter stayed & did some patching, then painted. It was an awesome experience & i am THRILLED with how my master bath looks. It was a job well done & I will certainly call them when I need painting done again.

Description of Work: Daniel Campana with Five Star Painting/Carolina Eco Smart came out on Friday, March 30th to price the job. He was several hours late and came after I called to see why they were late. He quoted me 479.00 with the discount/Big Deal. He told me the job would start later the following week and someone would call me 2 days ahead of time. They arrived on Monday with no notice and were there when I got home from work, Nester pressure washed half of the deck. They had not moved everything off, but said they would be back the following day to finish up, including the sealing of the deck. I asked when they would do the second coat which I was in the contract I signed and was told, no second coat was needed. From then on, everything was downhill. They broke a small piece of stain glass I had out on the deck. They were not careful with where they placed my furniture.....they left the furniture, grill, etc out for 4 weeks, never came back. In the meantime, I am on the phone with Matt Phillips who said, they were overwhelmed with the Big Deal response, he was short staffed, they were a small company. He could not explain why I was only getting one coat...I had also requested my guttters to be done with his company and even that was messed up. I had ordered down spouts, installer had no idea about them when he came to install Gutter Glove, so I said forget it. I refused to pay more than the deposit as the service was so shoddy. He threatened to take me to court, I threatened back. It was a bad situation and I will never have anything to do with Five Star Painting or Carolina Eco Smart again.
