What a wonderful experience! This was part of a much larger job mostly involving plumbing repairs and water damage. James came out to do the ducting removal to get at the pipes. He arrived on time, told me what needed to be done, gave me a quote and did exactly as he promised. He replaced the ducting and had a new box made for the air return on the furnace. Out of all the contractors we worked with on this issue, JE Brown was definitely the best. There were no surprises. There was no pushing to do more than was necessary. The quality of the work was outstanding and the price was very reasonable. We will absolutely use them for any further HVAC work we need to have done.

James seems to be a very thorough worker. In fact, I had an issue with a second-floor dryer vent that had been improperly installed by someone else. I could tell that it was not working properly, but the original company came back out and said all was OK. When James came to check my heating system, I asked if he would look at it. Five minutes later, he had found the problem. He told me exactly what to show to the installers and what to ask for in terms of replacement/fixing the problem. I called the original installers back out, showed them what James had showed me, and they admitted their mistake and promptly agreed to fix it all (about $2K worth). It could have become a huge fire hazard and/or a huge cost to me to fix - but James found the problem and told me how to go about getting it fixed by the other company. He has applied this same work ethic to evaluating our systems, and I trust his judgment completely.

We called J.E. Brown's Mechanical Group to have our HVAC system inspected. It hadn't been checked out since we moved in two years ago, and we were unsure if the previous owners had kept up with maintenance. In addition to several minor problems with the system, James found that the heat exchanger was cracked, and he showed it to me. We did not have any information regarding the heat exchanger, but James got the manufacturer's information, did some research, and found that the part was under warranty! Thus, we got the heat exchanger itself replaced at no additional cost, saving us hundreds of dollars. I was so impressed with the quality of service that I signed up for their annual maintenance program. I would highly recommend J.E. Brown's Mechanical Group to anyone in need of service to their heating and air system.
