It was a great deal for the price-new thermostat works great, no problems yet. Tech was on time, did a great job. He offered other services/plans but did not pressure me. If I need HVAC work in the future, I will not hesitate to consider using them again.

The service man arrived at the stated time. He inspected all the components of the system, checked all the vents, and adjusted the thermostat. He was very thorough. We have used Acosta for years, and they always arrive when they say they will, and they always do a good job. We've never had a problem with them.

Went fine. Jamie came out 2 days ago and determined my problems and came out today to fix everything.
Description of Work: I have 4 systems and all needed work--some preventative and some because of problems with the system and/or previous work. This is the first time I've used Acosta--but they were referred by a neighbor. Jamie Wylie was very professional and tried to help me save money as much as possible since I was having so much work done. I appreciate that very much. He also took time to show me everything he had done.

We have been very happy with them. They were here for a big length of time. We had an issue with our master bedroom downstairs, we felt like we were not getting the same air circulation for the rest of the house. They spent some time investigating that and they did a very thorough and quality job. They were very good and thorough. If we had issues they come out and take care of it. Once we had an issue with our unit, so they came and fixed it. Now our house was probably one of the where the temperature was 100 and something degrees and people would walk into our house and they tell me that our house feels good. We were happy with that.

We have a maintenance agreement that is expiring. The service depends on who comes out. One fellow who comes out is very hard working and does a great job of explaining what is happening in our system what might happen in the future what we need to look out for. He is very trustworthy; we can trust when he tells us that something is not working, it is not working. Other people that come out always find something that sounds vague; nothing seems wrong to us in the system but they find something that we have to replace that is going to cost a lot of money. We ask whether we have to replace it and the answer is that, no, you don't have to but it might break in the future. So we don't replace it and everything is fine so we find that some they send out are not trustworthy. We have since requested that they only send the trustworthy tech out. I will use them again in the future.

Within the past 2 years I have had my downstairs and upstairs HVAC systems and the upstairs duct work replaced by Acosta. I have been a customer for many years and have prepaid for fall and spring routine service. I am having some upgrades to my home and during an inspection of the venting in my den, my general contractor noticed that the duct was not attached to one register. I called Acosta and told the service receptionist that I was a long time customer and that I had a service agreement to cover me for fall and spring. She told me when a service technician could be out and I said ok. The service technician called the next day and said he was on his way but wanted to know how they would get their fee. I told him I had an account and that my credit card information was on file with the company. He said he'd call me with the $$ after he finished and that I needed to call the company after that. I called Acosa and was in the process of giving my credit card information when the person said that they'd be back out within a few days to do my fall service. At that point, their phone system went down and despite multiple calls, I could not reach the office. The lady called on Monday and I began to ask questions. 1. Why wasn't it noted that I was due for a fall service. 2. Why didn't you offer me the ability to avoid a separate fee for travel ($75.00). Why didn't the service schedule person access my account and know that I was a long time customer? I wrote Mr. Acosta an email and he due to illness had a gentleman call me. The guy was pleasant and apologized and essentiall offered nothing. He asked me what they could do to retain my business and I replied nothing...I wanted to terminate the business relationship. My reason is pure and simple: If I am a customer with a service agreement and your company cannot tell that when I call in, then I am not going to do business with you. There is no reason that the scheduling person could not have looked at my account and offered me the option of a schedule that would have avoided an extra charge for a service call, since, they were due out within a few days. Also, by having a service agreement, I was supposed to get a discount on repairs. Always funny how companies want their money asap but neglect to offer their customers savings to which they are entitled based on their prepaid agreements. I am waiting for my refund and have changed HVAC service companies. Additionally, when my upstairs HVAC sytem was installed this past spring, their crews did not bring tall enough ladders to work on the extra vents they installed on the second floor overlook. I had some minor ceiling drywall damage that I was supposed to be contacted about.....still waiting on that. I have hired a painting crew and they will inspect the vents and repair the damage. I'm sure I'm not the only home in the area tha has a second story. Not the same company I was used to working with. Think long and hard before using this company.

The member has been a good and loyal customer and we hate to loose him. He complains that he was not given his maintenance customer discount but his invoice clearly states he received a $22 discount. He complains that we did not offer to do his maintenance at the same time and save him the trip charge, we are departmentalized and the maintenance techs do not do ductwork repairs so two trips would be requred anyway. He was also sent an email in late September reminding them that their maintenance was do in October and to call the office for scheduling a visit which they never responded to or called for scheduling. So when he called us to pay for his repairs he was offered to schedule the maintenance which he refused. Funny part is that the member calls we do bring his records up on our computer system and remind him of the maintenance that needs to be scheduled but he claims he does not want to do business with a company that cannot tell he is a customer..

We have a maintenance contract with Acosta and they came out and did their yearly 'maintence' on our heating system on both our units,on Saturday as it got cold I noticed there was nothing but cold air coming out of my second upstairs unit. So not wanting to spend $100 to have them come out I did a quick look at the unit and noticed 2 things. #1 The safety switch that turns off the unit should you take off the cover was taped over with black electrical tape #2 The cable to the ignitor was disconnected. Not only bad service, but frankly unsafe service. I also noted that the service man said he was in a hurry but our furnace was pretty old when he left, I don't know if this was a scam to get my to buy a new unit or just an incompetent service person but Acosta won't be used any longer.
Description of Work: We HAD a yearly maintence plan with Acosta to take care of our two ac/heating units.

I decided to call another service provider and my A/C was fixed in less than an hour for $200. This was my 3rd concern over Acosta's diagnosis by 3 different technicians. In the Spring of 2011, I was told the electrical wire for one unit was insufficient and dangerous and they could replace for about $800 to $1,000. I called an electrician who told me it was fine (cost of $125 for the service call). In the fall of 2010, I was told one of my A/C units needed replacing. I didn't do it and it is still running fine. UPDATE - I'm not sure where the provider is getting their response but I have attached a copy of the invoice on which I had to decline a contactor for $194 and a compressor for $2,486. It was Saturday, it was hot in the house, if I was told they could get my air running by replacing the contactor for $194 you would not be reading this report.
Description of Work: I have used Acosta for several years for annual service and maintenance for my heating and air. My A/C went out recently and the technician told me I needed a compressor and contactor for a cost of $2,700.

The technician clearly stated on his invoice A/C unit needed a new contactor but that compressor Meg-Ohm readings were high which indicated compressor may fail in the near future. He then suggested to the member that because of the age and the low efficiency rating of his unit he should consider replacing the A/C unit before making any major repairs. The member requested an estimate of replacing the compressor which he was given and he further indicated he wanted a comfort consultant contact him Monday for an appointment, the member then called Monday and said he had contactor replaced which is waht we recommended in the first place. He was upset and did not let us explain. He should look at copy of invoice which he signed stating the contactor needed replacing.

They were good, but were too expensive for what I did. I would give them an A on everything and a B on price and that was why I did not get the heating and air-conditioning unit from them. The price they quoted me was maybe $4500 for that service. They were when they said they would.

Everything they did was okay. They did what we needed them to do and they were okay. So it was fine. I really couldn?t compare their price to anyone else. Their quality was fine. There was a glitch since one of the parts that we used for the unit wasn?t of the right size for the unit. So they had to come back a couple of times, but it was no big deal. They came on time. Overall, things went well, with just a couple of bumps due to a lack of communication from Acosta. We called Acosta out on the recommendation of a friend due to the outrageous quote we received from another, more well-known company here in the Charlotte area. The Acosta tech, Darryn, arrived on time, was very friendly and knowledgeable. I explained that I had already had the issue diagnosed, but was looking for a second opinion on the fix. I didn't tell him the previous diagnosis. Darryn diagnosed the issue the same as the earlier company, but offered to fix the coil rather than tell me I must replace the entire system due to changes in the law - which is what the prior company told me. The price tag from Acosta was some $3500 less than the earlier company. I paid a deposit of $440 and asked when I could expect the repair to commence. Darryn replied that they were going to look around to find a coil that would fit my system. I asked if they would call me and explained I was expecting the repair to commence within two-three days (by Friday of the same week). Darryn, whether or not he meant to, responded in the affirmative and so I was left expecting that we'd have our a/c back in a couple of days, three on the outside. I therefore opted not to have the freon recharged - knowing that it would only leak out. He left and all was well. Come Friday I had not heard anything and so I called Acosta in the morning to find that they weren't expecting the part until Tuesday of following week and were going to execute the repair on Wednesday. I explained that I was very unhappy about having to call them and about finding this out now. The lady with whom I spoke, Brenda, was very apologetic, but didn't offer anything other than apologies and I didn't press. I double-confirmed that the repair would occur on Wednesday and she ensured me it would and that it would occur between 10 AM and noon. We sweated it out til Wednesday where I had to call again around 11:30 AM to find out that the tech was not going to make it. He was held up at another repair. Brenda was again very apologetic, but didn't offer anything other than apologies. I asked when the tech might show up and was told middle of the afternoon. He eventually called around 2 and explained that he be arriving around 3. He showed up at 3:30 and went right to work. It took him 3 hours and he had everything fixed. While not pleased with the amount of time from deposit to actual repair and the lack of communication, we were very pleased to have our a/c returned.
Description of Work: On the initial visit, Darryn from Acosta diagnosed a leaking evaporator coil. On the day of service, the same technician replaced the coil and tested the a/c to make sure all was working properly.

Overall, a bad experience. I would think in this economy they would be welcoming work, but that is not what happened. I shouldn't have had to follow up with them over and over.
Description of Work: We have a split level home that requires dampers installed on our zone system. We had put this off because of cost, but decided it was time to have them installed. I wanted it done before Thanksgiving so that the kitchen was hot and the downstairs cold when I was cooking. I called late October to give them plenty of time to put us on their schedule. After 10 days, I had no return call from them. I called again and they said they would get someone right on it! They scheduled someone to come out and look at the system but sent a sales guy. He said he would send a technician out because he couldn't tell us what needed to be done (I had already told them what needed to be done!). Never heard from them again. It's a shame because when we remodeled our home 3 1/2 years ago they did all the heating and cooling work on the house and did an awesome job. Don't know what has happened since then, but I won't have them out again. I will be calling someone else in the future.

We wanted to replace our 25+ year-old heat pump system with a more energy-efficient model and take advantage of the tax break. Acosta recommended that if we keep the original hard ducts they could insulate them, as opposed to the other proposals we received to replace them with flexible ducts (which we think are a lesser quality). The crew was very professional, and even repaired the attic steps which were already starting to break. The work was done very well, although some schedule delays were problematic. Due to an oversight in the contract, it wasn't spelled out which filter we wanted although we had discussed it with the salesman. When we discovered that they had installed the wrong filter it took several days to replace, at no additional charge.
Description of Work: Replaced entire heating/cooling units for upper story, wrapped ducts for both upper and lower story, added filter and fabricated filter housing.

I find it amazing that the member says in October that we never replied to their requests. We gave the member 3 different proposals one on Dec 19, 2008 a second on January 12, 2009 and a third (after I returned to the office after the member email me on June 26, 2009 while I was out of town) on June 30, 2009 via email at 3:20 PM. All our proposals ranged between $3000.00 and $5500.00 yet they chose to go with another company for $7500.00 and that company did get the required permits with the county but has never applied for the inspection so their system should not have been turned on and could be unsafe to operate. I believe the member should have asked her husband before sending untruthful reports.
