A-1 Wildlife Control

This was truly a five star experience, and the first of this kind that I've had with a pest control company. Unlike past experiences, A-1 made me feel comfortable and informed all the way. Alan responded immediately when I called about a bat problem. Phil came out promptly to assess the situation and let me know how their service works. I knew immediately that these guys were different from other companies I've hired in the past - THOROUGH. It was clear that they would not cut corners and that they would stand by their work once completed. Shawn and Chris were my techs and they did an outstanding job. Always on time and professional. There is obviously a customer-service oriented culture at A-1 Wildlife. They all had the same friendly and respectful attitude, which I appreciated very much. I would recommend A-1 in a heartbeat to any of my friends and neighbors. Thanks guys!

Professional, prompt, knowledgeable & thorough are words to describe Dustin and his crew Shawn & Nathan from A-1 Wildlife Control. They were able to rid our home of the squirrel within 3 days, schedule and repair the damage caused by the critter within a few weeks. I had a question and my phone call was returned by the owner Allen quickly. I highly recommend their services if you have a critter problem. You can trust what they say and they will get the job done.

Excellent! Shawn Irish made repeated visits during bitter cold and snow, setting traps. He used non-lethal traps that locked when triggered and allowed him to transfer them to an area that is reserved by the state of NC for this purpose.

Went well....They installed a strong wired mesh over the gable slats to keep bats from conjugating....

Trapped and removed one squirrel. Left the trap in place for a few more weeks without catching any more. Removed the trap and covered the gable vent to prevent any future problems.

I had a lengthy conversation with the owner regarding removing squirrels in my attic. After convincing me that his very high priced service was the best, we agreed on a scheduled time. When i told him that I was hoping to have someone sooner than 2 days out. (His web site does say 'same day service'), he suggested that I call another company to see if I could get someone onsite sooner. I did but could not so I called him right back a few minutes later to confirm our appointment. He informed me that he gave my time slot away and was now booked out a week. Very very unprofessional!

In this situation, I have a unique view into how effective this companies attempt to capture the squirrels that are setting up shop in my attic was or to be more specific was not. I have a ring motion activated video doorbell camera that we were able to easily place at the spot where the squirrels are entering and exiting the attic. We showed the point of entry to the company A-1 Wildlife , they placed 2 traps and for at least 3 weeks the squirrels repeatedly walked right by their traps coming and going in and out of my attic at will, 10 or more times per day. A-1 eventually switched from capture and release traps, to kill trap but more time went by with nothing happening and still not one squirrel being captured and so instead of having an open ended 169 initial setup cost and then 25 dollars every time they had to come out to reset the trap or reset the bate, (why would you need to come out to reset the trap or bate if they were working) They had come out several times and I was initially under the impression that we paid the setup fee of 169 then say 69 or something like that when they caught something but I was mistaken so after about a little more than a month I had them come and get their traps and we settled up with a final payment of 95 (they came by the house when no one was home and removed the trap and according to them "Mr. Baker there was a Squirrel in the trap!" We caught one of course there no proof and no one saw it but them, I quickly paid the bill in spite of my skepticism ) so we ended up paying them 264 dollars and as far as I know not one squirrel was captured my wife and I would look at the traps on the roof every day with our binoculars and NEVER saw a squirrel captured or killed. Either way, I sit here this Saturday morning December 16 , 2017 listening to squirrels running around in my attic, as I write this post for angie's list. And considering another company to help me with my squirrels in the attic issue. Consider yourself warned A-1 Wildlife is not that good, I am not sure if its: 1. Bad traps 2. Bad bate 3. Bad trap placement 4. Really smart squirrels Or 5. bad trappers but I expect a company that does this all day every day to have: 1. Awesome Traps 2. Irresistible Bate 3. Pin point trap placement 4. Not well. The Technician showed up on November 29, 2017. Three holes were located and two traps were set. We paid $169, at that visit. A few days later, two squirrels were caught and taken away, then one other was caught several days later and removed. Dustin called to ask if we wanted to finish out by sealing the holes. He had written a contract for $474 (which included poison for mice control, as was noted during the initial visit in the attic). We were told that there were mice and was sold a bucket of poison for the mice. The grand total was $427, using the Angies List coupon. He instructed that we sign the contract and text a photo to him. We complied. Nathan arrived today for the completion of the work and for payment. My husband and I expected to pay the Grand Total of their $427 as we signed off on and returned to Dustin, as requested. However, Nathan added $207 that was due for a total payment of $634. We questioned this amount since it was not part of the their Grand Total of $427, as stated in the contract. We spoke with Allen who remained steadfast with adding the $207 to the Grand Total. In sum, we paid an actual Grand Total of $803 to this company for the removal of 3 squirrels and mice poison. We are not happy with this "bait and switch" tactic and feel that this company is not acting in good faith, as we are. We paid the amount owed to avoid confrontation and to not create a hostile environment in our home at the time of the Holiday season. We are concerned that this company will continue to rip off unaware consumers. We plan to contact the Better Business Bureau to assist us with this situation as we feel that we were misled, as senior citizens.

It took multiple attempts but Dustin finally got them. Required extensive repairs so that they couldn't get back in.

Phil was incredibly responsive. Found the location where the squirrels were getting in. Took photos and showed us. Set up traps and caught the two squirrels. Once we were sure no more were coming in, we had them seal up the gaps around all of the exterior of the house. Prompt, good communicators, and reasonably priced.

Very well - Phil came out to do the assessment. He was very professional and explained exactly the process for safe bat removal (no harm is done to the bats). He is very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Once the assessment was completed, the team came to set the net and close any open areas outside of the home. The overall process took about 2 1/2 weeks once the net was in place. The services were finalized by Nathan - and he too did an exceptional job. The team is very professional and the quality of work that was completed was great.

2 bats in my house in 2 days! They came out right away. Found a nest in my eaves & some had got into my attic. They were super informative, priced right & obviously knew what they were doing. They had the bats safely evacuated & my house protected from any getting back in. I've already recommended them to a neighbor a few houses down the block from me.

I could not decide if a B or C should be given and decided on a B. They know what they are doing except communication was slow and I was the one having to follow up which was aggravating. Here is a heartbreaker. A squirrel was in the trap and they were called to remove the squirrel. They failed to come that day and the squirrel died in the trap. You could hear it struggling in the trap...it was terrible. A different tech came the following day on Saturday to retrieve the squirrel and said that sometimes they die right away due to fright. We just felt so bad that this animal had to suffer and thought if the first guy had been timely this would not have happened.

We called A-1 on May 13th. Allen said he was moving something across country was out of town for the next week and that he would call the next day to schedule. He did call the next day and had Phil come out for the initial inspection later that week. Phil noted that there was a small colony of bats. The next morning we had a bat in our bedroom which is right below the attic. I texted Phil to let him know about that and got no response for three hours. so I called Allen to ask him if they would be able to place the net any sooner. His response to me was "keep your appointment because we are having to turn people away we are so busy". Phil eventually called me back and said that we must have left a window or door open (we didn't) and that's how the bat got in. I texted Phil on a Saturday that we had the signed contract ready for him to pick up. He never responded. I called him the next day and he said that he saw my message but hadn't had time to call me back. He came that Monday to pick up the contract, and said that someone in the office would get back to me with scheduling a time to complete the project. Five days went by and no one called me back. I called the office and talked to Allen who said he would call me back. His wife who works the office called me back and said they would not be able to fit us in for the net placement and soffit sealant until the next week. The tech was on time and explained that he would be back in 14 days which was today 6/27 in the morning. At 10 am I called and had to leave a message for the office to get an ETA on when the tech would be there to complete the attic cleanup and disinfect. Allens wife called me back and said the tech was going to call me. the tech called and said that he forgot to call me and tell me that they were running two days behind and that they would be able to come Thursday. He was very apologetic. I wish we could just get out of the contract. Who would have thought it would take a month and a half to get a simple project done? I want to add that both Allen and Phil need to learn a little about customer service because from the multiple phone calls I made to them, they were both very arrogant and they acted like they were to busy to talk to me. if I'm paying you $1,000 I want it done when you say it is going to be done. we should at least receive a discount for all the trouble we've had to go through.

They came on time, explained how they would remove the bats in detail and explained the pricing in detail. Did a great job.

The work was done well and I am satisfied. My only issue was with responsiveness of the technician, and him not coming when he had indicated he would. Some was weather related, and I understand that, but the communication was lacking. If you are not coming out because of weather on that day, or if weather on other days has you backed up, fine. But communicate that.

Successful! Great communication about what could/ should be done and how to prevent it happening in the future.

Technician was professional. Answered all my questions. Took good care of everything we contracted. Pricing for these services was reasonable. Other services were recommended. I thought these services were too high-priced. So I declined them. Fully satisfied with services I purchased and received. Would definitely hire again.

Phil came out and sealed the entryways in the attic. He left two exits just in case they were stuck inside attic. He was very friendly and professional.

Original consultation scheduling went well. Had issues with scheduling once my tech was on my job. Didn't receive notification of exact day that they were planning on completing the job. So I had to leave work to unlock gates, which was very inconvenient. Work was well done and perform as indicated.

A-1 Wildlife Control responded quickly to our phone call about concerns over possible squirrel activity in our attic. Phil came out and thoroughly inspected our attic and determined we had mice not squirrels. He took the time to explain in detail how he came to this conclusion and gave us several options to remedy the situation, including solutions that would not involve further service from A-1 Wildlife. Phil was extremely courteous and we appreciated the time he took to answer all our questions and concerns which helped us make a decision on how to tackle our problem. Will definitely call them again if we ever encounter an unwanted wildlife visitor again.

They were very responsive. They trapped it and made sure no more came or went with some special device then sealed up the point if entry.
