I had a problem with my garage door opener, and he told me over the phone the exact amount it would cost to (1) repair it, (2) buy a new one from him and have him install it and (3) have him install one that I purchased elsewhere. I ended up buying one from Home Depot and had Mr. Todd install it. He was on time, very fast, courteous, and professional. The work was done to my satisfaction, and he cleaned up after himself.

Description of Work: My garage door opener transmitter stopped working. Sturdy Todd (owner) came out to check it (prepared to replace system if needed). It turned out to be a simple "fix". He checked the door, sprayed, and even programmed my car so it would work with the transmitter.

 + -1 moreSturdy was very nice over the phone and called me to let me know he was on the way. He arrived with his nephew and both were great. Sturdy looked at my door, took care of the excess noise and gave me some good suggestions on what to do to keep it from happening anymore. He also gave me some good information about things that may happen down the road (considering the age of the door opener). Overall, he was very helpful, professional and I would most definitely call him again if I needed service on the garage door again.
Description of Work: Sturdy came out and fixed the noise my garage door was making when opening and closing.

 + -1 moreI was very pleased with his response to my problem and handled it as promised. I felt that the price was reasonable with the Angie's List discount of $15.00. Naturally, I was embarrassed that I didn't figure it out myself but I will know the next time.
Description of Work: I called Mr. Todd on Tuesday, October 17 and he said he could come out on Friday, October 20. He inspected my garage door and found that cobwebs were causing the door to re-open after closing. He did routine maintenance and explained how I could do it myself.

 + -1 moreOne of the springs on my double garage door broke making opening & closing of the garage door impossible. This happened around 1:00 PM on a saturday. The bad part about this was that my car was inside the garage so I was more or less house bound. I called Mr. Todd as he had installed my door 13 years ago when my house was built. He had also serviced the door one other time. Mr. Todd phoned me first thing monday morning. He came over to repair my door shortly thereafter. I was so happy he was able to fix my door so quickly as I was going out of town the next day. He does an excellent job and I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Replaced springs on a 18 x 7 Windsor insulated steel double garage door. Also replaced two rollers that were worn out.

 + -1 moreMr. Sturdy was very accommodating and came out to look at my door the next day after I called him. He replaced the sensors at the bottom with some used sensors that he said are working fine and he did not charge me for those parts. He also sprayed the metal parts on the door and now it does not squeak at all. He also answered all my questions and showed me how to operate the door in case of power outage, due to the fact there is no handle on the outside garage door. Mr. Sturdy is very polite and professional.
Description of Work: My garage door would not close by itself. When I tried to close from the button on the inside it would go back up and the interior light on the motor would start flashing. Prior to this the door was also squeaking very loud when opening and closing. The door also would not close with the remote control from the outside.

His price was fair and he gave an Angie's List discount. He came as promised and even killed a black widow spider hanging to our door. I'll be calling the exterminator next.
Description of Work: Sturdy Todd replaced a broken spring on a Wayne Dalton Garage Door by retrofitting the spring assembly with a higher quality new spring.

 + -1 moreInitial phone call was returned promptly. Offered sincere advice on my problem (lost remote for 24 year old system). Did not try to push anything but gave me all the options. Only downside was he didn't come to do the work until 7 pm when I was expecting him at 4 pm and didn't call. I finally called him. The work was done very professionally and he took the time to show me all the features of the new system.

 + -1 moreI called at approximately 5:00 PM on Thursday and Mr. Todd came out to my home at 7:00 AM on Friday. He asked if the time was OK, that he did not want to wake anyone up. He charged exactly what he said, and was done in about a half hour. He was pleasant, personable and very knowledgeable. He told me what to expect within the next few years from my 13 year old automatic door opener. I will definitely call him back when I need to replace my unit. I felt very comfortable, and knew he was telling the truth about my system. I highly recommend him to everyone out there!!! He was prompt, clean, and cheaper than the other companies!!!

 + -1 moreI CALLED ONE DAY AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT MORNING. STURDY ARRIVED ON TIME. HE QUICKLY SURMISED THAT WE HAD AN OVERSIZED GARAGE DOOR WITH UNDERSIZED COMPONENTS. SOME OF THE HINGES WERE BROKEN, AND THE PLASTIC WHEELS WERE DRAGGING INSTEAD OF ROLLING. THE DOOR OPENER WAS BEING OVERWORKED. IN ADDITION TO MAKING THE NECESSARY REPAIRS, STURDY LOCATED A LITTLE-KNOWN SWITCH IN THE MOTOR TO REDUCE THE INITIAL LOAD ON THE DRIVE MOTOR. OVERALL, I AM VERY PLEASED.

HE ADJUSTED THE SPRINGS, CABLES, TRACKS AND OPENERS ON BOTH DOORS AND CORRECTED A NUMBER OF MISTAKES MADE BY THE PREVIOUS COMPANY. BOTH DOORS NOW WORK SMOOTHLY, AND WE HAVE HAD NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. THE SERVICE COST WAS QUITE REASONABLE, AND WE WOULD DEFINITELY USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
