Sturdy quoted me a price over the phone when I first spoke to him and that price was the same when I called to schedule. He called before arriving to verify the appointment. When he arrived, he quoted me a price for the additional materials required (minimal) so there would be no surprises. He got to work immediately and didn't mind when I came out to learn about the process for a little bit. After the installation was complete, he took the time to teach me all the features. He programmed all the remotes. Overall I was impressed and very glad that I didn't try to install the openers myself!

They were, as always, extremely courteous and respectful. He asked me several questions about the problem I was experiencing and gave an insightful answer that solved it.

I called Mr. Todd back after our last wonderful experience with him. He came out the next day and took care of everything in less than an hour. He explained our new system (our old one did not have the electric eye), and gave me the information on our warranty. Will call him again if I need to!

I thought he was prompt, he was helpful. He charged a good price. He was on time and I think he did good quality work.

I thought that I would have to have a new garage door installed, but they were able to replace the gear on my existing garage door. They were prompt, efficient and professional.

I called around to a few garage door companies and A-1 had the cheapest price, that included $10 discount for Angie s List member. Sturdy Todd, no relation to Sweeney Todd, returned my call promptly and set up an appointment a few days later. He and one of his workers arrived on time. They were very professional and explained everything. The installation took about 45 minutes. Once finished, Sturdy provided a detailed review on how to use the system. They took the old operator along with the packaging from the new operator. The whole process was smooth and easy. Definitely worth $85 for something that would have taken me hours. Other quotes I received were in the $100-$125 range.

He arrived within an hour of our call. He pressed the opener and the garage door opened. He was not upset that it was now working. He tightened the bolts in the door, aligned the door, and lubed the track. He also set up the outdoor remote and another car remote. We are thrilled with the service.

They were careful of the trim around the door and did a wonderful job of hanging the new storm doors. They were careful of the carpet in the entry way, cleaned up all of the debris and got rid of it and the old doors.

They did an excellent job! They were friendly, professional, courteous, and obviously knew what they were doing. The doors operate like new and they are actually quiet. I only wish I had called them a lot sooner. I can't believe these are the same doors.

They were fairly reasonably priced. They came out on time and were courteous and kind. They seemed to get the work done. If we lived here we would use them again.

Our garage door is low-end with plastic parts and subpar hinges. The door would not go up and down smoothly and screws from the hinges continually fall off. The final straw was when the arm (that attaches from the opener mechanism to the door) detached from the door last week. Another company looked at it yesterday and said I needed a new door ($1275). Due to the cost, I thought I'd better get a couple other opinions. I called A-1 at 4:30-5pm yesterday and Sturdy said he could come today following a morning appointment. He and an employee took a look and said with a few fixes we can probably get another 2-3 years out of the door. The arm was installed incorrectly - too low and not secured sufficiently. They were able to move the arm to the proper height so the door operates correctly. They also added bolts to the hinges to secure them better, lubricated the rail, and pulled the cables back so they weren't hanging and at risk of being severed (which again could render our door inoperable in the future!). This all took less than 30 minutes and cost me $75 ($85 with a $10 Angie's List discount!). They were educational and very willing to answer questions. And my door runs quieter than before they came. They didn't sell me something I didn't need and as a result, I'll call them again when I need service or a new door. Very trustworthy.

Someone backed into my wooden garage door and separated and bowed the panels. Mr. Todd was able to come out sooner than originally quoted and he called to make sure it was ok. The two gentlemen did an excellent job by winching and tightening the panels back into place and bracing the door to prevent further movement or displacement of the panels. They were fast and the cost was excellent.

I called A-1 Door Services around 10:00 am on Friday morning and spoke with an answering service. She said Sturdy Todd would return my call shortly-which he did. Mr Todd said he could come after lunch the same day and would call when about to arrive, which he did, arriving at 1:20 pm. Mr Todd has a large truck and carefully backed into my driveway without going on the grass. The door only needed lubrication on the metal hinges (never spray WD-40 or similar spray lubrications on plastic as it acts like a sponge and makes the problem worse). My rollers were plastic as Mr Todd showed me. Who knew!? A grease lubricant was applied to the track going to the motor above. Problem solved! Mr Todd is personable, educational and does what he says he is going to do. Garage doors that don't work properly or are broken in an up position are a high security risk to the homeowner. I was very grateful that Sturdy Todd was able to come out quickly and resolve my issues. Thanks!

They were on time. The price was very fair. The gentleman that came to do the repair was very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. We would defiantly use them again if we have any problems.

Excellent. My initial call was returned promptly and I was given good information when we spoke. Sturdy arrived promptly at the scheduled time, installed the door opener and did some minor maintenance while he was there. He explained the new system thoroughly and charged me exactly what he had estimated plus a small amount for the additional maintenance.

I called A-1 at 8:30 or so, and Sturdy Todd called me back within 15-20 minutes. We chatted about the symptoms; he said he'd be able to work us into the schedule the same day. As promised, he arrived the same day in the late afternoon (calling before-hand to let us know the approximate time he'd arrive). During his visit he was professional, easy-going and candid the door mechanism wasn't the problem, but the opener was. He suggested that we have 12-18 months more life in the unit (great investment, wasn't it??!!) and he adjusted the unit for us. He discussed options for a new opener and we'll certainly call on Sturdy and A-1 when we need to replace the unit.

He showed up promptly and worked quickly. Actually, he's rarely at my house for longer than 15 minutes the times he's come out. He's friendly and professional. During my last visit, the garage door would go up, but not down so he fixed the problem.

They were responsive, on time and were courteous. Their prices were fair and I would use them again.

I left a message with Mr. Todd's answering service on Sunday night and he returned my call the next morning. He came out that day. He checked the basics first to rule them out, then found the problem to be in the electronics. He was prompt, courteous and fair. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others.

Mr. Todd identified the problem on the phone, explained the cost estimate, and said he would call before coming over. He arrived the same day. He and his assistant replaced both springs efficiently, tightened all the hardware, and lubricated all the moving parts. He offered to leave the replaced parts or recycle them. He also explained what was needed to maintain the door. The price was exactly on the quote, including the Angie's List discount.

I called Mr. Todd because my garage door light had broken and I thought the opening mechanism needed servicing. Mr. Todd came out the same day I called, made a few adjustments, and then told me that the door looked fine and didn't need servicing just now. The trouble I was having with the light was easily fixed with a $20 part I could buy and install myself. He also gave me some tips on how to keep my door in good working condition. I offered to pay him for the service call but he declined any payment. He said he didn't need payment since he hadn't really done anything. He could have serviced the door and charged a full fee (I would have been none the wiser), but instead he was honest about what he thought I really needed and did not perform and charge for unnecessary work. He was very polite and helpful. I was most impressed and will definitely call him again when I need help with my garage door.

Prompt, efficient, informative and the $85 included the parts.

Highly recommend the company. Appointments for quote and installation were on time. Cleanup and explanation of operation were satisfactory. I could have paid a $100 less elsewhere, but I believe I got far more than that with a higher quality product that will add value to my home. Door looks and operates great!
