Description of Work: Due to water damage existing laminate kitchen floor had to be removed and new one installed. Mohammad came out same day called to show samples and give quote. No pressure to buy, but price was fair. Installers came at time set and did a very professional install. Very pleased with whole experience with A-1. Planning to use A-1 on a future project.

Description of Work: Carpeting in living room and master bedroom. They were very easy to work with, very professional, respectful, and detail oriented. Thats way more than I can say for many other places I've dealt with in the last few months for my home renovations.

Description of Work: A-1 replaced the carpet in our master bedroom. The owner was very good about fitting us in on our schedule to measure the carpet needed, as well as making sure it could be installed timely. Ordered on a Thursday after work and it was installed a week and a day later on Friday morning! Quick turnaround and professional service. We'll be using them again.

Description of Work: During our consultation Mr. Takali was very nice. We chose a more expensive carpet and he promised the highest quality 8 pound pad to go with it. |On installation day my wife was initially unhappy about the way the carpet looked. It was vastly different from the sample he had brought. I called to talk to Mr. Takali about it (in no way being confrontational or talking about refusing to pay-just attempting to convey my wife's concern) and he immediately lost it and was very rude. He did not care to hear what I was saying. He did come over and walked us through it but was still abrasive. He did apologize for yelling. |However it overall was such a stressful, unprofessional experience we would never consider using him again. |Come to find out also when we went to carpet the rest of the house that though he used the 8 pound pad it was an inferior one. That solidified our disappointment with this company. |

Description of Work: Mohammed was a pleasure to work with and we are very pleased with the new carpet we had installed in our upstairs bedrooms, hallway and stairs. His crew worked to fix the "creaks" we had in our flooring as well. They also did a great job cleaning up afterwards. If we need flooring again, this is the guy we'll be calling!

Description of Work: I will agree that Mohammed was quick to respond to my phone inquiries, and I thought the price was great for the large area to be covered. When I made my deposit the day was move up by one which was great. Everything was great up until the installation. We had some water damage around a french door which we knew about. Upon pulling up the floor, they needed to replace the subfloor. Mohammed called me and told me the repair would cost and additonal 135 dollars which was fine. The problems occurred on the second day, while removing the old sub floor one of the workers cut through a power cable which resulted in several outlets in the kitchen and the dining room being out as well as causing the breakers to blow multiple times for their power tools. After asking the head person in charge what had happened he found the issue. He left to get the parts to repair it but unfortunately his crew continued to work and covered up the area with the problem. He then had to enter the crawl space to attempt to fix the issue, after a couple of attempts, he got the power back on. I am going to have to have an electrician to come and check to make sure the repair has been done correctly as it is under the house and I don't want to risk starting a fire. They also had covered one of the ducts for the heat. All of this resulted in a huge amount of stress to me, then to make matters worse, their hydraulic hammers to nail the flooring in have left oil marks on my paint which won't come off. I didn't address this with the crew as by the time they left, I was ready for them to leave! I will now have to repaint these areas of my living room to cover these oil marks. I am a bit disappointed that this company was A rated on Angie's list as I feel a bit let down. The work was done quickly and it does look nice (except the oil on the walls) but the experience was a bit draining and I'm not sure I would use them again. Makes me hesitant to hire another contractor. The other issue was that after day one, the guy in charge told me they would start at 8am the next morning, I got up early and then they didn't arrive until nearly 930,

Description of Work: I have very old carpets that needed stretching in the hallway and where the carpet flowed into the great room. I also had a carpet seem between the hallway and my son's bedroom that needed to be re-glued. The owner was very responsive, I was able to speak on the phone with him several times to discuss price and set a date for the service. I had forgotten to metion I was an Angie's list member when we agreed on a price and I thought, oh well, there goes my discount. But when I mentioned my membership the owner offered the discount off the price he had given me. His workers were punctual and very courteous and I thought the price was reasonable. My old carpets have new life again!. I will definitely go back to this company when I am ready to replace them.

Description of Work: I needed someone to assist with a rennovation of our "pantry" which is really just a space carved out beneath our attic stairs off of our kitchen. It is a small-ish space, getting smaller as it moves back, is never high enough to really step into and is not a really finished space. We had some shelving put in as a part of our overall kitchen re-work. The floor of kitchen is stained wood parquet, and the floor of the pantry is not. It had old lineoleum tiles and some extra tiles at the joint with kitchen floor (formerly all hidden by an old remnant of carpet). We needed a good floor person to fix uneven surfaces and as the space was only 24 sq ft at most, I hoped for a decent remnant to save money. A-I had a remant of wood floor looking vinyl, good thick quality, and a fairly close match in color with rest of kitchen wood floor color - perfect for our need. They understood the problems with the uneven floor surface (combination of different levels, tiles and materials. The installer was knowledgeable and proficient. He came on time, worked hard, smoothed the floor surface and installed the solid piece of vinyl floor covering, cleaned up after himself and when finished, the floor was level, well done and clearly a good choice for our circumstances. I was very pleased. Later A-1 owner called himself to be sure we were satisfied. We are satisfied. Not sure you could get this attention to such a small project from a big box store. Will call A-1 again if we need the his type of service and product, and will recommend to others.

Description of Work: Refinished the hardwood floors in our home.

Description of Work: Demolition of existing of old tile, and installation of ceramic tile in a small master bathroom. This included new tile on the floor and the shower floor and walls, shelves, and new Durarock with Shower Pan.

Description of Work: Take up old carpet and pad and haul away. Remove old carpet that is glued on winding staircase. Install new carpet.

Description of Work: I needed tile for a custom bathroom & needed it quickly. I tried several of the other tile shops in town with fairly poor results. They were expensive, did not really seem to want to help me. Mohammed took literally a couple of hours to go through the whole tile process & help me pick out several tiles & matching grout to use. I knew right away that he is someone who cares about customer service. He has proven that time & time again. Through the installation process & all of the things that can go wrong, it has been a GREAT experience working with Mohammed & A-1 Tile & Carpet, & I know that I can count on him 100%.
