+ 0 moreWe first went to the A1 showroom on South Blvd. Mohammand was very professional and agreed to come out to our house on the next day (a Sunday) with tiles to review with us. He showed up on time and we hired him on the spot to replace the flooring in three bathrooms with tile. The work was done within 2 weeks. There were a couple of touch-up issues, but he had those fixed within 2-3 days. For the price, A-1 was an excellent choice to use for tiling. Highly recommend.

+ 0 moreI reached out to the company for an estimation on replacing the carpet in my living room, 3 bedrooms/closets and the owner was very responsive. He gave me an estimation within minutes while standing in his store based on the measurements from another company. I must say that he immediately provided a price that was very reasonable and within my budget. His employees were very respectful and completed the job very quickly (I thought it would take more than 6 hours to complete the job, but they were done within 3-4 hours) and did an exceptional job. As I walked around the house to inspect the edges to ensure that the carpet was neatly tucked, the owner's employees responded immediately if there were small areas still sticking out. Overall, I was very satisfied with the completed job and would definitely use this company for all my flooring needs in the future. I would also recommend this company to all my friends.

+ 0 moreAfter checking with a big box store, which turned out to be complicated and not customer friendly. ie see store employee, get set up with a separate measuring service, get called back by separate installation service, (old carpet removal extra, more than 6 pieces of furniture per room extra, no bunk or canopy beds). Went to A-1 carpet and met Mr Mohammed Takali. We found carpet in quality, color, style and price we were looking for. We got an approximate price based on our measurements, then Mr Takali came to our house that evening to get exact measurements. We agreed on a final price which was slightly less than the rough estimate, our carpet was ordered ( we needed four different colors) and installed in about a week. We are completely satisfied. With A-1 the process is simple and the results are simply excellent.
Description of Work: Moved furniture, removed and took away old carpet, screwed down loose areas of subfloor fixing the many squeaks we had, installed new carpet in 4 bedrooms.

+ 1 moreWe found Mohammed on Angie's List and based on the glowing recommendations we contacted him to come to our house for an estimate. He drove all the way from South Charlotte and was very accommodating to our busy schedules. He provided us a clear estimate for the work we wanted performed and went over with us all of the pluses and minuses of our selections. The entire time he was very friendly and professional. Mohammed sent Daniel over on a Sunday to re-tile our bathroom. He did a beautiful job and had everything done in about 8 hours. The carpet installers (led by Jose) were equally as impressive. The finished 1700sq/ft of carpeting in one day. They were friendly, courteous, and hard working. They moved all of our furniture and placed everything back for us. I would surely recommend A-1 Carpet for anyone looking for great prices and great service. We already have another friend of ours getting his kitchen re-tiled by Mohammed. We plan to use them again for future projects. Highly recommended.

+ 0 moreWe picked the top 3 companies on Angie's list to estimate work, A1 was the lowest and was the only company willing to work on Saturday and Sunday. The installer were very professional and punctual, would inform you if they had to leave work site to buy supplies or if they were going out on lunch. The owner was very patient with us since we went back and forth on our selection and scope of work, he was patient on collecting his balance too. Overall was a pleasant experience and would use them in future.

+ -1 moreI called and spoke with Mohammed about my plans to replace the floor covering in my bathroom with a vinyl with a tile appearance. He said he would bring a book of samples when he came to my home. He came out and measured my rooms and I selected a vinyl from the all-inclusive sample books he had. On the day of installation his workers came, installed the floors and cleaned up after themselves. I am very pleased with my floors.

+ 0 moreAfter endless weeks of searching for quality, affordable carpet I decided to join Angies list to see what I could find. I am forever grateful that I found A1 Carpet and Mr. Takali...His service from the first email I sent to the time we paid our bill was wonderful. He helped us with every step of our carpet selection and gave us an OUTSTANDING price (I can tell you that he beat every quote we got by atleast 25%). The installation crew he used was absolutely terrific...they were extremely careful while moving all of our furniture, took their time with the installation to make sure it was perfect, and cleaned up after themselves (vacuumed up all the carpet fibers, etc). I cannot say enough good things about our experience with A1 Carpet...and our carpet looks GREAT!!! Thanks again, Mohammed!!!! Update: Since carpet was installed we have had two large liquid "spills" on our carpet...one of which sat on the carpet for several hours before we found it upstairs (we have little kids!). We are happy to report that the liquid sat ON TOP of the carpet and when we went to clean it up it absorbed into the towel and the carpet underneath was TOTALLY dry!!! We were shocked!!! Our old carpet would have been stained and soaked beyond repair....We are SO happy to have this great new carpet!!! Thanks again Mohammed!!

+ 0 moreSaw this company recommended on Angie's list and called. VERY PROFESSIONAL, brought samples, I chose a carpet, got my 5% Angie's list discount, to an already very fair price. Scheduled the install for the next week. The Installers were fantastic, took about 4 hours, a very large room 24x20 with too much furniture, bookcases, heavy antiques, they moved everything (I removed knickknacks) did a super job on laying the carpet, quality pad, I feel the difference when I walk on it) and put everything back, reconnected the Cable TV and were delightful to work with. The owner called me when they left to be sure I was satisfied. I recommend them 100% great job, great price, super experience. THANKS!

We are pleased with the way the vinyl looks and performs in the room (it is cushioned, so it's much softer and warmer than the concrete and also not slippery for our dog). There were no problems with any part of the process and we would be happy to use A-1 again in the future.
Description of Work: A-1 installed sheet vinyl flooring in our 12x20 basement after repairing and smoothing the cracked concrete floor.

+ 2 moreThe whole experience went as well as I could have expected. Called Mohammed and scheduled an appointment for an estimate. He asked about what we were looking for over the phone and brought samples that most closely matched what we were looking for. When he arrived for the estimate he was very organized. He brought the samples and we actually selected our carpet, engineered wood and linoleum on the spot. He measured the space and then was able to provide us the estimate before leaving. We were feeling very good about A-1 before even comparing quotes with the two other companies we inquired about and we would have moved forward with A-1 even if Mohammed had come in a little higher with the estimates, but he was a good $500 less than both of our other quotes for equal or better quality flooring. We confirmed that we wanted to move forward and Mohammed ordered the flooring immediately and it was scheduled to deliver within the next week. Delivery of the wood was pushed back a few days because of inclement weather and we made a last minute decision to add a layer of sub floor to the kitchen, but Mohammed and his skilled team was able to get in all of the flooring in one day, by the original deadline! Ultimately we were very happy with the work and the service that Mohammed provided. I could not be happier with the results.
Description of Work: We had our hardwoods repaired and replaced, linoleum replaced in the kitchen and carpet removed and replaced on our main floor and stairs. They also replaced baseboards in the half bath and hallway and floor trim for the linoleum and hardwoods.

+ 1 moreWe found this company through Angie's List. We are very happy with the carpeting and the tile work. The carpet installers always arrived on time and were EXCEPTIONAL. They did an outstanding job thought the entire house, but particularly on our three stairways. The tile installers were very talented and did an absolutely beautiful job in the kitchen and master bath. We are very pleased with the quality of the work done. We did have some issues with scheduling due to a miscommunication regarding our start date. As a result, I think the tile and hardwood installers were over-committed and this caused some delays, resulting in them repeatedly arriving several hours after the promised time. I must say, however, that the quality of tile installation was worth the wait. We originally planned to put hardwood in our den, but because of unanticipated issues with the poor condition of our subflooring and the complication of the hardwood design, we ended up carpeting the den instead. Although this caused some stressful moments, Mohammed was always pleasant and willing to do whatever he could to resolve issues and make us happy - very customer satisfaction oriented. All of the installers left our home clean. They were very friendly, courteous and accommodating. A-1 will be doing some additional work for us early next year installing hardwood (that was originally intended for the den) in our bonus room.
Description of Work: Installed new carpet throughtout recently purchased house. Installed tile backspash in kitchen and replaced tile floor in master bath. Will install hardwood early next year.

On our first visit to the store, we looked at some samples and Mohammed was knowledgeable and helpful with finding combinations of wood and tile that worked well together, as well as finding a good carpet for the stairs. Mohammed came out to measure the house, and came up with a good price. He was very accommodating with the deposit, since we were in the process of moving some money around. He was also very accommodating with our schedule. We have an 18 month old son, so my wife took him out of town for a week while the work was done, and the installers were scheduled to work around this. They were friendly and did great work. There were a few issues that came up, and these were taken care of in very quick time. Obviously when doing a job of this size, you would not expect things to go perfectly, but it was pretty close. The floors look amazing. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

His installers (subcontractors that he says he uses on a regular basis) were friendly, skilled and hard working. They showed up on time. The carpet guys did some extra work for me on the hardwood floor where they had removed a carpet. And the vinyl guys helped me move a table.

The owner and operator of A1 Carpet and Tile, gave me an excellent price, wonderful quality on the installation of the tile by using his trusted contractors, and went over every detail of the work being performed with me beforehand and after the work was completed. I would highly recommended using this company and will be using them again to have my guest bathroom tiled which I should have done in the first place! This company also put in vinyl flooring in my master bathroom and underneath my washer and dryer. We went to the store and were treated to remarkable service - Mohammed helped us to choose the best option for our kitchen flooring. He came to measure the area after work that evening. We had to delay the work, but he gave us the same price when we were finally ready to have the floor installed. The floor is beautiful! There was one glitch in the process and Mohammed handled that professionally and corrected the problem quickly. We felt like we'd gone back in time to when treating the customer like a family friend was the rule of thumb.

+ -1 moreWe met with Mohamed on Monday in his store and he helped us pick the carpet best suited for high traffic are and one that is "dog friendly." he then called the company to make sure the carpet was in stock. As Angie's Lists members we received a 5% discount. Mohamed came over that evening, all the way to Mount Holly, and measured to make sure our estimate of the area was right. Lucky for us we needed less carpet than we thought and he adjusted the price accordingly. We got an estimated install date and this was followed by a phone call to verify this date. As promised, the three gentlemen showed up Friday morning and worked hard for 6 hours and it looks beautiful!!! They took pictures off the walls or asked us to do so, so when they started hammering away so nothing would fall and break. The crew used a broom and vacuum cleaner to clean up after they were done.

+ 0 moreI called Mr. Takali in a panic, not quite sure what I needed done. He listened well, helping me clarify by asking several questions and was very straight forward and upfront about my options. He gave me a quote and agreed to have someone out to my house as soon as possible (which ended up being the same day in the evening) as he knew that it was very important to get the work done immediately. The work was in an efficient and timely manner. He ensured that we were happy with the work, which we were. Mr. Takali and his contractors were very pleasant to work with and gave us exceptional service. We would definitely call on them again and recommend their services without reservation.
Description of Work: Wall-to-wall carpet was torn in several places and binding was damaged. Carpet was repaired with a remnant and end was re-bound.

+ -1 moreTerrible!! Rude and angery!! Takali really needs to consider doing other kinds of work, instead of dealing with the public. Not really interested in an Blah Blah excuse, just wanted everyone to know how that person runs his business, very unprofessional. If I was a betting man I would bet he want be in business much longer, what would you do about all the work he has done for you as far as warranty if he goes out of business, after all he only sold you tile. Angie List needs to remove from his profile that he gives free estimates, he was going to charge me.
Description of Work: Just spoke with Mohammed Takali on the phone, the man has no personality and was absolutely RUDE, it was difficult to understand him with his thick accent. Cannot believe this person is actually running a business as unprofessional as he was. Renovating my home and needed to replace the tile in the bathrooms and kitchen, upstairs walk in shower floor and drain pan as explained to Takali the tile on the walls and ceiling are intact and don’t need replacing. Had already decided on a basic white 8x8 or 12x12 ceramic tile for the floors and the work around the bathtub and shower stall floor replacement would have the same style 4x4 gray gloss tile, all these are basic plain patterns. There was a small area around the upstairs lavatory backsplash that I had picked out as a stainless steel pattern from Home Depot, total area was about 3 square feet and a pattern of stone from Lowe’s to border existing tile around the upstairs Jacuzzi, total area was about 5 square feet, if he had these 2 patterns I would have bought them from him but he told me he didn’t, I have not bought this tile yet. He was insistent about me coming to his showroom and select the tile I wanted and I told him the patterns I needed were basic ,which he told me he had, white ceramic for the floor 8x8 or 12x12 and gray 4x4 gloss gray for the walls and shower. Seemed his was more interested in selling his tile, which was probably overpriced and outdated since he told me that is how he made all his money. The problem started when I ask him to come out for an estimate, he said he was going to charge me for the estimate. I pointed out that on the Angie’s List summary he is listed as FREE estimates, this only made him angrier. Told Takali I live in Speedway area of Concord, house is 5 miles from Charlotte city limits. Again he said he makes his money off selling tile and wasn’t coming out to my home unless he knew I would hire him. Noticed on his Angie list summary he only has 2 employees and subs all his work, guess he has to pay those contactors to go out for estimates. Perhaps he needs to deal with contractors that give free estimates as I don’t pay any contractor for an estimate. Some make their money off this and will not give a fair estimate, think about it if you do your work for a fair price, you want need to charge for estimates, the work will be there for you. He was upset that I had tile from another company, tried to explain that is was only a small portion of the job, only 8 square feet, and he didn’t have that patterns I wanted. I pointed out that as an Angie’s List member I would report all this back to them. He LAUGHED and said he knew how to deal with them and hung up the phone. I really don’t understand why that man was so angry and unprofessional. You would think with the economy the way it is he would be needing work, or maybe business is so bad for him, know it must be difficult to deal with other chain tile companies that offer excellent prices on updated tile.
