Description of Work: Excellent work, took out the carpet on my bottom floor and put hardwood down. I would highly recommend them. There was a problem, that the project manager took 30 minutes with me to discuss and solve the issue, to lower the time they sent a double crew due to the issue. They completed the job in one day and it was supposed to be a 2 day job. It was 3 rooms, 2 halls and a closet. I'm planning to do my second floor and the steps leading up with 50 floor.

Description of Work: Horrible pushy and egotistical salesman who wants to sell you what he wants not what you want. Staying for hours to convince you and talk b.s. not acceptable. Wasted time negotiating high prices to see what you'll pay even worse. Carpet installers (senior age)took way too long and every doorway (7) has multiple staples popping up. You are much better off with a big box store. Don't let these people in your house.

Description of Work: We had hardwood floor installed in the majority of the first floor of our house - approximately 1,200-sqft. We quoted Lumber Liquidators, Lowes, Home Depot, and called 50floor for a second quote - the jingle from the commercial was stuck in my head - "call 877, 50-floor, pick up the phone, we'll be knockin at your door." A sales person came out, measured and did a good job there. He brought in samples and was pretty heavy in trying to sell us laminate - which looked good, but was not any cheaper than hardwood. After finally narrowing it down to a couple of samples we liked, we asked for quotes. The quote included tearing up the existing floors and disposing of the trash, cleaning our slab, floating the hardwood, and install quarter round. It started at $11,600 which I thought was outrageous and I said we'll have to think it over. Now it turned into a used car show, I was asked "what number would you need to make the sale tonight?" My wife is luckily a harder negotiator here and said $7,000 - after we met at $7,500 which was cheaper than lumber liquidators and +/-2% of lowes/depot we pulled the trigger. The date - 11/13/14. We were told we would be contacted within a week to schedule installation that should be done before thanksgiving or right after. My wife got a call saying the wood would be in that week for delivery to their warehouse and they would deliver to our house for acclimation. During the first week of December - I called to figure out what the hold up was - no contact was initiated on behalf of 50floor. The wood was delayed, and we debated to cancel and move to use someone else - after calling the Atlanta office we had the wood delivered on 12/10. Something that bothered me was that we were told we would need to acclimate the wood - but now they could install it that day. After lots of research, it was ok to install it in the Carolina's without the 3 day acclimation. | |Here is where 50floor redeemed themselves - the installation crew was outstanding. The floors look outstanding - quarter round perfect - communication was outstanding. Before anything was done (boarder around the fireplace, transition strips, door framing, etc.) we were asked what we thought, if we liked it, if we wanted something different. It makes giving them a C or a B hard - I give the install crew an A, I give the management a D - basically across the board the install team is worth more than the customer service and schedulers. They came, and in 2 days had the entire job done - furniture moved, cleaned up, and came back a day later to take care of some small issues (loose joint and a small scratch). | |If it wasn't for the install crew - I would rated 50floor an F. The pricing is still bothersome to me - there shouldn't be a 30% markup to be negotiated - if you use them, it shouldn't be more than what Lowes charges for install of hardwood. Their crew knew what they were doing and our floors look great, it was just a stressful process to get the install crew here!

The salesperson said he'd done flooring himself for years- which was encouraging. I don't think it's a great idea to have someone sell something if they aren't experienced with the difficulties of the rest of the job. The finished product looks fantastic. the installer was clearly an expert. Here's some prorblems though:. I think the installers would have been fantastic in a new-build or complete renovation. Although they kept my refrigerator plugged in the whole time, my house was dangerous for my 2 year old and nearly unusable for 2 days. They left the long strips of molding out - so our child wanted to play with them. The guest bath toilet was put into the guest bath tub, which is old and a plastic material- it could have cracked under the weight- I'm glad it didn't- but the unsecured toilet pipe in the floor was a surprise- that bathroom is directly next to a 2 year old's room. The kitchen appliances were in my dining room and everything in the adjoining living room was in shambles. All of this is because we have single floor, 1800 sq ft house and only the 2 bathrooms and everything is close together. It just came as a surprise to have all 3 areas started on at once- and for them to advertise one day service and never hint that it would be otherwise until 4pm the first day that it would take longer. They cleaned up fairly well, but there were small scratches, dents and flooring glue on the walls, and cabinets. I don't think they could've cleaned much better without having a separate cleaning crew- they di have you sign a waiver that there would be dust- and there was plenty. As for punctuality- they started between 9am and 10 am each day- that's not as early as I could hope, considering that I had no access to my house for 2 days until they left each night

Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for posting your experience with our company. I do apologize that your installation experience was not completely satisfactory. 50 Floor does believe in standing behind the advertisements that you and other customers view such as completing an installation in one day. However, sometimes unforeseen circumstances may prevent a one day installation. Also, please accept our apology regarding the installers not storing properly the flooring material inside your home before leaving for the evening. The workers arrived within the specified time frame. The room that was to be re-floored is approx. 13 ft /x 13/ft. The workers reeked of cigarette smoke. They did remove the furniture from the room as advertised. The carpet was taken out and I was informed that I needed a subfloor which added 240 dollars to my cost. The total time for complete installation for the vinyl was almost 8 hours. Apparently the supervisor left with some tools they needed so they waited doing nothing for a while. By the time they got done it was almost dark. They said they swept the floor, but I re sweep and mopped the floor and it was filthy. I'm giving 50 Floor a C because of the unprofessionalism of the crew and the amount of time they took to complete a 13 ft X 13 Ft room. They left litter in my driveway and it took 2 days to get the smell of cigarette smoke out of the room. I will not use this company again.

The floor itself looks good, I was very disappointed in the finishing details, ie: thresholds and quarter round molding. One floor vent was cut too large for the vent to go back into. They made several 'messes' on the existing corner wall molding, one door would not close because the threshold was too high. Molding that needed to be 'fitted' into place was very poorly done and filled with caulking - like that would hide the mistakes. I called the day after and was told they are not responsible for these things. I don't think that was in the fine print. I am having to pay to have these things fixed.

I was very pleased with the professionalism of 50 Floor. I had them pull up the carpet in my bedroom and install laminate flooring. They did just what their commercial says they do - move the furniture, do the floor, and put back the furniture. When they came the first day, they pulled up the carpet, did a lot of sanding to prepare the floor, then started the install. When they got about 4 feet out from the wall, they asked me to come in and showed me a gap between the ends of the pieces. It was minuscule and I probably would not have noticed it, but they took a picture and sent it in to their boss, who said to pull it up and they would reorder it, as it was defective. While waiting another week was not real convenient, I was very impressed that they a) noticed the problem, b) called my attention to it, c) did not try to say there was a problem with my floor and try to charge me more money, and d) stood behind their product. They came back a week later to finish the floor and I love it!

David Brenner came to my house and went on and on about how 50 Floor came to be and said all kinds of negative things about their competitors. He tried to come across like he was giving me a fantastic deal. My kitchen is very small and I only required less than 100 square feet of material. Initially, I wanted vinyl tiles, but I was given an estimate of over $1500 and an estimate for vinyl sheeting of $850. I actually agreed to the vinyl sheeting, but after thinking about it and realizing that I hadn't done my homework, I promptly hand delivered a cancellation letter to 50 Floor the very next day. I received a call from someone @ 50 floor about a week later, saying that my flooring was in and when could they install. I told them that the order had been cancelled. Maybe a day later I got a call from David Brenner telling me that if I cancelled after 3 days that I would be charged a restocking fee. I told him that I cancelled the contract the day after speaking with him. He attempted to scare me by denying that he knew anything about the cancellation. Since I had a confirmation of the cancellation, I told him to have a good day and hung up the phone. I guess after realizing that his tactics didn't work he called back to apologize, saying that he confirmed the cancellation with his office. I was NOT impressed!! I have found another company that gave me a much more reasonable estimate for vinyl tile.

The exact day they said they would come out, they began installation. They even moved furniture and not a lot of companies do that. They put the flooring down and even put down new base boards. The floors turned out great. They did great work and were very diligent. We will definitely use them again in the future.

Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for sharing your experience on 50 Floor. We truly wish to thank you for choosing 50 Floor for your flooring needs. We are elated that you are very satisfied with your floor installation. Please continue to enjoy your floor installation. Kind Regards, Angel Mobley Customer Service Manager 50 Floor
We had seen the commercials in January for the 60% off materials special 50 floors was running. We made an appointment and a sales representative came to our house. Our kitchen and dining area are an open area, with a laundry and quot;closetand quot; off the dining area (essentially, one big space and only one sheet of laminate needed - ie: not separate rooms). We also had our bathroom re-laminated and the hallway re-carpeted. Our house is not very large, 1600 sq. ft. total, so $3,000 seemed really steep for the square footage we were replacing. We were told, and it was written in our contract, that all the old laminate and subflooring would be torn up and new subflooring and laminate would be put down. The first team that came (mid-February) to do the work refused to tear up the laminate and subflooring in the kitchen area because it was and quot;too hard to pull up and would take too long.and quot; They instead put subflooring and new laminate down on top of the old, so now the kitchen area sits an additional 3/8in. above where it connects to the living room (which is hardwood floor). The subflooring was cut inside, so everything in the house had a layer of saw wood on it. The laminate was not tucked under door jams like it is supposed to be and instead they caulked around the door jams. The quarter inch rounds they replaced were also cut incorrectly. One of the magnets on the fridge was broken, cigarette butts were left in our yard, and the air duct piping brackets for the dryer were broken when they put everything back (alone, these events are no big deal, but by the end of dealing with 50 Floors, we're quite frustrated). They then did not bother to tear up the subflooring and old laminate in the bathroom either, which had old staples coming up around the toilet, and instead just put new subfloor and laminate down in there as well. Which began to bubble up the next day from the staples since they didn't bother to take the old flooring out. No issues were encountered with the carpet installation. The next day, we noticed the laminate in the kitchen was laid down very noticeably crooked. At this point, another specialist comes to the house to verify that the work was not done properly. Another installation team is scheduled to come redo all the laminate work and now we have to take another day off of work. They were able to point out a plethora of things that were done wrong by the first installers. They tore out all the old subflooring and laminate in the bathroom as per the original contract. They were told, however, to simply put new laminate down over the last job's in the kitchen (we thought they were supposed to AT LEAST tear out the subflooring and laminate the first installers put down) - so now we have a total of two layers of subfloor (the original they were suppose to remove, plus the subfloor the first installers laid down) with laminate on both layers, with the additional layer of leveling cement and another layer of laminate in the kitchen (so the kitchen now sits 1/2 inch higher than the living room). The quality of work is much better this time - the laminate is not crooked, it is tucked underneath the door jams, they leveled the floor, and the quarter round is cut much better. We contacted 50 Floors to ask for some kind of reimbursement for the fact that we paid for time and labor (which was the most expensive part of the job) to tear out the old subfloor and laminate in the kitchen (the largest area of the job), which was not done and we now instead have 2 layers of subfloor and 3 layers of laminate. We realize that the company has no doubt lost money on the job for our house at this point, but we feel like we paid a fairly decent amount of money for botched jobs and having to take additional time off of work to get the work redone (and even then, not completed as per the contract we signed). Communication within the company seems to be lacking (ie - between sales and installation) and we have not heard anything back about our request for some of our money back since the work was not completed as promised. We waited to write a review until 50 Floors was given a chance to rectify the situation. Will update our review if/when situation evolves. **Update** 50 Floors contacted us and we discussed the break down in communication. We are very pleased that they took the time to contact us and discuss our issues with the job performed and they went above and beyond to rectify the situation.
Description of Work: Re-laminated kitchen/kitchenette/laundry "closet" & bathroom and re-carpeted hallway.
Over promised and under delivered!!!! The day of installation, I was expecting the installers around 9:00. They did not show up until 11:00. Calls to 50-Floor took time to have them and quot;look intoand quot; the issue and call back with info that the installers were using an old map so had difficulty finding out home. (Our home is 17 years old and the street has been on the city maps at least that long). When the installer arrived, they wanted to know what I wanted them to do about the piano. Their English was not very clear and I was left with the impression that they did not feel that moving the piano was part of their responsibility, despite what the salesperson told us. We told them that yes, the piano had to be moved in order to install the floor. There was no attempt made to look through the boxes and match the current floor. Installation proceeded VERY slowly--only 1/2 of the first room was completed by 3:30 that afternoon. Calls to 50-floor to find out why installation was taking so long again were met with and quot;Let me call and ask themand quot; and then long stories about how my floors were and quot;unevenand quot; and that was causing a delay in installation. Needless to say, installation was not complete in and quot;one dayand quot;, in fact the first room was not done in one day. I was never able to speak with my salesperson who had promised how happy we would be. I had no idea who from 50-floor I was speaking with when the problems arose. The installers came back the second day and completed installation, but it took until ~4:30 that afternoon to complete the installation. The final job is OK--there are several board with knots or other imperfections (one looks a bit like a large black bug) that were used despite the fact that we were left with an almost full box of extra pieces, many without imperfections. I have since had the carpet replaced in the entire upstairs of our home--144 sq. yards. This time I selected Hughes floor covering, and was MUCH happier!!!
Description of Work: We wanted to replace carpeting in our living room and dining room with hard wood floors. Each room is approximately 12 x 13 feet. The complication was that these rooms are on each side of a foyer that has original hard wood from building the house 17 years ago. We knew it would be difficult to match the floors closely. We decided to add a darker hard wood strip between the foyer and each room to mask the fact that the woods would not match exactly. The sales person was great. He had a good suggestion to make the darker strip a wider board. He also stated that the installers would look through the boxes of hardwood and pick the pieces that "matched" the old floor the best and start the transition with these pieces. The price was considerably less than the other estimate I had and so we selected 50-floor. Sales person said it would be no problem to complete the job, "in one day" as their ads constantly state. Also said there would be no problem with moving an antique piano that was present in the living room.

Everything went great from day one. The sales rep came out with plenty of samples to choose from. After he took his measurements and we picked the carpets, we were shocked at how reasonable the quote was. We scheduled the one day installation for 2 weeks later. The crew showed up at the earliest quoted time. They moved the furniture from one room at a time, even my 600 lb safe, and they had great attitudes the whole time. They estimated it was going to take about 8-9 hours to do 3 guest rooms, the master bedroom and closet, and a hallway. They finished in exactly 9 hours. The cleaned everything up before they left, and we couldn't have been more satisfied. It has been 2 weeks and everything still looks brand new. Update- After the holidays, which included an extra 4 children and 2 dogs running through the house for 4 days, we discovered one small patch of carpet coming up from the corner of one of the stairs. After calling customer service, they came out 2 days later, repaired the carpet, and were gone in 10 mins. Again, we were very impressed with the durability of the carpet and the response and service of the employees.
Description of Work: repaired subfloor, removed old carpet and pad from 4 rooms and hallway, and installed new pad and carpet.
The initial installation in June went well. They came when they said they would, took 2 days to remove old and install both hardwood and carpeting, and cleaned up after themselves. The office staff phoned a couple of times both days to check on progress and my satisfaction. The installers were friendly and answered most of my questions (they failed to get back to me on a question about using my vacuum beater bar on the carpet, and I had to phone the company to get an answer). BUT...in September, 2013, a little more than 2 months after the installation, one of the wooden thresholds failed, coming unglued from the floor. I didn't realize that it was loose, and it broke when I stepped on it, creating a fall hazard. I was also concerned that the carpet would come undone from the tack strip and have to be restretched. Called 50 Floor of Charlotte on Monday, September 16, and we agreed that a worker would come between 8 and 10 a.m. on Friday, September 20. 10:00 came and went without any communication from the company or the workers (the local office had phoned several times during the June installation to check on progress and satisfaction). I phoned at noon to inquire about reasons for the delay and spoke to a woman who took my information and said she would call back. Nearly 2 hours passed without a call back, so at 1:45 p.m. I again phoned to inquire about the status of my repair. Excuses were given: the workers had and quot;justand quot; called in with car trouble (at 2 p.m.??); the office staff had and quot;justand quot; gotten the email with my noon inquiry. and quot;Would I be available for another day?and quot; I declined having another day of my life stuck at the house all day waiting for them to come. I had rearranged my entire day and couldn't leave my house; couldn't even get in the shower in case they showed up. The lack of communication is an issue for me. I know things crop up last minute, but the company should at least communicate with me so I know what is going on. Maybe it is because they will not be paid for this transaction that they were less concerned with my satisfaction, but, as I told the office rep, customer service is EVERYTHING! After I insisted that they keep their promise to come today, they located a worker to do the repair. He was due and quot;any time.and quot; Office staffer Tom phoned at 4 p.m. and promised that a repair person would be available by 5:30 p.m. The staff member assured me the worker had my phone number and would call if there was a delay. At 7 p.m. no worker had come or called, so I phoned the toll-free number; they couldn't assist me. I called the local Charlotte number again and left a message for a supervisor to call me. As of 7 p.m., I have waited 11 hours for what would be a 30 minute repair. As of 8 p.m., no phone call from a supervisor, and no repair. I have wasted all day waiting on this company to fix what they didn't install right. I will be phoning the main office on Monday and filing a complaint with them and perhaps the Better Business Bureau of Charlotte. The installation is good, but the customer service afterward leaves much to be desired. Buyer beware. UPDATE: 9/21/13 Received a call from the manager of the Charlotte office around noon today inquiring if I had received a call from the installer this morning. No call from anyone since 4 p.m. yesterday. Manager Mark apologized profusely and said he was out of the office yesterday. I told him I would delay calling Atlanta until I saw how the local office resolved my issue. Then about 2 p.m., the installer called with excuses about why he didn't come when scheduled; his story didn't match that of Tom's yesterday, and I called him on it. He wanted to come today, but I am not available until Monday afternoon, as I had told them all day yesterday. Appointment set for 4-5 p.m. Monday. Will update this review either way after that time frame.
Description of Work: In June, 2013, the company, which is new to the Charlotte, NC, market, took out old carpet in 3 rooms, installed new carpet in 2 rooms, and hardwood floors in the great room. In early September, about 2 1/2 months after installation, the wood threshold between the master bedroom (new carpet) and the hall (new hardwood) failed because it was not properly installed.

tSalesman came about 8 days prior to installation. I had heard radio ads for this company and asked for reviews from the Atlanta Angies list since they are relatively new to Charlotte. After checking out the reviews I decided to give them a try. They came in and moved all my furniture just as the tv ad stated. They came right on time and installed the floor in about six or seven hours. There was some minor damages from some of the hammering upstairs, and the furniture wasn't put back 100% correctly, but over all it was a good experience.
